Glosslip Radio Exclusive: Gerry Armstrong, Ex-Scientologist and LRH Expert, Sunday, June 29th, 10:00pm EDT

Glosslip is absolutely thrilled to announce we will be interviewing Gerry Armstrong. For those of you who’ve been following our 6-month coverage of the anti-Scientology movement fronted by the internet activist group Anonymous, then you should also be familiar with the name Gerry Armstrong.

Like so many ex-Scientologists, Armstrong has played an integral role in exposing the Church of Scientology and its many frauds and abuses against its members and society at large. Gerry, who was forced to exile himself in Canada because of Scientology’s vicious “fair-gaming” is one of the most erudite and credible witnesses to the madness of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.

Not only did Gerry Armstrong work closely with Hubbard while serving as a member in the organization’s pseudo-military sect called the Sea Organization (or Sea Org, SO for short), but he was designated the task of coordinating a biography project on Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, which included the gathering and collecting of historical data and records, as well as, interviews with LRH’s family members and closest associates.

These efforts led Armstrong to discover many fraudulent claims made by Hubbard about his past, including his naval service and education records. When Armstrong submitted his findings to the Church of Scientology, he was disconnected from the Church and declared a suppressive person.

It would be almost impossible for me to document the lengths the CoS has gone to in order to silence Gerry Armstrong, but suffice it to say, in many ways, Gerry Armstrong may possibly be the Church of Scientology’s most dangerous critic.

Or to put it another way (as suggested in this brilliant article by Bruce Livesey for Masionneuve Magazine), Gerry Armstrong is to Scientology what Salman Rushdie is to Islam. Also, do read another great article by the Village Voice’s Tony Ortega on Gerry Armstrong.

I strongly encourage anyone interested in knowing more about how dangerous the Church of Scientology is to its critics to read about Gerry’s struggle to be free of their tentacle like clutches. Here are some important links to check out before tuning into this interview with Scientology’s most determined and courageous critic.

  1. The Maisonneuve article is bold and concise, the kind of $cientology reporting done only by blogs (present company especially included) in our fair country. Gerry, you are a treasure trove of information about the bloated megalomaniac Hubbard. Your courage and fortitude are legend in the critic community, and hopefully someone will have to courage to make a great film about $cientology, so the world can marvel and the long strange trip you and many other courageous critics have been on. I salute you!

  5. Let’s get down to brass tacks. By now, Gerry has cost the evil cult hundreds of millions of bucks in lost revenues — probably verging on a billion.

Sorry to put it in such crass terms, but money is their language, so what else can I say except “Go Gerry!”

Bankrupt the sleazebags so deeply that neither Craig Jensen nor Reed Slatkin can bail them out! ;-)

  7. The article in Maisonneuve inspired me to write something about Scientology and Lawfare. Dawn, are you still taking submissions from Anonymous guest bloggers? I’m almost finished with what I wanted to write about.

  9. If it wasn’t for the reporting of Gerry Armstrong I would still today be believing in the fictional life of Ron Hubbard.
It was because of how Armstrong exposed the fictional life of Ron Hubbard that this released me from the hold that Scientology had on me.

  19. Gerry is a real hero. He stood up to the crime syndiucate back when doing so was something that could get someone killed. He has real courage.

  21. Dawn ~ thank you for continually bringing this information and these broadcasts to the public. You are a pioneer and so courageous. It’s about time people like Gerry Armstrong had some media to get his story out – someone who isn’t afraid. Good on ya!

  23. I finally got to listen to the interview with Gerry. What can I say but thank you Gerry for your bravery and human spirit. How many got out because of your “sticking to your principals” and how many more did you keep from the clutches of this so called “church”. The more I read the more sinister it gets and just when you think it can’t get any worse it does. How can this have remain so hidden for so long? Any other institution that would behave in this fashion would have long been disbanded and/or imprisoned yet the veneer of “religion” coats them with such impervious arrogance and is the perfect camouflage to their fraudulent actions. It tarnishes completly the meaning of Freedom of Religion. It’s a wonder we don’t have more corporate cults cloaking themselves in this manner but I suppose Scientology has cornered the “market”. Again than you Gerry and it makes me proud to know you are a fellow Canuck.
