BREAKING: Daughter of Norwegian Parliament Took Life After Taking Scientology Personality Tests

There’s not a lot of detail on this yet, as it’s in Norwegian, and since I am only Norwegian through marriage, I can’t translate. Andreas, publisher of Operation Clambake (huge CoS critic site) posted this story up on their message boards. Here’s the newsreport from an Norwegian outlet, in Norwegian. Someone on the OCBM tried to translate, so here’s what we have so far:

UPDATE: Better translation from Enturbulation.org: -

Verdens Gang:
A little over two weeks ago Kaja Bordevich Ballo (20) committed suicide - a few hours after she’d recieved a devastating result on a personality test administrated by the Church of Scientology.

The police in the southern French town of Nice - where Kaja studied at the university of Nice Sophia Antipolis - are investigating the controversial church’s connection to the event.

Kajas father is the noted politician Olav Gunnar Ballo (SV), a member of parliament for years, vice president of Odelstinget and fearless healthcare spokesperson for his party. Maried to Ballo and mother of Kaja is Heidi Sørensen (SV). Sørensen has previously been the leader of Naturvernforbundet and a member of parliament, she is now a undersecretary of state at Miljøverndepartementet.

The news VG publishes today, are printed after agreement with Ballo himself, and the rest of Kaja’s family.

- The information about the Scientology test has been made public through the priest’s speech at the memorial service. I can confirm that. Due to the recency of her death, I don’t wish to elaborate on or comment on other matters now, Olav Gunnar Ballo told VG.

Kaja died on March 28, and was buried at Grefsen church last friday. A large group of friends followed her to the grave. Many were also in support during a memorial held in the Stortinget the same afternoon.

Personality test
According to information VG has received, the connection to the Scientologists was made after the family found a completed personality test and the Church of Scientology’s analysis of what they contend is her personality, in Kaja’s 17 sqm student room after her death.

The test had been timestamped and dated: It had been taken the same day as her death. The Church of Scientology have their premises only a few meters from the student home where Kaja lived.

Henrik Møinichen (19), a fellow student of Kaja, tells VG that he walked with Kaja to the university and class at nine o’clock on friday the 28 of March.

- In my opinion she was as usual. She participated in class as usual, talked and was happy, Møinichen told VG.

After the class in French for foreigners was over at 11 o’clock, Henrik left for the Nice airport to meet his father. Henrik lives in the neigboring room to Kaja. The last he heard of her, was that she was walking around her room at three-four o’clock in the afternoon. He was out of his room the rest of the day with his father.

As far as VG has been able to discern no friends or acquaintances had been in contact with the 20-year-old between the timestamp of the test, and the time at which she was found dead.

Vulnerable spot
- The test was found at her place by the family. After she was finished at school I’ve heard she went to buy clothes for someone. This is how she supposedly came in contact with the Church of Scientology, Møinichen says.

From what VG has been told Kaja received an extremely bad result on the test.

- I have a feeling that something must have happened suddenly, that they hit a vulnerable spot. Personally I believe that Kaja had been alive today if she hadn’t been in contact with the scientologists. I had the impression that she enjoyed Nice. She often spoke of the the future and her plans at the university, said Møinichen.

OCBM translation:

2 weeks ago KBB took her life - few hours later she had received a devastating result of a personality test at the church of scientology.

The police in Nice - where Kaja studied at the University in Sophia Antipolis - are looking into the church’s connection with the case.

The information in VG today is printed in understanding with Ballo and the rest of Kajas family.

The information about the Scientology test is known through the ministers speech at the funeral. I can confirm it. But due to the closeness in time to the dead, I don’t want to comment on it, says Olav Gunnar Ballo to VG.

According to information VG has gotten the connection to the scientologists was done after the family found a finished personality test and the church of scientology’s analyses of what the mean is her personality, at Kaja’s apartment after her dead.

The test had time and date on it: It was done on the same day as her dead [found dead]. The church of Scientology has rooms just a few meters from the place where Kaja lived.

HM, college friend of Kaja, tells VG that he went with K to the university and lectures at 9 oclock on friday the 28. of march.

In my opinion she was like she usually is. She participated in the lesson, talked and was happy, says M to VG.

When the lesson in French for foreigners ended at 11, Henrik went to the airport to met his father. Henrik lives next door to Kaja. The last he heard was that she went into her room at 3-4 in the afternoon. The rest of the day he was out with his father.

From what VG knows none others have been in contact with the 20 years old between the time of the test and the time she was found dead.

SÃ¥rbart punkt
Vulnabel point (button)

The test was found at her home by her family. After she finished school I heard that she went to buy some clothes. That is when she came into contact with the church of scientology says M.

From what VG has been told, Kaja got an extremely bad result on the test.

I feel something most have happened - that they have pushed a vulnerable spot in her. Personally I think that Kaja had been alive today had she not come in contact with the scientologist. I got the impression that she was doing fine in Nice. She often talked about the future and her plans at the university, says M.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kaja’s family. We will keep you posted on any new developments in this terrible tragedy.

  3. The Free ‘personality test’ the Co$ uses is designed to give people a low score so they feel that something is wrong with them that only scientology can help them as a method of pulling people into their cult.

  5. This is probably a moot point and an obvious question, but I have never seen the answer anywhere.

Just curious…are there any statistics out there from any source that count the number of people over the years the COS have given the free “personality test” to and were found out to be happy with their life?

I know the answer is zero for they would never let any walkin’ talkin’ $$$ out the door and that their belief is that anyone who is not one of them needs that crap. But if more people really understood that NO ONE in the HISTORY of that CULT has ever had anything but a negative result…maybe more people would stay away.

After all, why would someone want to be told that they are screwed up? Then maybe the connection can be established right up front that the CULT doesn’t give a hoot about their “well being” but only needs more members and hence money to perpetuate.

But then again that insidious CULT understands what Barnum knew… “There’s a sucker born every minute.” Or in their case… “There’s a victim born every minute.”

  7. Kaja’s family deserves our complete support.

This is not surprising at all, and I bet there are many examples of this insanity. That so many people kill themselves because of the conduct of the CoS should tell law enforcement all they need to know.

Many people coming up on the street have no idea what kind of vultures the CoS sales force is. They see the e-meter and think it is a biofeedback device and that these people must be like trained psychologists.

That’s the CoS’s game. They fool you into thinking you are a vile person by administration of a fraudulent “personality test” in an attempt to draw you into the cult. And of course, the only reason why they want to draw you in is for the money.

This is one more area that would be ripe for a class action under a deceptive trade practices cause of action. Profit through fraud and lies. I would love to see a deposition where questions such as these were asked:

Over your years in the CoS, how many tests have you personally administered?

So, have you ever administered a personality test wherein the result was favorable to the prospective member?

Can you name a single individual who performed well on the personality test? Can you provide a copy of the test he/she scored well on?

Sir, in fact, in the hundreds of test you have administered, you have never passed anyone on the free personality test, have you??”

  11. I have encountered three people during pickets in San Diego and Los Angeles, who all told me the same story of their experience with the Free Personality Test.

Their test “evaluation” included this warning.
“You will commit suicide in xxx years if you don’t start taking courses now.”

Get that? These fucking disgusting pieces of human refuse are telling gullible, trusting subjects that suicide is in their future without Scientology’s “help.”

Of the three who related this story, two told the Scienos to fuck off. The third one was a Scientologist who was convinced that Scientology “saved her life.”

  13. CORRECTION: Heidi Sørensen is Kaja’s stepmother. Kaja’s birth mother’s name is Tove, and she visited her daughter at Easter.

  15. @ don

Ex-scientologists told me that if your score was outrageously good, they’d simply turn the graph upside down so it looked awful.

Find the personality test person’s “ruin” (i.e. the thing they worry about most) then tell them “Scientology can help you with that”. Then send them to the “reg” who will sell them a course…

Why would any sane person click on the link to the test ? Especially since the test is free, but you have to collect the result from the “Church” - where the hard sell happens…

Love, call your mum if you’ve disconnected from her… that goes for everyone!

    xx

  19. I don’t get it. Why don’t some of the victims of this evil cult get together for a CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT? If Fascism was defeated in the 20th Century, surely it can be defeated again in the 21st Century…

  27. The $cientolgy Tests are bogus. They always tell you that you’re badly flawed and that only $cientology can save you.

It is a hook, and the CULT doesn’t care about your well-being. They’ll say anything to get at your money.

  29. I believe that austrian ex scientologist Gerhard Foerster describes a similar situation in his comic strip story about his life in scientology. Sadly I can’t find the booklets, I probably misplaced them.

Its quite common for OCA goons to tell potential clients that they are at risk of suicide - which is why many scientologists proudly claim “without scientology, I’d be dead”.
