Remember When Mitch Said The Only Thing That Can Go Into Amy Winehouse’s Lungs Is Fresh Air?
So what does Amy do once she’s released from the hospital, diagnosed with the early stages of emphysema? Lights up a fag, of course.
What was it that her father Mitch said, just a couple of days ago?
Her father Mitch Winehouse has admitted that he is terrified that she will fall into her old habits and is concerned she’ll be ‘dead in three months’.
Amy collapsed at her North London home last week and was taken for tests at a London hospital by her 57-year-old father, who later said: ‘With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes her lungs are all gunked up.’
‘The only thing that can go into her lungs are fresh air. She faces a stark choice - either she sticks to it or she won’t sing again.’
‘To think this could be my beautiful 24-year-old daughter’s life is preposterous. But if drugs mean more to her than breathing properly, then so be it.
‘But the doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs it won’t just ruin her voice, it will kill her,’ he said.
Oh yeah. That’s what he said.
Look, I understand that addiction is a serious thing, and that you can’t just kick it as easily as you change your socks. And I really want Amy to try, because it’s so sad to see a beautiful young woman throwing her life down the toilet. But Amy is going to have to put forth more of an effort to try and change, or I agree with her father.
She has to want to change. And, at this point, it’s obvious that what she wants is to slowly kill herself with drugs. I sincerely hope she changes her mind, but how serious does it have to get before she wakes up and realizes what she’s doing to herself?

Sadly, an addict of her degree, will have to have her ass severely kicked to the curb to the point that the curb wants nothing to do with her anymore to even begin considering change. Me personally, I don’t have faith she’ll pull through this. Rare few find their way out of the spiral she seems to be sucking herself into.
