Will There Be A Less Rosie View Sooner Than Expected? We Can Only Hope
Rosie got into a nasty fight with her co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck yesterday, in case you missed it. Rosie’s a liberal, Elisabeth is the resident conservative. There was some issue regarding Rosie’s “implication” that American troops are terrorists, and when Rosie was called out on it by media pundits she feels that Elisabeth didn’t appropriately defend her — much lamenting and gnashing of teeth ensued. Then that hippie-vegan Alicia Silverstone came on and dissed Elisabeth and Rosie wrote some haikus on her website. Rosie won’t be on today because her wife is celebrating her 40th birthday and they will be living it up like only (certain types of) lesbians know how: eating lots of cake.
Here’s all you need to see to get caught up.
The Fight:
The Diss:
My Response:
I don’t watch The View. A bunch of yentas yapping and squawking sounds about as appealing as have an icepick shoved in my frontal lobe. Shrill women arguing about politics based on news sound-bites is the equivalent of my kid coming home and attempting to explain the origins of man after hearing another kid say “dinosaurs used to eat man” on the playground. It’s uninformed and irritating. As is arguing with my child about why this information is inaccurate. Both groups are childish and have nary a clue, but at least my kid has the excuse of being a kid. Which if you think about it, is a pretty good excuse.
Oh, and Alicia Silverstone has no manners.
Anyway, Rosie’s a large and unappealing loud mouth who seems to fight with anyone whose opinion differs from her own. Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a pint-sized pipsqueak, who when confronted by someone as overwhelmingly oppressive as Rosie, gets completely flustered and loses her composure. Never fun to see. Now with that fight causing a rift between them, and based on Rosie’s haikus, there’s now speculation that Rosie will not finish out the remaining three weeks on her contract before she departs from the show.
I know gays love Rosie, and liberals and probably androgynous women, but whenever I see her she makes me want to run in the opposite director and shut down all of my sense receptors. She was much more palatable before she ate her way out of the closet. She is at best, anti-peristaltic.
So what is my point? I’m really not sure except less Rosie is probably a good thing. And it’s not ‘cuz she’s gay. Gay is fine, vomitus not so much.

Following your line of reasoning–here is what I deduce—if you are fat and gay you cannot express your opinion—because you will be seen as obnoxious fat and gay—-if you are petite and straight–you can express an opinion and it is just that an opinion–why do you and others equate opinions and obnoxious behaviors with being fat——–eating your way out of the closet—-gosh you sound to me like you are
FAT—and I’m glad you aren’t gay because then you might have some credibility.

I was mortified at what I saw yesterday, and hope that they can both work it out somehow. Rosie is under the false impression that she speaks for the world, and that Elisabeth is alone in her thinking. Elisabeth has taken a lot of crap from that ridiculous woman, and she has been classy through it all. As for Donna’s comment…you obviously don’t watch The View. It seems as if being fat, gay, loud, and hypocritical is the ONLY requirement to being believed on that show. It’s practically 100% Rosie’s show. She makes all the anouncements, commercials, segues and has the MOST air time to talk about ALL of her opinions…and LOUDLY! People with small minds don’t realize that Rosie does not research her facts before spouting her opinion, and is consequently wrong most of the time. Some people don’t realize that just because someone is stating their opinion the loudest, doesn’t mean that they should have any more credibility than anyone else. Case in point: Alicia Silverstone’s behavior. It was low class, and showed that Rosie’s opinion sways a lot of ignorant people.
As for me, I hate her opinion,….but I will, (as a patriotic American) defend her right to have it…She should just know that she (contrary to popular belief) DOES NOT speak for everyone…just herself.

Donna,
Rosie being fat, gay and obnoxious has zero to do with her opinion, it’s that fact that uses these things as an excuse for why she gets criticized - as for her opinions - they are often uninformed - yet she spouts them as though they were presented on stone tablets to Moses.
Her opinions are stupid and she absolutely unequivocally implied our troops were terrorists. That shit is beyond the pale. If you are going to say some kind of lame crap like that, then b*tch better be ready to own up to it. Why should Elisabeth defend her ass when she can’t even defend her ass. And Elisabeth should tell Rosie to shut the fuck up and close her piehole. I wouldn’t take any guff from Rosie, or any uninformed dumbass for that matter. The show is stupid.
As for being gay - I could care less whether Rosie’s gay, but being grotesquely unappealing, that I care about. She’s the most unfeminine and coarse famous person out there. I think Rosanne Barr is equally disgusting for the same reason.
It’s not the fat, it’s the foul way they present themselves. Hey look at me, I am an uncouth pig who doesn’t care how I come across. I will scream in your face in you don’t like my opinion. No class, zero.

Rosie DOES speak for many in this country. Elisabeth has her point of view spewed on Faux news 1,000 times a day and I’m sick of hearing it. This administration is evil. Thank you for saying it, Rosie !!

Rosie thinks she’s right on every level! She’s always quick to point out everyone elses flaws and faults,(i.e. Kelly Ripa, Trump, American Idol, etc.) but never is MAN enough to say when she is in the wrong. SO glad little Elisabeth stood up to that arrogant witch. I can only imagine what they say to each other when the camera’s stop rolling if that’s how they act on TV! She needs to shut her trap once and for all. The View is a joke - it should’ve been called “Rosie’s Point of VIEW” since it’s all that seems to matter. Glad to see her go - get someone else in there that is rational. AND she can shove her “republican comments” up her big fat hairy a** ! Even republicans don’t approve of everything that is going on with the war. SO she can stop it with her DEM vs REP crap. It’s like if your a republican you’re not allowed to have an opinion in her eyes - it doesn’t matter if you are making a good point or not. Hey Rosie the next time YOU have a thought….. let it go !

Alicia Silverstone is a big fat nobody! She’s got some nerve snubbing Elisabeth. That’s just wrong. The way she hugged Rosie, I thought she might just go down on her !!

Rosie brought a 20% increase in ratings with her to the show. Mind you the show will probably be canceled after she leaves, I mean why watch then? She is right in everything she says. She doesn’t need those harpies anyway. Alicia was right to snub the neoconazi Elisabeth.
Oh and Alicia has a production company if you do the math. Just because you rarely see her in front of the camera doesn’t mean she isnt making bank ok. Gah.
Comment by Me — May 24, 2007 @ 5:08 pm
hey ME …. you’re about as ignorant as they come! Don’t give a hoot about Alicia’s apparent career behind the camera… she still has no class. WHY is she right to snub Elisabeth? Because she doesn’t agree with her? sounds like a mini Rosie (if you can imagine that… rosie and mini in the same sentence). Furthermore the View probably won’t do as well without the loud mouth fat a** on the show. BUT who really cares. We all know it’s a ratings game out there. This is why there are no longer boundries when it comes to TV. People do and say whatever they want and who cares if it offends anyone else.

Alicia Silverstone have very poor manners! Shame on her! As it reflects poorly on her parents and her upbringing!
Comment by Mem — May 24, 2007 @ 6:12 pm
The problem I have with Rosie is that she presents her “opinions” as if they are fact, and anyone who disputes her, she attacks them because she cannot reasonably defend her “opinions.” And as far as Alicia Silverstone goes that was just plain rude and classless. She should have at least shaken Elizabeth’s hand. She was, after all, a guest on a show on which Elizabeth is a co-host. Just because Alicia doesn’t agree with Elizabeth doesn’t give her the right to be rude to her on national tv.

Alicia who?
Comment by Sue — May 25, 2007 @ 1:30 am
Alicia Silverstone-animal and environmental activist who lives in a eco friendly house, is a vegan, drives a Toyota Prius. e.g. Practices what she “believes in.” Background-actress and former model.
Elizabeth Hasselbeck-”supports” the troops and the Iraq War but has not enlisted and has no military history of her OWN in this war. e.g stays safe at home.
Background-loser in a reality show.

bush can and should probably give a recommendation for fox tv to take in elisabeth.she rewarded her with an invite to a whitehouse dinner.abc will be foolish to keep her now anyway.she has managed to show the tv viewers of her ignorant bias.poor timing to be pregnant.

Sad that celebrities promoting “diplomatic solutions” as opposed to military ones have not a diplomatic bone in their bodies, resorting to name-calling and public snubbings. So much easier to talk the talk than walk the walk.
Comment by French — May 25, 2007 @ 5:40 am
Shame on Alicia, What she did does indeed reflect on her family, but does not necessarily reflect on her past parental upbringing. I firmly believe that she made the decision on her own, without parental approval to show us what a rude child she truly can be. There are more “controlled” ways to express your opinion. She was a guest on this show and in no way did she behave as one. Shame on you Alicia, Shame. I will pray for you.

Who is it rude to snub? Is it ok to snub anyone?
People I would snub:
Holocaust denier, global warming denier, employer that used child exploitive child labor, criminals, war mongers, President Bush and other IDIOTS THAT BELIEVE THAT THIS WAR SHOULD CONTINUE. This is just to name a few. Its funny that some people think that its rude to “snub” someone just because they have a different opinion… Why else would you snub someone? If you’re passionate about your opinion and someone holds a contrary opinion that you consider to be borderline criminal then snub away. If you’re pro war or even a Republican at this point, go have your head examined then buy the book “Overthrow,” it will change your mind pretty quick.

I feel Rosie’s comments all season have been very inaccurate and extremely biased to the radical far left, which do not represent the majority of Americans, and they also seem beneath Barbara Walter’s standards. I don’t think it’s fair to call it “THE VIEW” when there is only one conservative against 3 or 4 liberals. I hope they replace Rosie with another conservative, so the discussions are actually balanced. IF they do that, I might tune back in, but if they don’t, I am deleting the show from my TIVO line up. Rosie can say she supports the troops all day long, but it is hard to believe she doesn’t understand how her comments DO offend them and demoralize them… which is not supportive. Anyone familiar with the phrase words MEAN things?
Comment by Lori — May 25, 2007 @ 6:31 pm
Why do many of the people responding here think it’s okay to resort to ad hominem attacks on Rosie (or even Elizabeth or Alicia, for that matter)? This is America, for Pete’s sake, and we have the right to voice our opinions without being called ignorant, loud, fat, idiotic, etc. This country has seen a tremendous change in the past several year — when all of a sudden it became unpatriotic to honestly voices one’s opinion. How sad.
Also, someone should explain how keeping our troops in Iraq is “supporting” them. The current administration lied to the American public about the reasons we invaded Iraq and our military men and women are paying the price.
Comment by Rene — May 26, 2007 @ 1:09 am
I think we all have a right to express the way we feel…and the view is that kind of show. We tune in to see how those 4 feel about world issues (part of the show anyway). I dont see where it is right to attack anyone for their opinion if it is different than our own. I dont care if Eliziabeth is a christian white girl and I dont care what size Rosie is or who she goes to bed with. I don’t think it is fair to attack our president who is doing the best he can (who ever the man is). We only get part of the story and then it is tainted by the view of who is reporting it. We all have forgot all the threats that were made by Sadam and more like him long before 911. We only remember what is put in front of us on the news. Each has right to their opinion but rudeness is not a right and is wrong no matter where it comes from.

I am not American; born and bred in Australia. However, the fool that runs my contry, John Howard, is President Bush’s ass-kiss lackey.. So I have to out up with much of the same crap you Americans who are sick of Bush put up with.
Alicia Silverstone: Excellent. Go team.. I completly respect her for her vegan beliefs and her idealism and she has every right to express her views whatever way she chooses. She was not nasty but in her own way, showed her political alliance.
Rosie can go a bit too far at times, but I agree with nearly everything she has said politically over the course of her time on the show.
Elisabeth is such a gorgeous woman, so sweet but I think to a certain extent, she uses that - big, butch, loud Rosie is picking on me… Pity me… Blah blah. Even the biggest conservatives can afmit to some of Bush’s flaws yet not Elisabeth! Gah!
Comment by Lee — May 26, 2007 @ 10:09 pm
Opinions are fine… that’s what that show is all about, mildly entertaining people voicing equally entertaining points of VIEW.
Unfortunately, Rosie is like the 5-year-old kid who overhears her parents discussing current events and then, on the playground, tells the other kids what’s what. Elizabeth tries to be more “intellectual” than that but let’s face it… these people all need to be discussing fashion or movies or celebrities or recipes, etc.
