Britney’s Father Will Be Back In Court Today
(Any breaking Brit news today will be updated at the end of the post.)
Today is yet another showdown in the never-ending saga that Britney’s life has turned into. The court commissioner is scheduled to make another ruling on the conservatorship concerning Britney’s life and finances:
Sources say tomorrow, Trope and Trope will appear at the court hearing. Along with attorney Adam Streisand, who specializes in estate law, and ask that both co-conservators be removed. They will argue that the appointment of Jamie in particular is inappropriate given Britney’s bitter feelings toward him and that Britney wants him out.
On Friday, the Commish appointed Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew Wallet as co-conservators. Trope lawyers and Streisand will ask that both conservators be replaced.
Sources say the Trope firm will not object to a conservatorship for Britney, but they’ll ask that a different conservator be appointed.
One of the problems with this is (no surprise) Brit herself. In her current mental state, she apparently swings from hating someone one minute, to wanting them with her the next. That might cause a problem for her lawyers in that you can’t really trust what she is saying, because she’s not in her right mind. They’re going to have to show that she hasn’t liked or trusted dad Jamie for a long time, perhaps years.
But then again, how long has this illness had hold of her mind? This isn’t something that springs up overnight, there were probably signs of it for years; however, they were probably excused away or mistaken for something else. And you can’t really argue that without a comprehensive mental evaluation, which I’m not sure the hospital has had time to do in the course of a few days.
And also, when you have two divorced parents, the main custodial parent can really attempt to poison the mind of the child against the non-custodial parent. Plus, even with court orders in place, it is easy for the custodial parent to keep the child away from the other parent and not let them see each other very much. When you’re a kid, and you don’t really have a good grasp of what is going on in the real world, it is possible to be easily swayed by slick words and excuses and manipulations. Combine that with Brit’s less-than-traditional upbringing and it’s no wonder she doesn’t know who to trust in her life.
Hopefully Jamie has a good lawyer and he can convince the court that having Brit’s father as co-conservator (the other one is a lawyer) is the best thing for Brit right now. Unlike Lynne, Jamie has not profited off either of his daughters and their fame. You can tell that just by looking at the two of them…Lynne is always perfectly coiffed and manicured, and even when she’s dressing down in jeans and sweatshirt she’s got the high-end stuff, not Faded Glory from Wal-Mart. Dad Jamie always looks a bit scruffy and like he shops at, well, Wal-Mart. But at least Jamie is out earning an honest living (he works as a private chef) while his ex is nothing more than a madam, whoring out her daughters to the highest bidder.
In other Brit news, X17 is citing “an inside source” (nudge nudge) who says that Brit did not go willingly to the hospital, but rather kicking and screaming all the way. And, in an absence of All Britney All The Time News (since Osmegma has been effectively locked out of her life), they are still scraping for news and have taken to running ads hawking “Live Promiscuous Txt” to pay the bills.
Breaking news will be updated in this post.
UPDATE #1: One down…the court has decided to put off a hearing on whether Brit can have child visitations in a theraupetic setting…mainly because of her current lodging.
UPDATE #2: A court appointed lawyer just told the Commissioner that he does not believe Brit (worth $40M US) is capable of understanding what is going on legally nor how it will impact her life. This could be bad news for Adam Streisand (yes, related to THAT Streisand), who said Brit hired him. No kidding…if they believe she is Greatly Disabled, and can’t even be in charge of dressing herself or obtaining shelter, how do they think she’s going to hire legal counsel?
Also, Osmarmy bin Loopy is refusing to answer the door to recieve his restraining order against Brit. It’s also alleged that he’s been in contact with her over the weekend, via telephone, in violation of the order. Discussing the Super Bowl, perhaps?
UPDATE #3: Jamie and the other conservator want to remove Traipse and Tripe as Brit’s divorce lawyers. They’re a little too chummy with Osmarmy (not to mention that they themselves wanted to dump her a few weeks ago…until possibly the pot was sweetened a bit).
UPDATE #4: I missed the press conference, but thank God for TMZ.
- Jamie Spears and Andrew Wallet are still co-conservators of Brit’s estate.
- They do not have the power to fire Trope and Trope.
- Sam Lutfi/Lufti can have absolutely no contact whatsoever with Brit, and that includes emails or phone contact.
- So far, the conservatorship has been extended to Valentine’s Day.
- Adam Streisand has no legal basis to say he is Brit’s new lawyer. It’s unclear his status now.
- There will be a hearing at some point to determine how menally competent Britney is.
UPDATE #5: According to TMZ, the PR man hired by Mark Vincent Kaplan has been subpoenaed:
The subpoena subject — PR guru Michael Sands. Everyone, including Sands’ personal lawyer, Randolph W. Wright, is mum on the nature of the subpoena, however, one source says it is “substantial.”
Britney’s lawyers, Trope and Trope, drafted the subpoena. Expect a dogfight over whether the info Sands has is protected by the attorney-client privilege.

great article. Agree 100% that her dad seems to have her best interests at heart. Wonder how it will go down. As no one really knows what has happened to that girl (past or present) it must be hard for a judge to decide these kids of issues. I just hope that she stays in a mental health facility unti they can properly diagnose her and find the right cocktail of meds to help her through.

Great coverage k.
Of all the people in her life to be in charge of Brit’s well-being, assets and future decisions, a relative who has NOT profited off of Britney and who seems to keep him mouth shut and his nose out of things, James Parnell (Jamie Spears) is the best candidate. The fact that Britney hates him is a good sign. This likely means he’s been telling her for years what she doesn’t want to hear and is the “mean” parent.
In my house, I am the mean parent. Why? Because I don’t care about the short-term, but rather the long-term. Sometimes saying “no, why? because I said so,” is far better than the mixed signals someone like Lynn Spears has been sending her kids for years.
Unless I hear otherwise (like Jamie molested Britney or stole her money) then he has my support 100%.
You go Dad Spears, and don’t let that Sam or Adnan anywhere near Britney ever again. In fact, kick both of them in the nutsack if you get the chance.

Amen! I agree with D, Jamie probably IS the mean parent who doesn’t give two sh*ts if his daughter is a superstar. Too bad he wasn’t around much after Lynne basically took Britney away to make her a star. As I’ve said in other posts, I’m sure Lynne made the best decisions she could, based on that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but glad she isn’t anywhere near in charge. Neither Sam, Adnan OR Lynne are probably a very good influences on Britney.
I think the court made a decent choice. Even if you count Brit’s lawyers, well, they most certainly have a vested interest in controlling her finances — and I would think that would include any outside “objective” person designated by Trope & Trope. I mean, c’mon — how objective can anyone be if they still have to get rubber-stamped by T&T?
Besides, I think it’s a good decision, since it isn’t ONLY Jamie making decisions, but that estate lawyer as well. I’m assuming that Lynne can’t have Jamie cut her a check for a spa weekend without the other guy’s approval.

I don’t think Trope and Trope should have any say in anything, they are much too close to Sam, the big mouth, Osama Lufti and for that reason alone they should be replaced. I hope this conservator judge is given the proper information to make her decision today. Britney needs someone who will not be cowed by her temper tantrums and able to say no in charge of her and her affairs.
BTW, any doubts about Sam and his part in this is erased when you read his text messages (pictured) on bitten and bound dot com.
I have hopes this hearing will go the right way today.

And there’s the article I’ve been looking for. I knew I read it somewhere, but forgot to bookmark it and totally spaced it. Thanks!

Glad I helped in some way {{{smile}}} when I read those text messages I was livid..
I wish the judge would have kicked T&T to the curb along with smarmy… I think someone needs to cut off Brit’s phone service for the time being.

You know, it’s so sad that only now are we beginning to get an idea of just how ill and unstable Britney really is.
Padded rooms?
Greatly Disabled?
Mentally incompetent?
Conservatorships?
TMZ reported that another attorney (talk about white on rice) met with her yesterday and determined that she could not grasp the severity of the legal wrangling going on over her, nor could she understand its impact on her life.
Legal issues are hard enough to understand, but if you’re reasonably coherent, you can pretty much get a good idea of what’s going on. Apparently she is so ill (”out to lunch” is how TMZ headlined it) that she can’t even get a handle on what’s happening around her.
It’s sad. Sad that she was allowed to degenerate into the state she’s in now. If it had been drugs, I’d say okay, she did it to herself, but she’s mentally ill, and the whole world was watching, laughing and waiting to see what crazy shit she’d do next.
What’s worse is that those around her apparently didn’t care enough to lift a finger to help her get the help she so obviously needed. Granted, some mentally unstable people will refuse help no matter what their loved ones do, but if you truly care, you’d keep trying, right?
But nobody did. Not the paps who constantly fawned over her — no they were too busy waiting for the money shot of her doing something idiotic.
Not her “favorite” web$ite, instead they rationalized every bizarre, crazy, cry-for-help thing she did. Not even her “loyal” friend Sam, who instead paraded her around at 3am at the Rite-Aid or Kitson — but only after (allegedly) texting his favorite web$ite to let them know.
If D and K, and we, the loyal readers of Glosslip.com called it months ago (before there was ever a meltdown and ambulances were called), couldn’t the people who were two feet away from her see it?
Makes me wonder who Osmarmy’s next victim is going to be.

I am disappointed the judge didn’t see fit to remove Trope and Trope today. I’m extremely uncomfortable with their relationship with Sam.
This sudden subpoena today has be scratching my head and it appears Britney’s “fortune” has shrunk considerably — I’ve read and heard $60 million and $40 million — and now we find out she is in a $19 million IRS audit…. at this current burn rate this mentally ill woman is going to be broke and living on the street in a few years.
SOMEONE has got to get a handle on her affairs and she needs to be institutionailized until they can get her brain working in a normal manner.

I swear we have the BEST regular readers and commentors!
Great insight folks.
I saw the link at bittenandbound.com, (that was a very cool site btw) and after reading those texts (you really have to go through the whole set to get the big picture)I now firmly believe Osmarmy bin Douchey needs a swift boot to the somethin’.
Lufti is vile and I am glad we all agree that Brit’s dad is the best family member she has now. Sometimes, I really think once all that animosity wears away, Britney will find solace in her dad.
I think he really cares about her. Any decent dad would. I sure do now. It makes me feel good to know she’s being looked after. Fingers are crossed.

K hate to be a pest, but did you see this at
http://www.pagesix.com/
****************************************
Britney’s Choice is Pal of Sam Lutfi
Britney Spears’ ‘choice’ for co-conservator is her business manager, Howard Grossman.
Sounds reasonable, but sources close to the case tell PageSix.com: Howard has had a long-standing friendship with none other than Sam Lutfi.
**************************************
Did I miss something today? Where did this guy come on the scene? and why did Page six see fit to put this up when today in court the judge left conservetorship with Jamie and Wallet….
Comment by Rappy — February 4, 2008 @ 11:39 pm
I may have answered my own question if I read down fartheron Page Six… Grossman IS her current business manage — (and according to Page Six) friend of Sam Lutfi)…. so he is claiming Britney wants him a co-conservator… Why? according to him her once $100 million fortune is now $40 million…
Time for a new business manager IMO and a complete forensic audit of her affairs.
Comment by Rappy — February 4, 2008 @ 11:44 pm
No kidding. She’s had legal issues but 60 million dollars worth? Makes me wonder about Trope & Trope’s hourly billing practices!
Maybe she’s like Jacko and just spends and spends (he went bankrupt, or was very close at one time, I seem to remember)?
Then again, if someone is not in complete posession of their mental faculties, it’d be pretty easy to swindle them out of a few mil.
