Scientology Critic, Author Ian Halperin, Goes Dark In Hours Before Interview

I admit, I am a bit of a “paranoid.” On the surface, as we skim and meander through our mundane world, picking up groceries, getting our morning coffee, dropping our kids off at school, there exists subversive elements who carry out their own agenda hidden from our oblivious gaze.

Whether that agenda is one person’s desire to cause malevolence against another, or a group’s efforts to pervert justice - I know these people exist and it’s my job to avoid them. But, I also am driven by my deep-seated desire to seek out the truth, the knowledge of the what, where, when and how and most importantly - why.

I have a highly anticipated interview with author Ian Halperin on my show this evening, something we’ve been working on feverishly for a couple of weeks now. Not only am I interested in talking to Ian about his experiences investigating the gritty and often sleazy world of Hollywood, but I am most interested in getting to the bottom of what he knows about the Church Of Scientology. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO INTERVIEW, 10:00PM EST, Sunday Jan. 27. Join us in the chatroom, call in to ask Ian a question at (646) 478-0139.

I sent Ian a couple of emails a few days ago and heard nothing until this morning. After finally getting in touch with me, Ian informed me what was going on and why he was incommunicado

just got it - I’ll be calling you from a remote location. big new - i received several threats and I’m in hiding till it all dies down. A day after i went into hiding Andrew Morton also went in hiding. My story all started on Thursday night when I was almost run over by a taxi cab when a camera crew approached me coming into my building. Then, I received two threatening phone calls - my lawyer advised me to skidaddle for a while until it all calms down.

Ian updated me shortly there after with this response:

here’s the latest. Morton apparently is not in hiding - several people sent me messages and links about rumours of him going into hiding. As for myself, I’m just laying low until this all dies down. I can’t prove that Scientology made those threats against me. It could have been some freak.

Ian fully admits this could have been a prank, someone playing on the media’s reports of the intimidation tactics the COS have used in the past to quiet those who’ve threatened to expose their inner world. I know from my perspective, I received a rather cryptic email a couple of weeks ago when I first reported on the Andrew Morton Tom Cruise/COS expose, from a local representative of the COS which ultimately suggested they stop by my house and give me some info on the COS.

My response was one of both paranoia (they knew where I lived and what I’d written about COS in the past) and curiosity. I will be honest, they were very friendly and good-natured and tried to assuage me of any concern I had, explaining point by point how they had kept tabs on me and my husband’s COS coverage of the years and merely wanted to give us information on the rich history of Scientology. Nothing threatening, but I must admit, I found it vaguely eerie how aware they were of my comings and goings.

When searching for some corroborating data to Ian’s assertions, I found Defamer’s post on the subject on Friday, and I discovered the exact same thing had happened to author Andrew Morton when his book was on the verge of being published here. Those stories can be found here.

I have seen several websites devoted to exposing the corruption and illegal activities of the Church of Scientology. Too many to list. Just Google, Scientology, scare tactics and see for yourself. Above is an over-the-top, but frightening account of how dangerous the Church may be. I have no proof any of what is alleged in the video is true, but the saying of “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” may be prophetic in this case.

Don’t forget, check into Glosslip Radio tonight, 10:00pm for an special 90-minute segment of the show when Eric Olsen of Blogcritics.org and myself will attempt to get an inside look at COS through the eyes of someone who’s been there.

Call in number (646)-478-0139.

  3. you have just entered the very heart, soul, and life force of the internet. this is a place beyond sanity, wild and untamed. there is nothing new here. “new” content on 4chan is not found; it is created from old material. every interesting, offensive, shocking, or debate inspiring topic you’ve seen elsewhere has been posted here ad infinitum. we are the reason for “not safe for work”. we are the anonymous army. cross us and you will fail. anonymous is everywhere. you depend on us every day. we bag your groceries, we fix your computers. anonymous sees you before you see him. sitting at desks around the world right now is a nameless, faceless, unforgiving mafia composed of the best of the best.

We are 4channers. the people devoid of any type of soul or conscience. products of cynicism and apathy, spreading those very sentiments daily. anonymous is the hardened war veteran of the internet. he does not forgive or forget. we have seen things that defy explanations. heard stories that would make any god-fearing, law abiding citizen empty their stomach where they stand. we have experienced them multiple times and eagerly await their return.

4chan is a place of sheer genius and utter stupidity, and there is often a thin line dividing the two. here you will see a state of mind that exists in most human beings, but is rarely if ever shown. this is a place where taboos do not exist. 4chan cannot simply be regarded as a simple website or imageboard. it is so much more than code. 4chan is alive and constantly changing. this is a subculture, a self-governing sect of the world. rich in history and foundation. to become a 4chan user is to speak a different language. to leave behind any methods of conventional thinking you once knew.

There are things here that you will not understand and things you never will understand. if you cannot accept this then GTFO now. because there is no turning back.

    This is 4chan, this is /b/ ”

Pretend there is a bar or gauge if you will. The pressure that this measures goes up every time you see scat porn or a snuff film. Every time you are rick rolled or see the internet uncover yet another corporate/government scandal. After you go through another flame war or download another movie. After every won CS game and WC3 tourny. After every photoshopped pic of an elephant ass raping a child whose blood flies through the air to land on an animated gif in just the right way to make you laugh in that way that makes 90% of the god fearing people of this world cringe or scream in disgust. I AM the internet. We are the internet. We are the 10-30 year olds who were raised on this stuff. The bnet kiddies who are growing up to be your best and brightest. We are desensitized. Nothing is sacred. Nothing holds meaning. Chuck Palaniuk never could have guessed what would happen if we didnt break free from corporate America.

Fox news, there is a future scarier than Fight Club. Your country club loving, yacht owning, fag hating patrons just can’t imagine what they are facing…. you can’t imagine the power we possess. We own the networks. We own the world. We are cruel not because we hate but because we don’t care and the power that gives us is infinite….

  15. Ignore Demonsthenes. He’s been posting that wall of text in all sorts of Scientology-related news areas. It’s just a bunch of stuff loosely related to Anonymous, which is why he’s posting it. The fact that he didn’t write it and that it has no bearing on the current situation is why it seems to be so far out of context.

Regardless, Scientology is a twisted organization that survives off of the oppression of its followers and the forced silencing of its critics. It deserves everything Anonymous gives it.

Power is a privilege. Knowledge is a right. The internet shall prevail.

  21. One thing about the Church of Scientology its critics don’t realise is that it continues to expand no matter how bad the press.People hear about it and get interested

The true story of Scientology® is simple, concise and direct. It is quickly told:
    http://www.rehabilitatenz.co.nz/pages/true-story-of-scientology.html

    1. A philosopher develops a philosophy about life and death.
    2. People find it interesting.
    3. People find it works.
    4. People pass it along to others.
    5. It grows.

  23. KevinOwen, the only thing in scientology that works are until uncovered.
Scientology certainly didn’t work for Lisa McPherson. She is dead.
It didn’t work for the granddaughters of singer Amanda Ambrose, who were sexually abused by their scientologist father Tony Strawn.

It didn’t work for Reed Slatkin, Earthlink co-founder unregistered investment manager and long time ordained Scientology minister and auditor, who admitted to defrauding clients of approximately $255 million dollars in a Ponzi-type investment scheme.

It didn’t work for L Ron Hubbard, who’s wife Mary Sue Hubbard ran his Guardian’s Office and went to prison for conspiracy when she was caught with her staff infiltrating the FBI and IRS back in the late 1970’s. It didn’t work for their marriage and family ( or his other 2 marriages). He kicked her out because she was a convicted felon.

It didn’t work for the french tunisian woman that was recently rescued in Italy after being held for months in a big infested room by 3 french scientologists against her will to cure her of her depression. The Scientology Introspection Rundown didn’t work. Those 3 are in jail now and I pray that the woman will recover from that.

Unfortunately, she is not alone in having been a victim of that terrible program. My friend Dale Bogen never survived it. Lisa McPherson never survived it. You are too much of a coward to even watch the video LipGloss has up. You are programmed NOT TO WATCH it. Not to consider the facts. I was once like you. 18 years. Scientologists are not allowed to evaluate all the facts, to question, to criticize. You do not know that because you are too scared of the consequences.Let me assure you, KevinOwen, there IS life after Scientology and life works.

else would they be against all the good things that Scientology is doing?

  31. well then, it must be true that scientologists use mind control. that has to be one of the most ridiculous statements i have ever heard. that’s right up there with implying that if someone is black, they must surely be a gangsta or drug dealer. people should never be labeled because of their race, creed, religion, or sexual orientation. maybe the people who attack scientology have a reason other than to detract from their “criminal backgrounds”.
