Denise Richards Admits Her Children Are In Therapy

No, actually I’m not glad to read that…I’m sad and more than a little angry.  It’s actually kind of pitiful, but at least they are receiving proper parenting from some sort of parental figure, even if it is a therapist:

Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen may be involved in a messy public custody battle, but they’re trying to make sure their children, Sam, 4, and Lola, 3, stay as unaffected as possible. “My kids are in therapy,” Denise exclusively reveals to In Touch. “It’s very sad that they need to be there, but they do for now. On the other hand, it’s good they have an outlet to deal with their feelings and someone who is just their advocate.” Denise, 37, hopes her admission helps other parents. “If I can help anyone feel better about their kids being in therapy — then something else good has come of this, too,” she says.

You know, I realize that you can be the best, most empathetic, most tuned-in parent to your children, and they might still need psychiatric help for some reason or another.  Life happens to the best of us, and so do congenital chemical imbalances.  Sometimes, people need therapy, and there’s just no way around it…and there’s absolutely nothing at all wrong with it.  If you need it, then you shouldn’t be ashamed of receiving the help you need.

But I do have to say that growing up as these two young girls are, thrust into the public eye via their mother’s shameful money-grabbing attempt reality television show, and living at the center of their parents’ nasty divorce and ongoing custody battle (complete with accusations of child molestation and internet porn addiction by Denise, and with threats and extremely nasty emails by Charlie)…is it any surprise that these two children need help?  These children are young, barely out of toddlerhood…what traumatic event happened to them that they need therapy so young?  Is anyone shocked by this?  Oh, perhaps besides Denise, who probably has no idea what her lifestyle choices are doing to her girls.

I wonder if she’ll record their therapy sessions for inclusion in her new reality television show?  I also wonder if she realizes that when she throws dirt at Charlie (undoubtedly her passive/aggressive reasoning for revealing this little tidbit:  “Look, if he weren’t such a jerk, my kids wouldn’t need this!”), she gets her own hands filthy?

Boycott!

  1. Her kids are THREE and FOUR. Three and Four year olds do not need to be in therapy unless they’ve already experienced some MAJOR TRAUMA in their lives.

  3. Doesn’t it seem a little shady that right after Heather Locklear admits to going into treatment that Denise says her children are in therapy?
