The Church Of Scientology’s Child Labor Abuse Exposed

Scientology Child Labor Exposed on Australian National TV from GrahamS on Vimeo.

Australia’s Channel 7 reporter Brian Seymour did a brilliant expose on the Church of Scientology’s long-standing child labor abuse, and their wide-spread deprivation of education to children of staff members. The expose, done in conjunction with an ex-child Sea Org member, exposes children being forced to work over 40 hour weeks and not providing these children with basic education.

Of course Scientology’s response to the report was typical. They accused the reporter of being an agent who is working with Anonymous, because of course, no one in their right mind would question a sinister cult which seeks to undermine families, rob people of their money AND their dignity, and violate both moral and legal codes of conduct. Right?

WRONG. Thank you to Brian Seymour for having the courage and to Channel 7 for backing him up. Also, many thanks to WS for forwarding this story.

Also, Anonymous will be staging their SIXTH protest this weekend, Saturday, July 12th. Clearly, their efforts are hammering away at the crumbling facade of deception Scientology has precariously built on its web of lies.

Glosslip will have more on the next protest later this week.

  7. Thanks for posting this report.

I hope that the authorities act quickly to stop the cult from exploiting children. The Scientology leadership is obsessed with money. They abuse their most dedicated followers and attempt to indoctrinate them to the point that they believe child labor is acceptable.

In the end, the whole enterprise of Scientology only benefits the leaders. In particular, David Miscavige is notorious for his abusive, violent “management style”, $5000 tailored suits and costly renovations for his personal buildings.

  13. Let’s not forget David Miscavige’s taste for expensive scotch and he smokes like a chimney! The reason the church is so rich is because it thrives on the backs of slave labour. If it actually had to pay even “minimum” wage to all its staff it would not be able to buy so many empty buildings. Add to the fact that members have to pay such inflated grossly exagerated prices for its “spiritual teachings” feeds further into the money pit. And to top it all off this so called church expects its members to contribute further to “fundraise” more and more money for its projects including paying lawyers and P.I. to harass, track and litigate against anyone who “dares” speak out against its abuses i.e ex members, critics, journalist, scholars and even public people exercising their constitutional rights to free speech.

  15. Why does Australian journalist have the balls to expose this abuse but all the other networks run a mile. Goverments (especially in the US ) need to wake up. I can understand the reasoning of free choice for adults but if this was in the far east fashion industry everyone would be screaming blue murder.

  17. Since a particularly damning video was posted on youtube which clearly shows Hubbard was insane, $cientology has been marking all critical comments as spam, which then hides them. They’re doing this all day, every day, on the most popular videos. What they don’t want people to see:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vd1v7K5CsT4

Video showing a $cientologist telling an elderly woman using a walker that the sidewalk is closed off and she’ll need to “go around” 3 blocks. Her response is priceless.

  25. I’m very happy this was on Australian TV, and they pretty much got it right.

Unfortunately, the actual program it appeared on, “Today Tonight” is the worst of Australian gutter journalism. It is the lowest of the low, and I don’t regard anyone who works on the show as a journalist, but as a parasite.

This is probably the first thing they’ve gotten right in 20 years. My usual reaction whenever I’m forced to watch the tripe is to take their point of view, and reverse it to figure out the truth of the matter.

For shame on all actors who will defend the Churchof Scientology! (in it’s present form:)

  29. “Today/Tonight” has aired many reports on $cientology over the past year. I don’t know a lot about the program other than those pieces, but they’ve certainly done a good job with them, and at least have the guts to go up against the cult when others do not.

    Kudos to them.

  33. Today Tonight are not exactly bastions of thorough journalism (too many stories on dodgy tradesmen and weight loss fads), but they’ve really come through with this one. Hilariously, the CoS’s response is that Bryan Seymour is “determined to destroy the church”. Yup, always attack, never defend.

Still, it would appear that the Melbourne Org is now under investigation by the relevant Workplace and Education authorities. It’s about damn time!

  41. While Today Tonight is certainly not the epitome of respected journalism in Australia, it DOES reach a market of the population that otherwise may not ever be aware of the abuses of this organisation.

Regular people who are concerned about petrol prices, where to buy the cheapest groceries and what dodgy mechanic might rip off thier grandparents all had front-row seats to an insight into this dangerous organisation without even having to know what Google is, letalone try to use it to educate themselves.

The fact this is being covered on prime time eveninig television, on a commercial current affairs program is so beyond epic I can’t even get over the fact they’ve done SEVERAL of these peices already. Way to go TT, and thankyou Glosslip for covering it also!

  49. This story brings back long ago memories of working on staff when I was 15 full time. My sister started full time also at 15 and was moved to Denmark away from all of her family and a dad that was against them taking her there. Mom joined full time and moved away when I was 17. I’ve never seen a more evil organization in my life. I hope there is a special place for DM for all time.

  53. hmmm 2 days 26 comments and no Scientologist’s trying to spin this clear cut case of child labor abuse? It’s just like the village voice article about scientology New York head John Carmichal vulguarlly insulting Anon’s on camera. There were 80 comments not one sci-troll to be found. Come on Terryeo? Merril? Where are you? We want to see how you’re gonna spin this one. I especially like it when you guys pretend to be disgrunteled former Anons and complain about cancer and fail epically at using memes. That is very entertaining.

Oh by the way just follow the link in my name to see that video.

Scientologists come up to present time. You cannot stay silent on the abuses commited by your “church” anymore.
