Jason Beghe’s Letter Requesting His Files Back From The Church of Scientology

Jason “Clear As A *Bleep* Bell” Beghe

Jason Beghe recently left the “Church” of Scientology in a well-publicized move. Now he would like his records back. This was recently posted to xentu.tv.

One week ago, I contacted The President’s Office at The Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International and asked for their help in getting my folders returned to me. The Pres. Off. artfully refused to directly respond to my request. So, I wrote a letter to David Miscavige but, when I tried to route it to him through the proper Church communication system, it was refused.

As the Church of Scientology carefully monitors all anti-scientology websites, I am posting the letter here, on xenu.net, to assure that it be received by the C of S.

A transcript of the meat of the letter is as follows:

Dear Sir,

This letter shall serve as a formal request for the prompt delivery of all my PC, pre-OT and ethics folders to me. I am also demanding any and all videos of sessions (both auditing and ethics) that were recorded of me. As I am no longer a parishioner of The Church of Scientology, no Organization or entity affiliated with the Church has any reason to further maintain them.

Please send to me all the requested folders and videos at the above address as soon as possible. I will be happy to pay for any administrative, shipping or messenger fees that are incurred while facilitating this request. The above contact information is current.

Thank you for your prompt handling of this matter.

Sincerely,

Jason Beghe

So here’s the problem. CoS is notorious for retaining a “parishioner’s” auditing files. What’s an auditing file? It is the information captured while the individual is attempting to “clear” himself. Any number of things may be contained in that file. It would be similar to a therapist’s file created during counseling.

If this were any other relationship in which files are created and personal non-public information is stored, there are a variety of laws that would pertain. For instance, a simple request to surrender would provide the person with copies. An individual is entitled to copies of their medical record because that medical record is about them. But only a copy- the original provider of services would be required to maintain the original. There are laws regarding HOW that original must be maintained and there are laws about who may access it.

The CoS has never, to my knowledge, returned a person’s file to them. But there are information privacy laws in place today that they may not have considered. That being the case, my guess is that Jason Beghe may have grounds for taking the litigious CoS to court.

Considering the database they maintain on virtually everyone who has ever crossed their path, and the fact that it too is covered under various electronic privacy and security laws, this could end up being a very interesting development. If I were Jason, I would include a demand to be expunged from their database and proof of expulsion by electronic audit.

So now this has me wondering how many other personal data laws they’re breaking?

[Above is a Guest Post from Felinanonymous, thank you nice kitty]

  1. Jason is gonna want to get his Ethics File, Student File and any secret OSA files too. He might as well bag his Central Files folder and get copies of his Treasury file (and his wife’s treas file) while he’s at it.

The orgs are notorious filers and pack rats. They even keep the PC folders of dead people so when they “come back” they can continue getting billed at ridiculous rates as a continuation of what they did “last lifetime.”

  3. Just in case anyone reading this hasn’t seen Jason Beghe’s interview on Scientology, you can watch it here:

    It’s well worth the time.

  5. I hope that there is some way that Beghe can legally request these files. Even if the CoS retains originals or copies in its files, it could make for some pretty entertaining Court-TV coverage on the escapades of CoS!

  7. Mr. Jason Beghe can continue to communicate with the Church of Scientology. Certainly he must know this, he must have signed agreements about how he can continue to communicate with the Church. He has, in fact, a specific person within the Church assigned exclusively to communicating with him. Surely he must know that. It is Church Policy and has been Church policy for many years. When a person leaves and denounces the Church, a specific office of the Church is then responsible for further communication to and from that person. But this also means that no other Church office is able to receive communication from Mr. Beghe or pass on communication from Mr. Beghe. And Mr. Beghe certainly must know it. It is likely he has that in writing, it is likely that he signed the document making that communication line clear to Mr. Beghe. Good luck in your pursuit of spiritual freedom, Jason Beghe.

  9. “But this also means that no other Church office is able to receive communication from Mr. Beghe or pass on communication from Mr. Beghe.”

Terryeo, normally I just blast you, or make fun of you, but this is a legitimate question. Why not? If I get an email/letter that should really be directed to someone else at my office, I just forward it on to them. Why can this not be done within Scientology channels? Why can’t Jason’s letter be forwarded on to the correct people if he is directing it to the wrong ones?

  13. When I’m dealing with any organization, for example my church, and do not receive adequate response, I continue up the chain of command, meaning to the bishop, etc., and then if I don’t receive adequate redress, I take it into the secular court.
RTC and Miscavige better take this seriously, because I have a right to any records with my name on them from a doctor’s office, my church, the credit reporting agency, and so on, and have a right to put a note in those files protesting any inaccurage information found therein.
Scientology can have its own internal lines of communication, but those of us not within the CoS don’t have to abide by those lines — the CoS has to direct those communications to the appropriate person or post. Bureaucracy is not a protection from legal action.

  15. God am I glad I’m leaving Scientology! I personally have seen things happen far worse than what Jason Beghe relates. What goes on in the Sea Org controled prison camps is enough to make one run screaming. Being in OSA does offer me one thing though, I am able to access the internet without superiors loooking over my shoulder and without the internet I would have had no idea what the extent was of the criminality of my religion.

  27. Scientology sounds like a bad trip. Amazing what bored rich people will do to relieve the fact that they are boring fuckers with nothing better to do.

All that money wasted on getting brain washed, he would of felt 100 times better just going out and giving the money to people who need food or clothing.

Any way, really happy Jason Beghe as come out and done this… Scientology needs stopping ASAP.
