The Spears Family Is Ticked At Dr. Phil…It’s Gonna Hit The Fan Now

Ooooh…Dr. Phil McGraw had better watch his back. When them Spearses get mad at you, anything is liable to happen.
Britney Spears’ family continues to make her proud. Through a spokesman, the Spears family this morning said that Dr. Phil was in no way authorized by them to turn Brit’s latest mental crisis into a three-ring circus:
Family spokesman Lou Taylor, a business manager for mother Lynne and daughter Jamie Lynn Spears, appeared on Wednesday’s Today show and also said that at no time had the family planned to do a show with McGraw, despite his statements about such a program. (McGraw later said the scheduled episode would not go on as originally planned.)
“It was decided it would be detrimental to ever do that,” said Taylor, who described McGraw’s request for such a show in the first place to be “self-serving.” She also said that McGraw has now “compromised” Lynne and Jamie Lynn’s relationship with Britney.
Taylor confirmed that McGraw had been sent to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Saturday to meet with Britney at the request of the family, and that Lynne Spears and McGraw’s wife, Robin, know one another. [...]
“What’s wrong with Dr. Phil’s statement,” said Taylor, “is that he made a statement [after he went in and basically ambushed Britney in her hospital room]. The family, basically, extended an invitation of trust for him to come in as a resource to support them, not to go out and make public statements.”
She added, “He was not invited to make this part of a public display or part of the media.”
Okay. Here’s another inductee into “You Can’t Fix Stupid”, because there’s more wrong here than you can shake a stick at (feel free to use that folksy witticism, Philly).
First of all, if Lynne and Jamie Spears thought that Dr. Phil would come in and both fix Britney and themselves, then their mental state is worse than Brit’s. Have they ever seen his show? Have they ever sat down and had the Dr. Phil experience? Yeah, occasionally he makes good points, but they’re always punctuated with the bellowed “Howzat workin’ for ya?” and “What were you THINKIN’?” Y’know, I’d like to ask that of Brit’s parents myself. If they thought that this media-seeking, Oprah-ass-kissing, psycho-bully blowhard was going to magically make everything in their lives turn into rainbows and lollypops, then there are bigger problems here than Britney and her pretend British accent.
Secondly, I don’t think that Dr. Phil compromised the relationship between mom, pregnant sis, and mentally ill sis. I think they all did a great job of that on their own. The problems that have existed between Lynne and Britney have been well-documented for some time now. This isn’t something that has sprung up overnight. It sounds like Lynne is looking to blame anyone but herself for the strained relations between them, just as Brit looks to blame everyone else in her life for her screwups but herself. I realize that Britney isn’t quite in her right mind at the moment, but she has a long history of pushing the blame off on others when it really needs to be dealt with inside of herself.
And lastly, if Lynne was so concerned with Brit’s mental state, here’s a thought…GO SEE HER. She was in the hospital. Sure, maybe Lynne would have gotten there and been refused admittance, but at least she could have made the effort. She could be making some sort of effort now, instead of calling up television shrinks to do her parenting for her. Okay, I understand that she’s got a knocked-up teenager at home to deal with. But I’m sure the extended Spears clan has somebody who could come over and sit with Jamie Lynn and bring her Cheetos and milk (hey, pregnant girls need calcium) while mom went to deal with older sis. I mean, surely she’s not going to have her boyfriend over and do zexy times, right? It’s not like she can get any more pregnant.
No, while Lynne and family would like to blame their latest problems with Britney on Dr. Phil, let’s not give credit where there’s none to be had. Calling in this moron was just the latest in a string of very, very bad parenting decisions on the part of Lynne and Jamie. Yeah, I know that Brit is technically an adult, and isn’t being raised by her parents any more (wait…was she ever?), but somebody needs to take charge of this girl (she’s still a girl, even though she’s almost 30, because even in a non-mental state she’s stuck in a stage of emotional arrested development) and force her to get treatment.
Otherwise, her sister’s graveside won’t be the only place Lynne will be laying flowers by year’s end. I definitely don’t want that to happen, but the way things are going that’s going to be the next stop. And it can be prevented, but everybody is going to have to take responsibility for their own actions for it to be so. Unfortunately, I don’t see any of it happening in the near future.
UPDATE: Could her erratic behavior of the other night, resulting in her hospitalization, be caused by quitting drugs/alcohol cold turkey? That could be why she tested clean, but had other tests come back positive. Quitting cold turkey, combined with lack of sleep and food, could do some serious damage to your body/brain chemicals.

“everybody is going to have to take responsibility for their own actions” Yes and that includes journalists (I use the term lightly) that are printing and reprinting whatever Kaplan tells TMZ to print with no reguard for the truth.
Britney is still blaming her Mother for pushing her into rehab. Given all the random drug tests and the latest hospital blood or hair test for drugs coupled with their statement that Brit is as clean as clean can be and has been for some time now, it certainly looks like Brit never had a drug or alcohol problem at all. She does appear to have postpartum stress which has been hightened by K-Fed abusing her with his slander. Remember that the court called Brit an habitual drug user and that is the reason they gave her visitation with court monitor….but it looks like she never had a drug problem…..However K-Fed is a daily pot smoker and has been video taped smoking pot just last October while his friend claimed that K-Fed only smokes pot in the garage. Last I checked pot was an illegal subtance and the court ordered both parents to stay clean of the drugs within 12 hours of having custody. K-Fed is the one violating the court orders.

Well, Jodi, I have to disagree with you a bit. She has had drug tests come back positive, and she has had problems with drugs/alcohol in the past. She may have been clean on this time that they tested her, but not on other occasions.

I have followed Britney’s media closely and I can tell you that ALL random drug tests ordered by the court and taken by Britney were clean of all illegal drugs. The attorney for K-Fed has claimed she had failed drug testing when she did not take the drug test and when one of her prescribed meds showed up….but all drug tests which she took were clean of all illegal drugs. If any drug test was not clean the visits with her kids would have stopped instantly and that did not happen. The hospital now claims that she has been clean for quite some time now. They probably did a hair analysis which would reveal years of proof as to drug use if she had been an addict or just tried a drug once. When they drug test K-Fed we will see who the drug addict is. It was TMZ that kept printing she had failed a drug test when in fact the lawyer was claiming she failed while knowing that she was prescribed the drug which he saw in the drug testing. He misled TMZ to make that claim and they kept changing the drug they claimed she used because they were lying in an effort to slander Brit and get K-Fed more money. Look at the crap reporters printed on the night the cops took her away. Cops claimed she was on an unknown substance and reporters claimed she had taken a drug coctail which would have killed anyone within hours. Her drug tests are clean because she is not an addict, K-Fed is.

Well, I’ve followed this pretty closely myself (after all, it is my job) and while I don’t disagree that Kevin is probably smoking up weed, I also have to disagree that she’s always been clean. She may be clean now, but it hasn’t always been that way. There’s testimony to prove so, plus you don’t get admitted to a drug rehab without a problem with, you guessed it, drugs. Plus, Kevin isn’t pulling the public crap with the boys that Brit has pulled. But I do agree that he needs to be tested as well.
I mean, I’m not going to sit here and debate these same points over and over, you have your opinion and I have mine. We’re just going to have to agree to disagree and call it moot.
I do have a new theory on the other night…that she stopped taking drugs and had a bad reaction, which combined with not eating or sleeping (manic phase) caused a mental situation. And can you blame people for thinking she was on drugs the other night? She had the appearance of it. Just by looking at the tape shot of that night, I would have assumed she was on something. Media outlets are now reporting that she wasn’t, so they are correcting their earlier stories. Even the first responders thought she was on drugs, and they are medical professionals trained to analyze a situation.
But I don’t believe she was on the drug cocktail that NOTW was reporting. That would have killed an elephant!
