Heather Mills Walks Out On Promise To Russian Double Amputee
Just when I think Heather Mills can’t get any worse, she gets worse. Despite her claims to have done “nothing but chahhty wahk for thuhty yeahhs”, it is now emerging that one thing she did do was promise a young mom a new set of legs, only for the Russian woman to find out that Heather’s word is as good as her left leg:

But now we can reveal that pledge was a sham… and callous Lady Mucca has given nothing to desperate Maria Rybkina.
Mucca, who has an artificial leg herself, tenderly told the star-struck 28-year-old: “I will help buy you legs like mine. I will help you walk again.”
But once she had basked in the glow of the photo opportunity, she IGNORED pleas about the increasingly pitiful plight of Maria—who was being forced to BEG on the streets of Moscow.
It all started when a couple named Robin and Inna Barratt met Maria, who was pulling herself around Moscow on an old skateboard. Maria had lost her legs at the age of five and as a teenager was kidnapped and raped by gypsies. She managed to escape, but with a young son to support she turned to the only thing she could do…beg strangers for money. The couple called Heather’s charity, and received a call back from Heather herself:
Robin recalled: “She said brightly, ‘Hello, this is Heather Mills-McCartney’. We spoke for a long time.
“Heather said she would personally get Maria some really good artificial legs, which would cost around £5,000, and cosmesis—the silicone cosmetic covering—which would be another £5,000.
“She promised she would also provide all the medical support needed to get her walking again. She told us that because her charity only helped victims of landmines, she would support Maria from her own personal finances.”
Heather even met the young mother on a visit to Russia in 2004, when her then-husband Sir Paul was playing a concert in St. Petersburg:
Afterwards Mucca sent Robin an email saying: “I will pay for Maria’s costs agreed in advance and paid directly to the clinic. Please email me the price.” In another she said: “Email me costs individually and I’ll get money to you.”
But NO MONEY appeared and the Barratts have had not heard from her for two years. Instead they have raised £5,000 through local donations, including £2,000 of their own money, and by holding car boot sales.
They also persuaded a Russian company to provide free artificial legs for Maria—which have now been fitted. “Seeing her stand on her new legs for the first time was amazing and brought everyone, including the medical staff, to tears,” said Robin.
And now that Maria has new legs, she has managed to turn from begging to dancing:
“Today Maria is no longer begging on the streets. She has a flat, drives and works part time as a nanny—and has learned to dance. Our legs have transformed her life.”
The Barratts are still raising funds for Maria—who will need further help in the future—but will not be turning to Mucca.
Robin said: “At first we thought she was a really sincere person. But all her big promises came to nothing. It was shocking behaviour.”
At this point, it does need to be said that Heather did promise to help the woman out of her “personal finances”, and I’m sure Heather would say that since she is now forced to live on a pittance she doesn’t have money to help out this poor woman. However, let me remind you that Heather (despite all her protests to the contrary…and they have been legion) is not headed to the poorhouse, and also that her claims of giving away 80-90% of her income to charity is untrue.
In the divorce, Heather was granted $97,000 to donate to whatever charity or charities she sees fit. She claimed to need upwards of twelve times that amount but the judge found that she was full of organically grown beans. This young woman needed almost $20,000 for her new legs and the silicone covering, well within Heather’s budget of the past four years.
Of course, this was in 2004, but Heather’s charity work hasn’t changed much, and at the time she was married to Sir Paul. This woman could have easily followed up on her promise, but didn’t. Thanks to the more than generous divorce papers she has more money than she’ll ever be able to spend, yet cannot follow through on a promise to a fellow amputee who didn’t have the good fortune to be put in the club by a former Beatle and thus securing her financial security for all time.
If she didn’t want to help this woman, then she should not have promised she would. If something with finances fell through, then she should have had the guts to call and say so. If Heather somehow couldn’t come up with the money herself, I’m sure she has lots of famous friends whom she could have called upon to donate. I have a feeling, however, that it wasn’t a lack of finances but rather a lack of common human decency that caused Heather to renege on her promise. Maybe Maria didn’t cause the proper sort of photo-op, or perhaps she felt that the money for Maria’s legs was better served going towards gas for the Mercedes SUV Heather is driven around in.
You watch…Heather will try to spin this into yet another attack on Sir Paul, saying if he wasn’t such a miserly skinflint that she’d have money to do chahhty wahk.

I feel really bad for this young lady and feel horrified that this witch could do something like that to a person who did nothing buy pose for the cameras.I heard a rumor that Mills is slated to come to the US to live just because the UK press treats her so bad…
And she wonders why with this kind of crap.

This is disgusting and cruel behavior. She won’t be in the US for long, so she’d better only rent and not buy. The tabs and paps here will draw out and expose her phoniness. Maybe if they dog her enough, she’ll have an epiphany and change her ways and become a decent human being. I really think that she has mental problems.

I am pretty sure that if that biz-natch comes to the US to live, she’ll be heading back to London very quickly. If she thinks the press in the UK is brutal, she’ll be appalled when she gets here. And from the reputation she has made for herself, it will be well deserved.

I have no doubt in my mind that she has mental problems. I’ve done a few posts where I’ve brought it up: here, here, here, here, here.
This is all over the celeb blogs and tabloid news. There is no way she’s going to be able to weasel out of this one…but you watch, she will try to pin it on Paul. She’ll say if he were not so stingy that she’d have money to do these things. Somehow, some way, she’ll attempt to divert any blame from herself.
Y’all are right. If she thinks coming to the USA will solve her problems and we’re going to welcome her with open arms, she’s got another think coming.

I feel bad that Paul fell for her in the first place.
I don’t understand how you could make a promise like that and not keep it. I’m sure she’ll try to put the blame elsewhere (probably Paul)

You who all want to slander Heather Mills are so blind. Why don’t you read both sides, ie ALL the stories before you make your judgements? I have read articles that explain what a bastard Paul McCarthy and his kids were towards Heather for no reason, and frankly she is being judged harshly because she wasn’t a doormat (didn’t just lay down and die). Instead of giving Heather flack for standing up for herself after all the mental abuse she had to endure, we should all admire and support her for her courage to not take shit. Anyone who wants to use her leg to insult her is lower than low. If a man stands up for himself, he’s a hero, but why when a woman stands up for herself she’s treated like rubbish? Only thing don’t agree with is the porn, however what I can say is that we all have some skeleton in our closet, and besides the fact that she probably regrets it, she can’t undo it, so why should we judge her forever, after all, the porn did not make up the whole of Heather Mills, it only formed a small part of her ages ago, which she surely regrets. Other celebs have done far worse things and we let them off the hook immediately (Hugh Grant comes to mind).
