Anonymous Will Stage Anti-Scientology Protest At Katie Holmes Broadway Debut
The anti-Scientology group known as Anonymous plans to stage a public protest during the upcoming debut of Katie Holmes’ new Broadway debut in October. Holmes, most famous now for her whirlwind marriage to world famous actor Tom Cruise, than her acting credits, will be starring in the Arthur Miller play “All My Sons,” set to debut on October 16. Katie most certainly wants the world to know about her latest project, but Mrs. Tom Cruise may have more attention than she bargained for.
Unwanted negative attention is something the Church of Scientology has to be growing weary of as we enter the eighth month of global protests organized by the web-based group now known for remaining (A)nonymous and donning Guy Fawkes masks.
The internet activist group Anonymous is going strong in its efforts to expose the abuses and corruption from within the controversial “religion.” What began as a response to internet censorship by the Church of Scientology when they attempted to shut down a leaked video showing an unhinged Tom Cruise as he espoused the virtues of the pseudo-religion, has since become a growing movement. Since the first global protest which began this past February, Anonymous has staged monthly protests and waged an all out information campaign on the web to educate the masses to the true nature of Scientology.
Most of the free world is aware that Tom Cruise is an outspoken member of Scientology (an organization many consider a money-making cult). This is by design. Cruise has used his fame and status to promote his religion’s ideals, including their desire to ban all psychiatric medicine and approved pharmaceuticals, most famously illustrated in his public war with actress Brooke Shields after she openly discussed her post-partum depression and the psych-drugs which she feel saved her life.
Glosslip’s coverage of the Anonymous vs. Scientology movement is expansive, and we encourage you to educate yourself about Scientology and its campaign to “obliterate psychiatry” as well as the callous abuses it has afflicted on its members and those who dare criticize its actions.
It may seem like an extreme measure to protest Katie Holmes, a mere covert to the religion, but it’s important to note that Tom Cruise is the de facto second in command of the Church of Scientology, and has had everyone around him convert to its religious teachings, based on the writings of sci-fi writer L. Ron Hubbard. Katie, who was a devout Catholic before marrying Tom Cruise, has become a Scientologist as did Tom’s second wife, actress Nicole Kidman, and both of his adopted children, sisters and mother.
Katie, whose popularity and acting career centered around her earthy girl-next-door charm, has undergone a dramatic transformation in the public eye. Once a bubbly mid-Western girl from Ohio, Holmes is now often seen wearing the most dour of expressions and is known for vacillating wildly between high fashion couture to unflattering hairstyles and questionable wardrobe choices. To say that marrying Tom Cruise has stifled Holmes’ career is a understatement. Cruise and more importantly, Scientology, have altogether extinguished the spark that made America love Katie.
It’s difficult to say what this protest will accomplish in the Katie Holmes universe, but it is my hope that it will be the impetus she needs to question a life which has greatly limited her and her family’s, cutting her off from a world which once adored her.

I am sure that Katie’s parents and friends would surround her and protect her if she chose to leave that cult – yes, CULT
It is sad to see a family break up.
Actually, I wish TC would get some wisdom and leave the cult so their family can stay together.
He needs saved too. I don’t like him but am thinking of Suri.

Kudos once again to Anonymous. The more scrutiny drawn to this duplicitous cult the better.
And the downward spiral continues…

So now they are going to protest her play ?? It appears that they are harassing individual members, that seems pretty stupid. I thought there (Anonymous)whole goal was to “enlighten people about the negative aspects” of Scientology, but this seems more like a personal attack on someone.
Protesting at a church or an event is one thing, but to attack a certain person at there job is another. There goal is to terrorize her while she performs, in hopes that she will make a mistake or leave the production of the play. This is an extremely petty move by these protesters.
And besides, what ever happened to the 1st amendment right to the constitution, which guarantees every person the RIGHT to practice there religion without persecution ??

Hey Dawn, here’s some related gossip…
Graham Berry (Lawyer for Anonymous) posted this on enturbulation.org yesterday…
– quote begin —
I had telephone call from a New York friend earlier in the day. Recently, he had gone to his local restaurant with a buddy. There were several big black SUVs outside and they were shown to a table in a rear private room. They only other diners were John Lithgow and Katie Holmes. “She looked so awful,” he said. “Even worse than she does in the glossies. She is so thin she looks as though she has AIDs.”
I replied, “Scientology processing can do that to you. Look what it did to Lisa McPherson. And look what it didn’t do for Kirsty Alley.” My friend continued. “Katie’s bodyguards were really weird man. Every time I looked up and over towards them they just stared at me.” “Robots will do that.” “Well on the way out I stunned them so speechless their mouths dropped open.” I was intrigued. “How I asked?” “As we walked past them we said ‘the SPs are leaving now!”

Sort of related…
Katie Holmes is not the only celebrity name that is causing the anonymous protest against the cult scientology to hit the news big time. Will Smith’s “scientology school” is going to be protested
http://www.thecelebritytruth.com/smiths-school-targeted-scientology-protests/004385
This is part of the Anonymous september protest theme: “Schools Out” which is to make people aware of scientology edumacashun programs attempting to infiltrate our education system with LRH “tech” under false pretenses.
P.S. Fact: David Miscavige’s education ended at the 10th grade and has no other qualifications. When asked, during a deposition, if he had a high school education he said, “I don’t know what that means”.
duh.

Brian D. get informed. Understand what it is you are defending before making comments only $cientologists or people who have been living under a rock for the past year would make.
$cientology is NOT a religion.
Tom and Katie use their fame and influence to recruit more victims into that criminal cult. They are unwitting accomplices because extreme measures have been taken by the cult to shelter them from the ugly truth.
Katie is so sheltered that maybe some extreme measures must be taken to let her know the danger she is in. Something will eventually have to make her wonder why so many people are so concerned about this.
In case you are in any doubt about the criminal history of that organization, a simple google search will pull up plenty of documentation and court records that the cult has fought to keep out of public eyes.
Anonymous, longtime critics and victims of the cult have been working hard to bring those to light. Wikileaks now has a pretty large category for $cientology documentation that has been leaked. You can also find them under the Leaks & Legal section of the enturb.org forum.
You moan about freedom of religion, but what of the freedom of those whose lives have been destroyed (or even ended) by that insidious cult to have justice for what they’ve suffered?
Have you heard THEIR stories? Have you read their court affidavits detailing the horrors they’ve survived? Have you seen the tears of those who have lost their loved ones because of it? Can you explain all the suicides and mysterious deaths that occur to it’s members and critics?
Oh wait, you ARE just a silly little enturbulated redneck $cientologist that literally buys everything that cult tells you to believe!
They know you’d probably stop giving them your time and what little money you have if you knew the truth.
Do they tell you not to read bad “entheta”?
Do they tell you it is all a conspiracy by the “merchants of chaos” to keep your cult from “saving this sector of the universe?”
Have you recently been “sec checked?”
Do they instruct you to yell at ashtrays?
Are you downstat and in fear of being sent to RPF?
I wouldn’t put links to your myspace page if I were you. Your profile isn’t exactly a positive representation for your cult.
Comment by Nikki — September 3, 2008 @ 6:40 pm
I actually agree with Brian. Seems pretty silly to protest Katie Holmes’ play.
Did Anonymous go protest Tropic Thunder? TC was actually IN that one. Maybe they were there, but were just overshadowed by the Retard Rangers?
I’m not a Scientologist. I think they’re the wackiest of the wacky cults. But I’m not sure protesting a Broadway play with the (apparently) brainwashed spouse of a Scientology member is the right way to go. Sort of doesn’t “hit it”.
And Nikki, WOW! Angry much?
Comment by Moses — September 3, 2008 @ 6:52 pm
Nikki, Try prozac. Settle down.
Comment by smarc — September 3, 2008 @ 7:07 pm
Ok Moses, Brian D, and smarc. If you actually take a look at the planing thread on enturbulation.org. You will see that the plan isn’t to attack Katie Holmes. The plan is to actually to show her a lot of support. Inform the public of how Scientology abuses it’s members and breaks up families.
If you are wondering why Nikki is so angry just take a look at exscientologykids.com. read some of the stories posted in the voices in Unison project. Read through those and tell me you have no idea why Nikki would be angry.
Comment by Marcab Soldier — September 3, 2008 @ 8:14 pm
Of course you agree with Brian, Moses. You’re both $cientology apologists.
When I think of the lives destroyed, when I see the images of a dead Lisa McPherson, held for 17 days in a $cientology hotel I get a bit angry myself. Maybe YOU should consider getting a little angry at $cientology’s nearly 60 year reign of terror.
Nikki has it exactly right. And every day, thanks to Nikki and others, more people learn the truth about $cientology. And there’s nothing you can do about it.
Comment by Rachel — September 3, 2008 @ 8:36 pm
I STILL can’t believe that, in the time since this whole thing started, of all the protests and demonstrations held across the globe and God knows what else… that THIS is the BIGGEST media coverage Anon has gotten!
For those of you who are harping on about Anon ‘attacking’ Katie. This is, by NO MEANS, a personal attack. It’s letting her know that there is help out there for her IF she decides to bail. Have you taken a good look at her lately? She has all the classic tell-tale signs of someone who is being abused. Not so much physically, mind; all the life has been sucked out of her. She looks less like a Hollywood star and more like a broken woman.
And seriously, when everything blows open, when Miscavaige and the rest of his willing cronies are brought down, everyone and I do mean EVERYONE, including the celebs involved in this farce, will go down with him. Do you honestly think the public at large will believe Cruise when he claims (and he will) that he ‘…had no idea of the abuses going on’? He will be taken to task for his role, to say the least and have MASSIVE responsibility heaped on his shoulders for his role. Katie, at the end of the day, is a victim of ‘puppy love’ gone wrong and I personally would rather not see her go down for this.

In the late 1960’s a movement begin whose result in present day is grown up hippies and second generation hippies living in rural areas of northern California. That generation had time and opportunity to protest, the Vietnam War provided a prompting and centering point for their emotional baggage. Many found that land was cheap, raw, and undeveloped in northern California. Many settled in Garberville and other small towns and some begin to grow their own crops. Miles of green forest, pleasant weather, a lack of hassle, like thinking friends and internet connectivity provides their amusement today.

Not a lot of “amusement” in the cult these days is there Terryeo? Nothing to be amused about. More bad press than ever before, people leaving and speaking out in droves, stats down 50%, the complete batshit crazy Xenu story on wikileaks, countless videos on youtube of you and your fellow cult members acting like brainwashed Ronbots, being investigated for fraud and practicing medicine without a license. Nothing funny about that.
Go ahead and make your silly accusations of the week. (This week-hippies!) The fact is if you weren’t worried you wouldn’t be here. There wouldn’t be a terryeo on every critical forum on the net 24/7, monitoring our posts. I know the truth, and that IS endlessly amusing.

The point Im trying to make, is that people have choices. If you dont believe in Scientology, just steer clear of Scientology. Dont take it upon urself to attack and bash individuals for their believes.
This whole article was about how Anon was going to “wake Katie up” by protesting at her place of employment(the theatre). To me, that seems like more of a personnal attack, especially since their going to be IN the audience.

How come sites like http://www.xenu.net are routinely sued by CoS for printing “copyrighted” documents but then are told their website are full of lies? Which is an inherent contradiction by the way?

Brian,
Scientology is only a religion if it feels prosecuted or if the IRS is after them. For everything else, it’s just a business.
Not saying you’re no good. Not saying it can’t work.
But the organisation is corrupt to the core. I am sure you will be delighted to hear the FBI is working very hard on clearing out the corruption and crime in your “church”. I sincerely hope you will not be trapped in their spotlights, once the shit starts hitting the fan.
Yes, public Scientology can be a free and happy life. But once OSA comes looking, the Spanish Inquisition pales in comparison.
Quit hiding behind the religious facade and admit things are not right at the moment. There are ways to get auditing outside the corruption.
There are literally 100’s of stories about things that are bad in your Scientology. There is not 1 substantiated story about Anonymous comitting crimes. We don’t pressure girls into having abortions. We don’t have prisoncamps for non-believers. We do not starve our members to death. The only thing we have in common? We don’t get paid either.
Please, take a step back, look at the organisation, and step out. We’ll welcome you.

Hey Brian,
As soon as the management of Scientology and select upper-echelon members of the organization quit ruining the lives of non-parishioners, family members, and anyone else opposed to the abuses of Scientology… as well as breaking innumerable Federal and State laws…I’ll stand down as an outspoken critic.
You, as a Scientologist, absolutely have the right to believe whatever you believe in. Your right to exercise your beliefs ends where it impinges on the constitutionally guaranteed rights of others… or breaks federal, state or local statutes.
Your organization has, enthusiastically, run roughshod over the rights of others… breaking the law in the most spectacular ways… consistently misrepresented itself in its beliefs… deceptively recruited people through misleading and bogus practices… bilked the gullible out of countless millions of dollars with unfulfilled promises of magical-sounding powers… the list goes on-and-on.
Guess what? If you and other adherents of Scientology aren’t willing to clean up your organization’s act — there are now a hell of a lot of brave individuals who are going to challenge you at every turn, expose every abuse, and bring the law down on you until change occurs or your organization ceases to exist.
Label us SP’s. Dismiss our grievances. Assume we’re just troublemakers here to distract you from your Bridge to Total Freedom. LRH was perfect. Infallible. Unquestionable.
That sort of hubris is precisely the mind-set that has brought so much flak your way lately.

I don’t even think she’s really a Scieno, since she’s never spoken out much about it. Why ruin someone’s Broadway debut just because they married Tom Cruise? MISCAVIGE is the enemy, NOT Katie. LEAVE HER ALONE!

Comment by Rachel — September 4, 2008 @ 10:31 pm
#33, Anonymous ISN’T OUT TO HARASS KATIE. It’s there to offer support should she (hopefully) decide to leave. This is letting her know that there are people out there who are watching out for her and concerned for her and Suri’s well-being.
The only reason Katie hasn’t spoken out about being a Scientologist is she likely isn’t ALLOWED to. In an interview, Tom Cruise stated that they are ‘just Scientologists’. She converted after marrying him. It’s very likely she’s afraid of speaking out due to fear of being declared and having Suri taken away from her.
While Miscavige is the ‘Big Boss’, it’s next-to IMPOSSIBLE to get anywhere near him. Tom Cruise, however, is the defacto ’second-in-command’ as well as a major celebrity. Celebrities are the COS’s life blood; they will give MASSIVE donations to their ‘religion’ that go directly into funding PI’s lawyers and all other such things to bring down critics. Once again, Katie is NOT being targeted for harassment. Anon’s are going to be there to let her know that there is help for her should she leave the COS and this is the best way to get that info to her. Even if she doesn’t see the protesters, the media will… and there is NO WAY Tom or her ‘handlers’ will be able to keep such massive publicity from her for long.

@ brian here’s some copy pasta for you. A letter from a mother to her daughter in the Sea Org.
Dear Ms. Pouw,
I am sure you are aware that on the 11th of March, 2008, I issued a press release entitled “Mother Bear Defends Cub”. This release detailed my efforts to bring my daughter, Katherine, home for a vacation with her family. During the fifteen years that my daughter has been a member of the Church of Scientology’s Sea Organization, she had only come home for one three day visit in 1996 – cut short by the Church due to some “emergency”.
When I allowed my daughter, then a minor, to join the Sea Organization, I was told that Sea Organization Members are allowed three weeks holiday per year. In fact, it is stated in the contract that Katherine signed in 1993: “2. HOLIDAYS: ‘…three (3) weeks per continuous active year for Sea Org Members’.” This has never happened.
During Christmas of 2004, Katherine was denied permission to attend a family reunion in Minnesota, with relatives she has not seen in many years, some of which she has not seen since childhood. After the travel reservations had been made and tickets purchased, Katherine informed me that she was not able to go. To somehow include Katherine in the reunion, she was put on the speaker phone to wish both grandparents a Merry Christmas. She was sobbing and apologizing for not being able to be with them.
I have tried to be patient with the Church. I have had no objection to Katherine following her religious principles and beliefs and have not objected to her work for the Church of Scientology. But I have objected to the continuing and systematic isolation of Katherine from her family. Katherine and I have enthusiastically discussed vacation plans many times, with no plans ever coming to fruition. My calls with Kate have become less and less frequent, and at times, I find myself talking to her on a speaker phone, with others present in the room who do not identify themselves. My daughter sounds less and less herself and more and more “coached” and cautious in her responses.
To deny my daughter normal communication with me, and the opportunity for vacation time with her family, is unconscionable. Last March, I reached the end of my tether, and issued a press release about the situation. I issued an ultimatum: “Have my daughter at home in my living room within two weeks, or I will go to law enforcement and the media.”
As a result of this ultimatum, a hurried meeting was arranged between myself and my daughter. I flew down to Los Angeles and met my daughter and her Office of Special Affairs “handler,” a woman named Beth, at the J. Paul Getty Museum. It was wonderful to see my daughter, and Katherine and I hugged and cried together. Katherine bought postcards from the museum store, wrote notes on the back of them, and gave them to me:
“Dear Mom,
These postcards are to remind you of our day together, to remind you we will always be in
communication, no matter the distance, to remind you that you raised a happy, healthy, contributive
person, to remind you that I will visit you, to remind you that I love you!
All M’ Love, Katherine”
Katherine promised me that she would come soon for a vacation. Her handler also promised me that it would absolutely be worked out so Katherine could come and visit us in Portland. She seemed sincere. I felt reassured.
On April 30th Katherine informed me that she was going to do a “special program”, and that I would not be able to talk to her until the program was completed. Katherine told me that I could speak with Beth while this program was in progress. I asked what kind of program it was, but Katherine and Beth refused to say. The program, which was supposed to take four or five weeks, is still not completed.
It is now four months later, and we are no closer to Katherine visiting than we were in March. My own vacation came and went. My birthday came and went. No Katherine. On my birthday, I received flowers from Katherine, followed by a phone call not from Katherine, but from her OSA handler Beth, asking if I had received the flowers. Beth wished me a Happy Birthday.
In August, Katherine reached the point in her program where she was allowed to speak with me. The last time I talked to my daughter was mid-August. My daughter was not her spontaneous, loving self, but sounded strained and stiff. She expressed concern, that because I am no longer in Scientology, that I do not approve of what she is doing with her life as a Scientology staff member. She asked me to send her any critical things I had been reading about the Church, (so she could “handle” me on each one of these). This would have to be done, she said, before she could come and see me.
This is ridiculous. In the first place, I have no intention of spending our valuable vacation time with my daughter arguing about religion. I have always respected her decision to follow Scientology. As you know, I am myself a former Scientologist. I left the Church for my own reasons, as is my right. That my daughter and I have chosen different religious paths is of no consequence to anyone, and, frankly, is no business of the Church of Scientology. Many parents and children disagree on religious matters, or political matters, or a host of other things. It does not affect their love and respect for each other, and is no reason to forbid connection between them.
Scientology preaches that communication is the “universal solvent” and will resolve anything. Yet in this case, that sentiment is not being applied. Communication is being denied. Do you seriously think that Katherine’s faith is so fragile that the slightest contact with any criticism of Scientology will shatter it? If so, then you have less faith in Katherine’s intelligence and strength than I do.
You want to know what my main criticism of the Church of Scientology is? That they have isolated me from my own daughter and made it impossible for me to maintain the close and loving relationship that both Katherine and I desire. That is my objection. How can I be “handled” on this objection? Easy. Grant Katherine her well-earned three week leave to see her family. Is that so hard?
I never, ever thought I would have to sacrifice my relationship with my daughter over religious differences. Many, many families across the world have differences with their choices of religions and political ideologies. A loving family does not let these differences impede their relationships with each other.
You, yourself, have denied publicly that Scientology disconnects families. In your press release of 14 January of this year, you stated that “…most family members of Scientologists are themselves not Scientologists. And yet, as any one of millions of Scientologists would have told Morton if he had asked, they maintain a loving relationship with their families. Indeed, the Church always counsels to mend any and every familial upset – whether between Scientologists or those of another faith.”
Nice words. A wonderful, politically correct sentiment. But the question is, Ms. Pouw, are you actually willing to stand by those words? Are you willing to put them into action? Are you, as a Scientologist, willing to factually practice what you so eloquently preach?
I am still waiting for my daughter’s arrival in Portland for the vacation that she and I have been promised.
The Church claims that its senior policy is to deliver what is promised.
At long last, will you?
Sincerely,
Susan Lentsch
PS: I am mailing a copy of this letter to my daughter so she can read and understand how I feel. I will be checking with her to make sure she personally received it.

Hopefully someone will start protesting the cults of Christianity, Mormonism and Islam too. Fundamental Christianity is trying to encroach on the life of all citizens, even not of that faith, Mormonism extorts 10% of all their followers earning and where do I start on Islam? As much as I despise Scientology, I don’t think there is much point in attacking only them if they are going to let all the other religions continue their own opressions.
I pity the people who don’t how to lead good and moral lives without religion. It’s weak.
