Britney’s Woes: Court Monitor Miffed, Photog Clipped, Backup Dancers Stiffed
Just another day in the life of Miss Britney Spears, y’all.
Where do we start? You’ll recall that the original order was for Brit to have visitation about once every two days, all to be supervised by a monitor appointed by the court, who was to then take notes and report back to the judge. Brit successfully petitioned for one overnight visit a week, only to have all visits taken away in short order because of noncompliance with the judge’s order (presumably, nobody could reach her). That was quickly enough remedied and Brit was spotted out this weekend with her kids and the monitor. But apparently, the monitor isn’t as impressed by Brit and her paparazzi-loving lifestyle as Britney herself is, and turned in a scathing report to the judge:
The paperwork, filed under seal to LA Superior Court, claims that “[Spears, 25] paid her [monitor] no attention or respect at all, as if she were some employee whom she could blow off,†the source says.
“Britney’s often distracted and in her own world when she has the kids [Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1] and has a hard time focusing,†the insider adds. “She is adamant that she doesn’t have to listen to anybody — that it’s her way or the highway.”
Parenting sessions had previously been at Spears’ residence, the source says, but the coach now wants meetings to take place at her office. “She doesn’t want all the distractions, whether it’s the paparazzi or whatever else is going on,†the source says.
This report says that Brit is tired of dealing with old farts and white-boy rappers, and wants to be back in charge:
“Britney still believes that she, and only she, knows what’s best for her and her kids,†a source close to the custody battle between the Toxic singer and her ex-hubby Kevin Federline reveals to OK!. “She wants the boys living with her, without any outside monitor or coach interfering. She’s sick of dealing with lawyers and the court. She wants her old life back where she was in charge and telling everybody what to do.â€
However, those close to the mother of Sean Preston, 2, and one-year-old Jayden James, don’t seem to have anywhere near the confidence in her parenting abilities as she does. “She is confused beyond words,” one family source confesses in the new issue of OK! — on sale Thursday. “She just wants her kids back and a normal life but doesn’t have a clue how to realistically make that happen.â€
There are also reports that when Brit does have the kids, she’s not paying attention to them:
The report, which was presented to the court yesterday and will be critical in determining if Spears should regain 50/50 custody, concludes that Britney often ignores her kids and lives in her own little world — that Britney often disappeared and wasn’t around the kids or the coach. We’re told the coach has said Brit spends a lot of time on the phone and changing clothes.
This could be a major setback for Brit in her quest to regain joint custody, but I can’t say that I’m surprised. She honestly believes it is her world, we just live in it. She has this warped sense of reality and she just can’t hack it when that vision of her reality is disturbed. Whether it is due to drugs, her superstar upbringing, her spoiled attitude, or a combination, it isn’t looking good for Brit right now.
She has also clipped another photographer who got too close to her car:
A blue-eyed Britney Spears hit yet another photographer with her car yesterday — and the incident left Spears an apologizing, nervous wreck.
Cameras caught Spears on her way out of Beverly Connection on Monday, where she accidentally ran into a pap with her Benz. Though the photog kept saying it was his fault, Spears repeatedly apologized, at one point looking as if she were about to cry. Of course, she could still have pink eye.
Spears then took refuge at at the Beverly Wilshire hotel with her latest assistant.
Now this one, I’m not so sure we can pin on Brit. Have you see what happens when she shows up somewhere? Around fifty photographers swarm her car, even in traffic at stoplights, putting themselves and other drivers at risk. For his part, the photographer repeatedly tells Brit it was his fault, that he wasn’t paying attention, and that very well may be so. Brit, though, looks very upset and appears to start crying. She looks like she’s feeling the stress of things more than might be readily apparent. But what is it with the motels? And how sad is it that she has to pay someone to be her friend?
Last, her backup dancers for the VMA’s are saying they haven’t received all of their hazard pay:
A source says they have yet to be fully compensated for their work leading up to the September 9 event. “The dancers were paid for the actual show and some of the rehearsals, but not all of them,†an industry insider tells Us. The problem may stem from Spears’ being dropped by her management agency, The Firm, on September 17.
“Her management usually pays the dancers,†explains the source. McDonald/Selznick Associates, which booked the hoofers, had no comment.
This one I know we can’t pin on Brit. It isn’t like these stars carry around their checkbooks and write people checks for services rendered. Their “people” take care of details like that. Unfortunately for Britney, she doesnt seem to have very many “people” left…it seems to be a revolving door at Promote Britney, Inc. Would somebody pay these dancers, already? They definitely earned it.
All in all, at the moment, Brit’s life is no bed of roses. And, in a way, it can all be traced back to her poor decisions. She didn’t have to do stupid things that made her management agency quit. She doesn’t have to court the paps every time she wants to drive around aimlessly. And she for sure didn’t have to treat the court monitor like a leper. It just makes you wonder how much farther she has to fall in this never-ending chasm before she hits bottom.

“Back in charge” of what?? Almost everyone on this planet knows that you can’t tell a 2 year-old what to do. You can’t treat an 18 month-old like he’s on the payroll. When they need you, you have to attend to them. You can keep them waiting for a few minutes until you get off the toilet, or finish making the mac and cheese, or get the clothes out of the dryer, but when they want something they want it now, and usually don’t take no for an answer.
Kinda like Britney, in a way.
I’m sure if the kids had some emotional stability from the get-go, they’d be able to handle all the rest of the commotion that comes with being Britney’s kids — just look at little Violet Affleck, Suri Cruise or any of the Brangelina kids — they don’t bat an eyelash when there are paps all around, or when throngs of people are screaming for them or their parents. My guess is it’s because those kids have grown up feeling nurtured, loved, safe and secure and instinctively know that mommy and/or daddy aren’t going to let anything happen to them. SP and JJ on the other hand…
