Angry Hillary Clinton Supporters Need To STFU or GTFO!
I watched the Hillary Clinton speech (linked above) at the DNC last night and I was a bit concerned about how this would all go over, because if you listen to the media, there is a major riff in the Democratic Party, and now is NOT the time for such things. For Senator Clinton’s part, she was fabulous. Now, if only her supporters would get behind her and their party.
While I am clearly leaning towards Barack Obama at this point in the race, I am still open to seeing what the next couple of months with reveal. I do not dislike McCain, I do, however, dislike his slimy, over-the-top negative ads. Instead of turning me, a centrist independent, towards him, McCain’s poorly crafted and hastily thought out ads are driving me further away. I don’t want comparisons to celebs or mindless attack ads. I just want to know where the man stands on important and fundamental issues. That’s it, that’s all I want to hear about, read about and understand. The rest is just noise.
Now, as for the whole Hillary/Obama controversy, I blame the angry, selfish, and teeth-gnashing delegates and crazed supporters of Hillary for NOT LETTING IT THE EFF GO. I am sorry your candidate didn’t win the nomination or get the VP nod. It sucks, believe me, I have had to live for 8 years under the Bush/Cheney legacy of failed leadership. I honestly can’t remember a time when I have felt MORE insecure as a citizen of this nation, as I have with these two men running the country. I didn’t vote for them, but alas, I am still a citizen of the U.S. and I pay my taxes, follow the rules and respect the law of the land regardless. I am proud to be an American - in spite of who the other side of the aisle put in charge.
McCain, no matter what, would be a ENORMOUS improvement over Bush Cheney, but Barack Obama as president could bring a new vision and fresh perspective this country DESPERATELY NEEDS. When I hear about these protesters and delegates turning their back on their country, their party and their responsibility to this nation, it makes me want to vomit.
Hillary said emphatically, unequivocally and without hesitation in her speech that Democrats must come together and make sure we move away from the Republican leadership which brought us 9/11, the costly (in lives and finances) Iraq war, a deficit which will leave our children digging us out for years to come, mortgage and bank failures, an energy crisis, inflation, recession and a false sense of security which could be shattered at any minute by some new enemy we created because of our failed foreign policies.
I don’t blame McCain, but I do blame Republicans for this fiasco. So it is with this in mind that I am DISGUSTED to my very marrow, that there are people who call themselves Democrats and public servants who would sooner turn over the power to the Republican party, than suck up their pride and come together to help build a stronger nation. GET THE EFF OVER YOURSELVES, Hillary said MOVE ON and SUPPORT your nominated Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama, who WON, fair and square.
Shame on you Hillary supporters who refuse to accept what’s best for all of us, and for turning your back on this nation.

REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP BROUGHT US 911? WTF?
I’m no fan of McCain but hes a far better choice than 145 days worth of experience Obama, who cannot stick solidly to any one issue.
Part of me hopes Obama gets it so folks with your ideology can finally see what bad shit is really like.
PS: I’m not a bad guy Dawn, if I had friends you could ask them!

Well, yes, the Bush/Cheney leadership was in charge when 9/11 happened. They were warned, as was the Clinton admin, but ultimately, President Bush was president when it happened. I said I don’t hate McCain, but I want someone who is NOT a Washington insider. We need a new way of thinking about how we go forward with this country. Status quo won’t work.
Essentially though, the nature of the post was really about how disappointing and disturbing these Hillary supporters are who won’t get behind the nominated party candidate. Talk about divisive.

9/11 is the Bush’s fault? Really? I thought it was islamic extremeists. Pointing fingers at each other weakens us as a country when we should be untied.
As far as the ads, I agree, I think McCain would be better served to show his stands on issues. The same goes for Obama. Chanting “Change” doesn’t tell me what he plans to do.

does anyone know of an informative, unbiased website where i can compare the history/policies of the two candidates and make an educated decision? all i know is that obama says “change” all the time and that mccain is old. neither helps.

t, try this site:
http://glassbooth.org/, they have a really great quiz which is based on each candidates stance on various issues. It does a really nice comparative analysis of the candidates also. Give it a shot, it might help.

I’ve been to glassbooth, and the only problem I can find with it is that it keeps changing my candidate. Of course, that’s probably because I keep changing my answers.
Does that mean I’m flaky or just ADD?
I don’t necessarily agree that Republicans “brought us” 9/11. I think the seeds of 9/11 were sown many years ago, and we can’t sit and point fingers at any one political party and say they were any more or less responsible than the other. Mistakes have been made all around in both America and other countries which have brought these situations to a head.
But I do agree that attack ads, whether they be Republican or Democrat based, are reprehensible at worst and boring at best. Fortunately, I haven’t seen any Presidential ads on the TV. I swear, I haven’t seen any! What channel are they on?

Ok, B.O. will not recite the PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE! Is that who you want for the U.S.A. President? I’m not crazy about McCain (he is too old) but B.O. is for sure not a better choice here. In his book he wrote in his own words that he ceased to advertise his mother’s race because by doing so he was ingratiating himself to whites. He had animosity toward whites. When speaking about a white man in his book, he said that he was wary of him because he was white. He said he will stand with Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction. (read the books) Ok, I have a problem with him. I have to go with the lesser of the 2 evils…Hillary should have been the dems choice, period! She would have won the election!

Oh geez angie, don’t you read anything other than FoxNews. Barack is a Christian, always has been, He is NOT a Muslim. Sheesh, it’s amazing how gullible people are. You are the EXACT person those slimy McCain ads are targeting. Open your eyes and smell the lies.

I’ve never heard BO mention Jesus at all, but then again I never heard of BO before this year.
You’re so right Dawn, election time is definately painful!

Dawn, I generally greatly respect your views and the way you cover events. I admire your unveiling of Scientology… but this article really disappointed me. You GREATLY oversimplify the situation of 9-11 and are buying into Democratic propaganda that is just as slimy as you claim the Republican’s is. Do I agree with most of the politics ads (on both sides)? No. But trying to pin a horrific catastrophe neatly on just one party when members of both party had information…it’s really just not cool. Hindsight is everything, unfortunately, and what seems so blindingly clear now was not at the time even to those who are paid to know.
