Oh Snap! Britney Spears Disses Katie Holmes
You know, just when I start to really like Britney, she does something stupid. Like opens her mouth and makes words come out of it.
First, it was complaining that she is being “punished” for her actions over the past year or so. No, Brit, you had a mental breakdown, and you have a mental problem, and you need continued monitoring for a while. Hardly punishment and more like looking out for your well-being, because it seems that you still aren’t well enough yet to look out for yourself. But here’s her latest: In her new documentary about her life, she disses fellow celeb mom Katie Holmes:
In her new fly-on-the-wall documentary for MTV, Brit is caught during a candid moment shopping with her assistant. As she holds up a blouse, she says, “Look, this is very mommy.”
Her assistant replies, “It’s very ugly.”
Britney wrinkles her nose and laughs, “It is very Katie Holmes.”
I’ve been firmly on Brit’s side for a while now, but you know how you can support what somebody is going through without really liking them personally? Yeah, that’s kind of what I’m starting to feel about Brit.
Look, I’m not saying she should wear mom jeans and polyester print blouses and sensible shoes. I’m older than Brit and I still dress fashionably. But come on. Have you seen some of the questionable fashion choices Brit has worn out for the paps? I’ve got a folder dedicated to them. Don’t make me bust them out.
And since when is dressing like a mommy a bad thing? Just what look is “very mommy”? One where one’s breasts are underneath one’s shirt and one’s bottom is inside one’s trousers? One where a person has on underwear and doesn’t show it off? You can’t be on parade all the time, Brit. Too many people today equate “sexy” with “half-naked”. You can be a mom, dress like a decent person, and still be sexy, because sexy ain’t clothing.
Yes, Katie’s fashion is geared more towards comfort than clubbing. But even though she’s toned it down a bit (and honestly does dress a bit older than her age, I’d like to see her dress younger), she’s still a beautiful woman. Like Brit is, when she isn’t being nasty. Some things you just can’t blame on being bipolar.
And to me it says a lot about Brit’s continued state of mind if she equates the state of being or looking like a “mommy” with boing, ugly, and not-slutty. It makes me wonder just how ready she truly is to take on her mothering duties. Moms can be sexy, but true sexy don’t need to flaunt it.
Besides, Katie would so totally pwn Brit. Katie can have her husband Tom Cruise come out and point Tom’s Finger at her and scream at her how glib she is, while the best Britney can do is throw Cheetos.

No, it’s not a slow news day, it’s an insightful news day. I think you make a good point k, while all of us are celebrating Britney’s recovery, we are also not looking deeply enough at what still lay beneath the media facade. Deep down, Britney still has a lot of vitriol towards the world, and poking fun at Katie for being a modest person, is pretty snide. Besides, if Britney were smart, she’d keep herself mum on high up members of the CoS. Those whackjobs don’t play nice!

at least katie doesn’t show all her business off to the world. if i was spears i would keep my yap shut about other people’s clothing choices and my ex’s parenting skills. she really has no business saying anything about anyone else.

I think Katie is a beautiful girl, and except for very recently always looked great. In the past couple of months she’s looked very tired and unhappy but who wouldn’t considering who she’s married to.
She seems like a genuinely nice person and Spears has no room to criticize anyone on their choice of clothing. She should stick to singing, no wait, scratch that.

Wow, talk about overanalyzing much.
That was NOT a hurtfull comment, she is just stating that it’s a look Katie would wear, her ASSISTANT called it ugly.
Gosh, give the girl a break, she has NEVER EVER made a hurtfull comment about another celebrity and since you people are so up to date with the gossip you would know that.
Wow, I thought people would be over the dissing of Spears this year, I guess not.

Dawn and k go shopping. k holds up an ensemble consisting of a ripped pair of fishnet stockings, bloodstained panties, and a stained green tank top. “Look, this is very slutty.”
Dawn replies, “It’s very ugly.”
k wrinkles her nose and says, “It’s very Britney.”
But we aren’t being mean or catty or anything, just saying that is an ensemble Britney would wear. That’s all.
Guess anything negative about Brit is a diss. I’ll remember that.

btw…I’ve been advocating that somebody get Britney some intensive help for over a year now. I’m very happy that she appears to be getting her life back in order and her mental health straightened out. I was one of the first bloggers to recognize that she was suffering from a mental illness and that she desperately needed a medical intervention.
However, that doesn’t mean she’s one of my favorite people nor do I think she’s overly talented. But I hate to see her self-destruct as a human being. You can feel both ways about a person. A negative comment about a snarky opinion voiced by her does NOT mean I hate Brit nor does it signify that I’m “dissing” or somehow hating on her. It just is not that black and white.
