Do NOT Mess With Spider-Man, Er, Tobey Maguire

The above video made my DAY. I love Tobey Maguire, he’s so angry and brooding.

Seriously, I saw a brief shot of him at a Lakers game during the playoffs and MAN, did he looked PISSED that the cameras were focused on him. I find it both amusing and kind of sad that some celebrities can’t accept the price they must pay for fame. I am not blaming Tobey for being pissed, seriously, but the dude needs to lighten the eff up. Life’s too short to get so worked up over such silliness.

So here’s a little something for you Tobey, from my favorite film Stripes.

  1. I gotta side with Toby on this. All that camera stoopiditee could be endangering to himself and his passenger especially when all he wanted to do was leave.

  3. Tobey rocks the shit outta this one. I’m sorry, but since when does one think it a grand idea to continually flash bright lights in the eyes of someone driving a large vehicle? I’m surprised one of the paps didn’t end up as road kill.

  5. Paps + flashing bright lights in a driver’s face = very stupid idea.

That being said, can’t Tobey afford a driver and/or a bodyguard? Let the pros handle the morons while you sit in the back seat and look appropriately broody and morose at the fact that you’re richer than anyone on that block. The paps were being stupid, Tobey was trying to drive, and the situation could have turned ugly. So why not hire somebody to do that stuff for you?

Seriously, while I don’t agree with the terrorazzi techniques, and I undoubtedly would have lost my temper as well, Tobey should know by now that this is one of the things that come along with being a Star.

There’s a simple solution, to paraphrase Johnny Rotten: If you don’t want to be a star, stop being one. Go back to your normal, anonymous life without all the perks and money. Whaddya say, Tobes?

What’s that? Uh-huh, that’s what I thought. So yeah, lighten up, Francis.

good for tobey. i get really tired of ppl saying that celebrities should get use to paps shoving cameras in their face everytime they go out. it’s easy to pass judgment when YOU don’t have to deal with being in that kind of situation. i wonder how “light” you’d be if you had that happen everytime you went somewhere.

  9. I never said celebs should get used to paps shoving cameras in their faces and acting like idiots.

I said they should hire drivers and bodyguards, since they have enough money to do so, and let people who have been professionally trained in defensive driving and in handling threatening situations handle the paps.

Listen, if my neighbor came over here acting like an idiot, I wouldn’t handle it myself, I’d call the cops…people TRAINED to handle those sorts of situations. Same logic applies.

  11. When my neighbors act like idiots, I invite them in for a drink. Which generally leads to more idiotic behavior :)

    I kid, I kid.

    Well, sort of.

  13. Are you suggesting that it is Maguire’s fault? Not surprising, actually – you make your money from this kind of crap.

  15. He handled it much better than I would have. If someone was shining lights in my face while I was trying to turn into traffic, I’d shove their camera up their clacker.
