The main problem here is that the people who decided to shoot off at you are most likely the original Anonymous, the previously mentioned “oldfags”. These are the Anonymous that went after Alex Wuori, the ones that took down multiple people for their own enjoyment. That’s not us, obviously. As to the icanhascheezburger point, yeah, I can personally see it as annoying. I can also see how other people would want to keep it away from infecting their personal social mores, though not to the point of harassment and being belligerent towards you. Those anons can gb2gaia and have fin buying new clothes and looking soooooooo kawaii lol ^_^. You just have to keep on doing what you’ve been doing from the beginning of this, keep looking to the truth of the matter and reporting what you see as the truth, until you no longer want to keep up with it.

As to my personal opinion of what has been going on, the people that originally posted… are correct. /b/ and /i/ don’t care who you are or what you do, and that isn’t just my opinion. I’ve seen them go after people for less crap, and even though you do have the right to post Catnarok up there, I agree that you should play it safe and not have to worry about anyone going nuts. I appreciate what you’ve been doing with your coverage of Anonymous vs. The Co$, but like I said, I want you to be safe.

My final point is, Dawn, we really do appreciate what you’re doing here. You don’t have to cover any of this, and you’re the only one that I’ve seen who has covered the protests consecutively. You take an active role in trying to understand what’s going on and don’t take sides lightly. You’ve been going through your own research on this, something we encourage everybody to do, and I have nothing but respect towards you for that. Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Most of the people who read our site aren’t the 4Chan folks anyway, so why single them out. The post was meant as a way of reaching out to Anonymous in a respectful way which was clearly not thought out. I am not perfect, so there you go.

I would like VERY much to move past this incident. Many people have emailed me and I get it. Most were very nice. I completely overreacted to a handful of people who were outraged.

So, that’s where we are. Any further comments that aren’t related to the video concept are just not helpful.

Re: The ICHC thing, it’s important to understand that not only did they take parts of Anon culture and mis-represent them as their own. They also decided to go, “Oh, hay, let’s not only steal these pics from Anonymous, we’ll also make approx. $6,000 per month in advertising revenue for doing absolutely nothing!” The argument can be made, “Oh, well the author should sue.” But that’s not how we roll. $cientology stalks people, lies, and litigates, not Anonymous. Doesn’t mean they aren’t going to get angry about it though.
