Did Kiefer Sutherland Go On A 24-Hour Bender After Being Released From Jail?
24 hours ago, I sat here in this very chair, at this very computer, eating the same flavor Pop-Tarts as now, and wrote about Kiefer Sutherland’s release from his 48 day jail sentence for DUI and probation violation. Reports were that he was a model prisoner, gave nobody any problems, and was by all accounts happy to be released. Perhaps a little too happy, according to some reports:
The actor was released at midnight Los Angeles time – 8am UK time yesterday – then headed straight home for a marathon drinking session with friends.
The party at his Los Angeles home was due to wind up this morning, copying the idea of Sutherland’s hit TV drama in which the events of a whole series take place over one 24-hour period. [...]
Sutherland was granted a request to serve his time in suburban Glendale’s city jail rather than the overcrowded LA County jail in downtown. The trade-off was that he could not shave any time off his sentence for good behaviour.
In addition, Sutherland was placed on five years’ probation and fined $510 (£260), ordered to enrol in an 18-month alcohol education treatment programme and to attend six months of weekly alcohol counselling sessions.
I don’t know, too many holes. Why would he willingly comply with all the rules and regulations in jail, and then the moment he steps out he goes off on a bender, even though he knows he has to attend a treatment program and alcohol counseling sessions? That doesn’t make sense to me. But then again, not much in Hollywood does make sense to me, so maybe it’s true.
If it’s true, I could say at least he stayed home and didn’t drink and drive, but still…if it is true, a 24-hour boozefest doesn’t sound like someone who is taking their sobriety seriously. This was his fourth arrest for driving under the influence, so he seems to have a bit of a problem with his drinking. Paying attention to his recovery and complying with the court’s orders should take precedence.
Kiefer, man…take it easy. I can understand being happy to be out of jail, but there are other ways to celebrate. If you’re trying to get clean, being around alcohol, even in the privacy of your own home, isn’t really a good idea.

As you well put it: “(Kiefer) was ordered to enrol in an 18-month alcohol education treatment programme and to attend six months of weekly alcohol counselling sessions.” It was never determined he could not drink. Results are expected from the counselling and tretment programme, but he was never ordered not to drink. And I truly believe that in a free country what one does in the privacy of ones home, its his/her business.

Oh please, leave the guy in peace. What he is doing in his private life and at home just concern to him, to anyone else!!! Plus, who did say that he took any part in that Marathon drink? Come on…!!!! Kiefer is not a stupid guy. Probably his friends ordered a big party for to celebrate his releasing, and…what???? Don’t forget that Kiefer had lost his anniversary, Christmas and New Year parties while he was in jail , so, I think he deserves to spend a nice time now with his friends, doesn’t he?

Well, it may be true that what he does in the privacy of his own home is his business. But, if you’ve just been released from jail for your FOURTH DUI, and you’ve had a pretty well-documented problem with drinking, and you’ve been ordered by the court to complete an alcohol treatment program (which they don’t offer to the person who has the occasional after-dinner brandy once or twice a month) and alcohol counseling, then I’d say having a big 24-hour drinking session probably isn’t smart.
And if his friends did organize it, then he needs new friends, because true friends would be supportive of his attempts at kicking this problem. I also said that MAYBE he was drinking, I didn’t say he WAS drinking. Please read it again. Even if he didn’t drink, being around a big party like that when you’re trying to deal with a drinking problem isn’t exactly the smartest thing to do. Plus if you are in a treatment program I don’t think you are supposed to drink.
If you’ve got a drinking problem, it doesn’t matter if you’re in the privacy of your own home when you drink. You’re still contributing to the problem and not the solution.

We don’t know how accurate this report is and I’m sure that the media is going to start “looking” for ways to write/say bad stuff about him, especially if there isn’t anything bad to broadcast to the world. Until I see that it’s confirmed by other reliable sources, I’m just gonna take this with a grain of salt. Also, it isn’t illegal for him to drink, just to get behind the wheel of a vehicle after having too much to drink. Perhaps also, he hasn’t even started the rehab classes yet.(My goodness people, he just got out of jail. I’m sure it takes a few days to get that started) But I will also say that if friends were encouraging this, he needs new friends. I’m still holding out hope that he’ll get it straight this time and I’m still a fan.

K, you are absolutely correct IF this is true, with friends like that who needs enemies?
I like Keifer and he is a talented actor with too many demons…. he would probably do well to check into a non-celeb rehab and deal with the psychological issues behind his addiction… before he ends up like too many before him and sadly Keith Ledger today.

Everybody is a “Monday morning quarterback!” Let Kiefer be the judge of what he needs, or doesn’t need to do in his life! As long as he doesn’t DRIVE drunk anymore, or hurt anyone else, which I don’t think he will do, after all he’s been through, it is HIS business how he decides to spend his free time. I love Kiefer Sutherland,he’s a kind and gentle guy, and I want to see him around for a very long time too, but people, let Kiefer worry about Kiefer! Whether he has a problem or not is not OUR business, as long as he keeps it private and doesn’t hurt anyone else, and he hasn’t hurt anyone, so leave him alone. If he needs to quit, he’ll do it in his own time, otherwise, get off his back already!

I love how people purposefully seek out, go to, and read celeb blogs, only to gripe at the person writing the celeb blog. Yet I’ll bet dollars to donuts that the person griping will be back to see what else is being written or whether or not anyone responed to their pathetic blatherings in the comment section.
Got news for y’all. This is what we do. We see a story and offer our opinion on it. It’s called a celeb blog, we are bloggers, and you know that going in. So save your shock that someone other than yourself has an opinion for the Rachel Ray or Paula Deen fanpages.

K, your point is taken. This is a celebrity blog — unfortunately, and with all due respect, it reads more like tabloid trash.
Yes, you say “IF” it’s true, but then you go on to chastise someone for something that you, yourself, are not certain he even did. You can’t have it both ways. Either you’re saying you believe he did it, at which point, as the host of this blog, you are justified in bitch slapping him with your opinion — or you’re saying you don’t believe he did it — but you can’t say both and expect any of your readers to view your blog with any amount of credibility.
Additionally, I find it interesting that you were able to yank this bit of gossip out from under a rock somewhere — yet you never mention the far more prevalent story, one that is all over the papers, in which this celebrity was seen shopping on Rodeo Drive the day of his release — perfectly sober, even though there are photos and eyewitnesses to back that story up … leading me to believe that you’re “blog” is really nothing more than an outlet for a bad case of Perez Hilton Envy.
And that’s cool — if you aspire to celebrity gossip mongering, then go for it. But if you’re going to gossip monger, at least have the decency to twist actual facts, rather than contort a bunch of lies.

Well, smee, you see it your way and I see it mine. I didn’t put Kiefer down with this post, rather I pointed out that sometimes one’s choice of “friends” is a big factor in whether or not we stay on the straight and narrow. Also, the delicate dance we do when making personal decisions between right and wrong.
If you choose to see it as gossipmongering, then go for it, I can’t change your mind; I can only go with what I feel to be right and true within myself. I don’t wish Kiefer ill; I hope for him and anyone else struggling with sobriety the best.
Oh, and when I start drawing pictures of penises on photos, then you can charge me with Perez Envy.
