Church Of Scientology: Power, Corruption, Lies - Part 1

tom-cruise-david-miscavige.jpg
Last night’s Glosslip Radio show with author Ian Halperin was an incredibly powerful and explosive look at the deception and danger which lurks within Hollywood’s most influential organization, The Church of Scientology.

Not only did we get a first-hand account of what Ian witnessed as widespread anti-gay and racist views held by members of the church (not surprisingly really, COS founder L. Ron Hubbard was a notorious racist and bigot), but we were treated to a surprise and fascinating caller, famous anti-COS defector Arnie Lerma.

What unfolded was the interviewee becoming the interviewer, as Ian discovered a kindred, yet more grizzled spirit in Arnie. Both having been subjected to the mind-control tricks and neo-psychology con of the COS, they were able to compare notes, experiences and ultimately a shared relief that they, unlike so many, escaped with their lives and sanity in tact.

Think I am being over-the-top? I just spoke with Arnie Lerma for two hours and the things he shared with me about the Church of Scientology would curl your toes. Fortunately, Arnie was able to tape the interview and I will be doing a mini-series on this subject.

Because of the nature of this information and the secretiveness of the COS organization, I will have to take some time to dig around and track down sources and gather intelligence before going forward with my findings. Rest assured, I am impassioned with the desire to seek the truth about how the Church has deceived it’s members, deceived the public, made billions through sophisticated cons — and ultimately superimposed its will onto the American subconscious right under our very noses — while using the sacred First Amendment to cover up its misdeeds.

One last thing, let us be cautious in jumping to conclusions about the group who call themselves “Anonymous/Legion.” While it is too early to tell their ultimate intentions, we may all end up appreciating their courage to take on an organization which has more than one person’s blood on its hands.

One man’s fascism may merely be another man’s religion.

  5. Good-o. I’ll be keeping an eye on what you find. And thanks for posting the show. I got in late and really wanted to hear it.

Remember people, the most effective and meaningful blow we can deal right now is to take away their tax exempt status. The financial windfall could cripple them and certainly give the world time to see what’s really going on inside the walls of their “churches.”

Write letters to your congressional and house representatives voicing your concern. Do it now. Email is most effective. Visit http://www.congress.org to get their addresses.

All it takes is one voice refusing to give up. We can do this. We will be heard.

  7. I was unable to listen to the show last night (dammit!) but am very interested in what Ian Halperin had to say about racism and bigotry in Scientology. Was that even discussed? Will a transcript be posted?

  9. Anonymous can do a lot to oppose Scientology, but cannot win this battle alone. Scientology’s greatest asset is the unwillingness of the general media to truly delve into Scientology’s crimes and spread the word for fear of the Church taking legal (or not so legal) action against them.

It’s always good to see people in a position to spread information standing up to the Church.

  15. Of course you’ve heard the expression, “If it isn’t written, it isn’t true”. The author expresses, “If it isn’t antagonistic, it isn’t true”. Unless a datum rouses antagonism, it is discarded as invalid. “The sky is blue” and “People feel emotions” aren’t true because neither can be counted on to rouse antagonism. “Scientology methods bypass gender, race and sexual preference” doesn’t carry antagonism and is therefore untrue. Get the drift?

  19. Perfect: indeed, Arnie Lerma was really near the “founder” Hubbard, and he knows a lot.
It’s great to see that such people can regain their self-determinism bit by bit when leaving such a trap as scientology.

  23. Terryeo is a scientologist. Also, look out for Luanne (Lu), Iain C and CountessKrak (CountessK) on message boards defending their cult. They can usually be counted on to attack the credibility of the author of the article, divert blame and brag about the cult’s financial and legal achievements.

  25. I had a look at Scientology by my own and decided not to listen to the vitriol propagated by some on the Internet. And what did I find? Nothing of the sort that was spread by the ignorant and prejudiced! Scientology, I discovered, is fun and very very useful. And I have been a member ever since, with pride I might add!

Oh, that’s right - your ego lapped up the lies about turning you into a superhuman and improving your IQ. I got news for you - the day you took up with COS, your IQ dropped by 50 points…

  31. Of course Terryeo is a Scientologist. If he weren’t one, he’d be able to talk in English instead of “a datum rouses antagonism” and similar gobbledygook. The sad part is that Scientologists actually study long and hard to learn to talk that way, in what are misnamed “communication courses”. It never occurs to them that, since they are actually LESS able to communicate with the non-Scientologists who make up the majority of the world after these courses, they really haven’t gotten what they were offered.

  33. I’m not a scientologist and I wish I could
change this conversation to one about Christianity
but I went to several Scientology web sites
and think that what it has to offer is very much needed in our world.
They do a lot of good
things. I remember reading something in the Katrina news too
about Scientology crews there and John Travolta going around in
a boat to help. I have a lot of respect for John Travolta and
personally am moved by Tom Cruz’s passion for what he believes
in. I did notice that no matter how angry they become in their
subject of passion, they don’t lower themselves to the level you
have permitted yourselves to sink. But then that is likely normal
ops for you in daily life. You guys are a bunch of bored
computer nerds with too much time on your hands. I don’t care
how far fetched a religion seems or how passionate the
members. But what I read so far was positive and actually quiet
admirable. I found a personality test on one of the sites. I’m
tired tonight but I’m going to take it tomorrow. Interesting. Back
off and get a life okay

  35. I have come to the conclusion that Scientology breeds division within society & especially within itself.
Scientology is chronically at war with its concept of enemies finding these within society & within itself.
The veneer of unity within Scientology is always imploding through the divisions that exist within Scientology.

  37. To all cult members: Anyone who has been sucked into one which continously drains their wallet with no end in sight is going to have a hard time admitting to themselves that they have been duped for fear of losing face and for having to deal with coming to terms with it if they decide to quit. It seems only natural to counter balance this with some do-goodery to make the whole affair more acceptable to themselves. But, giving to others should be unconditional and not with the intention to gain brownie points from the general public so stop whingeing about how so and so did this and that when such and so happened, the more is gloated about it the less genuine it seems.

  39. First of all, Anonymous would like to remind you that we are NOT attacking the BELIEFS of Scientology. We are not saying their beliefs are evil or somehow wrong. In fact, we could care less what you believe. God is a very personal thing, and we know better than to tell people our version of “the truth”.

Neither are we attacking the FREEDOM OF SPEECH of Scientologists. Any Scientologist is welcome to share his or her views, just as anyone else is. I understand how taking down an organization’s website could be misconstrued as an attack on CoS’s freedom of speech, but this is simply not the case.

The truth is that your rights (including your right to freedom of speech, thought, and religion) END at the moment when they infringe upon someone else’s rights. Scientology has a history of a “fair game” policy, attacking anyone who does not agree with them in various ways with their vast resources. They have forced abortions on their members above their private navy, SeaOrg. They have even been responsible for the death of at least one confirmed member (google Lisa McPherson) through their irresponsible practice of therapy. They have numerous human rights abuses on their record. For more information, I direct you to http://theunfunnytruth.ytmnd.com/. If you think that website is biased, keep searching. Everywhere (except sites maintained by Scientologists) there is well-documented evidence of the crimes of CoS.

Ask yourself, what kind of religion forces you to PAY for a truth they claim will make your life happier, better, richer? What kind of religion then uses that money to enact lawsuits against detractors and give commissions to their higher-ups? The answer is, religion doesn’t do that. Beliefs don’t do that. Beliefs in the hands of evil, greedy people do that. Scientology is more corporation than religion. There is absolutely no reason for them to be tax exempt. Do they worship any type of deity, as most religions do, or are they just hawking bad medicine to the vulnerable?

These are questions that must be answered. Scientology must not continue its abuse of human rights. If it continues, the war will never end until the organization is gone. Allowing them freedom to continue their money-grubbing pyramid scheme because “they have freedom of speech” is equivalent to allowing skinheads to beat up blacks just because “that’s their personal belief”.

  41. I am so glad to see people talking about $cientology and taking them seriously. The paranoia and corruption at the upper levels are just shocking. everyone should spend a little net time learning about the history of this cult and it’s crimes against people.
L Ron Hubbard was a pathological lier and his replacement David Miscavige is a pocket size bully.
