Acronyms Make Scientology Seem Smart And Stuff, Plus More CCHR Email Leaks

Yet another treasure trove of emails have been leaked to the internet from the Scientology front group CCHR. Here’s a link to the new set of emails should you wish to enjoy reading stilted pseudo-sci-tech speak peppered with a fair amount of hatred, intolerance and vaguely threatening overtones. Sometimes I need to just sit down and watch Spongebob Squarepants to decompress my brain after reading all this bizarre weirdness.

One thing occurred to me when I was checking this story out and that’s how much the Church of Scientology LOVES, and I mean, LOVES using acronyms for everything. The more you think about it, its just one more way of separating US from THEM. The latest one comes from the CCHR email leak: LEAF, or Letters To The Editors Attack FORCE. See that, wasn’t that clever. The U.S. Government likes to use acronyms too. Maybe it makes them feel more official, more bureaucratic, more special. It’s also neat way of hiding information from the masses.

Us non-Scientologists or “wogs” as they refer to us, don’t understand their special language. Well, that was before the internets. I bet L. Ron Hubbard never anticipated the world wide web. Then again, no one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

So here’s a nice little glossary of some of my favorite CoS terms. Their so goofy, little and silly. Like their leader. For a full list of CoS terms, check out Xenu.net’s guide.

OT - Operating Thetan
MEST - Matter, Energy, Space and Time
Ack - Acknowledgment
BT - Body Thetan
CC - Celebrity Center
COB RTC - Chairman of the Board for the Religious Technology Center, aka David Miscavige, or the head shorty in charge!
CoS - My favorite, Church of Scientology or as some people like to write it Co$
KSW - Keep Scientology Working
RD - Rundown
SP - Suppressive Person
Sec Check - auditing, confession, blackmail fodder
PTS - Potential trouble source, as in, “That bitch at Glosslip is a real PTS!”
Wog - A derogatory and racist term the cult co-opted from British slang, and now uses to refer to people outside of Scientology’s purview. Sort of like a Muggle from the Harry Potter series, but far less cool.

In fact, Scientology seems more like an alternative (though quite fictional) universe made up of people hoping to attain “super-human” powers so they can clear the planet of undesirables, like me.

Honestly, I am going to need an assistant to keep up with the leaks, outflow and otherwise flood of CoS secrets popping up these days. It’s like some kind of dam broke and Scientologists are running from the valley before they are all washed away.

  3. First Knowledge is free, unlike the Church of Scientology I encourage you to find out for yourself.

Scientology is not a religion nor a charity but an unscrupulous for profit business.

They charge their members increasing fees for “auditing” sessions with members paying over One Hundred thousand dollars ($100,000+) before even learning the whole story of the murdered alien spirits that they believe cluster around the bodies of all living individuals.
    See:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientology_as_a_business

R.L. Hubbard also describes the world’s other religions as part of the “various misleading data” implanted into the memories of those same alien spirits. And their members are discouraged from being treated or taking medicine for mental and even physical disorders.
    See:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenu
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medical_claims_in_Scientology_doctrine

If scientology’s beliefs about mental and physical illness are correct then why have members such as Lisa McPherson died in their care.

All we ask is that you be informed. Information is our weapon, help us help others avoid this scam.

  9. There’s something strangely a priori about abbreviation. It allows the user of the terms a means of sidestepping what they literally refer to. If you refer to someone as an SP, you disconnect to some extent from the notion of “suppressive person”. Whereas it is easy for someone to see a genuine religious bigot as being a suppressive person, it is harder to classify someone who discusses the beliefs, or criticises the behaviour of the Church, as being suppressive. But as soon as you start dealing with SPs instead of Suppressive Persons, you don’t need to legitimise the claim you are making about them. Then an SP becomes whatever it is you attach the label to, irrespective of the validity of the definition.

Also, you’re boiling down sometimes quite complicated notions into a tiny tiny phrase or word. Very Nuspeak. Ideas and accusations that should be dwealt upon become a brief rattle over the points. In a single breath, abbreviation allows Co$ to accuse critics of the church of being suppressive persons, despite Hubbard himself stating, in Dianetics, “We should feel free to examine the basic assumptions of any body of knowledge we wish, without fear of committing lese majeste. If any system of thought is going to wither in the light of investigation, it does not deserve the title of Authority.”

The power, then, that the use of abbreviation has over a Scientologist cannot be understated. They will not engage in dialogue with critics, because in their mind, the only counterargument they need is a couple of letters long. They can disregard the critics, because the critics are SPs. Sadly, for the Church at least, truth remains truth irrespective of its origins.

also, I got an email from someone claiming to be anonymous telling me basically I am spewing hate speech and essentially implying I’ve lost it and I am doing no one any good, and rather than helping, I am hurting the cause.

If there are any other anons who feel that way, then feel free to step forward and tell me how you feel.

Otherwise, I will assume that email was from a Scilon trying to piss me off. It worked and now I am pissed.

So instead of “chilling out” I will do the opposite. NO ONE tells me how to write or what to write behind some protected proxified fake-ass email.

  33. Way to go Dawn. It most definitely seems that Co$ is changind their tactics. You should see the videos currently on you tube claiming to be from anon launching an attack on the catholic church and calling for protest on Easter Sunday. They are desperatly trying to derail the pickets by getting fringe anons ( no insulted meant) who may not have researched as deeply and may not be as adept at spotting the scilon. They are blocking any responses to anyone trying to expose their con. They ysed pictures from the pcikets Feb. 10 and photoshopped nasty anti catholic slogans, pictures of the Pope, etc. Hey they had to do something with all the videos and pictures they took on their side right! This is just more of their tech to dig up dirt and if there isn’t any make it up. You go girl! Hmmm wonder what happened to all the trolls. They seem to have disappeared.

  35. The acronyms actually helps with the brainwashing. If you hear something that sounds suspicious or wrong, it’s harder to tell if you’re simply misunderstanding it if it’s couched in a barrage of slang and jargon. L Ron used the concept of *requiring* his followers to understand every word he used heavily to quell dissention. Don’t understand why Fair Gaming is OK? You must have misunderstood some crucial word or acronym.

Also, acronyms seperate a thing from the idea of the thing. For example, L Ron Hubbard was a balding sci-fi writer who had three wives and died of a drug overdose, but LRH is the genius writer of the tech. Using LRH to refer to L Ron removes him from his actual real life.

  36.
  37. Dawn,

Don’t forget the basic rules of Fair Game- you can be lied, tricked, manipulated or destroyed in the name of protecting the CON. They’ve just changed tactics, but not their tone- gotta love “the most ethical people on the planet”! There are a few Scilons who are attempting to pose as Anonymous, both online and at the protests, so don’t let them throw you off your game. You’re doing a wonderful job- don’t let anyone tell you anything different.

Speaking of the Tone Scale, as you’re a wonderful source of information that exposes the Church, you’d rank below 2.0 on theirs- meaning the CoS believes that you should either be handled or have a bullet placed in your brain. That’s what would happen to all the SPs if David Miscavige and Tom Cruise would have their way. How else do you think they’re going to clear the planet?

Another fun little tip- I highly suggest to start looking into David Miscavige’s crimes. According to blown-for-good, an amazing inside source, wee Davie hates - HATES - it when he is held accountable for his temper tantrums, dubious accounting and outright fraud that he directs every day. Even hard core Scilons should have a beef with him, as he has “squirrelled” the tech, changing, omitting or redefining Hubbard’s original texts, prompting even long term Scilons to repurchase books and courses.

Happy hunting and keep up the excellent work!

  39. Mitsu –

Wow, did they really do that??

    EXCELLENT!

Someone needs to get on the job, quick, making videos that show the original footage and the manipulated footage, because I’m sure when you see the two together, it’ll be obvious that Photoshopped Footage is Photoshopped.

This video needs to be put up on YouTube; YouTube allows members to selectively delete comments on their videos or turn off commenting on their videos but to my knowledge you can’t disallow someone making “responses” to your videos.

The press should also be alerted to this; it could be another “man with no head” story, where we show to a potentially international audience the Co$ tendency to blatantly manufacture false evidence to suit its purposes of the moment. That, my friends, is gold. Whenever Scientology tries after that to make claims about Anonymous being “religious bigots” we can show with a single URL the proof that (having no evidence for such an allegation) Scientology cold-bloodedly attempted to frame Anonymous. Anonymous gets the win; the Scilons get EPIC FAIL.

I found it interesting that there was a bunch of videos posted by this individual in a batch and he/she joined only very recently prior to the psoting. I commented on that video within minutes of it being posted yet my comments never psoted and from what I’ve been reading many many others have been blocked from commenting so the only thing you see is comments supporting the message or angry people denouncing anonymous. There are some excellent video response one of which is from HolygroundCF and if I did it right you can see it here, http://youtube.com/watch?v=-jdbb1_Oafg. There are also responses from anymous here http://youtube.com/watch?v=RtxcVTT27wQ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-SxmeyZR1g. I hope I did this right. The very thing that makes anonymous strong (its anonymity) also allows Co$ or others to plant false information. So for the newbies ( relatively new here but it only took a few hours of browsing to start seeing the big picture) take the time to check out the sources.

  55. To tell the truth there’s not much new to be curious regarding this particular tabloid hate attack on Scientology. Really it just looks like another tabloid opportunization.

If I were to use the terminology correctly for which Dawn provided embellished “definitions” for in the statement “These comments sound more woggy and more likely PTS rather than suppressive”, I would pretty much be saying that the comments’ writer’s know very little about Scientology and maybe are influenced by a suppressive. Where the term suppressive would refer to a mastermind having evil intentions motivated or paid for by pharmaceutical money. Of course on this particular set of comments the promotion of pharmaceutical use hasn’t yet been raised as on many other comment lists. However, I’m still curious that even Anonymous would promote anything having do with lobotomies, electro-convulsive therapy, insulin shock, or psychotropics (chemical lobotomies in my opinion). Of course Anonymous is legion which I guess means they are some sort of coalition even if they mostly disagree.

On that note, it’s my opinion that whoever sent that email saying they were Anonymous and that Dawn should desist with the tabloid hate would either be an actual “representative” of Anonymous or simply stupid and if I were to find out he were a Scientologist, I wouldn’t defend him in any way in spite of any good intentions. I am somewhat curious though. Could Dawn post the actual email contents?

  61. Narcissus, what else would you call a website with the name of Glosslip. Actually nothing wrong with being a tabloid. Sometimes they actually reveal some truth in their “sensationalism” of it. Tabloids are hard to be convicted of libel as everyone knows what they are and are usually good for publicity anyway.

if anybody didn’t know CCHR had Scientology roots, then I suppose that they know now. I went and looked over some of these leaked emails and I suppose that somewhere in these emails there was something about Scientology. I suppose that someone could suppose this somehow discredits the core purpose of these emails and others which are to decry laws being passed that route people onto psychotropic drugs, ECT(electro-convulsive therapy), etc. without their consent. Now, I’m curious as to why CCHR is being targeted here as opposed to Narconon(A program for getting people off of narcotics), Criminon(A program to rehabilitate criminals), and Applied Scholastics(a program to assist students in getting through school), and others which are based on Scientology. Perhaps I was too quick with my conclusion that Anonymous was not promoting PsychoPharmaceuticals, etc. on this particular site. Perhaps Anonymous is more formidable that I thought.

  63. Hey curiouser, it seems your reading and comprehension abilities have failed you miserably. If you could read and comprehend Anon comments properly, you’d see that Anon are CLEARLY opposed to ALL CoS front groups being used for the recruitment of people at vulnerable moments in their lives, including Narconon & Criminon. When it comes to CCHR, that is affecting some of the MOST vulnerable people in our community and feel that the CoS needs to GTFO of medical related issues because it simply fails to scientifically or even unbiasedly back up it’s claims.
As for Applied Scholastics, it seems you are doing a good enough job discrediting their validity yourself. Thanks! ;^)

  71. Oh, you guys — Curioser is actually a scientologist. He seems to’ve decided to change his tone from his previous comments (s/he was more agressive previously), but the content is the same. On that note, has anyone else recieved their cheques from the APA yet? I’ll be enjoying my 9010$ ;)
Also, Curioser, have you ever seen a stupid person do something active (such as sending an email) as a reaction to something that they were unrelated to? I bet not. A stupid person would only feel the need to actually do something if they felt challenged or insulted, and I think it’s safe to assume that only a Scientologist would feel insulted or challenged faced with these articles. And the core purpose of the CCHR emails is pretty obvious (y’know, strategically and ferociously discrediting articlse that exposed their fraudulent methods).

D, you’re doing a great job. Whoever sent you that email was obviously a Scientologist, and you should ignore it. Chances are that you’ll be recieving more like that, but that’s what happens as you head deeper into the rabbit’s hole. You just gotta take it in stride <3

  75. Curioser,

If you really want to get picky, “tabloid” doesn’t actually mean a publication that reports on celebrity/ entertainment news- it refers to where a newspaper is folded- taboids are half the size of broadsheets, and are usually associated with the lower portions of society, as they were usually less expensive, had a less challenging vocabulary, and were easier to read in close quarters, such as public transportation.

Regardless of whether a newspaper is a tabloid or broadsheet, if a publication prints an inaccuracy, then it is the responsibility of the injured party to prove the publication wrong- and that is why there are so few suits against them. In order to prove a tabloid incorrect, one must then open up a celebrity’s life to the public to prove that the publication has printed a falsehood, something a celebrity is usually loath to do. Newspapers and magazines are in the business of NOT being sued- it would be very irresponsible and lousy business (not to mention short term) practice if publications repeatedly printed outrageous and outlandish lies. Just because you don’t want something to be true doesn’t mean that it isn’t.

What is happening here is not muckracking- where’s the muck? There are quotes from legitimate news gathering organizations, and Dawn’s editorial, her own personal point of view, which in this country (last time I checked) was still something she had a right not only to have, but to voice.

As for Anonymous being involved with Big Pharma- there are many silly accusations I have read on many of the CoS apologist entries here and elsewhere, but this has to take the cake. Think about it for a moment- even though I am not a member of Anon and therefore cannot 100% guarantee this, it would be unrealistic and vastly unbelievable that large multi national conglomerates, worth billions of dollars, and employers of hundreds of thousands of people would be taking orders from nameless, faceless hackers. Do you see how outrageous and unrealistic that notion sounds?

Drugs, whether for malaria or depression, take years to develop, market and pass FDA compliance. Anonymous’ battle with Scientology has been waged for the last couple of months. You do the math. Even if this sounds reasonable to you, how would Big Pharma meet with Anonymous? What good would their association bring?

As for your problems with Dawn’s definitions, here it is from the horse’s mouth- the official Scientology dictionary. You can find it here at http://www.scientology.org/gloss.htm#o

OT - OT: abbreviation for Operating Thetan. See Operating Thetan in this glossary. Operating Thetan: a state of being above Clear, in which the Clear has become refamiliarized with his native capabilities.
MEST - mest: a word coined from the initial letters of matter, energy, space and time, which are the component parts (elements) of the physical universe.
Ack - not in the official CoS dictionary
BT - not in the official CoS dictionary- perhaps because it refers to higher levels that are “protected” by the church.
    CC - Celebrity Center
COB RTC - Chairman of the Board for the Religious Technology Center.
CoS - abbreviation for the Church of Scientology
KSW - abbreviation for “Keep Scientology Working”
RD - rundown: a series of related actions in Scientology which culminate in a specific end result. For example, the Drug Rundown consists of several different auditing processes and actions which, done fully and in sequence, result in the freeing of a person from the mental and spiritual effects of drugs.
SP - suppressive person: a person who possesses a distinct set of characteristics and mental attitudes that cause him to suppress other people in his vicinity. This is the person whose behavior is calculated to be disastrous. Also called antisocial personality.
Sec Check - Not in official Scientology dictionary- might put off the punters!
PTS - a person who is in some way connected to and being adversely affected by a suppressive person. Such a person is called a potential trouble source because he can be a lot of trouble to himself and to others. See also suppressive person in this glossary.
Wog - Not in official Scientology dictionary- oddly enough neither is “Raw Meat.”

And before you get your knickers in a twist, Curiouser, there is a citation stating that these terms and definations come from a CoS publication, and therefore is public domain; in other words can be used by anyone who wishes to cite it.

By the way, maybe you could explain something to me. If the CoS is a Church, then why does it have copyright and trademark protection that is so rigorously protected? Why is it the only Church in America to have such protection?

I do feel that Curioser does however bring up one good point; why are we -only- targeting the CCHR? I can understand that they have made their presence clear lately (they picketed something about their using drugs or something to that effect), but Narconon and Crimonon are both dangerous organizations who lure in innocent people with their misleading names (Narconon especially, some people think it’s Narcotics Anonymous), and Applied Scholastics has no educational merit what-so-ever (a study was actually published that demonstrated their methods were inferior to those used in the Public Schools — y’ouch!).
