Avril Lavigne’s ‘Britney-Spears-Dissing’ Does (Will Do) Little To Improve Her Record Sales
Avril Lavigne isn’t fooling anyone with her half-hearted attempt to take potshots a Britney Spears.Â
Avril, barely a footnote in the pop music annals, has recently been using Britney Spears’ rehab troubles to make a name for herself and her flagging record sales (her new single “Girlfriend” can’t even be found on the Billboard charts). In an interview for Sun (UK) Magazine, Avril had these nasty things to say about fellow pop-singer and hugely popular celebrity Britney Spears:
“What’s happened to Britney is all down to who she is as a person. If you want a piece of this business, you have to be able to deal with it. You can’t complain about the pressures, the paparazzi, the madness, because that’s the job.”
That’s a rich piece of tapestry coming from a young lass who was recently dealt a PR blow by spitting in the face of photographers and signing “F*ck You” to autograph-seeking fans. Avril was later forced to give a half-assed apology - ostensibly to her fans - for the spitting, as it became evident that no one was buying her “tough chick” angst anymore. Even more ironic, she had the nerve to imply that Britney couldn’t handle her liquor, unlike Avril who states that while she also drinks “no one really gets to know” [about it] - ‘cuz you know, Avril’s so damn discreet.
Cripes almighty, that filthy Canuck needs to stuff a tie in her piehole already. If you need any further proof of how outrageously annoying and bratty Avril is, feast on this gem.
Update: Avril’s stupid new single “Girlfriend” is stinking up the Billboard Hot “100″ at number 5 - proof that being a dimwitted twit can pay off. I predict that after insulting Britney and being a stuck-up tw*t, that won’t last long. Popular music really is lame isn’t it. Billboard needs to update its seach engines. I also suspect some payola scheme behind this b.s.Â
Update 2 : That’ll show me. I just check Amazon, and her crappy album will be released on April 17, so in actuality that’s why I couldn’t find it. But based on Amazon’s trends, she’s at 80 right now, so that’s not such a great reception for her new album. But what that means is that all this trash talking is just to gain exposure for herself before her album drops…in the toilet. I am sure a bunch of teeny-bopper tweens will buy her new and improved bubble-gum bile, but anyone with any real taste (like anyone over 18) won’t fall for it. How pathetic for Avril to use Britney to help her sell records. I guess she knows her album sucks. Okay, I am done with the mea culpa. But I stand by my original claim, the only thing I am guilty of is not digging deeper - I will be vindicated!Â

Avril is dumb. The only reason she says that Britney needs to deal with the paparazzi is because she doesnt know much of what its like to be taunted by people with a camera everyday. She’s not being stalked by camera men, cause no one really cares of what she does anyway. So therefore Avril shouldn’t tell someone what they need to put up with when Avril herself doesnt know what that’s like.

Paparazzi get signature on headshots and ebay them. she was writing to the photogs. and you would spit on people with nothing better to do then chase famous people around. Avril has denied saying what’s quoted above and even if you go from what’s in the Sun, it looks like she’s right. From the Sun’s story ….
“It’s all about what kind of person you are,†she says. “I’m a strong person. I think her situation is much bigger than mine, she is much bigger and different.
“The press is not all over me like that. I think she’s probably one of the people who can’t control it.
“But I think, if you don’t want it you probably could get away from it. I don’t want my picture taken all the time.
“It’s not good for you.â€
Assuming the Sun is being very careful about quotes … and I don’t know that they are, this is a very different thing to say, and more thoughtful.
Seems like there’s plenty of misinformation and carelessness on this site, especially by the author that started it. Wrong and unchecked quote, wrong information about billboard rankings. Avril being “barely a footnote” in Pop Music when she’s sold ~ 26 million albums all around already. Many top 40 and top 10 songs. Why read the inaccurate trash talk here?

Many artist’s and labels would kill to have an 80 spot two weeks BEFORE the release. Quit being so bitter and try Nutri-System.

The biggest thing Avril has gripped and ripped at others on isn’t their peronsal habbits or problems, that she’s prettier or any of this overblown stuff …
WHAT IS IS IS LIP-SYNCING,
she’s ripped on many performers for that, then often backed off. But I think her first instincts are right. Lip-synching let’s people who can’t sing have big music careers. It leads to stale and plasticy “live” performance — that also seems like they are out of a cookie cutter.
Lip synching or just _stinking_ in live performances is the ultimate fake. It’s very common. I wish she’d stick with the gripe.
I don’t remember that she’s called Britney a lip-syncer, but if she has, she was right wasn’t she?

Dawn can you tell me, an Avril fan who loves her music, what you listen to, because if everyone that likes Avril’s music is stupid then you just called a few million people stupid. I’m 21 by the way not under 18.
And most of you should really stop trashing celebrities, including Britney Spears, you don’t know anything about them. All you know is what the tabloids make you believe. Why don’t you try to say those things to someones face, because if you’re a person who can say that to someone, you’re the b*tch not them.
And Avril Lavigne and Britney Spears are both very successful and very famous artists, they both get hounded by the paparazzi daily, the only reason Britney might get more attention is because she’s just more likely to do (or wear) something more newsworthy.
Whereas Avril actually tries to stay out of the tabloids.
And Avril didn’t really appologize for her spitting because she weren’t really sorry. She said those guys liked it (they must be twisted) and on other occasions asked her to do it, they found it funny or maybe they just wanted to get something to write about, they were not Avril’s fans, but in fact autograph hunters who sells the stuff on ebay.

Oh and by the way thanks for the link to that video on you tube, I enjoyed it a lot. Seeing Avril like that, just relax with her family, I think it was her brother and sister, is one of the big reasons why I love Avril, she’s great. I really don’t know why you find that annoying, but that’s your choice, you’re entitled to you’re opinion and taste.

Avril has tried her best to link herself with Britney all the time by criticizing Britney.
