I’ve never made a secret of the fact that The Andy Griffith Show is my mostest favoritest show ever, and Andy Griffith was the nucleus of that. Drawing from so many of his own life experiences, he was able to make a small-town sheriff into someone who transcended the one-note joke he could have been into a wonderfully nuanced character from whom we could all learn a thing or two.
He’s had many other roles since, but I’ll always remember him as the small-town sheriff without a gun, Andy Taylor. Someday I’d love to meet him and just shake his hand, and thank him for not only many hours of amusement but for teaching me some life lessons along the way. And if I have to share my birthday with anyone, I’m thrilled that it is him. 
I know this clip mostly features Barney, but it says it all.

Andy Griffith, what a great man he is, If we only had more responsible actors like him instead of Tomkat and Will Smith to name a few that shill for the dangerous Cult of Scientology. I can’t recall ever hearing a bad word about him, we could certainly use more Andy Griffith’s in this world!
