Anti-Scientology Group “Anonymous” Gears Up For February 10th Worldwide Protest
Above is the latest video from the group calling themselves “Anonymous.” Over the course of the last month, the media has witnessed this group coalesce from a ragtag of “cyber-geeks” into a growing organization with an agenda. An agenda, mind you, which keeps being refined and distilled as its members become more and more disheartened by the mainstream media’s complete and utter indifference to the subject.
That is not to say there aren’t individual voices raising questions about how the COS funds its multi-national operation, or how it obtained its government protected tax exempt status, or how it has silenced its critics either through litigious threats or physical intimidation. (See Time article linked to below for a source of the above allegations.)
There are and have been brave souls all along. People who’ve risked their lives, devoted their resources and put their reputations in jeopardy to uncover the unscrupulous efforts of the Church to make them “go away.”
In an infamous investigation into the Church done by Time magazine back in 1991, writer Richard Behar, gives an overview of COS, who they are, what they do and what they are hiding:
150 interviews and reviewed hundreds of court records and internal Scientology documents. Church officials refused to be interviewed. The investigation paints a picture of a depraved yet thriving enterprise. Most cults fail to outlast their founder, but Scientology has prospered since Hubbard’s death in 1986. In a court filing, one of the cult’s many entities — the Church of Spiritual Technology — listed $503 million in income just for 1987. High-level defectors say the parent organization has squirreled away an estimated $400 million in bank accounts in Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Cyprus. Scientology probably has about 50,000 active members, far fewer than the 8 million the group claims.
Recently, I found reference to a “tech” term taken from Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard’s own “Fair Game policy,” on how to deal with critics of the COS: R2-45. If you do a quick Google search on this term you will find several references to its meaning: 2 rounds from a colt 45. It’s so sinister it’s almost inconceivable. This is why so FEW dare to investigate the COS. Their purported methods sound too evil to be true. How can something so inherently immoral, be a thriving organization with such glamorous members as Tom Cruise, John Travolta or Katie Holmes?
Well, to corroborate the above mentioned method of dealing with critics, the Time article has a chilling anecdote about none other than COS leader, David Miscavige:
“Obsessed with security, Church boss David Miscavige reportedly likes to shoot photos of perceived enemies with a .45 automatic.”
The most encouraging aspect to all of this attention being paid by blogs, private citizens and organizations who’ve dedicated their lives to helping expose the truth and help those who’ve managed to leave COS, is now, the information is out there. Even rank and file members can find out what the leaders of their organization are doing to suppress their right to free speech, information and the freedom to make their own choices about what they believe in.
That’s the difference between and religion and a cult. Cults seek to alienate you from your family, the world and deprive you of a normal life full of all sorts of experiences. Whereas any decent religion or faith, should merely provide you with foundations to pursue your own interests with the hope of guiding you in a spiritually moral path. But ultimately, you can walk away from any decent religion with no strings attached, your sanity in tact and hopefully your life savings accounted for.
Sadly, Scientology can NOT make that claim. I encourage you to read the Time article, especially for those of you who doubt anything you read which doesn’t come from a well-known source.
Update: Time magazine spent 7 million dollars to fend off a baseless suit brought from the Church of Scientology after publishing the investigative article on COS. In what has to be the greatest display of irony, COS’s leader at the time, Reverend Hebber Jentzsch made this statement after the courts dismissed the COS suit against Time.
“Here you have a multi-billion dollar colossus called Time- Warner and they use their billions of dollars to come after a small religious minority,” Jentzsch said. “It was sort of like, well, I guess it’s David and Goliath.”
Yes, well COS knows a lot about a multi-billion dollar colossus going after a small minority. Just ask any ex-member what that experience is like.

They just keep getting better. Keep up the good work.

Regarding the article published in the multi-billion dollar colossus called Time-Warner, I stand behind the truth of everything contained within it. As a scientologist of 30 years, I know it is all true. Ask me about it.

I am a 50 year old small business owner and grandfather. I can just barely use email. But I know a con game when I see one, and the Co$ is a deadly con game that we are forced to support via their tax exempt status.
Expect me too.

Terryeo - How many people are in the room with you as you actively seek out critical comments and sites to poo-poo on. Are you doing this solo? Or is Gavino holding your hand like he use to with the former “Entheta internet crusher squad”?

Don’t get fooled into thinking that Anon will simply pass out some fliers and raid some locations and that will be it. Co$ is BIGGER than you know and they will attack. They don’t defend and they don’t play a passive game. They will attack Anon when they get the chance.
Just one question about this “religion” called Scientology: since when is sweat and vitamins considered spiritual?

$cientology reminds me of high school when my buddies and I would get bored and do stupid little experiments. Sometimes they were simple little things like going to the mall then gather around at some random moment to look at a spot on the floor. Soon people would start walking up to see what we were looking at, then a small crowd would form - then we’d walk away and see how long it would take for the crowd to disperse. One time we made up a religion but then got a little carried away trying to top each other on what we could get people to believe - we had to stop cuz it was getting mean. Good lord, we were idiots…

we never even thought to make money off it!
Is it possible hubbard just “left his body†before he got a chance to call off the experiment something?
What if hubbard was trying to stop the experiment so the people making money off it kept him out of the public for the last 5 or 6yrs of his life? Then they injected him with anti-psychotics before he “abandoned his physical form†in an attempt to discredit him in case he’d gotten through to somebody.
Howz THAT for a crazy conspiracy theory?

Well, I appreciate #28 but I am a woman and my baby-having days are over. But what a sweet sentiment.
Honestly, I am only doing what any decent self-respecting journalist would do: exposing the truth.
I only wish COS would do the same, and the government would take off the blinders.
I appreciate what Anonymous is trying to do. As long as they abide by the law and handle things in a peaceful way, then I wish them all the luck in the world.
Comment by D — February 6, 2008 @ 6:22 pm
Ah, dear sweet D, you misunderstand. I wouldn’t dare insult you by asking you to have my babies. I want to have YOURS!
But seriously, it’s wonderful to see such great press coming out on this. And of all the sites that have covered this subject in recent weeks, I have to say you’ve done a job that makes most of the “professional” journalists look like kids writing in crayon (with cute little backwards letters and everything).
Keep up the good work, I wish you all the best.

I’m not a Scientologist but I’d like to agree with Mr.RandomComment#28b and RandomComment#23b, it’s sounds like L Ron Hubbard was just a silly guy conducting some fun innocent scientific experiments and maybe some other people took it overboard without his guidance. It’s a shame that maybe these Scientologists were a bit too enthusiastic about helping people at the World Trade Center, they might have been wiser to leave such things to trained rescue personell.

I appreciate it and all but you don’t need to agree with me on my silly conspiracy ramblings. I’m just some random anonymous with an overactive imagination ;^)
But could you imagine?!?! Oh, how tragic. Would the experiment ever end or would we all eventually become a part of it?

Hi all, I’d like to say that while focus is currently on Scientology [and I support your work in exposing Scientology]so-called ‘religions’[get around the law by registering as a business and looking conservative and excluding many people,ie regulating selected 'ones'to preen]such as RESTORATION MINISTRIES AUSTRALIA run by a woman obsessed with absolute dominance over already vulnerable persons, still manages to go - believe it or not UNDETECTED.
Free yourself from cults and cult-abuse and LIVE.

I am a survivor of extreme cult control & domination dished out over a period of many years.
What I want to do is tell others that, YOU TOO can break free of your abusers. YOU TOO can be freed from the terrible abuse of your life and liberty.
YOU ARE VALUABLE AS YOU ARE.
YOU DONOT HAVE TO SUBMIT TO ANYTHING TO BE ‘ACCEPTED’ BY OTHERS.
YOU DONOT HAVE TO TOLERATE MENTAL EMOTIONAL PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PHYSICAL ABUSES, CONSTRAINTS, CONDITIONS AND OTHER TERMS OR ACTIONS THAT THREATEN TO ‘HAVE NOTHING MORE TO DO WITH YOU IF YOU DONT DO AS I SAY.’
Many of these controllers look like the average every day person and are ‘believable’ but remember THEY ARE NOT.
They intend only to control you and in short RELIEVE YOU OF YOUR LIFE AND LIBERTY in order for them to meet their own needs, to fell fulfilled and of value.
YOU DON’T NEED THEM.
So what they threaten you if you walk away?
Make the arrangements to leave. Tell no-one and go.
Make sure you have a rental place or friend to whom you can go that is within your budget so you are absolutely self-supporting. A job would be great.
If you have a moment of weakness when you feel alone and unloved give it a miss…do something you really want to do or love doing.
CULT LEADERS MAKE THEIR LIVING OFF YOUR FLESH.
In the final analysis if you object and resist they will only lie and you will be the one in a bad light even though you will not to be blame and theywill only be covering their tracks.
YOU ARE OF VALUE AND PEOPLE CAN [AND WILL]ACCEPT YOU AS YOU ARE FOR WHAT AND WHO YOU ARE.
You have no need to lay down your life [and goods and chattels and pay packet and the desire to further yourself through study or work etc] for the cult leader who is simply EVIL…personified. Believe me there is no - yes I mean NONE - CONSCIENCE in a cult leader. Beyond hte smiles and genteel tone of voice and calming soothing actions there is a cruel hard cold personallity with BAD INTENT.
You were not born for others to construct their lives and pay their mortgages frmo your flesh!
