Ewan McGregor And Anderson Cooper Have Skin Cancer Removed

Two big names have had battles with skin cancer lately. Both actor Ewan McGregor and CNN anchor Anderson Cooper have had skin cancer moles removed from their faces, and both men are doing fine now.
For Ewan’s part, his doctor noticed a suspicious-looking mole on his face a year ago and suggested he have it taken off:
The Scottish actor, 37, was promoting his latest film, the sex thriller Deception, when he revealed on the BBC that he was forced to have a suspicious-looking facial mole – one of several – removed from just below his right eye.
“You have to be careful if you’re pale-skinned and spend any time in the sun,” McGregor said. “I went to see a specialist who thought they were better to be removed, and indeed he was correct.”

And Anderson Cooper decided it was better to tell what happened back in March than to let viewers think he was brawling over the election:
On a personal note, I’ve been off for the last couple of days. I had minor surgery on Monday. A small spot of skin cancer was removed from under my left eye. I hadn’t planned on mentioning this, but I still have stitches and you’ll no doubt notice them tonight. Don’t want you to think I got into a fist fight with Charlie Rose.
Plus, it was revealed that just this week E Street Band keyboardist Danny Federici died of melanoma after a three-year battle with the disease.

I cannot stress enough that if you are going to be out in the sun, protect yourself. Use sunscreen, wear a hat, use an umbrella, any combination, but keep yourself protected. That goes double for those of us who are fair-skinned and/or who have a history of melanoma in our families. I personally have a family member who has had skin cancer removed, and so I’ve become much more diligent at keeping sunscreen on and making sure my kids have it on. I applaud these celebrities for putting their personal stories out there; maybe their experiences will help someone else.
Having a tan is nice, but it isn’t worth dying for.

[…] has daddy Hulk do it for her. I take it they didn’t read my post the other day about the dangers of being fair and getting too much sun. Oh yeah, and this is just creepy to look […]
