Perspective of a proud non-parent: one of the things that is causing great harm to our society is the role children presently play. Children have become temples of their parents’ worship and vessels for their hopes and dreams. I’m not smart enough to explain the hows and the whys, but we’re seeing the effects of our worship of the children and most of them aren’t pretty.

It’s probably not a good thing that 14-year olds married and began life in the adult world at one time in our history, but it says something about de-evolution that most 21-year olds aren’t fit to run their own life let alone teenagers. Again, I don’t think I’m smarter than everybody else. I don’t have kids, but to oversimplify here, the desire to give them everything and expect nothing seems to be prevalent and it is corrosive.

Well, he definitely is verbally abusive. How can you blame his daughter for his verbal assault?

Perhaps this isn’t just a sample of a one-time blow up. I dont know the whole story but he seems like a classic verbal abuser who lost control. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has scared his daughter shitless.

I agree with the post and others, Kim should never have aired their dirty laundry, for the sake of the daughter.

Also, maybe Ireland will be able to understand the role she played that contributed to this situation once she is old enough.

No relationship compares to that of a daughter and father. I hope they can work it out.

I feel for Alec, being a single mother myself. Me and my ex never did fight over the finicial support, nor did we fight over custody, or visitation. He is a good father. Our kids are teenagers, my daughter 13, and my son 16 years of age. He has his rules at his home when they visit, and I have my rules when the kids are with me. And even when I have problems with the teens, I call him to take over on the discipline, they seem to listen more with him interacting with the discipline. And sometimes harsh words have to be used to make the teen understand you mean what you say. And hold them(teen) accountable for their behavior.. He is a frustrated father, that seems he can not get the mother - Kim to go along with the program. Kim keeps bring conflict to the table and put her child/teen in the middle of her bitterness towards Alec. It sounds that she has done everything possible to interfer with the daughter/Ireland and father/Alec relationship. If she was a good mother and had her daughters interest at heart. She would make sure her daugher(Ireland)would call her father instead of haveing schedule phone calls. Plus even if they had to be schedule calls make sure she would be recieving the schedule calls.Whether it was the mother or daughter how released the taped phone message to the press. They should be held accountable.. His daughter is old enough to know the difference between right and wrong.. This was WRONG.!! Kids are influence very easy now days.. And Ireland show’s that her mother has influence this kind of behavior for quite sometime.. Shame on you Kim… And as for Alec, you have publicly said, your sorry,to your daughter,along with saying your sorry that your sad fortune of your relationship with your daughter had to be displayed for everyone in the world to judge.. But I hope you still hold your daughter accountable for her actions, for still not excepting the phone call. She should be held accountable, to let her no.. All she had to do is answer the phone,, and none of this would of happened..

But we all know who the colvert here is,,(KIM..) But we all know they are in a custody battle and kim will do what it takes to win. Even influence inappropiate behavior her daughter is doing.. Kim get a job, stay out of the father and daughter relationship.. Kim your credibility as a careing,loving mother has been damaged more then you’ll ever know..

And I hope Alec holds you accountable for your behavior/actions..

I don’t care if Alec Baldwin’s daughter is 11 years old or 12 years old or however old she is, she is a disgrace and her treatment of her father is beyond the pale.

My heart goes out to Alec Baldwin.
These are the rantings of a man pushed to the edge by a manipulative wife and a presumably rude, ignorant and piggy daughter. Oh, and they can be piggy.
Having endured the often vile behaviour of my own teenagers, I am fully aware of the precipice to which one is pushed at times. I can only imagine how much more vile that must be when there is an ex-partner playing cheap and shitty besmirching games. And opening them up for the whole world to judge!!

I wonder at the people that publicly condemn this conversation? Do they have teenagers? Are they suffering custody battles? Should we pop a microphone into their lounge room?
The sad thing is that this tirade was aired and adjudicated on by the public. This sort of thing goes on in most people’s homes all the time, sadly. While I don’t condone much of what Mr Baldwin said, I can sense his anger, frustration and deep disappointment. I feel genuinely sorry for his apparent entrapment and obvious pain.

What a tempest in a teacup this thing was, fired up by Kim Bassinger (no doubt) and then hiked to hellish proportions by TMZ. In fact, here is the irony. Alec Baldwin pays child support and alimony to his daughter Ireland and ex-wife Kim Bassinger . . . and the person who leaked the child’s voice-mail rant to the media did it to DAMAGE the actor’s image, and negatively affect his earnings, thereby hurting his ability (perhaps) to PAY future child support, etc.

I agree with you 100% There’s two sides to every story and there are certainly two sides to this one. It’s unfortunate that Baldwin handled this so poorly because I have no doubt in my mind that Basinger is a first class b—- as much as Baldwin is a first class a–.
