More Weirdness From Church of Scientology Leader David Miscavige

david.jpg
Many ex-Scientologists have given eye-witness reports to having seen CoS leader, David Miscavige, beat subordinates for perceived slights and failures. Perhaps this explains why David’s father, Ronald Miscavige, asked a police officer to “beat him” instead of issuing him a ticket during a traffic stop for reckless driving.

Here’s the exact statement as recorded by arresting officer John Lenton:

“I asked Ronald what he was doing driving so recklessly. Ronald said he was late for work. Ronald said,” I know I ran a red light.” Ronald continued by saying he was wrong and deserved a ticket but was very late for work. Ronald asked me to beat him instead of giving him a ticket.”

Does this sound like the normal response when being cited for reckless driving? Well, before you attempt this strategy during your next stop from the local authorities, you should know this did NOT get Ronald Miscavige out of the ticket. In fact, he was arrested, fingerprinted and referred to the district attorney’s office. What happens next is interesting too.

After reviewing the case, Judge Bishop sentenced Ronald to 100 hours of community service for his conviction of reckless driving. So, imagine my surprise to find where Ronald completed his court-ordered service: Golden Era Productions.

In case you aren’t familiar, Golden Era Productions is a Scientology owned organization which produces much of the promotional material put out by the Church of Scientology. Here’s what Wikipedia says about Golden Era Productions:

Golden Era Productions is an organization operated by the Church of Scientology that produces promotional material for the Church’s membership, as well as many of the restored lectures, E-meters, training films and other materials related to the scriptures or works of church founder L. Ron Hubbard. [1]

Originally known as Source Productions, Golden Era Production is staffed by Sea Organization members who work 60 hours a week. It is situated on the 500 acre area in Gilman Hot Springs near Hemet, California.

The facility has numerous full-size sound stages. Their computer facility includes an uninterruptable power supply that fills a small building. Visitors are required to be escorted everywhere by a staff member.

The compound is also said to be the home of some church officials including David Miscavige, the chairman of the board of the RTC.

One would think this a conflict of interest, yet nothing surprises me about Scientology anymore. It seems this may not have been the only run in with the law Ron Miscavige, Sr. had. According to several accounts, Ronald Sr. was implicated in a rape in Philadelphia. But, thanks to son David’s use of lawyers, PI’s and money, all traces of a crime were erased and only an internet full of recovered data remains. To this day, someone knows what happened, but since they clearly aren’t coming forward, the rape can only be classified a “myth.”

Another weird thing about David Miscavige is the mysterious death of his mother-in-law, Florence Barnett. You can read about her suicide in 1985 here. Florence Barnett was found shot dead with three gun-shot wounds to her chest and one to her temple. You know what they say, dead mother-in-laws tell no tales.

Honestly, one could devote an entire book to the intricacies of Scientology and its leader. I have found the process of documenting the many aberrations and strange occurrences both fascinating and revolting. It amazes me how Scientology has managed to thrive for as long as it has considering the number of critics it has accumulated over the years.

Only time will tell whether Scientology can ever come clean to its critics and reform its perceived image as a sinister cult.

  11. First Knowledge is free, unlike the Church of Scientology I encourage you to find out for yourself.

Scientology is not a religion nor a charity but an unscrupulous for profit business.

They charge their members increasing fees for “auditing” sessions with members paying over One Hundred thousand dollars ($100,000+) before even learning the whole story of the murdered alien spirits that they believe cluster around the bodies of all living individuals.
    See:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientology_as_a_business

R.L. Hubbard also describes the world’s other religions as part of the “various misleading data” implanted into the memories of those same alien spirits. And their members are discouraged from being treated or taking medicine for mental and even physical disorders.
    See:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenu
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medical_claims_in_Scientology_doctrine

If scientology’s beliefs about mental and physical illness are correct then why have members such as Lisa McPherson died in their care.

All we ask is that you be informed. Information is our weapon, help us help others avoid this scam.

  13. I have been reading about this stuff for most of the morning and it tires me out. It saps my energy. We don’t need to apologize to the world for our recognition of insanity it is self evident. Currently much of our world view is insane. Wars, interpersonal relationships, government, religion, mental health. Recognition is the key to change. We can’t rid the world of insanity by pointing at it and yelling unfair. We need to recognize it and then move on. Find our own SANITY and then no religion or group including, scientology (no caps intentional) will not have the strength we give it now by engaging in debate with them. I DON’T mean ignore or pretend its not there. We need to be constantly awake to the world around us. It is the world we live in after all. scientology is just one more manifestation of the worlds INSANITY. My intent is to find my own SANITY (awake ness) and see what it tells me. Hope you all have a good day.

  19. I’ve always heard the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Kind of like “Go back to the beginning, and start again.”

Hi Terryeo, I know you recognize the above statement from auditing with the supah-dupah high tech e-meter. Did you get the different results you were expecting? Faster than a speeding bullet or more poweful than a locomotive yet? Oh well, take heart, Davey and his sailor suit are rewriting source as we speak to build that bridge Juuuuust a little bit longer.

  23. Also, Terryeo, if you are still torturing yourself by reading this, go to lermanet.com. He has the actual documents and an MP3 statement there that relate to this article. You have been supporting a dangerous cult. There is still time to change. The people you perceive to be your enemies will actually help you if you snap your chains. The fellow on the MP3 got out and he explains how difficult it is. It can be done though.

  27. Hello Terryeo
Fortunately sanity and awake ness have nothing to do with scientology. Awareness is a very personal experience and does not require high cost special training. It is available to everyone with a heart and the ability to separate who they are from who they THINK they are. The ability to recognize that they are not their thoughts. Thoughts are just Thoughts no more real than a dream. Unfortunately the affect of non wakefulness seems to have a very adverse affect those around us and on the world as a whole. Any group including scientology which has a basic tenet of us vs them mentality is definitely not awake to reality. They cause a sense of paranoia amongst their members that is insanity personified. I feel great compassion for those humans who are caught up in that insanity. Please don’t misunderstand my compassion for acceptance of scientology’s propaganda. It is all a lie and it is a vicious lie which hurts many people. Wake up!!

  29. Most of the public does not know Jack about CoS, so the bare bones basics need to be mentioned often:

Scientology is two groups, not one: 1) A bunch of people with peculiar beliefs who deserve to be left alone to do their own thing, and 2) An organized crime gang that uses extortion and harassment to silence its victims and critics, lives high from the fruits of forced labor, and occasionally kills people.

Guess which group is completely in charge of Scientology?

Dianetics is a motivational self-help program invented in the 1950s by a science fiction writer. Scientology is a bizarre religion started by the same writer, to obtain tax exemptions and broad legal immunities for the high-pressure pyramid scheme he created to sell the course.

Scientologists are routinely ordered to break off any contact with family members and friends who are critical of the Church, and those who resist such orders are systematically punished. This by itself identifies the CoS as a dangerous cult.

The only drawback I see to the current public information campaign is that it will drive many who are already in the cult to a much deeper commitment, based on resistance to a common enemy. We can not over emphasize the importance of treating Scientologists with respect and compassion. They are doing the best they know how to improve themselves and to offer the same to others – no more, no less. As an institution, the Church of Scientology has to die. But as people, Scientologists are more than welcome (in my book) to keep and practice their methods and beliefs.

  31. You are not entirely correct Steve, Anonymous, the group currently fighting the CoS seeks only to dismantle the organization which runs Scientology. They’ve taken great strides to separate the Dianetics from the org. They’ve shown great compassion and pity for the rank and file members, any suggestion to contrary shows how little you know about the current movement.

If you want people who are wishing to harass Dianentics, go to Gawker or any other celeb gossip site, though I must say everything beyond Dianetics is complete and utter nonsense. Xenu, aliens, thetans – all bs from the mind of a paranoid sci-fi writer trying to construct a religion for tax and protection purposes.

  35. The old saying “You are known by your enemies” is revelatory here. The constant hue and cry is that Scientology management is bad/awful/mean and probably eats bugs.

Yet the anti-Scientologists reliably cite allegations, jump up and down, froth a bit, and–in the end–they never produce any ^facts.^

There is never proof. If i were consumed by their irrational anger, I could swear before a notary, I could make an MPEG or MP3, propounding that Arnie Lerma, the ingenuous Steve K and the oh-so-understanding “D” above remain, to this day, chronic bed-wetters. But it would just be noise and syllables, not truth.

That’s how the obsessive anti-Scientologists work.

Does anyone think that, if there were anything legally wrong with Scientology, that it would still be around??

Don’t you know that there are rafts of government agencies with the hearts of Cylons who’d love an “I killed Scientology” feather in their cap?

Don’t you think they’d like a way to lay their hands on those yummy bank accounts?

Don’t you think the IRS was frothing at the mouth to “get” Scientology and appropriate a decade of back taxes?

And yet you always find a way to explain away all those facts, to give credit to “Scientology’s high-priced lawyers,” yada-yada.

Yet, when there was a factual crime–when the Scientology 9 wrongfully broke into a government office (30 years ago?)–no high-priced lawyers did them any good. They went to jail. That example–so often cited (yet never dated)–comically disproves what it hopes to persuade.

Face facts: Scientology is no one’s whipping boy. It won’t capitulate. You won’t have grounds for any more suits. The organization watches its p’s and q’s rigorously because that’s what Church policy tells it to do.

You are spinning your wheels and being ^knowingly^ dishonest every time you spew unsupported, schoolyard adjectives and accusations.

If all Scientology’s enemies can do is name-call and amp up the volume, pitch and dissonance, then know that you convince only the unschooled and unintelligent.

Seeing your tactics makes me proud to be a Scientologist.
