Jennifer Lopez Finally Admits The Obvious, Plans Secret Baby Shower With Christina Aguilera

jlopregmiami.jpg

Jennifer Lopez waited until the last show of her US tour to admit to us her addiction to pepperoni pizzas with extra anchovies, washed down with chocolate milkshakes and Twix candy bars.  Hence, her recent weight gain.  She says she’s “going away for a while” to detox and run on a treadmill wearing a Hefty bag.

No…she must have read my last post (I’m taking full credit), because she finally admitted to the worst-kept secret in the biz called show, that she and husband Marc Anthony are expecting:

“Marc and I are expecting a baby!” the glowing singer announced to a shocked audience.

Just as surprised? Husband (and fellow tour headliner) Marc Anthony, who shrugged his shoulders, caressed his wife’s stomach, then leaned over and kissed her belly. “I didn’t know she was going to talk,” he told the crowd.

“The whole arena went insane,” says one concert-goer. “It was awesome!”

Lopez thanked the audience for the applause and said, “We are happy, too.” She then turned sideways to reveal her profile and show off her very noticeable bump. She also playfully stuck out her tongue. [...]

“This is a special time in our lives,” Lopez said from the Florida stage. “And we waited until the last show to tell you.”

jloone.jpgUm…HELLO?  But I’m glad she at least finally admitted it.  I don’t get the reason for all the secrecy anyway.  I understand one’s expectations of privacy, and the desire to wait until everything is hopefully okay with the pregnancy…but when you’re in the public eye you really can’t hide something like this, not for long anyway.  Hopefully now that the tour is over, she will stay home and rest.  I said at the beginning that this tour wasn’t the thing to go on when one is pregnant anyway….maybe now things will slow way down.  Then she can sit at home and be a diva to Marc while lining up exclusive photo spreads with the new addition.

Best wishes to the happy couple, and we wish her a safe pregnancy and a happy, healthy baby…or two!

  3. Postponing an announcement harmed no one. All it took was a few more weeks of patience on the part of the press. Eventually, a confirmation from the expectant mom was about all it took.. Best of all, it allowed Jen and Marc some peace and quiet while preparing for the tour. Otherwise, it would have been the usual prying questions, misquotes etc. following the pregnancy announcement. Halle Berry is one of the lucky few whom the press is regularly kind toward. The media has already made plenty of bucks off Jennifer Lopez, and few cared if their stories were true or fiction. Those days are never going to return.

  5. Ahhh come on… Everybody already knew she is pregnant.. She thinks we are idiots.. hahaha
THe worst part is that the crowd at the show went insane at the announcement! Look at this video: weshow.com/us/p/22578/jennifer_lopez_confirms_pregnancy
    Ridiculous!

  7. I am happy for her. I know she wanted a baby for the longest time. I am proud of her that she waitted till she got married. I feel bad for Marc Anthony ex wife.
I do believe that J.Lo and Marc love each other alot . but what goes around comes around and Marc eventually will get his come back for hurting such a pretty and nice lady. Marc just like to make babies and leave the woman as a single mom. Poor J.LO good luck with her and her “hubby”

  9. Jennifer & Marc waited to confirm her pregnancy until the finale of their tour, out of respect and appreciation for their fans. Couples dealing with infertility will also understand. The media wanted to have a field day with this, but had to back off because nothing was admitted and it is, after all, personal. I also think it was smart. WHO thinks you’re an “idiot”? Not Jen. You seem to be doing a good enough job talking like one, all by yourself, lol.

  11. Marc reportedly paid off debts of Dayanara’s that accumulated before they were married. Dayanara was the one who left the marriage, in June 2002 and October 2003. She filed for divorce in January 2004. When rumors followed about Marc and Jennifer dating again, Yari changed her story and presented herself as a victim in a previously happy marriage. Since divorced, Dayanara has changed her tune again, allowing herself to date men who are still, technically, married (as Marc was). Example: actor Terrence Howard, a father of three, was separated while dating Dayanara in 2005-06.

  13. I know what it’s like to deal with problems getting pregnant, and wanting to wait until you were “sure” before saying anything. This isn’t about that….it’s about diva-ish behavior by a known demanding woman. Being protective of one’s privacy is one thing, but being downright rude is another.

I mean, seriously, look at her past record. And look at her expenses for this tour!

If she were THAT worried that something might happen to the baby, then she should have postponed her tour.

I don’t care much for J-Lo as a person, but that doesn’t mean I don’t wish her a healthy and happy pregnncy and baby.

  15. Jen was caught between a rock and a hard place as far as canceling this tour, because she already bowed out of one last year. When you are struggling with infertility, it’s not so easy to plan your life, as it can be for the super-fertile. As for divas, I think she’s learned her lesson. She’s in a real marriage now and very happy. People can grow and change when they want to.

We made it to two of their concerts. They both did their thing, and it was a real pleasure, beginning to end. Jen genuinely enjoyed talking to the audience and appreciated their applause. Her singing was live and she sounded very good. Marc was fantastic! Their duets were my favorite part of the show.

  17. Baby safety comes before anything else. Tours or not.

And I’m not so sure she’s learned anything except how to be more demanding, from what I’ve seen of her actions off-stage. One can project any sort of image onstage…it’s called “acting” and, despite Gigli, she knows how. Of course she wants to make a connection with her audience, she wants to sell tickets and CDs.

  19. Plenty of folks in show biz have their diva moments, men too. Same goes in other professions, including medicine. We all have our challenges - as long as we don’t lose sight of whom we’re ultimately serving. I’m a ‘retired’ R.N (because of Parkinson’s). Anyone who has struggled with infertility is bound to get nervous, plus the hormonal changes. Having an obstetrician on the premises suggests that Jennifer is cautious and has a sense of responsibility.

  20.
  21. Where was it said that she had an obstetrician on the premises?

I had problems with my pregnancies, both in getting pregnant and staying pregnant. So I understand wanting to be “sure”. That isn’t it.

People are completely misunderstanding the point of these posts. People are missing the point. It isn’t about trying to be safe and healthy and sure or whatever. But…it IS about her saying, “NO, I am not pregnant!” and then it turns out that she is pregnant. Check out this link, and I quote:

All those recent reports that Jennifer Lopez is three months pregnant? The star says don’t believe them. “No, no! We get this every week!” Lopez told Us at the September 20 party in London for her upcoming album, Brave.

Indeed, since marrying Marc Anthony, 39, in 2004, Lopez, 38, has been dogged by endless mom-to-be rumors. “I don’t mind when people talk about this,” she continued. “I get the interest. I’m not the only [celeb] who gets these rumors.” But the newest spate seems to have staying power — despite Anthony issuing his own denial: “Everyone calls about this every month . . . but, no.”

This was September 20. She had a little bump but it was easier to hide. Now it is November 10, and the bump is huge. In seven weeks she went from “not pregnant” to hugely pregnant?

Whatever. When stars and their minions lie to the public, it destroys the trust that they try to build up with the public. It’s no wonder that we don’t believe the so-called press releases sent out that deny, deny, deny. Then, when someone tells the truth, they aren’t believed.

  22.
  23. The media didn’t NEED to report on speculation before Jennifer was ready to announce her own pregnancy. There are so many relevant things going on, nationally and globally, that we need to discuss. As for the issue of “trust”: many in the press have been misleading: by pretending they simply wanted a “yes” or “no” to the pregnancy question. Once that door is opened, there’s always more probes, distortions and dramas created for their customers, uh bloggers.

Jen doesn’t owe anything to the public about announcing her pregnancy before she was ready. Most likely, a woman needing fertility assistance will wait until she feels it’s a safer time. Jen & Marc decided to share/confirm it with their fans on the last night of the tour. She told their fans, on the last night of the tour. MAYBE because fans are genuinely interested in her life and because Jen and Marc were leaving the spotlight again.

“Baby safety comes before anything else. Tours or not.” (k)

Denial can be an ultimate way to protect a pregnancy. That’s precisely why Jennifer handled things as she did. Funny how fans of the couple have been understanding and supportive, and some non-fans are quick to criticize or feel slighted.

  25. Of course there are many more important things going on nationally and globally that need to be discussed. That’s why you’re reading a celebrity gossip blog. Why didn’t I think of that?

And yes…if she was that worried about the baby’s safety, then she should have cancelled the tour. She has the money to take whatever loss it would have incurred. It isn’t like she’s living hand-to-mouth and was forced to work (like I did with my first high-risk pregnancy, when I had to walk a mile to work every day and then stand all day only to walk a mile back again). If she can afford thousands of dollars a day for hair and makeup, she could afford to take a hit from cancelling the tour.

She was asked a yes or no question…are you pregnant? She flat lied, then wonders why there is continued media speculation about everything she says. The same with any celeb who lies about a situation that we later find out is the opposite…it creates the situation the celeb is trying to avoid. No, she doesn’t “owe” anyone any answers, but she should at least tell the truth and not flat lie. When you CHOOSE to become a famous person (and people don’t work as hard as they do to get famous to not want to be famous), you do have some expectations of privacy, but you also have to accept that there is intense curiosity on the part of the public who’s attention you court on what you do, say, eat, wear, and are. If she didn’t want that, she should have stayed in NYC, where she could have carried on with her pregnancy in total anonymity.

You can’t turn it on and off. You can’t court the spotlight one day and shun it the next. As Hallmark pointed out to Paris Hilton, you can’t take the flattering and fawning attention one day and turn around and shun the probing and prying the next. It’s all one big package.

And I don’t feel slighted. Why would I? In the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t personally make me any difference whatsoever whether she announces her pregnancy or waits until the kid is twelve. Personally, I couldn’t care less. But you’re missing my point…this is what I do. I write about celebs. That is what I have been asked to do here. I see what I feel are inconsistencies, weirdness, drama, spin, or whatever, and I report on it and give my own opinion on it. I don’t expect people to share my opinion, but I do expect people to realize the purpose of this blog is to write about celeb stuff…it is not to worry about the war in Iraq or the state of the Union or other “important” things.

If you want hard-hitting news, I hear CNN has a website. So don’t tell me how there are so much more important things going on in the world, when you know from the start that this is a celeb gossip blog, and you’re here reading it despite the fact that there is no World Economics section.

“..Denial can be an ultimate way to protect a pregnancy. That’s precisely why Jennifer handled things as she did. Funny how fans of the couple have been understanding and supportive, and some non-fans are quick to criticize or feel slighted.” (me)

Knowing she would be hounded by some of the press once she replied “yes”, she opted for “no”. It was ridiculous to keep asking her when it was obvious she was pregnant, but wasn’t comfortable talking yet. Maybe the media figured they could force it out of her. You’d think it was some important government information that would harm the public if we weren’t let in on it, lol. She had her reasons but some of the public and press doesn’t respect that. Maybe too much Jerry Springer has them feeling entitled? Too bad for them. I don’t consider “no” a crime in this kind of circumstance. If I had that kind of pressure on me, I would do the best I could to minimize it as much as possible.

We all know where CNN’s website is (I hope). Point is we deserve the truth about policies and dilemmas in our nation and beyond. Fact is that YOUR MEDICAL INFORMATION is just as PRIVATE as that of any celebrity - be it Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Oprah, Howard Stern, or (sigh) Paris Hilton.

  29. And telling the press “no” really took that pressure off, didn’t it? I can see where that completely worked. The press totally backed off once she said that.

No, the press didn’t care when I was pregnant, because I didn’t court the press on my way to be a famous person. And nobody was asking for an ultrasound or her glucose counts…a simple yes or no would have sufficed. Since it is fairly well-known that she has had problems conceiving, her fans would have been very happy (as they are) and supportive. I’m happy that she’s finally pregnant, and I don’t even like her very much. But she could have said yes, and that would have answered that question. Anything else would be at her discretion. She doesn’t need to open up her medical records, just say yes or no. But she lied to the press…when someone lies, the press has a hard time believing anything that is said, and they will keep digging. You can’t turn celebrity on and off when it’s inconvenient for you to be a celeb, and J-Lo has been a celeb long enough to know this.

But the point is that this is a celeb gossip website. This is not hard-hitting news (for the most part). To tell me how there are so many more important things going on in the world is just not relevant to the purpose of this site. If someone wants that sort of news, CNN is up and running. I don’t pretend that this is life-changing stuff I’m writing here. Don’t take most of this so seriously, it’s celeb news. She finally admitted it, so okay…next!

  31. It was her divorcing Cris Judd and the Bennifer period when I tuned out on her, for a time. ‘J.Lo’ seemed to encourage the media frenzy, and I thought it went to her head. Though I ignored those two much of the time, I wasn’t surprised when their wedding fell through. Jen learned the hard way, but sometimes it’s the best way, and she learned how “boundaries” apply in show biz.

“And telling the press “no” really took that pressure off, didn’t it? I can see where that completely worked. The press totally backed off once she said that.”
    (k)

I think it bought Jennifer some time, to plan how they’d share their news with fans. They did so in a controlled setting that felt safer, right before Marc and her returned to their private life.

“.. when someone lies, the press has a hard time believing anything that is said, and they will keep digging..” (k)

That’s good if we’re talking about hard-news but, you said it: this is gossip. No public good is served by hounding a woman (clearly pregnant) for medical information she isn’t comfortable sharing. Eventually, she feels backed against the wall, and finally says “no” (as in “enough”) - so they’ll buzz off, if only for a while. That’s not thwarting some nobler cause (not for gossip). Jen’s trying to protect her baby; yes, she’s a celebrity but celebrities have that right too. That’s where you and I differ.

  33. Yes, I think celebs have rights. That’s why I was a bit snarky but not overly hateful. Read some other celeb blogs and then read what I wrote…big difference. And unfortunately most celebs learn too late that there are boundaries in showbiz, and by that point they’ve courted the media attention so much that they can’t turn it off. That’s why I said you can’t have it both ways and it’s a bit late now for her to try and do so. She’s a diva to the core and she tries to have both sides of her cake to eat. Or something like that.

All I’m saying is that if you are so obviously pregnant, and you keep saying no, and then you say yes, it just makes you look ridiculous and calls into question anything you say. Therefore, it makes media attention worse. I’m happy for her…I hope she’ll be a good mom, even though the spotlight is no place to raise kids. I know she’s tried for a long time and I hope things work out well. But she’s made herself look a bit silly by continuing to deny the obvious. She’s not stopped being a diva since the Bennifer days ($8000 US a day for makeup?). And if I see something silly, I’ll point it out. It’s what I do.

Just my opinion, and my last words on it.
