And I do believe that her parents, in their desire to give her all the things she wants, neglected to give her the one thing that a parent can give a child that truly shows love for that child….discipline. Without the discipline of the parent, the child can never truly learn self-discipline. Paris, in her public escapades, has shown that she has no self-discipline and she also has no clue that the boundaries of the world at large also apply to her. Treating a grown woman, who is almost thirty years old, like she’s a little hothouse flower is not right. Paris is a grown woman….but neither one’s physical age nor one’s ability to move out nor one’s ability to drive or sign checks or vote constitutes adulthood and maturity and being “grown up”. Paris has lived in a bubble of her own making for so long that she honestly has no clue of the real world.

Does she then deserve a harsher sentence than the average person? No….but, again, she also doesn’t deserve a lesser one either.

I have no desire to see harm come to her, so don’t lump me in with those people. Nowhere have I said that I want something bad to happen to her. I just want her to serve her time that the judge said she should serve………which is what anyone else would have to do. And let’s face it….when she gets out she’ll still go back to a luxury that other inmates there will never, ever know in their wildest dreams.

I don’t see what the fuss is about concerning her. I don’t think she’s particularly pretty, nor does she present herself as being too intelligent, and it seems all she has going for her is a thin body and lots of money. But I don’t hate Paris. In fact, I feel sorry for her, that she has never had the opportunity to become a woman, instead of a perpetual teenage joke. But maybe, just maybe, this could make her realize that there is life, good and bad, beyond the latest new fashion or party. And maybe she’ll think twice before going to get behind the wheel after she’s been drinking.

(1) As I understand it, it’s a matter of California statute and policy for prosecutors to seek 45 days’ jail time in DUI probation violations. I also understand that there was a possible two-year sentence in the cards for Ms. Hilton.

Unless you’re certain that I’m not correct, you’re certainly jumping to conclusions in suggesting the judge overreacted, aren’t you?

(2)I don’t know if Mario (Comment 7) got his 45-day sentence in California, but if he did (and maybe if he didn’t), he has every right to resent the suggestion that Paris’ was too severe. And every right to resent the fact that she damn near got off with less.

(3) Even if I’m wrong on points 1 and 2, Chelsea in comment #1 certainly gives food for thought. IS the judge making an example of Paris? Or is he just giving her a sentence of sufficient gravity to finally get it into her thick, empty little skull? The evidence at hand suggests to me that it’s the latter, in which case the judge should frankly get an award for doing his job with real dedication.

(God knows he deserves SOME kind of consolation prize, seeing as how he’s undoubtedly blacklisted from ever staying at a Hilton hotel again.)
