Ashley Tisdale Commits A Sacrilege! Nobody Messes With Rick Astley!
I cannot even believe this. Somebody needs to do something, and fast. Ashley Tisdale, of High School Musical, has butchered a CLASSIC, Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up.
It sounds like she recorded it in her bathroom with a Casio keyboard and a hairbrush microphone! Like, totally grody to the max, man! Gag me with a spoon!
I see she’s also done covers of Last Christmas, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, and the song I pined after my first serious love with, Time After Time. Where’s the 80’s police when you really need them? Can’t somebody do something about this serious insult to not only the 1980’s, but our sensibilities, ears, and IQ points?
Â
Â

Yikes! Good call on the Casio, she must have found one in an attic somewhere and thought, “What can I do to butcher classic songs? Sing them!” Was she even alive when these songs were released?

Ashley’s version is better than what, Rick Astley’s version? Honey please, get some more refined musical taste stat. Preferably something that doesn’t involve the Disney people.
Comment by squishers — June 5, 2008 @ 2:34 am
What’s this, Teen Barbie sings Rick Astley? God help me leave the 80’s alone child!…total heresy. I almost stroked out when i heard this.
Comment by toldya — June 5, 2008 @ 3:13 am
ashley’s version is way better!!!!!!!!!!
Comment by Osama — June 5, 2008 @ 3:37 am
I’d like to hear her take a shot at “I am the Walrus”.
She gives new meaning to the word SUCK!
Comment by Rachel — June 5, 2008 @ 8:53 am
Oh god, the musak, it’s horrible!
You Ashley fangirls must tone deaf or something to think putting a classic over an atrocious new beat suddenly makes it, like, so much better! It doesn’t even sound like the original, the melody is gone! Singing over an old Casio would have been better than that!
I need to go clean out my ears now. Ouch.

“I’d like to hear her take a shot at “I am the Walrusâ€.”
Hohoho. That would be pretty funny.
Anyway, utter trash. This tripe makes Britney and the Spice Girls almost seem worthy of their celebrity. But popular music has been in the gutter since at least 1996, maybe even back to 1994. I feel like rock is long overdue to come back again, but that’s just me. Actually, at this point, we might need some devil-worshipping and violent consumption of small animal heads just to get the ball rolling after more than a decade of sterile, sanitized A&R backwash.
Comment by Josh — June 5, 2008 @ 9:25 pm
She didnt make the songs better, you never lived when the originals were out, so you obiviously think hers is better. All song remakes are complete crap compared to the originals. Its called “lack of talent” and “stealing other peoples work”.
Comment by truefancrap — June 5, 2008 @ 10:36 pm
I want to punch kittens in the face after hearing that pile of crap. Rick’s taken craps better than that version.

Lol @ Ashley Tisdale fans.
My ears are ringing from listening to it, to be quite honest. I’m pretty upset over this, since…well, Rick Astley can sing.
The whole thing is pretty much unrecognisable.

TO ALL OF THE ASHLEY TISDALE FANS: Please don’t say that this is better than Rick, If anyone can do a cover of “Never Gonna Give You Up” it’s defiantly not Ashley.
Now here comes my flame mode. How old are you all? 11, 12? Grow up a little then come and discuss music, You obviously haven’t grown your own taste of music yet, When you grow out of what the Disney Channel has been spoon feeding you as “good music,” and listen to actual music then you can make good musical deciduous. Thanks for reading this little rand of mine.

“All song remakes are complete crap compared to the originals.”
Eh, usually right, but there are always exceptions. Jimi Hendrix’s “All Along the Watchtower” is arguably better than Bob Dylan’s (and this is also true of Guns ‘n Roses’ cover of “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door”). Pantera’s versions of “Planet Caravan” and (especially) “Cat Scratch Fever” are better than the originals. Um, the Bangles had some great covers (though their version of “Hazy Shade of Winter” sucks compared to Simon and Garfunkel’s original). Let’s see, who else? Me First and the Gimme Gimmes have quite a few covers that are better than or at least equal to the originals.

Im so sorry to her about her getting sick, its so sad when doctors don’t clean their medical equipment, she should sue them

Attention all Ashley fans.
Prepare to feel the wrath of the internet. That slut has fucked with our sacred song.
Congratulations Ashley Tisdale, the whole internet now hates you.
You will never see this, but your fans will be buttsore after reading it.
You have stolen from us one of our most precious objects. One of our most sacred treasures. You have taken this object and you have warped it, mutilated it, and consequently made money off of it. You have committed a crime. You have infringed on the copyrights branded into our souls. You stole our souls and you profited from doing so. You have taken this object of ours and you have warped it, mutilated it, and made money off of it. We do not like this. It has angered us. When you have angered the internet, it’s rage will not be unheard nor will it be silenced without it’s demands being met. The internet demands this of you:
-Publicly apologize for ruining Rick Astley’s song, Never Gonna Give You Up, and apologize for personally profiting from a song/meme that you have stolen.
-Donate most, if not all of the royalties to a charity of your choice. This ensures that the money is not wasted on batteries for your dildos or unnecessary cam whoring.
If these demands are not met, you will be eradicated from the internet. We will make sure of it. We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us.

@ fagette:
‘your an ass, she made all those songs better.’
It’s spelled you’RE, you fucking nigger
However, we should be kinder to Ashley, if I was diagnosed with HIV (like she was) I wouldn’t want to be mocked by others
You’re a brave soul Ashley Tisdale. I hop they can treat your disease.
Comment by Hal Hansen — June 6, 2008 @ 10:50 am
I know she has got AIDS and all, but destroying a classic song is unforgivable.
Comment by Haud Nomen — June 6, 2008 @ 11:37 am
Some remakes are well done and I can appreciate that.
This, however, is crap.
Comment by Random Passerby — June 6, 2008 @ 12:37 pm
fuck her….she has angered anonymous
Comment by me — June 6, 2008 @ 3:54 pm
Tie her up and throw her into the lake. If she floats, she’s a witch and must be burned.
Comment by Anonymous — June 6, 2008 @ 6:55 pm
That’s beyond hideous. NO.
MAKE IT GO AWAY!
Comment by twentythree — June 6, 2008 @ 8:56 pm
You can’t beat the original. No matter how you re-jog the music, Rick’s vocals are unbeatable.
Anonymous shouldn’t be getting upset. NGGYU has been covered many times, including Justin Timberlake when he was in N-Sync. Anonymous crying over Ashley covering this song is like a car thief whinging about getting his stolen car stolen. It’s Rick’s song, not theirs, Rick’s the Daddy.
