Nick Hogan Bollea Whatever Arrested, Was Drinking Before Accident
Finally, a police department got it right when it comes to a celebrity. Nick Hogan Bollea Whatever his name is turned himself in to the police today and was arrested. The charges stem from the accident which put his passenger, Marine John Graziano, in the hospital with serious brain damage:
Bollea, 17, was at the wheel of a speeding yellow Toyota Supra that went out of control and slammed, rear-bumper first, into a palm tree in the median on Court Street, officials say. The wreck critically injured Bollea’s friend and passenger, 22-year-old John Graziano. The Supra, which was owned by Bollea’s famous father, was totaled (see photo from the crash at right).
Reckless driving with serious bodily injury is a third-degree felony. In addition to that charge, authorities cited Bollea with using a motor vehicle in commission of a felony, being a driver under 21 operating a vehicle with a breath-alcohol level of .02 percent or higher and having illegal window tinting. The blood-alcohol level at which Florida law presumes a driver to be impaired is .08 percent.
Police said today that Bollea’s car was going faster than 60 mph at the time of the crash. The speed limit on that stretch of road is 40 mph.
Authorities have said from the start that speed was a factor in the crash. In the days after the wreck, witnesses told the Times and investigators that they saw Bollea’s Supra racing a silver Dodge Viper on the rain-slick road moments before the crash.
Authorities have also cited another driver, Daniel Aaron Jacobs, in the accident. Allegedly, his vehicle and Nick’s were racing on wet streets when the accident occurred. Witnesses have said from the beginning that the yellow Supra (aka “The P*ssy Magnet”) was racing with another car just prior to the accident.
His defense attorneys have issued a statement:
“Nick and the entire Hogan-Bollea family are saddened that criminal charges have been filed in regards to the tragic single-car accident on Aug. 26, 2007. Nick will meet and answer these charges in the appropriate arena — a court of law. The family’s primary focus and concern still remains for the continued recovery of Nick’s longtime friend, John Graziano. The Bolleas will also continue to stand by the Graziano family and help them in any way they can.
“The tragedy to both families is compounded by the fact that unfortunately, John was not wearing a seat belt,” the attorney’s statement continued. “Thankfully, Nick was wearing his. Because of what happened to John, the entire Bollea family will make it a priority to increase public awareness of the importance of always wearing your seat belt.
“There has been much speculation as to the speed and the wet road conditions surrounding this accident,” Weinberg and Hayslett added. “Although all the evidence has not been evaluated, preliminary reports from the experts indicate this was not, in fact, a high-speed accident.
“Because Nick is still a juvenile and has no prior criminal record, we are disappointed that we are being charged as an adult offender,” the attorneys said. “However, we are confident that the evidence will demonstrate that this was an accident. We ask all who follow these events to keep and open mind as to the facts until they have been ultimately determined. Finally, we thank all who have prayed for John’s recovery and ask for your continued support and prayers.”
Well, I’ve gone about as far as I can in this article being objective, and now I’m just mad.
First of all, Nicky Boy and his clueless family are sad that their son has been charged in this accident. Well, isn’t that nice. Tell that to the Graziano family, who are undoubtedly sad that their son is looking forward to a future of occasionally opening his eyes, and then closing his eyes, and then perhaps later opening his eyes again, and then closing his eyes again. But the statement that they are so thankful Nick was wearing his seat belt rings fake to me, because it lays blame at the foot of the injured Marine since he did not have his on. Should John have taken the initiative and put on his seat belt? Absolutely, no question there. But had Nick not been drinking and racing and driving recklessly, this accident might never have happened. So just blame John for his own injuries, huh? Some friends these people are turning out to be.
And just how fast does one have to be going to make an accident a “high speed accident”? They were in a 40 MPH zone. So 60 MPH in a 40 isn’t high speed? As if that makes a difference? Who cares if he was doing 60, 70, 100? He was still speeding, he was still driving with complete disregard for anyone else who might have been on the road (or indeed in his car), and he still crashed. Arguing over whether this was or was not technically a high-speed accident is pointless and takes away from the real issue.
But here’s the kicker…they are disappointed that he is being charged as an adult. Well, get over it. He was driving a lethal weapon on a city street in a dangerous manner, and this wasn’t the first time he’d done it. He completely ignored the potential danger to himself, his passenger, and anyone unlucky enough to get in his way. And he was drinking, as a seventeen-year-old kid. He put a young Marine with his whole life ahead of him in a hospital where he will never come out.
I mean, an accident is one thing. Accidents happen every day. I’ve had a couple myself. But this was a pattern with Nick…he repeatedly and willfully and knowingly broke the law. He had been warned, ticketed, and had points taken off his license.   Instead of taking away his driving privileges, all his plastic family could do is make excuses for him, and now they act like he is the one to be pitied.
Hulk Hogan should never have given his son a rocket ship to drive. He willingly gave his son these vehicles, knowing full well what sort of driver he was. He and his wife Linda have raised their children to be self-centered, materialistic, immature brats who think the world revolves around them and nothing can touch them as long as they are young, hot, and got Daddy’s money in their hip pockets. Well, Nicky is finally fixing to learn how the real world operates.
And Hulkster? Let me tell you something. You may have built your wrestling career on the premise of “I Am A Real American,” and you told kids to say their prayers and take their vitamins, and you amassed a fortune for yourself to buy houses and cars for your kids. But you failed in the most important thing a parent can do, and at the only job that really matters…raising your kids right. And now a TRUE “Real American”, fighting for the rights of every man, has paid the price for your selfishness, and that of your son.
To anyone who has ever made excuses for Nick, there is absolutely no excuse for this. No excuse you can come up with will condone underage drinking, speeding, reckless driving, and putting a young man in the hospital for life. I have yet to see true remorse from Nick, let alone the Hogan family. All they are concerned with is making excuses for his behavior.
It’s crap like this that makes me glad I grew up poor. There’s no amount of money that can buy smarts, or that can buy John’s life back.

Thank you for writing what I was thinking. I have watched Hulks show a few times and found myself watching because I couldn’t believe how terrible his kids are and his wife seemed to be just as bad. I would hate people writing about my family like this, but hopefully this will wake the entrie family up to how selfish they really are. The poor man in the hospital may not have had a seat belt on but Nick should have made him put one on if he was going to drive reckless, I hope Nick really has to pay for this terrible accident somehow, I hope he lives with it and does not buy it away mentally or physically.

What a bunch of self-serving assholes the Hogan family is.

Nick has moved on people. He is back drift racing, not even sitting out a season to grieve He feels justified because he’s convinced himself that that’s what John would be wanting him to do. He has new sponsors and new cars and he’s left John to wither in a hospital room somewhere. I can guarantee that Nick will see no jail time, or any punishment at all, other than in civil court…and Daddy is ready with wallet open to handle it. You can’t put someone in prison for being stupid and his parents have drilled it into him that it’s not his fault. Only Nick knows at night when he goes to bed, that he’s lied to everyone, and now he’s beginning to believe his own lies. Yeah nick, right, you weren’t racing like I have seen you do so many times before. Hulk’s gonna still be wrestling when he’s 80 to pay off the damage his kid has done….and rightfully so, Hulk was the enabler.

This is not California so I would expect Florida to uphold ALL, if any sentence given in court, to the fullest with out hesitation. Nick, can you say time to visit Bubba.

Although I understand everyone’s anger at Nick, I don’t think it is right to bash Linda and Hulk. Every parent does the best they can to raise their children. Rich or poor, your kids grow up and make their own choices. Let’s turn the hate into prayers for a miracle for the poor kid in a coma!

I don’t hate Terry and Linda.
I hate what they did to their children.
Have you ever read things they’ve said and done? All they can do is make excuses for their precious little son, and try to lay Nick’s share of the blame at John’s feet. Whatever!
Doing the best they can, my butt. A cat is a better mother.

I was hit 3 yr. ago by a 17 yr. old boy, who was driving too fast and lost control, I spent 31 days in the hospital, ICU included. I have to live with residual problems from all of the metal in me from the injuries incurred. Yes, accidents do happen, but if they are caused by reckless driving and speeding, add drinking into it, Nick Hogan has to pay the consequences, whatever the law says and take full responsibility for his actions. Which he is not doing, and his parents are shameful to even imply they are saddened at charges against their son, and so glad that he was wearing his seatbelt but his passenger was not, therefore implying that’s why he was so severely injured. I have seen the Hogan’s reality show and what I have witnessed is overindulgence of their two children and trying to BUY both of their children celebrity careers? We have raised two sons, and proud to say they are responsible, mature young men and college educated. We always emphasized the importance of education and responsibility for one’s own actions. Unfortunately, I do not believe Nick will change his ways judging by his parent’s attitude already, the law will have to punish him, his parents won’t, they are just making excuses for him. So Sad!!!!
