Just In Time For Halloween, Dina Lohan Starts Filming New Reality Series Tomorrow
Wonder what sort of candy she gives out? Or if she lets Ali dress up like big sis for trick-or-treat?
Hold onto your credit cards, Dina Lohan is starting work on a new reality series for E! tomorrow, and it promises to be a doozy:
Get ready to see a lot more of the Lohans. Filming is set to begin Oct. 30 on the untitled E! reality TV series primarily starring Dina Lohan, and her singer-actress daughter Ali, Dina Lohan tells PEOPLE.
The first shoots will take place in New York City and Long Island, N.Y.
“There are so many misconceptions about me and my family,†says Dina. “I’m setting the record straight.â€
I wonder what misconceptions there could be about Dina? That she’s fame-hungry, that she will do anything for money, that she wants to turn her children into stars?
The Lohan matriarch, who will serve as the show’s executive producer, tells PEOPLE she wants the show to empower single mothers, by illustrating her own life as a working mom. “It’s about empowering women to be successful single mothers. About being in the limelight without compromising motherhood. It’s about what I do, how you can be successful, and be a single mom and fulfilling your kids’ dreams. Working is my sole source of income.â€
And viewers will see the many sides of Dina, who will begin managing other performers’ careers: “It won’t just be following my family around like other shows. It’ll show me cultivating careers, going to soccer practice. I’m a big supporter of domestic violence charities, so they’ll show that. Then they’ll show [my son] Cody at soccer practice. Ali going to school and in the studio. It’ll encompass everything. You’ll see me having five business meetings in the city.â€
Ooh. Scintillating stuff. That’s an award-winning episode, that one. “In tonight’s episode, watch Dina as she negotiates the media manipulation of her youngest daughter, attends her son’s soccer practice, shuttles her daughter from school to recording, and still has time to bake cookies for the school bake sale!” Can she do that in high heels?
And we know working is her sole source of income. We also know that she gets a cut of what Lindsay makes, since she’s Lindsay’s “momager”.
In case you can’t tell, Dina isn’t one of my favorite celeb moms. She’s too busy trying to be her children’s ”momager” instead of just being the mother they need. And, according to Vanity Fair, she not only wants to be their “momager”, she wants her share of the spotlight all to herself:
Perhaps more disturbing than wanting to be her daughter’s friend, Dina Lohan also wants to share the spotlight—at least according to those who have spent time with the two of them. “This is a woman who jumps into her daughter’s makeup chair before the premiere.… Her message to everyone is basically ‘Lindsay would be nothing without me,’” says a Hollywood producer familiar with the two of them. “And now she’s going to do this show where she shows how she’s making her other daughter, Ali, a star. It’s like she’s saying, ‘Look, I can do this with any kid.’ … Her deal isn’t ‘I want my kid to be rich and famous.’ It’s ‘I want to be my kid.’”
Not only that, but she has consistently turned a blind eye to Lindsay’s problems, considering them a normal part of growing up. She once told Lindsay’s then-agent Adam Venit to “f**k off” and fired him when he insisted that Dina get her daughter some help for her obvious problems. And don’t even think about asking Dina to instill something like accountability in her daughter, because everything is the fault of someone else…the paparazzi, the media, her ex Michael, but certainly not hers and definitely not Lindsay’s.
One more telling quote from the Vanity Fair interview:
And yet Lohan, like Kathy Hilton, does not appear to have a close personal relationship with reality. “Lindsay’s no different than any other 20-year-old girl who’s doing some experimenting,” Dina says to me during our brief phone conversation, which took place several days before Lindsay, fresh out of rehab, got arrested again, this time for D.U.I. and cocaine possession. “It’s just that when we did this kind of thing we didn’t have cameras turned on us all the time. What were you doing when you were 20, for goodness’ sake?” I didn’t have the heart to say, Well, not crashing my Mercedes into a tree! But nor was I beautiful, talented, and surrounded by people who couldn’t say no to me.
Well, I”m not sure what Dina was doing when she was twenty, but I know what I was doing, and it wasn’t the kind of crap Lindsay pulled before her latest stint in rehab. Yeah, I did some pretty dumb things, totally stupid things, but I had to be held accountable when I did them. To give Lindsay credit, I believe that is what she’s doing, and I think she’s sincerely trying to pull her life back together again. And if she does, it will be no thanks to mom.
Don’t get me wrong…Lindsay is an adult, and she has to take responsibility for the mistakes she’s made in her life. Just because someone has a bad upbringing doesn’t absolve them of responsibility for their actions. But it’s so much harder to do when one has to overcome baggage like this.
And now Dina has Ali on the same road. God help that child…she’s going to need it.

Dina is the WORST celeb mother EVER. And she has a lot of people she’s in competition with, so that’s really saying something.

wow! now the public can get the real story as to why lindsay is the way she is. and E! will have public documentation to back up what a poor parent she is. when people go around and tell you how great they are is because they generally suck all the time. i am quite sure many questions will be asked regarding her credibility as a “momager” seeing she has none as a parent.

Sheesh, as if f*cking up one child isn’t enough, she’s got to ruin the rest of them as well.
I especially like:
“About being in the limelight without compromising motherhood.”
Oh, is THAT what they’re calling it these days?
Note to self: do not read stories about Dina Lohan so soon after eating.
