Glosslip Radio: Maureen Bolstad, Ex-Scientologist & Sea Org Member, Thursday, May 29, 9:00pm EDT
Glosslip Radio, in its continued coverage of the internet anti-Scientology movement fronted by activist group Anonymous, is proud to announce another great radio show. Tomorrow evening’s show, at a special day and time, Thursday May 29th, 9:00pm EDT, will feature Maureen Bolstad. Maureen, an 18-year veteran of the Church of Scientology’s most devout sect, the Sea Organization, will be joining us to discuss her heartbreaking story of disconnection from her family, including her twin sister, and her harrowing experience of escaping the Hemet, California SO site called Gold (Int) Base.
Maureen and I met recently at a gathering of many ex-Scientologists while I was visiting Los Angeles with my family a couple weeks ago. During this visit, I spoke with many ex-Scientologists, and they all had compelling stories to tell of their time in the cult, but Maureen’s was especially fascinating and sad. I look forward to being able to give her an opportunity to share her story with our listeners and we hope you can tune for tomorrow’s special show. Below is Maureen’s photo and bio.
I was born and spent my childhood in Santa Clara County; lived there until I was 16. I became involved with Scientology through a friend of my mother when I was 14. I was tricked into joining the Sea Organization along, with my little brother and, later, my twin sister. I was in the SO for 18 years. I spent 17 of those years out in Hemet at the Int base. I left staff in 2000. I tried to remain a public Scientologist for 5 years, but it didn’t work out. I left Scientology in 2005.
I was officially labeled a Suppressive Person by the CoS in Los Angeles in 2006. I’m currently going to college, but I’m self employed too. I do video dp work, photography projects and office admin and bookeeping. My brother and I are on good terms, but my twin sister is still involved in Scientology and she has stopped speaking to myself and most of our family.

When the walls come tumbling down, I hope Glosslip is recalled, along with the Village Voice, as the primary media outlet that courageously gave a voice to the voiceless when it was needed most.

Being a hero means making the decision that is right. Not just the easiest one. Living as an example is difficult. We need more heroes in this world, and I am glad to read of them here. This site is one that inspires hope for me.

Go Maureen! I remember when Maureen and her sisters and brother were all first in the Sea Org at Clearwater, I helped supervise a couple of them on their intro Sea Org courses!
I spent a couple months with Maureen on the “Happy Valley” RPF (rehabilitation project force - euphemism for the Sea Org “prison/re-education/brainwashing” camp for “fallen” Sea Org members) out near the Int Base near Hemet, California.

Should be a great show. Maureen worked at Int (Scientology’s secret no longer, top headquarters “Vatican”) for over a decade!
She’s done all sorts of things in those many many years she dedicated to top ranks Scientology staff life!

I’ll bet some former “RTC” staff are probably ripe for some future interviewing.
Dawn, you are doing a huge public service interviewing MORE ex top ranked Sea Organization staffers than ANYONE in ANY media, and giving them open time to talk!

There is a law of Nature or law of God called “Physiological Reactions†that is the true secret behind Scientology’s Dianectic study technology.
The LRH discovered that when you passed a misunderstood word—you manifested many reactions of various types: Yawning, sleepiness, not there feeling, dizziness, blurry eyes, nervousness and dozens more.
Being the liar that he was, he claimed that Dianetics was “‘his†invention and not a law of God; he hid the fact that it is our human inheritance since time began.

Dawn….I love ya and all, but I had a VERY hard time hearing her. The volume on her part was very low and you were very loud. I did a lot of turn up/turn down…..

I just feel sorry about her having to go through that whole ordeal to find out just how crooked $ci really is. Especially after that fucker smashed her hand. I’d like to introduce that guy to Mr. 50 lb. Sledgehammer.

The sound of the show unfortunately is dictated by the quality of the call. It’s run through BTR’s switchboard and their computer equipment, I have no real control over that, but I can try to speak more softly in the future.
But in truth, you are supposed to be loud and clear, so until now, I wasn’t aware that it was painful to listen to.
I’ll see if BTR can do anything on their end.
