He's a nice looking guy, he's a family man, low key, laid back and really seems humble. What's not to like, I guess. I had only heard about him years ago (with the hotel antics back in the moss and ryder days). He really has grown. Other celebrities should stop being such media whores and follow in Johnny's footseps. It's refreshing and it keeps him interesting. He is notorious for being nice. There was a youtube clip recently posted with a drama student's experience at the Sweeney Todd premier in NY a couple of weeks ago. The guy said in his video clip that when Johnny arrived at the premier, instead stepping on to the red carpet and going into the theater, he walked across the street where all the fans were barricaded and started signing autographs and talking to the fans. It doesn't get any better than that. And like you say, we really don't need another reason to love Johnny, but this is one of the many reasons we do. He is a CLASS act. No surprise to me about Johnny. He is notorious for being nice.
