Nicole Kidman Wants Her Teenage Kids OUT Of Scientology - Cruise De Facto Head Of Scientology

The Globe Magazine is featuring a cover story by none other than NYT best-selling author and filmmaker “His Highness Ian Halperin,” about actress Nicole Kidman, her two teenage children Isabella and Connor, whom she adopted while married to actor Tom Cruise.

Perhaps this is why Halperin became mum on the subject of Nicole during my visit to NY to see his film premiere, “His Highness Hollywood.”

Andrew Morton, Ian and I were discussing their two books, comparing similarities on the subject of Scientology, when we brought up Nicole Kidman, Ian suddenly excused himself and disappeared. Apparently he was holding out on us. I clearly need to work on my super-sleuth skillz.

In any case, the Globe’s article reveals Ian met Nicole while working undercover and the two became close enough for her to confide in him her concerns about her ex’s involvement in Scientology and most especially, the decision for their two children to be raised as Scientologists, rather than as Catholics, which both Nicole and Tom were before joining Scientology.

Here’s some details from the Globe story:

*She would have left Cruise prior to their 2001 split, but was afraid of what the Church might reveal during “intimate auditing sessions.”
*Cruise demands all his significant others devote themselves completely to Scientology
*She wants Isabella and Connor to explore other faiths.

Ian was quoted as saying this about Tom and Nicole’s differing thoughts about the kids and Scientology:

“Nicole wants her kids freed from Scientology. She definitely wants them out of the church. She had a lot of problems about bringing them up as Scientologists, but Tom insisted on it. That was a big issue in their split.”

Ian also suggests Nicole, who is expecting a child with her husband country star Keith Urban, is planning to move to Los Angeles to be closer to her two older children and mainly as an effort to help extract them from the secretive, insular church.

“She was tired of Tinseltown and wanted to raise the kids in a farm-like setting, but Cruise was attached to Scientology and to L.A.” Ian said Nicole and Keith’s current plans to relocate to LA are part of an overall effort to “be closer to her kids.”

According to Ian, Nicole also expressed concern for Tom’s increased visibility and power within the Church of Scientology, where essentially officials in the Church have stated Tom is just a regular parishioner with no more control or importance than any other member. Andrew Morton’s book claims differently, and asserted Tom was in fact, the Number 2 guy behind CoS president David Miscavige.

“Nicole is concerned with how powerful Tom has become in the church. This guy has no religious background, or accreditation to lead a religious institution, but they rely a lot on what he says. He’s the de facto head of the church - that’s what Nicole said. The Church’s primary goal is to make as much money as possible and take over the world.”

Nicole’s fight for Isabella and Connor won’t be easy, Scientology does not take kindly to outsiders interfering in the family affairs of members of the Church, especially someone as important as Tom Cruise. If Nicole pushes too hard, she may find herself declared a Suppressive Person, or SP, in which case both Isabella and Connor will be forced, as Scientologists, to serve her with a disconnection letter and Nicole may find herself completely cut off from her two children.

  1. I have a new found respect for Nicole. I never was a big fan of hers but no mother (biological or adoptive or whatever) who honestly cares for their children and does what is best for them, deserves to be cut off like that. I hope she gets them out.

If they were smart (ha!….cue the footbullets), they would let those kids go instead of create a media firestorm.
    Stay tuned.

  5. This is just another big lie invented by some sick-minded person. Tom Cruise is just a parishioner and Scientologists respect any individual’s right to choose his religion and everything else in his life. It’s part of the code of a Scientologist as I have just read. I am sure Tom’s children are Scientologists because they want to. And I am sure Nicole is a respectful person too and she respects his children and their choices, as we all should. The world will be a better place when “some people” stop inventing lies to hurt others and to create hate. This article only shows how disrespectful, sick and evil “some people” are. And we know who they are, dont we?…

  7. Dear Nicole and Keith:
Do what you can to help Connor and Bella. If the “church” does declare you an SP please let the world know. There is strength in numbers and we’ve got your back! The tide is finally turning and the world is now understanding what the distructive “Church” of Scientology is really all about.
You’ve probably had to wait a long time for this but take comfort in knowing that their demise is coming. So much has happened already and it won’t be too much longer now.
I’m a regular mom and us regular folk didn’t buy into the Tom and Oprah show farce. He didn’t fool us - not for a minute. Shame on both of them. Boy, is Oprah going to have some explaining to do in the near future!
Many blessings to you both, the new baby, Connor and Bella.
I admire your work very much and look forward to more great work in the future. It must have been hard for Tom to be married to a woman who could act circles around him without even trying - yes, we always knew this to be true too.

  9. As Jason Beghe said, they really can’t use the stuff they got in auditing because that would expose the fact that they blackmail. And the more well known you are the less likely they can come after you without a big backlash. Their arsenal consists of footbullets.
    Go for it Nicole.

  11. I dunno if the cult would want the kids to disconnect from Kidman. It would pretty well be the most public way possible of confirming allegations that the cult breaks up families wherein certain members are against CoS. And Kidman would have every opportunity to give her side of the story to major media.

As for the ludicrous proposition that the kids are $cientologists because they want to be: those kids were never given a choice. They’re prisoners of the cult. I hope Nicole is successful in getting them out and I’m happy to see another story exposing $cientology’s lies.

  17. Nicole Kidman has had 7 years to get these kids out. But she hasn’t. Instead she’s been going from one movie set to another all over the world. She sold her house in LA back in 2004. She’s chosen not to have a house there for 4 years. There was a radio interview with Keith Urban last week and the LA house thing was brought up and he said there is NO house. If she wanted those kids that badly, she could easily get her lawyers on it and enforce the so-called joint custody issue. What is she so afraid of? What do they have on her that she is afraid will be exposed? And I do think they have something on her. I despise Tom Cruise, but I won’t give Nicole Kidman a get out of jail free card either.

You have to be kidding, right? These are “lies” made up by “sick people”, are they?:

    Operation Freakout
    Operation Snow White
Lisa McPherson’s death and subsequent coverup.
    Shawn Lonsdale’s death.
    Disconnection.
    Fair Game.
    Should I continue?

You’re obviously a scientologist, that’s clear in the tone of your post. I suggest you not accuse everyone of lies and slander just because what they’re saying is potentially damaging to your cult. Whether you like it or not doesn’t detract from the truthfulness of the statements. So stop deluding yourself and realize that scientology is getting increasinly negative public scruitiny, they’re giving themselves an increasing number of footbullets, and they’re scared. That’s right, they are in panic mode.

If they were really so untouchable, if they were really the truth behind the mystery, they would be firm in their convictions, instead of firing off lawsuits left-right-and-centre and engaging in black PR campaigns. They would be more interested in their beliefs than they would be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars they get, as a BUSINESS (not a religion, sorry. I don’t have to spend $350K if I wanted to join a real religion) from all their devout (and airheaded, I might add) followers.

So ignore the truth and accuse us all of lying. When your judgement day comes I’m sure it’ll be of comfort to you that you lied to the very end.

  27. Did Nicole Kidman just figure out that her kids are in Scientology? Seems she should have done a lot more about this a long time ago. So why didn’t Nicole want to live in L.A. and be near her children before 2008?

If they are so important to her why didn’t she keep a house in L.A. after the divorce and live there instead of living in New York and Australia and now Nashville? And why did she make about three movies a year instead of making sure she spends time in L.A. so her children could spend more time with her?

I don’t like Tom Cruise, but you make it seem as if Nicole has been some long-suffering saint, and I don’t think that is the true story. She doesn’t seem to have much interest in her kids.

Didn’t that actor that just spoke out against Scientology, and some other guy that was a filmaker in Scientology say Tom Cruise was pretty much out of Scientology most of the time he was with Nicole, and went back in when he found out she was pregnant and believed it was a baby from an affair she was having?

Also didn’t Andrew Morton say Nicole wasn’t all that close with the kids when she was married to Tom? She even went away for a month leaving her kids, to “prepare emotionally” for a movie role? She strikes me as a very self-absorbed woman, and she has put herself and her secrets before saving those kids from Scientology.

And this Ian guy seems like he’s more concerned with hyping Ian than anything else.

  29. To more, between 2001 and mid-2005, the children were living in New York with their mother and yes, she was working while she had the children with her. Infact, between 2003 and 2005 when she worked a lot (making 2 films a year for no more than 6 months each year), she worked primarily in New York and made only one movie, Bewitched, outside of it and that one was made in LA and by the time she worked in late 2005, the children finally moved to LA. Before then, she didn’t have to move to LA for them because they were with her. It was only in late 2005 that the children moved to LA to be with their father and Kidman moved to Nashville to start a life with her now husband. And it has been since then that their lives have been entrenched in scientology, it wasn’t before because he had no chance to have them go into it as he has done, now. People seemed to believe that Cruise has had the children since the divorce, that is very wrong. BTW, she sold the LA house in very early 2003, that was when she and the kids moved to NY.

Morton, claiming that he could only find one picture of NK and the kids since the divorce was also quite amusing. I can post as many pics of her and those kids prior to 2005. Her co-stars have more than enough stories about her kids being on set and just being kids, teasing Frank Oz, playing with Will Ferrell’s baby just after the baby was born, Kathy Baker talking about how sweet a mother she was when she and the kids were in Romania, having sleepovers with Cameron Bright. Through this time, even when homeschooled, she enrolled them in more than sports activities. Bella, even as young as she was then was doing her own bit of charity. She was the one who was there for their sports days without the throng of paparazzi chronicling everything. They went to Oz, saw their friends and had a normal life.

Who did Morton speak to in order to come to this conclusion that she NEVER saw the children? Did he just read the recent tabloids or did he actually speak to someone?

Kidman should not move to LA, the children should go to Nashville to go be with their mother and stepfather. THEY have to get out of LA and go have some semblance of normalcy.

So, “more” before you go on about Kidman simply working and working, that is not always the whole story. It isn’t as if she slept on the movie set and never went home. The children were schooled or were involved in children’s activities when she was at work and at home when she was home. She never abandoned them to a family member for months because she was working like Cruise did in 2007 when he went to Germany to film Valkyrie and handed them over to his sister while him, Holmes and Suri travelled across Europe.

He has had them with him for less than 3 years and all of a sudden, their mother who was there in the aftermath of the divorce has been relegated to the role of “bad” mother. Boy, he sure worked his magic right, didn’t he? No wonder he didn’t sue Morton.

  31. michelle, Morton didn’t seem to have his act together in regards to Kidman and the children. For a mother whom he deemed not to have any kind of closeness to the children, it is amazing the number of examples he came up with to show the opposite. She didn’t care about them but according to him, she worked to get them out of scientology even at that young age, she enrolled them in school when in Oz and went to seek advice on how to get them out and yet, for some reason, she is the cold, frigid, neurotic mother and thank God for a father who called the nanny every minute to check that the kids had no boo boo. This is the same father who couldn’t move his arse to go celebrate his son’s first birthday, telling his wife to just buy him cake and he won’t be the wiser.

  33. OK, so please explain why she let them go live with Tom in 2005 if they were living with her before then? Didn’t she know that if they lived with him most of the time they would become more involved with Scientology? So she let them go and get into Scientology in 2005 when she started dating Keith Urban? Why would she let them go live with Tom full-time instead of keeping them with her if they had lived with her most of the time since the divorce? There sure are many different versions of the Nicole story, even different versions from so-called in-the-know ex-Scientologists.

They have anyway since long disclosed your past whereabouts inside, so, these are anyway open secrets; but they would be soooooo badly judged if they spoke publicly of what they found in your scientology files that there is no problem or risk for you there.
Anyway, the things one has done, one has done, can’t be erased, and the cult knows it can’t be erased, otherwise it would never never use any old past thing to attack somone who has been “confessed” and “forgiven” by their cult!

  37. Anon, is right michelle. Those kids were primarily with Kidman even when she was working from 2001 up until April 2005. Funnily, April 2005 was the time TC met Katie Holmes. It was also the time when the kids were reaching the age where they perhaps didn’t want to travel as much. Nicole has said many times that LA is a big draw for the teenagers and perhaps it was them that kicked up the fuss about staying in LA. Hey, if Katie Holmes can be made to drop everything for Scientology and TC, what’s to say the same didn’t happen to the kids. It was also the time when Nicole met Keith Urban. Now with all the drug and alcohol issues surrounding Keith at the time, I’m sure it enabled TC to play his trump card and insist that the kids remain with him so as not to be exposed to Keith too much until Keith could prove his sobriety. This is where I think Nicole slipped, because in that time TC was able to build his perfect family with Katie Holmes, entrenching them all into Scientology with brainwashing.

The fact that Keith fell off the wagon last year and had to spend 3 months in rehab didn’t help Nicole either and probably delayed her plans to get her kids out of Scientology. Funny too, that before Keith entered rehab, he was seen drinking in a Nashville bar with Beck, a known Scientologist! However, don’t underestimate the power of Nicole Kidman. She now has a home in Nashville and is looking in LA according to her spokesperson and Keith Urban is looking 100 times more saner than Tom. She also has a baby on the way, another sibling for her kids. Definitely in a better position than 2 or 3 years ago.

    and anyone else pro scientologist…

Lewls@you for being narrow minded and unable to do research and being able to look at all the facts.

To say that people have a choice to do what they please, is a good point to make for anything.
But when your choice is purposly munipulated as soon as you start thinking of the choice you should make, then it is no longer your choice.

YOU scientologists TRY to get people to join your ”religion” to ‘help’ them.
But you can not do it by FORCING them to join, thinking your doing it for their own good.
YOU HAVE TO SIT BACK AND LET THEM CHOICE ON THERE OWN.

  43. Keith Urban went into rehab Oct. 2006, so I still don’t understand why Nicole would allow her kids to go live with Tom in 2005 when she knew they would become heavily entrenched in Scientology if they lived with him, since according to one of the ex-Sci people Tom wasn’t even in Scientology much while he was with Nicole but really got into it once he and Nicole split up.

I still say there seem to be many versions of the poor Nicole story, as if she couldn’t keep her kids out of Scientology, and now some of you are saying the kids were basically out because they lived with her this whole time until 2005. But after having them out of the clutches of Scientology, Nicole would just give into her kids just because they put up a fuss to live in L.A., and give them over to Tom to live with him, or put them at risk of ending up living with Tom by getting involved with a former crack addict who had already been to rehab a couple of times prior?

I wouldn’t have put a man or a career that forces me to move around a lot ahead of my kids(especially when she didn’t even need to work like most women do). I would do all I could to keep them out of Scientology if I had already kept them out for four years after the divorce. Doesn’t make sense.

Why didn’t she just move to L.A. herself and stay put there, so they could still live with her and visit with their dad more? Why wouldn’t she put the well-being of her kids before her desire to make more movies, if the problem was they were tired of moving around? It just seems many of you are siding with her because you despise Tom so much, but it sounds to me like she had her kids out of Scientology and just let this happen instead of putting the mental and spiritual well-being and safety of her kids before her career or Keith Urban.

I don’t see her as some saint against Scientology the way some of you seem to. She just seems like she’s more interested in what she wants than what is best for her kids. We’ll see if she really moves to L.A. to be closer to her kids. She chose to spend most of 2007 in Australia making a movie, if I felt my kids were in danger in a cult I would be in whatever city they are living in even if I didn’t have physical custody just to make sure they know I’m there wanting to be with them as much as possible.

  45. There are many things we DON’T know about their pre-nup agreement, not to mention the fact that just because Nicole was distanced from her kids for a while and is now becoming far more concerned about having them closer I feel is a direct bearing of two things, a.) she’s pregnant and her maternal instincts are kicking into overdrive, this is NOT something she’s been able to really explore because her first two pregnancies with Tom ended in a miscarriage, and this was very traumatic for them both.

b.) As teenagers grow within Scientology this is the time they are approached about joining the Sea Org. Once they are indoctrinated in the Sea Org, the hope of recovering them undamaged grows slim. It’s also quite obvious that Scientology is going down and clearly Nicole is aware of what’s going on in the outside world, Tom not so much.

Nicole has many things going on emotionally right now, good on her for doing whatever she can to get her kids out safely.

Also, don’t slander Ian Halperin or I will delete your ass. The guy has been the subject of continual harassment most likely by the CoS including some death threats recently. I think he’s brave for standing up to these crazy bastards. Shame on you for stating otherwise.

I am disgusted at how quick people are to defend CoS after they’ve killed, silences and sued their critics into oblivion. 57. Oh, so if I am skeptical of Nicole’s intentions and wondering if she really cares about those kids, or if I wonder if this Ian guy isn’t more interested in getting publicity by talking about what Nicole is supposedly going to do, you think I am defending Scientology?

I have watched videos from some of the ex-Scientologists and I believe what they are saying, but that doesn’t automatically make me think things said by people like Ian or Nicole are true, and I still don’t understand why Nicole would let anything in her life come before making sure her kids keep living with her if she already had them out of Tom’s house and away from a heavy Scientology influence from 2001 to 2005, or at the very least, live in the same city when they did go live with Tom in L.A. Whatever, don’t worry about “deleting my ass”, I won’t be back.

I guess you have to tow the line on this site that “His Highness”(Is that for real? Yeah, that lends credibility)Ian and Nicole have innocent and unselfish motives and their actions cannot be questioned.

Like I said, we will see if Nicole buys a house in L.A. and actually lives there. Seems odd that she would have to wait until she is pregnant for her maternal intincts to kick into overdrive, being that she has already had two children all of these years. Luckily for most adopted kids their mothers’ maternal instincts kick into overdrive when they adopt their kids, they don’t have to wait until their mother gives birth to a child, thank God.

  59. These comments have got to be some of the most messed up I have ever read. By the time I got to the end I decided the article as well as the comments were nothing but gossip based on very little truth. Also, IMHO their family matters are nobody’s business and from what I have read don’t see that either Tom or Nicole have been neglectful with their adopted children.

Though it may be untrue, I have heard that both Nicole and Tom had both completed OTIII and then both became inactive for a few years after they split with Tom continuing on some time before he got together with Katie. As far as I know Nicole never became declared SP by the CoS and as I understand one has to do more than become inactive to become declared SP, which BTW apparently would have become a huge problem regarding the kids. According to some people, saying something like “I want to get my kids out of Scientology” could have gotten her declared suppressive and whether this would do it or not, I strongly doubt she actually said it simply because she would have known this could have made it very difficult for her to get the kids out. I also have a problem with the accusation of the Church blackmailing people to stay in the church. I for one would have told them to go right ahead no matter what crimes I had committed or how famous I was, because their doing so would damage the CoS far more than it would me.

And as far as the knowledge gained in auditing, Co$ wouldn’t have to be the entity spreading the news, they could get leak it anonymously to any number of press groups.

If you talk about red balls a lot, it’s going to draw red balls to the top. If you talk about Scientology a lot, it’s going to draw Scientology to the top. If you talk about waterfront property, it’s going to draw waterfront property to the top. That’s how it works, and nobody is allowed to be choosy with it.

  69. #34 is right. There are some ads that AdSense puts on here that I personally would ban, but you can’t. If you mention a keyword, it bases ads according to that keyword. There’s not a lot we can do about it, other than submit a form to AdSense requesting certain things not show up, but even that is a crapshoot…it’s up to them, not us.

The other day, I did one article on Roger Clemens (I’ve since done another one). Based on that one article there were baseball ads on here. I’ve mentioned church, and get Protestant church related stuff. For a while there, all we had were Britney Spears ads.

And from what I understand, you don’t get anything unless people actually click the ads. I would say most of the people who come here are too smart about the CoS to actually click one.

  71. That’s what I was thinking Joanie. A- Timing on a lot of points could have been germane to expressing her wishes. B- Too true, they can pay any idiot to leak a secret to the tabloids about her, and no one would know where it came from. Lots of us would guess, but overall it would be typical tabloid info of unknown origin that could hurt her feelings or her family’s.

  73. During the Oprah interview, she asked Cruise something about him keeping the kids away from Kidman but the whole subject wasn’t elaborated on too much. I kind of missed part of it and went to her website to read the slideshow/transcript to see what I missed and there is nothing about it in the slideshow/transcript. Very strange….

  75. Have you submitted the form?

The other option you have is don’t use Adsense.
