A Shakeup In Britney’s Camp
It seems that someone in Britney’s life is doing some moving and shaking. Her manager is being fired and her legal representatives are on the verge of quitting:
Howard Grossman, the business manager, tells PEOPLE he is aware he was the subject of a closed-door hearing Thursday but he has no idea why a temporary conservator’s motion to give Spears’s father the right to fire him was granted.
Court papers show that Grossman was served Thursday with orders to surrender “all documents, records and assets relating to Britney Spears.”
“The only thing I will say is my reputation speaks for itself,” Grossman says. “I couldn’t tell you why they chose this path.”
Also, divorce lawyer Sorrell Trope tells PEOPLE he filed papers Friday asking permission to be released as Spears’s attorney in her custody battle with Kevin Federline.
A hearing will be held on the matter on March 10. The high-profile divorce attorney had filed similar papers several weeks ago, but retracted them.
“We filed paper asking to be relieved, and hopefully they will find someone to replace us,” Trope tells PEOPLE. “I’m not at liberty to say more at this time.”
This from the attorneys who swore to stand by the singer in her hour of need?
Hopefully Brit’s dad and co-conservator Wallet can bring in some people who not only know what they are doing, but who are not in league with Osmegma. It’s been said that her family is trying to convince Laura Wasser to return as her legal counsel.
And check out what Smegma’s new publicist, Michael Sands, has to say about Kevin and Britney:
“Kevin Federline needs to get on TV and say, ‘I’m learning about Britney’s bipolar disorder. He needs to step up to the plate and not hide behind the shield of his lawyer and be a man. He could become a hero instead of hiding.
He’s the better parent, and he has the right to his own life. He’s divorced, and if he’s smoked pot, as reports have said, so be it. The kids are safe with him. But he’s got to step up and help Britney. Don’t hide behind your lawyer. He needs to learn and speak out so he can help his kids as they get older. People will become ultra sympathetic towards Britney as they learn about this illness.
Britney needs to be in a hospital for a year. She needs to see her kids. She needs to be in a nice atmosphere. This is overkill, it made my stomach turn. Every time we had to go into court, yes we have to protect the kids. But every mother, healthy or unhealthy should see their kids. In Britney’s case, her parents need to let Sam Lutfi in her life and drop this. You can’t blame someone for mental illness. Mark Vincent Kaplan needs to lay off. Everyone has to lay off! Before Britney dies accidentally.
As for Kevin’s lawyer, “Mark Vincent Kaplan needs to lay off! I love him, but he needs to lay off Britney Spears, someone who has an illness.
“This is the reality. I don’t know if everyone is smoking or drinking, but everyone needs to sober up and look at this in a clear way. Britney could do a lot of charity work in this disorder once she gets well. She’s not Frankenstein. Many people are bipolar.”
Don’t forget, Sands used to be the PR guy for Mark Vincent Kaplan…yep, Kevin’s lawyer.
And yeah…lots of people are bipolar, but lots of people don’t hold their children hostage and are controlled by Svengali-type creeps. There are more things in this situation than just Brit is allegedly bipolar and needs to take her meds. Nobody is saying that she is Frankenstein, they just want her to get well. Don’t forget, she was classified as “Greatly Disabled”, and if she can’t take care of herself then she certainly can’t take care of those children. Sands should remember that the ultimate goal of all this is to get her well and reunite her with her children.
And if Joe Schmoe in Plumpluck, Nebraska, did what Britney has done, I’d expect the treatment to be the same as what is attempting to be done with Brit.

If a person didn’t know better you would think it was a bad soap opera script.
I’m so happy her father has taken things firmly in hand, and hope this judge keeps him in charge for a long time and they unravel her affairs. Somehow, I think we are going to find a lot of money unaccounted for when all is said and done.
Britney’s hairstylist made an interesting comment: Britney can’t wait until her cars are returned so she can go out. It seems her cars all being towed the other evening were done in order to keep her home once she was returned to The Summit; Daddy has two security guards in the house.. which answered my question about how he could ever get any sleep without fear she would slip out the back.

she’s already out and about looking like crap, same fishnets, stained clothes, crappy hair even though a hairdresser allegedy came to her house to do her hair. she is totally a lost cause, i see no change in her behaviour. she was screaming at her bodyguard in the car, having another temper tantrum.

Sally, you really aren’t looking at this right. This woman is not in control of her behavior any more than a child would be, so its not fair to judge her the same way you would a sane adult.
We have to hope her parents stick with this long enough to get her real help, and once she exhibits behavior which is deemed normal then we can get a real sense of who Britney is.
Until then, I am choosing to look beyond her behavior.

Her behavior is that of a cornered animal. Sad but true. She needs help and they are forcing her to get it. In her condition that can’t be all bad.
Sam, on the other hand would have been parading her out at all hours of the night letting her go completely crazazy in full view of her 30,000 pap entourage.
She doesn’t like what’s happening because someone is in charge now that’s actually in charge.
As a parent, I’m guessing it’s probably breaking her father’s heart to have to treat her that way, but it’s also necessary.

but how long is her dad going to be there? he can’t stay forever, and it doesn’t look like anything is changing. she really needs to be in a facility for 6 months out of the public eye. she will not get the help she needs running around LA, whether she has a bodyguard or not. and i feel for that guy, can you see having to put up with brit’s screaming and yelling? even lohan is a walk in the park compared to britney.
Comment by sally — February 9, 2008 @ 11:41 am
Yes, well Lohan isn’t crazy, she truly is selfish and bratty with a side of addiction. Therein lies the difference. Lohan can be reasoned with and treated like a “normal” person, Britney, as k has so eloquently put it is “not in her right mind.”
It’s like talking to someone in a language they can’t understand, they see your lips moving, and hear noise, but it doesn’t compute. Britney needs to be led by the hand and shown what to do until her brain can comprehend what she’s done to herself.
We are all agreed on one thing, she needs long-term care quickly.
Comment by D — February 9, 2008 @ 12:08 pm
and does anyone really think she will go into long term care? it ain’t gonna happen, she won’t do it or she would have stayed at UCLA. in a few weeks she will probably be yanked back into the psych ward and the cycle can start all over again. it will never end, until she dies or winds up in prison through killing someone in an accident.

they are trying to maintain some sense of order until the meds are figured out. It’s not as easy as presto chango these are the pills you need. They try different combos until they find the right mix. It’s not a question of forever, they are just trying to give her a fighting chance to see the mess she is in.
Did any of you see Alli Sims? She said that she “loves Britney to death” thought those were an interesting choice of words. Can’t stand her.

This morning in the shower I was thinking about her behavior last night. I agree it is that of a cornered animal who wants to do what it wants to do and someone is exerting authority and they don’t like it… just as with my dogs I have to show they I am in charge from the time they are puppies, you have to do the same with children.
Britney was inserted into show business at a very young age. Her mother, from all accounts, never was a disiplinarian and Britney ran things from a too young age. I suspect, from what I have read, her father never really approved and it led to his own lack of self-control.
In the meantime Britney, with no disipline and no boundaries ran things her way… sometimes this works, most times it does not as evidenced by a hollywood littered with dead child stars…. in the case of Britney she not only became extremely wealthy, she started to spiral out of control mentally and this is what we are watching now… finally her father has said enough and, to his credit, this parent does not want to just give up and watch his child die …. like two in the last month. I applaud him for this.
Why she was allowed to go shopping yesterday is a mystery. I understand the dancing… I think it is let her exercise, wear herself out so she will, perhaps, sleep, and get her on some sort of normal schedule instead of thse all night wanderings and sleeping all day…. ala Elvis and so many before her..
I will admit seeing her in those danged stockings, yet again, stunned me a bit. I wondered if, at some point, her parents should show her the pictures and aske her how her sons will view these pictures some day, but mentally she isn’t there yet to reason with. I sort of laughed at the temper tantrum — great sympathy for the body guard(s) who are definitely need to be well paid to put up with what they are going to experience in the near future…
I also had this fleeting thought (last night) that if ANYONE is a candidate for the program “What Not To Wear” it is Britney Spears…. I would love to watch that program with Clinton and Stacy telling her how crappy her taste in clothing, hair and makeup really is….

Unfortunately the laws that apply to mental illness are designed to protect the rights of someone from being committed against their will. It takes quite a bit to put someone in the hospital, and most of the time what happened last week generally applies — a lawyer for the hospital (or the patient or court) will decide who is “competent” enough to be out in society and who is not. Sadly, the people who really should be deciding are the doctors.
What would be needed right now, if I understand the laws correctly, is that Britney herself would have to go to her doctor and say “hey, I need round the clock help because I can’t cope” and she would have to VOLUNTARILY check herself in to some kind of in-patient (or even out-patient) program.
So, it’s a catch-22. She’s too far gone to realize she needs constant care, yet not far gone enough to forcibly get it.
Personally, while I can see the “human rights” side of it, at the same time my feeling is when lawyers and other non-medical professionals are deciding how to deal with mentally ill (or just plain ill) patients, those people will never receive the medical care they so desperately (in some cases) need.

they might be able to manage her mental illness, but i don’t know what they will be able to do about her personality disorders and just plain shi!!y attitude, along with celebrity entitlement disease.

Osmarmi keeps referring to something that happened to her five years ago is why she is messed up today…. she and Justin Timberlake broke up in 2002 after she had an affair with someone else. Following Justin she has flings with the likes of Colin Farrel. I still think she wasn’t firing on all eight cylinders and the break up with just started her detachment from reality… her public acting out has been an attempt to get his attention (JMHO) because she has never matured beyond that teenage thing of trying to make the guy feel bad taht he broke up with you. Too bad she cannot look in the mirror and see she doesn’t even look like a shadow of herself in the Justin days.

I’m wondering if maybe something happened that wasn’t so public - pregnancy/abortion maybe? Just a guess.
Then again, knowing Oslimey, it could probably be just pure BS to get his name in the tabs again.
Comment by crazymom — February 10, 2008 @ 8:50 am
crazymom, good points, I expect we will know soon enough when Oslimy surfaces for a money-publicity fix.
BTW, looks like Britney is going to need constant minders for a long time to come, she tried to invite Felipe into watch her dance yesterday and her body guard put the stop to it…
