When Daniel died, I truly believed Howard caused his death. My friends told me I was crazy and being conspiracy minded. It was my belief that Daniel was the only thing that stood between Stern and his total control of Anna. Daniel was a liability to Stern. Proven when after Daniel's death, it came out that Daniel had wanted to hire a private detective because he believed Stern was controlling his mom using drugs. Then Anna died. And how she died, in her bed with a horrific fever, crapping all over herself.....this is not how someone is "cared for" by someone who loves them. Calling an ambulance would have been an easy thing to do and she was in no position to fight them. But STern didn't. He either let her die or helped her. Why? Because he didn't need Anna anymore. He had Dannielynn. Anna had 'married" Stern, told the world she was his baby. The money would come through Dannielynn. No need for Anna anymore. The only thing Stern didn't count on in all of this was Birkheads decision to fight for the child he believed to be his and that in the Bahama's, where the US has no jurisdiction, Birkhead would not only be heard but win his case and take away the last tie to the money.

Stern got more than a half million for Anna's diaries. And now he's filed the motion to get a portion of the proceeds of Dannielynn's money from Marshall's estate, not to mention his "executor of the will" fees from Anna's estate, and his filing for Dannielynn to be the sole heir of Anna's estate. Stern is a monster whose adoration of Anna turned to bitterness and hatred and ultimately was fueled solely by greed and self preservation.

#21: I didn't mention it in the article because I was unsure if HKS was being faceteous or serious. Why would he tell ANS that the footage he was shooting of her stoned would be worth money? Why put that on tape?

Personally, I didn't think that one snippet was as important as the other things going on.

Ford may be an exceptional parent in every other area, but in this case he DID make a bad decision. And that's the thing....even those people who are relatively well-adjusted, sane, sober, and intelligent will make the occasional bad decision and show unsound judgement. It happens. It doesn't mean he's some sort of monster...he's just a guy who made a bad decision on this day. Yes, I do wonder why he would leave his daughter alone with these people...okay, take ANS out of the picture for a minute, what about HKS?

ANS's drug problems started before she met Howard and continued on until her death. Howard, it would seem, facilitated those problems. Yes, ANS should bear some personal responsibility in her own bad decision-making. Nobody tied her down and made her take drugs when she was younger. Nobody made her marry J. Howard Marshall. Nobody forced her to make her TV show. Nobody made her get pregnant with Dannielynn. From all accounts, she was a very strong-willed woman.

But there does come a point in any substance abuser's journey when that line becomes blurry...when self-control and being controlled become intermixed. If she was so immersed in drugs, it wouldn't be hard for HKS to keep her there. And I don't see ANS as having a huge amount of self-control (that's different from strong will), so I don't see her resisting for long any suggestion of Howard's concerning taking drugs.

But but...yes, she should have put her foot down and quit, detoxed, rehabbed, whatever it took. Why didn't she?

I don't think HKS is 100% guilty, but I don't think he's totally innocent either. I don't think anyone is 100% guilty, I think they all fed off each other. Except, perhaps, for Daniel, and since he was so secretive and private (can you blame him?) we don't know a lot of what he did, and even that is jumbled depending on who you talk to.

Everybody can share the blame here, there's more than enough to go around.

It's no surprise that Stern is now going after part of the Marshall fortune--he's a greedy synchophant who cares about no one but himself. I am so glad that the chances of him (or anyone else) getting a cent from the Marshalls is negligibe.

This video really is despicable and as much as I know that Geraldo has pretty much always been out to get Howard K Stern this was like shooting fish in a barrel. Geraldo didn't have to reach too far to portray Stern in a bad light in this instance. No matter what the purpose of making this video the fact remains that it is disturbing and with Stern as cameraman he must have had some devious motive. His filing to get his 6% of the Marshall money is not surprising. I think that has been what this has all been about all along. It is too bad that after all the effort he exerted to try and get his hands on that money that it is extremely doubtful that he'll see any of it. The legal analysis on the news that I have seen seems to indicate that there isn't hardly any chance of Larry or Howard or little Dannielynn recovering any money from the Marshall's.

He said it to her incoherent face - and on camera. The two of them had been working together since Howard Marshall died to find ways of making money. Why does that implicate him in her death? Sure he's creepy, manipulative and greedy - but so are the lot of them. They both lived in a warped and strange world. If HKS did indeed kill Daniel and Anna the truth will come out - there are far too many pictures, tapes, diaries and witnesses for it not to.

hey everyone...throughout all of these comments no one bothered to mention HKS's background comment on how much money the video was going to be worth.it sure seems as if he had a definite hand in her substance abuse. i was of the mindset that he was trying to help her but it is obvious that he has to be responsible for her death. at least the supply of drugs to keep her in the state she was in until her death. i sure hope he is held accountable. i also hope his 6% of her late husband's estate is not awarded to him as well.

I just reread some of L's responses and I have some serious questions to pose - since when is it ok to validate a person's actions as a whole with the statement that they were sober and sane in the 5th and 6th month of a pregnancy? Isn't it a well known fact that you should be sober throughout? And what about the statement that she wasn't high 24/7, just when she was with Howard....I find this highly doubtful. Again, she had a WELL documented drug problem before he came into the picture - and you know if he was such a Rasputin I doubt she would have been susceptible to him had she been in her right mind....but or arguments sake let's say you are right and ANS only did drugs with HKS. How does that fact justify leaving your 9 year old child with someone you KNOW to be a drug abuser? I guess Ford Shelly had no idea that HKS was present? Whatever. The whole thing is sad and EVERYONE except Dannilynn and Daniel is to blame. ANS is no exception.

I think #15 may be referring to some of what I said - and I stand by my comments. ANS problems (like K said) were well documented and continual. I find it frustrating that ANS's friends and family come out of the woodwork to defend her actions no matter what. HKS was an enabler, her may even be an evil person - maybe he is guilty of all you say he is but it does not negate ANS responsibility as a woman in her own right and it does not excuse her as a parent - or an expectant parent.

There are choices to be made in life - whether or not you want to see that - and sometimes it's a tough pill to swallow - but no one tied her down and forced her to do drugs. There is help available to those that need it. I am not saying that her demons (mental/substance or otherwise) did not make it a life long fight but from the very public footage available it did not appear to be a fight she took seriously.

As a parent there is no way in hell I would allow my 9 year old daughter to visit ANS unsupervised - Past or present problems aside, as you yourself said L, substance abuse is a disease. I hate to say this but she proved herself over a period of 10 years to be someone with very serious issues. Why would you EVER leave a 9 year old over there alone?

I don't believe I was being harsh with him. I never said I believed he was a horrible parent. I simply said that I thought he made a bad decision on this particular day. I said I would not send my kid to a house like that. And I wouldn't. ANS's problems were well-known at this point and I question his judgement in this case, but that doesn't mean I think he is some sort of monster.

But if you reread the article, you'll not find anywhere where I said Ford is a bad parent. I did say it was a shame all of this had to take place in front of a nine-year-old girl, but that is more Howard's fault, not Ford's. I never said that I thought Ford was a bad father, take a look at the article again. Even though I question his decision, I tried to be fair in the article. At least he did come forward with the tape, that says something.

But if you reread the article, you’ll not find anywhere where I said Ford is a bad parent. I did say it was a shame all of this had to take place in front of a nine-year-old girl, but that is more Howard’s fault, not Ford’s. I never said that I thought Ford was a bad father, take a look at the article again. Even though I question his decision, I tried to be fair in the article. At least he did come forward with the tape, that says something.
