Andrew Morton Glosslip Interview - Part 3 - Tom Cruise’s Choice: His Children or Scientology?

In this segment, the third in the series, Andrew answers a difficult hypothetical question: If one of Tom Cruise’s children were to defect from the Church of Scientology, would HE disconnect from them? Andrew’s answer is measured, but concise.

This was a very important question I felt, as this is a very real issue for members of Scientology every day. The Church has an active disconnect policy which requires them to officially declare they have disconnected from a person who has left the faith, be it a wife, mother, father, or child — whomever. To me, above all other abuses, this policy is the most reprehensible and cruel.

  5. What is truly sad is that Tom Cruise has spent soooo much money and been such a freak for this cult, that now he cannot say “oops, made a mistake.” His ego is just too huge, he could never humble himself. He would have to disconnect — from Katie, Suri, his other children, his mother. It wouldn’t matter.

  7. To put it as simply as possible, Scientology proposes that “knowledge in recall” is one situation, whereas “understood, useable knowledge” is a different situation. And focuses on bringing the first situation into the second situation. So, hey, if you don’t want to understand that, who is to stop you? Have a nice day, refuse to understand all you want to, heh.

  17. I think all religions are crazy. Period. For example, how many of you know that Jesus said the following in Luke: “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple” (Luke 14:26)

Or this in Matthew: “Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.” (Matthew 10:34)

Yet Jesus is accepted. You’re all nuts. If we had any balls we’d go after all religions!
