I think Diana invented courting the press. she did it all the time, she was much worse than anything spears has done. and it wound up costing her her life.

Thank you for that medical assessment, Dr. Lutfi.

Seriously, there are famous movie stars who go out all the time and don't cause quite the pap-storm that Brit, LiLo and Paris cause.

It's been pretty much accepted as fact that Brit (or someone in her "employ") would call certain websites to let them know she was coming. Big deal, Britney coming out of starbucks yet again isn't a big draw, but when Brit brings her own brand of crazazy to starbucks or Rite-Aid or the Exxon station, well, that's another story. Hundreds of paps show because they know something's going to happen and they want the money shot -- be it a crotch shot, a kid in a lap shot, or the arrival of a monthly visitor.

It's not so much about staying home, it's about not courting the paps when you're out. Jennifer Garner and her daughter go EVERYWHERE; Gwen Stefani takes Kingston EVERYWHERE; heck even Suri takes the Katie Holmes stick figure out every now and then -- and while they do get followed by paps, there's just not that much pap interest in Jen taking Violet out for another day at the playground, or Gwen taking Kingston shopping, or Katie and Suri doing whatever it is they do.

Face it, boring is, well, boring and nobody wants to see that.

p/s - it's also been said that Princess Diana courted the press at certain times.

Uhm. First of all, he isn't just talking about Britney, but about any of the so-called stars who do these things.

Secondly, did you read this? That "psuedo-science" you scorn is the only thing helping Britney right now. People like you just hurt her.

Perhaps you should get all your facts before passing judgement.

Psych med's. The new icepick in the brain (lobotomy). The ACLU should be all over this. Britney's psychiatrist poisoned her with psych med's through tricking Britney's care taker Sam to medicate Britney on doctors orders with some medication poisons. Then the hospital psychiatrists, Britney's family, and the courts used Britney's mental impairments caused by their poisoning of her to strip Britney of all her civil rights. Just review the videos, and other records made at the time.

"It would be torture to give a powerful anti-psychotic drug to somebody who isn't even mentally ill. ... But here, it's happening on U.S. soil" (ACLU attorney Ahilan Arulanantham)

If the Federal court lets this outrageous violation of Britney's civil rights stand. The court will be sanctioning the drugging, kidnapping, imprisonment, poisoning, torture, and seizure of property, assets, and personage of any US citizen by conspiracy's of psychiatrists, family, or others.

Based, solely on the highly subjective opinion, and pseudo-science of biased unscrupulous psychiatrists. In concert with other conspirators. And this could happened to anyone. Especially anyone seeking mental health care. Or who had previously sought, or received mental health care. This is so unconstitutional it stinks.

If you know that what you are going to do is going to cause a pap frenzy which could endanger innocent people passing by, then YES...stay home. The likelihood of Britney or Paris or Lindsay or any number of famous people causing a problem on the streets is MUCH higher than if you or I decided to pop out to Starbucks or the grocery store.

That's one of the downfalls of being a celebrity. The up sides, of course, include lots of money, people to stick up for your stupid actions on the internets, and people to do your running around FOR you. Use a gofer, use a personal driver, use a bodyguard...but those solutions are too easy.

People know that when they become famous, they can no longer go around like they did when they weren't famous. Period. They can deal with it or they can drop out of sight and not be famous any more. There are already laws in place...enforce them.

So what every one is saying is that because your famous, you should never go out? What propels all of this is people with no life and nothing to do who hang on every thing celebrities do. That encourages the Paps and fuels the fires.

Famous or not, no one wants to be stuck in their home because some Dumb A#$ wants to prevent what it cost for new laws and stricter regulation of what the paps are doing. Didnt we learn any thing from Di? Oh wait, from what all of you think, Di should have stayed home too.

In total agreement!!
And re: what D says -- MJ has Neverland, Elvis had Graceland, Walt had Disneyland...

I know what she could do, she could buy up some government land over an old nuclear test site in Nevada, build herself a fake town, like the one the FBI and Secret Service use for training. It could build a Starbuck$, a Rite-Aid and a Taverna Tony's. She could drive around her streets aimlessly while the live-in paps followed her everwhere. She could hire "actors" and "dancers" to man all the fake stores. They would have the added benefit of being able to hone their mad acting skillz by fawning over her when she dropped by.

This way, she wouldn't be putting the public (or public funds) in danger every time she went somewhere.

And, as an added benefit, since she'd be the Mayor of Britneyville, NV she could make a rule declaring every Friday be no underwear day!

The way I see it, it's win-win. Well, for everyone except Nevada.

Narcissus: You're absolutely right. Her life was not in immediate danger, and this wasn't a presidential escort.

But...considering what happened the last time the ambulance was called to Brit's house, and the ensuing pandemonium that happened en route with the paps following the ambulance, some sort of preplanning and police help was undoubtedly necessary to ensure the safety of both the medical workers and innocent drivers of other vehicles.

They could have toned it down a bit, though... ;)
