Vanilla Ice Is A Wife-Beater And A Never-Was

Ice, Ice, Baby my arse! Wife beaters need a good swift kick to the teeth as far as I am concerned, and Robert Van Winkle (aka Vanilla Ice) is no exception. This is Robert’s second arrest for domestic abuse (he was arrested on similar charges in 2004) and that makes it a pattern, not an accident.

According to a report in the Palm Beach Post, Van Winkle went postal on his wife after she purchased a bedroom set:

Deputies arrived at their Wellington home around 7:15 p.m. to find the 40-year-old star, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, on his motorcycle, two blocks from their home.

He started yelling at me for going out to buy a bedroom set. In front of my daughter,” she told a deputy, the arrest report says. “I’m sorry I can’t say any more until I talk to an attorney.”

Her husband, in turn, told deputies that he and his wife had been arguing since the previous day.

He said his wife is bipolar and takes medication but still has irrational and argumentative episodes and had thrown a picture frame from a rear balcony to the ground, where it shattered near him and their 8- and 10-year-old children.

He denied pushing his wife, the report says. He said he left on his motorcycle so they could cool down.

It’s not the first time he has been arrested in South Florida. In 2004, he was booked into the Broward County Jail on a domestic battery charge, records show.

In addition, a series of driving infractions - including driving with an expired license, driving 74 mph in a 45 mph zone and having illegally tinted car windows - culminated in a warrant for his arrest after he missed a court appearance.

He also was hit with $220 in impounding fees in 2004 when his pet wallaroo and goat escaped in Port St. Lucie and were picked up by animal control officers.

There’s likely more to this story than we are getting, and Mrs. Van Winkle may be a loose cannon herself, but there’s never an excuse to start slapping people around. Just walk away, call the cops, leave, whatever, but don’t start giving beatdowns in front of the kids.

Having witnessed the insane amount of anger which lurks in Vanilla Ice’s heart, it doesn’t surprise me to hear he can’t control himself. During his stint on the “Surreal Life” on VH1, he was often seen having angry meltdowns, including intimidating women on the show. What’s with all the anger people? First Artie Lange, now Vanilla Ice. It’s the recession, I blame the recession. Makes peeps loopy!

  1. sorry dawn, on the fence on this one, inclined to disagree, actually.

after all, it takes two to tango. theyve got 2 kids, theyve been together for a long time, and only two arrests for “domestic abuse”? and she’s all “i can’t say any more until i talk to an attorney”? sounds shady, almost like she’s blowing the situation up so that she can be seen as the sole victim. besides, ive read nothing about hospitalization in either case…and having seen him on the surreal life (that whole chair throwing, wall-smashing thing does point to a temper), its clear that he is capable of doing a lot of damage if he really wants to.

im a loose cannon myself, and the type that knows how to push my partner’s buttons quite efficiently, but i don’t throw things and i’m not pushed around. pretty reasonable arrangement, if you ask me.

tbh, im biased. i watched for years as someone very close to me stayed in an abusive relationship…she was a very attractive woman when they met, but years of emotional and physical abuse turned her into a bitter, angry, ugly person. despite her eyes being opened, she still resents all those that tried to free her from the relationship at the time, and we havent spoken since (not for lack of trying, believe me). that is a woman who is scarred, who has had her life destroyed by abuse.

this one could easily leave and sue van winkle for child support and alimony.

then again, i dont know them, so i cant say shit. but this IS a gossip blog, so ill speculate as i damn well please! lol

  3. I tried to suggest there may be “more” to the story and I know couples fight, but if she has bi-polar disorder he should be more aware of his wife’s inherent “limitations” to be reasonable.

I just despise spousal abuse, there’s never any real excuse for it from either side.

  5. You Glosslippers know he’s a Scientologist? He may not still be, but he was in. There were reports a couple years ago, and on the Surreal Life, he got into it with Tammy Faye Bakker about how we descended from aliens!

Guess they weren’t able to help with his ability to confront!

  7. Good point about all the anger about these days. I live in NYC and I have seen such anger and hostility brewing on the streets. You know, in the wake of 911, there was a kind of a period of peace & reflection. People were actually nicer to one another for a time. But I think that 8 long years of Bush and the damage that administration has caused in the world has taken its’ toll. The war, the economy, the fear, the lies…it all adds up. We need new leadership. And we need it more than ever.

    Peace.
