A Brave Face, And Yet Another Preventable Scientology Tragedy
Arnie Lerma, a man of legendary status for his fight against the Church of Scientology, sees beyond the sensational and straight to the heart of what is wrong with the COS.
At today’s events in Washington, D.C., Arnie stood in solidarity among the gathered protesters. Arnie isn’t an official member of “Anonymous” and neither am I, but you don’t have to belong to a group of activists to understand, appreciate and comprehend the reason why the are there.
Something extraordinary happened to the group in D.C. - they were transformed from protesters into witnesses, as they stood transfixed to a young woman who told her story, her Scientology story and how in the end she lost her father to an organization which just doesn’t seem to be part of reality as we know it.
From Arnie, posted on Operation Clambake:
before 200 netizens in protest of the madness of scientology, From Washington DC, the face of courage:
This little gal, called me last month, for the first time, in a timid voice, that grew stronger with every word she spoke…it was the first time she had ever spoken out about scientology, she is an ex scientologist, her father was a lifelong, scientology “minister”.
She brought before and after pictures of her father, the young handsome Scientology minister, and 25 years later, a broken man.
She had more guts than anyone today. She walked up to Sue Taylor, Director of Special Affairs for OSA DC, and said Hi sue, remember me? (she used to play with Sue Taylor’s kids at her home) Sue said hello… untill she told Sue Taylor that her father committed suicide 3 years ago.
She came up to me after I managed to spout off a few words of encouragement to the crowd, explaining operations snow white and operation freakout, and I suggested that she tell the picketers her story…
She did..
And told a crowd of 200 strangers on the street about her life, growing up in scientology and then about her father, a 25 year long “Minister” in scientology, who hung himself 3 years ago.
Arnie has confirmed he will be with us tonight on the show at 10:00pmET. We will talk about this story and his experiences at that DC protest. Please call in with you own experiences 646-478-0139. www.blogtalkradio.com/glosslip.

I am so heartened by the story of this young woman, another victim of the Co$, I’d like to think that we have helped give a voice.
Like Jenna Miscavige’s tale, this story shall become another ray of light emanating in a single beacon of truth, enlightening those on the outside, and offering hope to those still in, encouraging them that there is a life beyond the Co$.

The drive against Scientology is now strong and with vital momentum. The drive now needs a spokesperson. With some training, this woman has the background - and necessary nerve - to seek this position. With the public eye on her the whole way, she’ll be protected.
She should contact Anonymous and ask what the next step is and ask how she could help. Next step: work to legally dismantle this murdering institution called Scientology.

My beautiful daughter turned 26 years old last August. The last time I heard her voice she 19 years old and telling me that she was disconnecting from me over the telephone as me and my family - her family, were waiting for her to show up for Thanksgiving dinner 2000. Every holiday I muster up all the will a mom can not to cry in all the stores playing Christmas carols but that will doesn’t always win. I pray every day - today is the day she’s in my arms and I feel her soft cheek against mine. Sorry - still crying.
