Actor Jon Voight told the “No Spin Zone” host Bill O’Reilly that he is fascinated by his daughter Angelina Jolie.

This should come as no surprise considering the two have been estranged since 2002 when Voight made unfavorable remarks about Jolie in an interview suggesting she had “serious mental issues.”

Despite having given birth to her biological daughter Shiloh with partner Brad Pitt, adopting three children and losing her mother to cancer earlier this year, Angelina has continued to keep her father at arms lengths. Perhaps this fascination stems from the alienation, or it could be that Voight, like the rest of the world, just can’t seem to figure the gorgeous actress out.

Angelina, an Oscar-winning actress, is extremely famous for two reasons: her humanitarian work and her home-wrecker status. These two symbolic actions don’t co-exist favorably. Whether she and her partner of two years, Brad Pitt, want to admit it or not, it’s clear they forged an unmistakable bond while Brad was still married to actress Jennifer Aniston. It doesn’t matter when they consummated the act (something they both allege happened after he was separated from his wife) or before - a high profile marriage of two extremely likable celebrities was left in shambles. Symbolically it divided people into two camps. Pro-Angelina vs. Pro-Jennifer.

Then, almost miraculously and with strange coincidence, Angelina embarked on a crusade to bring awareness of the plights of the poor and down-trodden, most especially children, to the eye of world. Truly noble and kind-hearted. Almost the only possible next move of someone wanting to overhaul their image of temptress to saint. I’m not judging, I’m just saying is all.

I applaud her efforts to help children, few things are more important. But I also value the importance of honesty and staying true to your dignity. Breaking up a marriage is NOT cool any way you slice it. Shame on Brad most of all.

So back to Bill O’Reilly and Jon Voight’s fascination.

Here’s what they had to say:

Bill O’Reilly: “Now, your daughter, Angelina Jolie. You know, we checked her out. I don’t know whether you know this or not. Big investigation on her. And we found out she walks the walk, that she gives all the money, millions of dollars and this and that. She has become, I believe, the most interesting celebrity in the world. In your opinion, why?”

John Voigt: “Yes, she is fascinating. She’s fascinating to me. She’s my daughter. I’m completely fascinated with her. And I have a great admiration for all the work she does and in her humanitarian effort. I think she’s quite stunning, of course. Very attractive gal. And she, for whatever reason, she has a certain charisma.”

O’Reilly agreed, “In the acting — in the acting profession, you’ve known them all. Some people have charisma and some don’t. She obviously has it.”

Can’t disagree, Jolie is both charismatic and fascinating.

But then again, so is Tom Cruise.

Janet Gabriel knows this story was false. Why? Because she was there on stage with Paris when she declined. Not because she can’t sing, but because she didn’t know the song. No shame in that is there?

I wrote about this over the weekend and didn’t want to go too far with the story until I heard back from Janet Gabriel, the woman who stated she was on stage with Paris Hilton at the Club 3121 for the Prince concert in Las Vegas, April 20.

I have heard back from her and she has offered verifiable proof that not only was she there, but the story that made headlines last week about Prince inviting Paris Hilton on stage just to humiliate her were false. According to Ms. Gabriel, members of the audience were invited on stage which included Paris Hilton and Ms. Gabriel. The chosen song was “Play That Funky Music” (Wild Cherry had the hit btw) and the reason Paris didn’t sing was she didn’t know the words. A perfectly reasonable reason to decline. This doesn’t mean that Paris Hilton can sing live, but it doesn’t mean she can’t either.

I contacted Us Magazine for a comment on this story and was referred to a Mark Neschis. After asking for my credentials he stated he would call me back. I waited for about an hour and a half. I then called him back asking if Us wanted to give their side of the story. His response, “I don’t know who are,” “You haven’t give me enough time,” and “Why are you being belligerent?” To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t belligerent, but I was persistent. I tried to offer him more time, but he cut me off with, “You want a statement from Us, the statement is “No comment.”

No word on whether they plan to print a retraction of their story.

I have contacted Paris Hilton’s representation at her company Paris Hilton Entertainment, and Endeavor Agency (her talent agency) in an effort to get in contact with Elliot Mintz, Paris’ spokesperson. I was given her PR assistant email - I am waiting to hear back from them.

The story — though hardly a matter of national security — was picked up and covered by just about every celeb site out there, as well as mainstream media, including MSNBC, Blender and The Boston Globe. By the time I gave up counting the links, it was well over 100.

As I stated in my previous post, most of us found this story too good to pass up. Clearly, so did Us Magazine who originally printed it, both in their May 7th issue and on their website. The story, in their “HOT STUFF!” section is aptly titled: Paris Hilton, DISSED BY PRINCE!

Surely they new that would be a great story to cover - Paris is the celeb we love to trash. She often makes it easy with her flamboyant and unabashed nature. I am no angel in that regard, I have posted many nasty and unpleasant things with great relish on this site about Paris Hilton. But I, like most online sites, get my celeb news from the mainstream media. Their tone and their coverage set the stage for who we love and who we love to hate.

The story in Us just says “A source tells Hot Stuff that Hilton, 26, was in the audience at the Purple One’s April 20 Club 3121 gig at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas when he invited her to join him.” And that’s where the truth ends.

Here’s what soul singer Janet Gabriel, had to say about that night at the club:

“Unfortunately, I did not meet Paris Hilton anywhere apart from on Princes stage. We were mere inches apart, facing each other for a few seconds with Prince[’s] backing singer between us while I sung the first bar of the song with the mic in Shelby’s hand. She [Paris] actually appeared relieved that I got her off the hook of singing a song she didn’t know the words to and she smiled shyly, yet appreciatively at me then I turned towards Prince, then the audience to finish the song. She did not storm off in anger at all and all that stuff about Prince attempting to humiliate her was not true at all. His shows in Vegas are all about audience participation and he was only trying to recognize her presence. I heard he did the same when Gnarls Barkley singer CeLo attended a previous gig in Vegas.

Given, Paris has made a few mistakes in the past, and I do admire her ability to keep going on despite all the negative publicity for which she may be partially responsible, but it really doesn’t give anybody any excuse to keep using every opportunity to pull the poor lady down and keep her her a laughing stock. Hence I appreciate your efforts to get US Magazine to admit their mistake.”

Ms. Gabriel, a software developer, has invested all her money and efforts into a music career as a soul/jazz singer with her backing band the Neophonics. Despite being in the midst of getting ready to leave her native UK to go on tour in Nigeria, she said she couldn’t let the story stand unchallenged. She left comments on Us’ website, Glosslip and here.

As someone at the beginning of their journey into building a name for themselves as an artist, she understands all too well how the media can make or break you. I thank her for setting the record straight. Maybe Paris will too.

News reports are surfacing that former Culture Club singer Boy George was arrested on assault charges brought up by a male escort named Auden Carlsen who accused Boy George (George O’Dowd) of chaining him up in his flat and then brandishing a box sex toys, and then allegedly stating “Now you’ll get what you deserve.”

Mr. Carlsen states that he was “hired” by Boy George to come to his home to pose and have pictures taken. Mr. Carlsen claims he was posing in kinky outfits, when George told him he was “popping out for some milk,” but when he returned he was not alone. He and another man handcuffed the escort and chained him up to a “hook by the bed and held him down.”

After the other man left, that’s when Carlsen stated that George threatened him with the sex toys. Carlsen managed to free himself and alert authorities. And one final caveat to this ball of cheesy news is, Carlsen added the following quote:

“It’s ironic that his biggest hit was Do You Really Want To Hurt Me - because I’m sure he did want to hurt me. I was convinced I was going to die.”

Mr. Carlsen had me convinced until that last line, now, I am afraid a tinge of doubt has been cast on his allegations. Boy George is no stranger to trouble, last year he was sentenced to community service after police found cocaine in his apartment.

Can’t a former gay pop star get his freak on without folks getting wily? Poor George, looks like he’s suffering from a little Karma Chameleon.

Yea, I went there.

I published a story first seen in Us Magazine about Prince calling Paris Hilton on stage during his April 20, Las Vegas concert at the Rio Casino club 3121. As the story was printed, Prince invited Paris on stage and then reportedly said to the audience, “Let’s see if she can really sing.” Paris reportedly stormed off stage in a huff, refusing the challenge. Paris’ reps denied the story and Prince’s reps offered no comment.

Most assumed the story was true, as Us Magazineis a fairly credible celebrity news source. Well according to this rather descriptive comment left on Glosslip.com, the Prince/Paris singing dis story is a complete fabrication.

A Ms. Janet Gabriel, who states she was at the concert, offers a counter-claim to the Us Magazine article:

“As it turns out, I’m the lady from the audience who sang “Play that funky music” with Prince on Friday 20th April 2007. He had already invited a handful of people onstage to dance, Paris Hilton was one of them and so was I. Prince respectfully asked anyone to from the audience to sing that song with him and never said anything about whether Paris could sing or not. The microphone was with his backing singer, Shelby and she was the one that apparently offered the microphone to Paris. I knew the song and I in my excitement I frantically ran across the stage to seize the opportunity of a lifetime; the honour to sing with the greatest of all entertainers, Prince himself. It looked as though the problem was that Paris did not know that particular song, so I started singing the first bar of the verse of the song with the mic still in Shelbys hand. Prince then signaled Shelby to let me continue and that was it. Prince did not dis Paris and Paris did not storm off in anger. All dancers left the stage together. The whole event was great fun and awesome entertainment, nothing should be taken away from that. And I’ll never forget that moment that I shared the stage with Prince!!!!”

If this is in fact Ms. Janet Gabriel, she is also a singer and has several audio clips on her website. She also has a myspace page, but there was no mention there about the concert. I have found nothing to counter her claim of being at the concert, and I have emailed her for any additional comments on the story. Assuming this is true, it’s another example of a how we in the “citizen journalist” media take at face value what the major publications print.

We all love celeb dirt and certainly I am as guilty as anyone of pouncing on sensational stories that paint celebrities in a negative light. But I want those stories to be true, even those about Paris Hilton. It makes you wonder how many times we read a story in a major magazine, assume it’s true, make a judgment, form an opinion and then color our view of someone based on information that’s just plain false.

Do we owe Paris Hilton an apology? Maybe? But only for this, the rest, is pretty unforgivable.

Update: I continue to check out this the reliablilty of this counter-claim, and while I have no smoking gun, on Us Magazine’s site I see Ms. Gabriel left a comment there as well, and there are several other comments backing up her statement.  This isn’t Imusgate or anything, but still, makes you question how much fact-checking major magazines give to their sources.

Is Britney lashing out at those around her in an attempt to deflect from her own missteps?  Perhaps, or maybe she’s just beating those riding on her gravy train to the punch.  Whatever the reason, new rumors are circulating that the popstar is planning on writing a tell-all book where she will detail the failings and selfishness of those close to her as shining examples of why she derailed like a flaming train off a cliff of doom.

First up, JT:

“Brit blames most of her problems with drugs and alcohol of the heartache she experienced years before, during her time with Justin; she couldn’t trust him…She also felt he became mean towards the end of their relationship; she said he called her fat and told her she’d need to lose weight before he would have sex with her.”

I can see this, JT seems to grow weary of them when they start to hit the wall of U.G.L.Y., you ain’t got no alibi. 

Brit pretty much sums up ex-K-Fed, finally catching on to what the entire universe knew about him, but she failed to see:

“Brit will say he deliberately tried to drive her crazy. She feels Kevin just pretended to love her for the money and a music career. When that sunk in, she was so heartbroken that she wanted to kill herself.”

And if all else fails, her mother is final scapegoat for the endless screw-ups Britney’s managed to rack up in no short order:

“Britney will call her a ’stage mum from hell’ and blame her for almost every ill in her life. She’ll say Lynne’s money hungry and that she was just along for the free ride…Britney thinks of her as a meddling, smothering person and blames her for her messy marriages.”

I can’t really comment too much on this, because I am a meddling, smothering person to my kids and that’s just the way it is, the way it’s gonna be, and it ain’t gonna be no other way.  Now go to your room you ungrateful little jerks.

Where was I?  Oh yes, I am not even sure if this is true, but it exceeds my rule of thumb by having more than one mention in a source that’s only slightly more credible than this site, so yeah, it must be true.  Needless to say, Britney’s family has counseled her against this move, but the singer, inspired by her therapist to write the book, will have the final say.

So look for this riveting tale of hillbillies gone wild at a Border’s near you..

Is it just me, or is Britney the most stubborn, ignorant and idiotic little girl on earth?  If I were her parents I would just be so disappointed and ashamed.  Her staggering immaturity is inconceivable.

Britney’s been hitting the dance studio and getting her body back into shape, ostensibly in an effort to stage a comeback. Unfortunately that comeback wasn’t Wednesday night at L.A. club Forty Deuce.

According to a story in Starpulse, Britney was a no-show for a scheduled appearance late Wednesday. She has rehearsed with her band the M&M’s the story says, and the club’s website states:

“She came on stage during rehearsals, looking very hot, with four back-up dancers and sang three songs. They ran through the set several times, the choreography was smokin’, and she sounded great.”

It’s also reported that she will be appearing at a “handful of secret-shows lined up in LA next week.”

We shall see. Most people are eager for her to make a comeback. I’m eager for her to stay home and make some mac and cheese for the tator-tot and small-fry. Do those kids ever see her?

Joe Francis’ is going to have to dig deep to find some solace in his times of trouble. As we reported earlier, the judge in his contempt of court case which landed the Girls Gone Wild founder in jail, showed Francis no mercy and sentenced him to 35 days in jail. What’s 5 more days in a 35 day sentence? Well, those additional days could cost him an extra year in jail if he is found guilty of tax evasion charges, as well as brand new charges of sexual assault and pending probation violation charges. All in all, if found guilty on all the charges against him, Francis could get up to 100 years in prison.

So what’s a multi-millionaire jet-setter to do? Call all your rich Hollywood friends and ask them to write letters defending your character. If only you could reach them. Janet Charlton is reporting that Joe’s having trouble finding friends now that he’s behind bars facing a laundry list of tawdry charges. Friends like Paris and Nicky Hilton, Tara Reid, Lindsay Lohan, Kimberly Stewart, Jessica Alba, Mario Lopez, not too mention A-Listers like Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn who enjoyed a visit to Francis palatial Cabo estate.

Nope, these folks are too busy to get back to Francis, or perhaps, they don’t have anything positive to say about the guy. Let’s face it, just because some one offers you free coke and a nice place to kick back, doesn’t mean they like you, or are your friend. I stayed at Hilton Hotel, but that doesn’t mean I will stand as a character witness of behalf of Paris.
