Sarah Palin Reads All Periodicals, Declares Alaska Not A Foreign Country, Scares Rappers With Dumb Names
I am all sorts of school-girl-giddy waiting for tonight’s debate. I will even be skipping “Supernatural” (on the CW – hello DVR) to watch! I guess you could say I have a special fondness for “glittering generalities” and a woman who reads not just some periodicals, but “all of ‘em, and any of ‘em” which most likely include, “100 Recipes For Moose Jerky,” “Really Big Guns Quarterly,” “Dinosaurs and Other Mythical Creatures,” and definitely “Family Circle.” I kid, I kid.
Well, no I don’t, but I do mean it in good fun. Poor Sarah Palin, it’s not bad enough the woman is being run through the grist mill of the media, who are now overcompensating for the wildly inappropriate ass-kissing they gave her after the RNC, and are now making up for it by forcing her to talk to the condescending and self-important Katie Couric, but now she has to debate the loquacious Senator Joe Biden. On top of all that, she has Puff Daddy Diddy von P Diddler making fun of her, as if a man who can’t even stick with one dumb name and punches strangers in the face while trying to steal their girlfriend has any room to talk. He’s right about one thing, get out and vote on Nov. 4, it’s you civic duty regardless of who you vote for.
Can we get back to the issues already? Seriously people, we have real problems facing us besides Sarah Palin’s inability to name one periodical she’s read in the last 44 years of her life (besides all of ‘em.) Hey, as long as she’s reading Glosslip, she’s getting all the news that fit to read.
But only if she sticks to k’s stuff. I wonder if Ms. Palin was too embarrassed to list the sources she reads? If Katie Couric had asked me that question, first I’d probably challenge her to an arm-wrestling competition, but then I’d have to list them.
I wonder if the National Enquirer, Star Magazine and In Style count as publications that shape one’s world view?

Sarah Palin did pretty well in the debate tonight sticking to what she knows best.
Not being able to name news sources was shocking given the fact that she majored in journalism.
I like her as a person, but just doesn’t have enough experience beyond her home state at this point in time to make her a serious candidate. If I were a Republican I’d look forward to her in 10-15 years in such a role.
She won’t get my vote given her right wing stance on so many social issues. I also don’t want to have a “six pack joe type” in the Whitehouse either to be honest but rather the best educated, socially developed, intelligent, thoughtful person in the country.
Being a hockey mom is great but it’s not an attribute that makes one idea for a Whitehouse job.

Well, it looks as if Palin has exceeded expectations during the debate. Of course, the only way she would not have exceeded expectations would have been to fall on the floor, drooling.
That said, Palin did not do as poorly as I expected, but her overuse of her “folksy” language was certainly off-putting. I’m bettin’ a lot of the folks in the red states are eating that up, though. Look, I like Mr. & Mrs. Six-Pack; I’m one of them. But I am not qualified to be POTUS or VPOTUS. The other Six-Packers aren’t either.
Finally, Mrs. Palin, as Governor of Alaska, makes OVER $80,000 PER YEAR. How many average Americans are in that pay bracket? She’s trying to come off as Josephine Six-Pack when she makes OVER $80,000 PER YEAR? And people are buying this? WTF?

I agree with both of your assessments of the debate. She did quite well, but the expectations were set pretty low by the media, which really wasn’t fair, but hardly unexpected. The folksy stuff very much annoyed me, and if that’s her target audience “Joe Six Pack” well that’s kind of scary. Isn’t our current president “Joe Six Pack”? And we all know what a great job he did.
If being a hockey mom who drinks a six-pack of Moosehead makes one qualified to be VP, well sign me up.
Although my kids play baseball. Country first I say!

i don’t understand why everyone jumped on palin about the news source thing…i think she didn’t want to give any endorsements or have a named source come out and bash her. what kind of question is that anyway?
i think she held her own at tonight’s debate, although i don’t think there was a clear-cut winner, just like i don’t think there was one last week. i believe most voters already have their minds made up anyway.

A correction to my previous comment. I was looking at old numbers, sorry.
Alaska Governor’s Salary $125,000
Husband’s Salary Approx. $100,000
Total Family Income – Somewhere around $225,000.
Yeah, that’s really “average” American.

I would be curious to know the income of the other nominees and their spouses.
It seems to me that nobody in Washington is really representative of the “average” American, salary-wise.

Mavericks don’t call themselves mavericks. That would be like Einstein calling himself a genius. She is a moron. Sorry. I don’t think she is charming or any of those things.

Well, I read a statistic in the NYT stating Biden is one of the least wealthiest Senators, worth approx. $325,000, including all assets. Still more than average American’s, but far less than the $150million Cindy and John McCain are stated to be worth, and Obama is said to have assets close to a $1million.

WAKE UP PEOPLE!

“i don’t understand why everyone jumped on palin about the news source thing…i think she didn’t want to give any endorsements or have a named source come out and bash her. what kind of question is that anyway?”
This is a very common question in the IT field when interviewing for a job. What blogs etc to you read to keep up on what’s current.
Palin said her responses to her terrible interviews were “an indication of being outside that Washington elite, outside of the media elite also.” This is very very true but holding the office of VP requires that one successfully interact with both Washington’s elite as well and the international media elite. Using that as an excuse for her failure is just an admittance to her inadequacy for the job she wishes to have in a few short months.
She’s not an unintelligent woman, but she’s obviously lead a life in a box when compared to the elite she needs to mingle freely with. She might one day make that transition but her even accepting this nomination shows she hasn’t a clue of what is really expected of this role.
Sometimes just being the little engine that could is not enough.
