Pieces of Britney Spears? Um, Which Ones?
So the full video for Britney Spears second single is out. “Piece of Me” is the latest nonsense Jive is pushing from her semi-flop of an album Blackout. Apparently there’s been some “post-production work” on the video to thin Britney up a bit. Clearly the video gurus stopped midway through their efforts because Britney still looks bloated and ridiculously under-dressed for her current body.
What’s so ironic about all this (and Britney’s life is full of irony) are how the lyrics of this song hinge around her life in the tabloids. Britney making fun of the media’s perception of her as an out-of-control, “shameless,” attention-whore when in reality she IS an out-of-control, shameless attention whore - isn’t even irony, but mere fact, which is what makes it so ironic. Britney pretending she’s in on the joke that is her life, is so incredibly sad and pathetic, that for a split second I almost felt sorry for her.
But, unlike so many of you fine folks, I don’t feel sorry for her, not in the slightest.
Britney’s refusal to get the help she so clearly needs and do ANYTHING of substance with her life except drink calorie-laden Frappuccinos, drive around aimlessly (and dangerously), spend her money on cheap and/or expensive trinkets, court the paps while pretending she hates them, and ultimately and more importantly — neglect her children and their needs — is a testament to how sick and twisted she is. Feeling sorry for her ISN’T helping. Turning on her might though. In case people aren’t aware, Britney is currently under investigation by DCFS for concern of the children’s safety and welfare. If nothing else, she has blatantly abused her privilege to be their mother, and while that may not be physical abuse, it’s abuse all the same.
Anyway, there’s the new video for your enjoyment. I hope you like it, because I sure didn’t.

Just Curious, Who writes this crap? First off, if you don’t like “Blackout”, then perhaps your musical taste doesn’t reside in the “Pop” genre, or perhaps you just don’t have any taste. Blackout is a great album, and whether you like it or not it definately going to supply Britney with more hit singles then the two she has already released.
Since your article (?), doesn’t have the writers name I would suspect that the writer is already aware that this album is good, and he doesn’t want to compromise his reputation as a critic.
Anyone real critic with an established reputaion has already said that this album is a good solid “pop” album.

Yep, Blackout will be what puts Britney in the
Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame. This is her finest opus for sure.
BTW, nowhere was it mentioned her music sucked or anything negative about her music at all. All the writer said was the video production, like Britney’s voice, was doctored and her album sales have slumped.
I guess because no one can argue against the fact she’s a shitty mother you just have to pick and choose what you want to see.
Reading comprehension folks, it should be made standard in today’s school curriculum. Clearly this is why we are failing as a nation.

entertaining article. i enjoyed reading it. her video for piece of me somehow reminds me of her ‘do something video’.. and britney should steer clear from outfits that bares her abs.. at least for now..

What bothers me is everyone keeps making statements as if this is Britney’s album, I think it’s mostly the her producers who deserve the recognition, not her. There are plenty of musicians out there who although have the help of producers, can still overall take the credit for the sound of the album, it’s instruments, lyrics and so on. This isn’t the case with Britney at all.

The writer is biased and stupid.

Step off your pedestal. To completely write someone off who you don’t personally know, is truly ignorant. This article lacked originality, depth and insight, leaving it just as bland as you obviously found Britney’s song.
All you have written is a list of Britney’s already well-publicised shortcomings while perpetuating an unhealthy body image. As far as doing anything of substance, at least she has given generous amounts of her wealth to charity. I guess everyone gets to “pick and choose” what they want to see.
I don’t mean to harp on at you, I just dislike it when people are vapidly judgemental.

Well, her makeup looks pretty good, but I’m thinking a lot of that is digital editing after the fact. It looks TOO good, if you get my meaning.
And all the jump cuts and flashing editing can’t hide the fact that there isn’t a single dance number in the song, even though Brit is known for her dance numbers in previous vids. When she does a spin she almost falls over. She can move her head from side to side and shake her tuchas, that’s about it.
I thought this was supposed to be about Brit and her pals fooling the paps trying to get into a club and such? That premise falls apart about halfway through the video and all we get is some choppy editing of Brit trying to dance in a bathroom. Oh, and the upswept hair? Yeah, done that one to death, Brit. Find a hairstylist.
Forgot to mention that the song sucks. “Can’t see no harm in workin’ and bein’ a mama”??? When has she done either one, lately?\
And has anyone else noticed that the background music sounds like Mario Brothers, especially at the end?
