Britney Hates The “Rag Mags”? Not Necessarily.

More on how Brit spent her day after dropping her boys off at Kevin’s later.  Right now, I want to address the issue of Britney Spears versus the Paparazzi.  It seems like every time we turn around, Britney is begging the press and the ever-present paps to leave her alone, because she just wants to live her life in peace.  Or…does she?

Not according to columnist Bill Zwecker of the Chicago Sun-Times.  He spoke with an anonymous source who claims to be a former insider of the Spears camp.  This source claims that the paparazzi are purposefully tipped off as to where Britney will be that day, basically ensuring photos of her.  Zwecker also spoke with key employees of certain high-profile hotels in the area, who claim that Brit or one of her staff calls daily to find out press activities going on at their hotel involving stars, because if you have famous people you have paps there to take pictures of them.  Britney then makes sure to show up, guaranteeing that she will be photographed.  According to the Sun-Times:

“Britney is obsessed with keeping herself in the public eye. She has told me several times, “If they don’t see you [in the media], they forget you…. I’m not going to let that happen!’ ”

Part of this is Spears’ love-hate relationship with the paparazzi who trail her every move. While she has frequently complained about the pesky shutterbugs (to Matt Lauer, etc.), she recently has joked with the paparazzi and even has invited a few to hang out with her during various encounters in clubs and restaurants around L.A.

No wonder the paps always seem to have photos of her driving.  However, sometimes this little half-baked plan blows up in Brit’s face:

A harried staffer at the Four Seasons told me she purposely told the entertainer “we were holding a [press] junket here for ‘Rendition,’ ” starring Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal, who allegedly have been having a fling. In fact, those interviews took place Friday at the Beverly Wilshire, so when Spears arrived at the Four Seasons, there were no paparazzi to be seen.

“Britney walked in the front door and immediately turned on her heel, walked out and got back in her car and took off in a huff,” said my source, with a laugh.

It is also rumored that she has deals with certain agencies, guaranteeing them exclusive photos and access.  I always wondered why certain sites were so favorable of Britney in their reporting, constantly slanting things her way, even when her life was so obviously going off the rails on the crazy train.  Pantyless photos don’t just post themselves, you know.

So for all those teary declarations that the press just won’t leave her alone, we have this.  Those photographs of her looking disheveled and stoned?  Yeah, she probably arranged for the photographers to be wherever she was.  Those pictures earlier this week of Sean and Jayden crying and upset as they are taken in and out of cars and restaurants?  Yuppers, mommy could have set up those photo-ops too.  Any publicity is good publicity, right?  After all, what harm could possibly come from having the paps take photos of her driving her children around?

  5. It’s all media man. It’s just simply media. That’s all and that is enough no matter what it is, whether it be good or bad.
