Hulk Hogan, Son Nick Hogan Say John Graziano Was “A Negative Person” And He Somehow Ticked Off God
In my last post on Nick Bollea Hogan Whatever, a reader named “squishers” left a comment talking about the latest recording of Nick and his father to hit the internets, and that got me wondering just what was on it. I went over to TMZ and took a listen, and let me tell you…I am more than outraged, I am literally sickened by the audacity and arrogance and irresponsibility and self-centeredness of these two.
Here is the transcript of that call:
TERRY (Hulk Hogan): Well, I don’t know what type of person John was or what he did to get himself in a situation…I know he was pretty aggressive and he used to yell at people and he used to do stuff, and…but some, some, for some reason, man, God laid some heavy sh*t on that kid, man. I don’t know what he was into, I…
NICK: John was a negative person.
TERRY: He was what?
NICK: He was a negative person.
Here, there is a break in the recording, and then you hear them pick up a conversation about what I assume is a new reality show featuring Nick and his life after jail time:
NICK: Will you work on that real-ality [?] deal… [he pronounces it “real allity”]
TERRY: Yeah.
NICK: …for me and get that thing lined up, so the minute I walk out of wherever I walk out of, it’s there, boom?
TERRY: Can you do it while you’re on probation?
NICK: Yeah, of course.
TERRY: Yeah. Okay…you wanna do it with Pink Snickers [?] or you wanna do it with someone else?
NICK: I wanna do it where I’ll make the most money.
TERRY: Well then, you need to do it with me, Jason, and Eric.
NICK: Okay.
TERRY: You know if I’m producing the show I won’t screw you, you know that.
NICK: Yeah. Of course.
TERRY: I’ll getcha every–I’ll make you an owner.
NICK: Yeah. I…
TERRY: You’ll own the show.
NICK: Yeah.
TERRY: Y’know. So let me get to work on that with Eric tonight, he’s here too.
NICK: Okay, cool.
TERRY: So dude, we can get that pulled off, dude…
NICK: Real-ality.
TERRY: The new Nick, we’ll call it “The New Nick” or something.
NICK: The New Nick.
TERRY: Or something. We’ll have to come up with a good name. Think of a good name.
NICK: I’ll be thinking of a good name.
TERRY: The, the…
NICK: It’ll be real-ality, how I’m getting back on my feet, and, uh, how I’m recovering after this, celebrity outta jail.
Let’s revisit some of the things the Hogan family have said in the past, shall we? Then we can compare and contrast what they said in public, versus what they said in private.
Here is what has been said about John Graziano by the Hulkster:
[Hulk] Hogan said John was practically a member of the family, celebrating birthdays and going on vacation with the Bolleas. John was 17 when he met Nick Bollea and the two became fast friends. John went on to join the Marines and serve in Iraq. He had only recently returned home.
By BFF Nick:
During the hearing, Bollea apologized to Graziano’s family and told them he missed John, whom he regarded as his best friend and older brother.
“No matter what has been said, every day I think about John,” said Bollea. “There will never be a day I forget about this.”
And again by Nick:
Bollea apologized for the accident, saying he prayed for Graziano every day. “I love John to death,” he said. “He is like my older brother and my best friend.”
And here is what Hulk Hogan said about the “reality” of reality television:
“I was offered lots of [reality] shows when I was making my career comeback against The Rock, but I kept saying no. But years later, it was my daughter’s career and son’s racing career that we were thinking about.
“We saw the Ashlee Simpson show and Jessica Simpson’s and Lindsay Lohan on the big screen and we just didn’t haven’t a vehicle to compete,” he said. “But I considered it, because this time it was about the Hogan family rather than Hulk Hogan; they all wanted to do it and I tried to warn them about what they were in for. Now look what happened.”
Plus Hulk said this, again about “reality” television:
He said the public misunderstands his son because his personality is not what was portrayed on the family’s reality television show, which Hogan said was scripted. Hogan said his son would be sitting at his computer and show producers would ask him to throw water balloons. “Nick is a good person,” Hogan said. “He’s kind. He’s gentle. He’s compassionate.”
So let’s review. Terry and Nick believe that John Graziano was a negative person who did some bad things, and for whatever reason they have decided God punished John for those things. They’re also putting together some sort of reality thing for Nick after he’s sprung from the pokey, apparently to try and repair his image. Hulk and Nick believe God caused the accident involving both Nick and John because John was a bad person and somehow had to be punished for those past actions, and Nick was just an innocent tool in the process.

Let me say this…I firmly believe that what happened to John had nothing to do with God. My Pastor says that often God gets blamed for things He had nothing to do with, because there are certain things that happen because of our own bad decisions. And yes…John did make a very bad decision when he decided to get into that car with a teenage boy who had been engaging in underage drinking that day and who had a reputation for street racing. I’m not here to say that John is some sort of blameless angel who was somehow strongarmed into the car against his will.
But for Terry and Nick to say that John somehow brought this on himself because of his past actions or lifestyle is beyond reprehensible and it shows a complete and utter disregard for the seriousness of the accident and the responsibility both Nick and his so-called ”father” need to shoulder in it. They aren’t worried about John or about helping him…they are worried about their reputation and about covering their own butts.
Plus, if Terry and Nick are putting together some sort of reality show…well, what makes them think we will believe anything that is in it? After all, by Terry’s own admission, reality shows are not real, but scripted and contrived. So why should we believe that anything these two could put together would be “real”? Because they say so? Forgive me for doubting anything that comes out of their mouths.

I wanted so badly to believe that Nick would use this time in jail to grow up, to learn what it really is to take responsibility, to think about what he did and take steps to not let something like this happen again. But I now seriously have my doubts. If Nick had shown true remorse in these calls, I would be the first one in his corner saying we need to give him a chance to redeem himself. But he hasn’t shown that he is interested in anything but himself.
You know what, Nick? You will, at some point, walk out of jail. You will, at some point, get back on your feet. You will, at some point, recover. But at no point will John Graziano, former Marine, professed best friend, ever recover. He will never get back on his feet. He will remain imprisoned forever in the jail of his own body. A jail YOU put him in by YOUR irresponsible actions.
Maybe you should think about that while you sit in jail with “nothing to think about.”
I am your anonymous, Hogans. I do not forget.

I am horrified to hear such a thing; more so from two men who claim Terry was like family. This shows their lack of compassion, really, so kudos to you Dawn for reporting this.

um, no.
john brought this upon himself by NOT WEARING A SEATBELT. nick was, and he’s just fine. racing is an incredibly stupid, dangerous idea, but NOT WEARING A SEATBELT is asking to be killed in a car accident.
sorry, the bolleas might be scummy trash, but when you DON’T WEAR A SEATBELT when in a SPEEDING SUPRA driven by a SIXTEEN YEAR OLD….it’s your fucking fault. period.
easy with the vendetta… what a waste of your time and energy.

and to the above poster, that entry was quite obviously not written by dawn.
Comment by lmfao — May 24, 2008 @ 7:07 am
um, NO right back atcha, #2.
John didn’t wear a seatbelt, but that’s not what caused the accident. Nick’s racing against another car while under the influence of alcohol (that Hulk Hogan had supplied him with despite his being underage) is what caused the accident.
Even if John had his seatbelt on, while his physical health would have likely faired better, the accident would still have occurred and a crime would still have been committed by Nick Bollea who was not only racing but driving drunk at the time.
Besides, even Hulk Hogan doesn’t agree with your seatbelt argument. Because according to him, no one is directly responsible for their actions at all. Seatbelt, shmeatbelt. He thinks that John suffered so badly in the accident simply because God was angry at him for something. And it is precisely this no DIRECT personal responsibility approach to life which caused Hulk’s son to grow up to be the douchebag that he has proven himself to be.
And yet, quite frankly, in light of Nick’s seeking to make money off of his crime as well as their trying to blame EVERYTHING on the victim, I don’t see how anyone can defend Nick or Hulk in this context. Seatbelt or no seatbelt, the Hogans have proven to be liars who will say anything to save their own you-know-whats and who really don’t care about anyone but themselves. If they can’t get out of it, they’ll try to make money off of it. That’s despicable no matter which way you look at it.

again, scummy trash. but nick WALKED AWAY from that accident. clearly, wearing a seatbelt influenced the outcome in his case.
something not mentioned here is that the graziano family is planning on SUING the hogans for this. seriously. because their adult son was too stupid to a) buckle up or b) tell his young companion that what he was doing was dangerous. hogan clearly has little remorse for this, but then, celebrity children arent known for being the most compassionate bunch…what did you expect?
he is SERVING TIME in jail for his crime. he is a minor. john graziano should have KNOWN BETTER.

STFU, Brooke. SHUT THE FUCK UP!
You are a disgusting excuse for a human being.
I will personally pay for you to be sterilized so that we are not subjected to any more idiot Boleas in the future. PLEASE say yes.

lol, the idea that brooke hogan would spend time writing comments on a gossip blog, much less be able to put two or three sentences together coherently is laughable. almost as laughable as a 22 year old that doesnt know how to put on a seatbelt.
Comment by lmfao — May 24, 2008 @ 2:41 pm
Yes, there is more than one writer here.
I have mentioned before that John was irresponsible for not wearing his seat belt the day of the accident. Not sure how many times I have to say it before people notice I said it, but oh well…I’ll say it yet again.
But the POINT is that while John was irresponsible in not wearing his seat belt, had Nick not been engaging in underage drinking and speeding then there is a GREAT possibility that the accident WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AT ALL.
And let’s face it…since John can’t talk to us, we don’t know if he even knew Nick had been drinking. We don’t know if he initially put on his seat belt and then for whatever reason took it off. Maybe he took it off to adjust it just before the crash. Nobody knows. But even if he purposefully didn’t wear it, the fact that he is in the hospital in a vegetative state is NOT totally his fault. Had Nick been driving normally and been involved in a minor fender bender, chances are John would have walked away.
And let’s face it…we’ve all been in situations we could not get out of. What was John supposed to do, jump out of a car at 100MPH on a city street? Nobody knows what John did or didn’t do to get Nick to stop (who, don’t forget, was under the influence) because, oh yeah, JOHN IS IN A VEGETATIVE STATE IN A HOSPITAL BED.
So let’s review. Hulk and Nick believe God caused the accident involving both Nick and John because John was a bad person.
I have reported before on the fact that the Grazianos are planning on suing. As well they should.
No, John wasn’t an angel and he should have taken precautions. But to place the blame for this on ANYONE but Nick is the height of arrogance. To say we are just mindless chess pieces being moved about on a big board by the finger of God is to take away our responsibility in our lives. And the Hogans are convinced that the concept of personal responsibility is as anathema to them as the concept of dressing normally and acting like decent people.
I am more than fair in my coverage and have tried to look at both sides. But the Hogans need to step up and take responsibility (and not just pay it lip service). If they do, I’ll report on it.

Very good article, thanks for posting the additional new info. How sad and tragic. Sounds like they are going through all the stages of CYA, the final and most important one being…blame everyone else but yourself. Sad.
How strange the way that celebutards these days think that splaying the “reality” of their lives on TV will clear them of all of their lunatic reputations. They should go hide for a while, like Moses did for 40 years, then they can come back. Maybe we’ll notice them again, maybe not.
Comment by Capcom — May 24, 2008 @ 4:15 pm
The Hogans are self-centered human beings. Hulk and his wife pimped their kids out on reality TV to further their “careers.” The truth of the matter is that neither of them is qualified or talented enough to do anything and both were too lazy to get an education.
If, in fact, god punishes people for their actions, Nick and the rest of the clan are getting exactly what they deserve.

Yes, there are TWO writers on this site, and if it’s a well-written and insightful commentary on stupid celebs, likely “k” wrote it. She rocks like that!
I am SHOCKED at what I read above from the two Bolleas. Blaming the victim is a symptom of total selfishness. Jeebus these two assholes couldn’t be more deserving of some instant karma — which in many ways seems to be coming their way.
Shame on Nick, but even more so on Terry. He’s a grown man who REALLY should know better.
As for the lmfao commenter, you are JUST wrong. That’s like blaming a victim of rape for wearing revealing clothes, and saying they were just asking for it.
Reckless driving caused John’s injuries, the seatbelt merely committed him to the grave nature of those injuries.
Comment by d — May 24, 2008 @ 4:21 pm
Unbelievable that the victim is being blamed in such a callous manner by an apologist for this slimy “family”. What hypocrits they are.
And to use the monicker “lmfao”? Not only is it cliche and shows you to be about as creative as my cat, but I see nothing “funny” about a young man’s life being, for all intents and purposes, over. You keep laughing you f****g ass off, and glosslip will keep reporting on what assholes these people are. I hope Nick gets comfy in his cage; it with parents who have the morals of a ground slug as his do, it won’t be the last time he’s put away like an animal.

you girls are just the funniest bunch.
pat the idiot who didnt wear his seatbelt on the vegetated head all you want, he still got himself into this mess. bollea’s pit crew even said that they drive like that all the time. you’re deluding yourself if you think that john was an innocent unwilling participant.
youre calling him an animal like hes not just some typical (though rich) 16 year old that drinks and does stupid shit. if theyd both walked away from this, itd just be a story about some dumbfuck who wrapped his supra around a palm tree. instead, half-wit (or is it “no-wit”, now?) decided to skimp on the life-saving technology, and subsequently got fucked up.
i will say it again: the hogans are scummy trash who deserve whatever trouble they get themselves into. but thats no excuse to ignore an extremely pertinent detail.

‘As for the lmfao commenter, you are JUST wrong. That’s like blaming a victim of rape for wearing revealing clothes, and saying they were just asking for it.’
you don’t always get raped because you’ve chosen to wear revealing clothes. you DO, however, always get hurt in a serious car accident if you’re not wearing your seatbelt. get the logic?

First, when I write my articles, I try to include as many sources as I can to back up my claims. The main sources I linked to in this article were reputable newspapers in the Tampa Bay area, not celeb gossip sites. So to accuse me of gathering my info from other celeb sites is to not do your OWN research, because had you clicked the links you would have found that out. Even when I linked to my own articles, most of the links in those were to newspapers. I had one link to TMZ here, and that is because they had a copy of the recording. I try my best to chase a story all the way back to the source, and much of the time the source in this case has been a newspaper. Click a link every once in a while so you can see what I’m talking about, and then maybe you won’t make accusations which can so easily be disproven.
And I am neither biased nor venomous. If you bother to look up the article I did the day of Nick’s sentencing, you’ll see that I wrote a fair piece showing all sides of the situation and even expressing empathy for Nick. But as long as he, and his father, and his family, are going to continue to act in a self-centered, unrepentant manner, I will continue to expose the hypocrisy.
If you bother to read anything else I’ve written, you’ll find that I am one of the fairest celeb bloggers on the ‘net. But I also refuse to be snowed by the bull continually spewed by celebs and their “people”, and I refuse to love them to death. I tell the truth.
John did not wear his seat belt. But, like I said, we don’t know under what circumstances he didn’t wear it. Maybe he temporarily took it off, maybe he just didn’t put it on. But as the DRIVER, it was up to NICK to make sure his passengers are properly belted, no matter if they are adults or teenagers. And it was up to NICK to drive in a responsible manner. Seat belt or no seat belt, had Nick been driving safely and NOT under the influence, this accident would not have happened. Period.
And let me reiterate the whole point of the article: Hulk and Nick believe God caused the accident involving both Nick and John because John was a bad person and somehow had to be punished for those past actions, and Nick was just an innocent tool in the process.
You believe as you wish. I will continue blogging. This is my last reply to you. Have a nice day.
Comment by k — May 24, 2008 @ 9:50 pm
“Nick was just an innocent tool in the process.” Can we just change that to read “Nick was a tool”? I think it fits much better.
Not wearing a seatbelt is foolish. Having a father who enables your delusions of innocence is dangerous.
There’s no way I’ll ever look at that family the same way again.
Comment by Joanie — May 25, 2008 @ 1:22 am
There’s nothing venomous about k, she’s one of the nicest, sweetest and most grounded individuals I know. This is why I invited her write here, because she brings much needed wisdom to the world of stupid celebritydom.
As for her “quoting other news sources” if you go to any other celeb site you will find that she and I do WAY more research and add way more value-content to our posts. We are hardly cut and pasters, so I resent the implication.
Also, k’s just a really, really talented writer whom I respect a lot and has supported me and this site during my off-topic tangents, which is incredible gracious of her.
Oh, and what Joanie said ^^^^^.

I’ve heard all the recordings and those Bolleas are just a bunch of idiots on wheels. The mother is living in her own little world and has taught the kids to do the same. Both parents have been too permissive and egotistical in raising the kids and now they are reaping what they sowed. Waa-waa-waa…

I do believe John was older than Nick, should have known better, and unfortunately John is living with the consequences of his actions. It is sad that his life has been cut short. But he made a really stupid decision to be involved in street racing.
At the same time, I think that the same characteristics (thrill seeking, risky behavior) are the same characteristics that can make a young man a great soldier/marine.
Nick & family — well, losers doesn’t begin to cover this! To imagine the stupidity of getting on a recorded line and blaming the victim, when Nick was the driver!!! I’m thinking 8 months may not have been long enough to get through that thick skull!
And I think they’ve done a reality show about Nick before — it was something like “Cell Block C”
Comment by S — May 31, 2008 @ 12:34 am
I am sickened by the conversations between Nick and his family. Obviously they have no remorse and will never take any responsibility upon themselves. It is never easy to visit your kid in jail or prison…I know I have done both. But I always told my son, you do the crime, you do the time. For whatever part John Graziano played in this, he received the ultimate sentence…the living death. Apparently that isn’t enough for some people. Terry and Linda Bollea as parents made some very stupid choices. They continued to allow a very immature son access to cars after excessive speeding tickets. It is apparent that they have never put limits on him and it was inevitable that someone was going to pay with their life. The car is registered in Terry’s name, under his insurance and as Nick is a minor, Terry and Linda as his parents are liable for this..plain and simple. One day Nick will walk out of jail and go home to Mommy and Daddy, drive again and maybe even have his own show…God I hope not. I hope he one day wakes up from what ever comatose fog he is in and takes a good look at himself and his family. He has a chance to turn himself around…John cannot even breathe on his own. For Nick and his family to try and dump all the blame on John is so cheap. Terry and Linda need to remember “so what you shall sow, so shall you reap”. Terry is saying God wanted this? Give me a break. The Bolleas have raised 2 kids who have no education, no limits and no responsibilitys. Like they say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Now Nick wants another reality show where he can make the most money…..Nick, you need to realize what is reality….the very fact that you were behind the wheel when you lost control while racing from stop light to stop light…and now the man who was once your best friend has a hole in his head the size of a baseball. That is reality.
