I doubt the existance of these tapes. Although I have witnesses abusive relationships, here are my reasons why its unlikely for Linda:

1) She was a strong-willed woman who wouldn’t put up with abuse, if it existed.
2) They had a very loving and caring relationship. Paul is such a sweetheart too. You can just tell he wouldn’t hurt her, he loved her so much
3) If such abuse did exist, would his kids not comment on it by now? They haven’t because there was no abuse.

As a survivor of an abusive marriage, I’m disappointed that the public has such an appalling lack of knowledge about the dynamics of abuse– and it appears that abuse is at the cornerstone of Ms. Mill’s divorce from Sir Paul. YES, it is possible for abuse to be covered up over a long-standing period… and NO, an abuser doesn’t have to be drunk in order to admit hitting a former spouse. I, too, considered taping arguments with my ex towards the end of our marriage… and precisely for the same reason- I felt nobody would believe me. If I taped, I’d be within my rights to expect him to own up or face exposure, just as Ms. Mills apparently did. Trouble was, his explosions were so hard to predict that I couldn’t tape. Of course a few idiots here would think it would say “more about me” than him. And since I didn’t, I have no proof & my accusations are simply unfounded. Gee whiz..she can’t win.

I have trouble imagining a context in an argument where a person would admit to hitting his dead wife, unless he was intoxicated and/or goaded into saying it. The mere fact that Mills would record private conversations with her husband makes me doubt her intentions very highly. The existence of such a tape says more about her than him I think, which is probably why her PR person and lawyers and whatnot all advised her not to do anything with it.

Paul & Linda McCartney always seemed to have a marriage that was a very strong partnership. With Linda I always got the impression of a strong woman who was content to allow her husband to bask in the spotlight while she happily did her own thing. I think Heather Mills thought of his reflected spotlight as her own.

I take your doubts about this “tape” further. She first talked about it a year and it never surfaced. No one has seemingly heard it. Now we’re supposed to believe that she’s content to rant and scream on TV but so dignified as to not use the one single thing that would actually get people to believe her? At the very least wouldn’t it be something to give your LAWYER?

But what clinches it for me is that she’s claiming to have played it for a room full of journalists but conveniently “off camera.” And yet NONE of them made it a story? Why is the only “source” an “unnamed witness” who nattered to a tabloid? You’re telling me that no British journalist in the room who heard this supposed tape would think of running immediately back to their own editor and gladly put their name on such a massive story? Because British journalists are known for being so low-key and respectful? Come on.
