The Fort Harrison Hotel, Where Scientologists Check In… But Minds and Wallets Check Out

fortharrison

The Fort Harrison Hotel in Clearwater, Florida was established in 1926. Its Mediterranean Revival style with marble floors and exquisite furnishings made it Clearwater’s most luxurious hotel back in its day. Rich with history, the Fort Harrison survived the Great Depression and World War II.

Eventually it was repurchased by Jack Tar Hotels in 1965, and was called the New Fort Harrison Hotel and this is where the Rolling Stones wrote “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction”. Little did the Stones know back then, how those lyrics would ring so true today for its current occupants.

The hotel fell in disrepair in the 1970’s, and in typical Scientology style, the cult type skulked into town in 1975 under the name of the United Churches of Florida and snatched it up. Unethical? Maybe, but considering “Scientologists are some of the most ethical people on the planet” as stated by founder L. Ron Hubbard, what did you expect?

The Fort Harrison hotel is the spiritual headquarters for Scientologists. It supplies lodging, courses and auditing for those who wish to climb the upper levels to what is referred to as Scientology’s “Bridge To Total Freedom”, or what we educated people refer to as the “Bridge To Total Bankruptcy.” It also houses Scientology’s Sea Org members and staff. The Sea Org is Scientology’s para military branch which is alleged to engage a slave labor force and is currently at the center of a major lawsuit brought by ex-member Marc Headley.

Today after a year of renovation the 82-year old Fort Harrison had a 40 million dollar make over. It brags of marble floors from Spain gold leaf moldings, fine rugs imported from South Africa, three restaurants and a Crystal ballroom.

Interestingly, Scientology has announced that the hotels three restaurants and the grand ballroom will be closed to the public. This contradicts earlier claims by Scientology officials during construction:

crystalballroom

Church staffers made thousands of custom wood and plaster moldings at Scientology’s local wood mill and workshop.

The hotel has three restaurants — none of which will be open to the public, despite what the church previously said. The ballroom won’t be rented out for weddings either.

And the hotel won’t be hiring because it is staffed by members of the Sea Org, the legion of uniformed church staffers who dedicate their lives to Scientology.

Members of the general public can walk into the lobby for a look, but ultimately this hotel is for Scientologists only.

“This is a religious retreat,” Davis said. “That isn’t to say that people can’t come in and look at the beautiful building. It’s open to the community, but it’s not open for business.”

Did you get that? So the “church” got a go ahead to proceed with these extensive renovations on this hotel, which is central to the Clearwater downtown area, but they didn’t hire any outside contractors and have no plans to hire anyone outside to work at the hotel AND the hotel is not open for use by the community. BUT, the public IS welcome to come in and look around. I’ll bet they leave with a lovely parting gift: Scientology pamphlets and a coupon for a free “personality test.”

Unbelievable. Audacious. Outrageous.

This hotel is for Scientologists only, a group which has taken over this town like some kind of creepy, free-will sucking zombies. As we mentioned earlier in the article, the town of Clearwater was initially skeptical about the new arrivals when they bought the hotel under false pretenses back in the 70’s. A little research on Clearwater and Scientology will yield a slowly turning tide of acceptance towards these strange outsiders, which may have more to do with the large influx of Scientologists to the town, than any real understanding of the group’s purpose or intentions. More from the SPTimes article:

presidential-suite

Built in 1927 as Clearwater’s first skyscraper, the hotel was a local focal point for decades. It was vacant by the time Scientology covertly bought it under an assumed name in 1975, sparking years of hostility between the church and the city.

The church has gained greater acceptance over the last 15 years or so, to the point where many local bigwigs felt comfortable attending a reception at the hotel Saturday night. But the church’s own research a few years ago found that many in the area still don’t know much about Scientology and view it as a strange cult.

To renovate the Fort Harrison, the church gutted it, tearing out plumbing, wiring, floors, walls, elevators and unsightly window air-conditioning units.

Now the redesigned lobby opens up to the third floor, where a pedestrian bridge crosses Fort Harrison Avenue to the unfinished Flag Building. A new marble staircase leads up there.

The Crystal Ballroom on the 10th and 11th floors, once a fashionable spot for high school proms, has been completely rebuilt and its patterned wooden floor restored, said Bob Wright, a Scientology staffer overseeing construction.

Church staffers made thousands of custom wood and plaster moldings at Scientology’s local wood mill and workshop.

That’s a fascinating bit of insight. Scientology did a study to determine people’s perceptions of their cult in Clearwater and found most people still consider them a strange cult. That’s a pretty clear signal that something isn’t right with a group if after 15 years of essentially taking over a town, your neighbors still eye you with suspicious. Also noteworthy is the extent of the renovations. That much skilled labor would cost millions upon millions, but when you factor in the expensive materials used, including gold-leafed moldings, marble floors, just to name a few, the $40million spent seems far too little.

Chalk that up to the slave labor force supplied by the Sea Org members who are paid a fraction of what a contractor would earn, and the 100 hours+ a week worked by each individual explains why the building was renovated so quickly. Not so for the huge monstrosity which sits directly across from the Fort Harrison and also a Scientology owned structure, the “Super Power Building.”

Construction on the Flag Building began in 1999, and it was supposed to open in 2002. Work stopped in 2003 and has been at a standstill ever since.

One of the county’s largest buildings, it is stuccoed, trimmed and painted on the outside, but empty on the inside. A big hole in the building’s northwest corner draws curious glances from drivers on Alt. U.S. 19.

Clearwater officials get asked about it all the time.

One would think this kind of unfinished construction would be a major sticking point with city officials. Who wants this kind of eye-sore at the center of their business district? It hasn’t gone unnoticed by residents or those issuing code violations:

tb-superpower

The “Super Power” building, is a seven-story, 380,000-square-foot empty shell that encompasses a whole city block. The church gets fined $250 a day for not bringing it up to code, and the fines now total $245,000.

Numerous promises to finish the building have come and gone, but church officials insist that this time it really is next on their to-do list. At this point, church architects and Clearwater building officials say they’re going over some final details.

“We’re ready,” said Scientology spokesman Tommy Davis. “All the money has been put aside, and the plans are in place. As soon as we get the go-ahead from the city, we’ll begin.”

Balancing the needs of the city, its residents and those visiting must be a genuine challenge for those charged with operation the city and they know that people have questions, unfortunately there are very few straight answers from Scientology officials:

“People say, ‘My gosh, why is it taking so long?’ The public doesn’t understand the church’s sense of priorities — why they would leave such a large building unfinished for an unusual amount of time,” said City Manager Bill Horne.

“We look forward to them getting it complete,” said Mayor Frank Hibbard.

And what about all those fines being imposed at $250 a day?

When it’s finally finished, the city’s code enforcement board will review the fines and decide whether to forgive any.

City officials get asked why they’re not taking harsher measures. Horne said the city treats the church like any other landowner: “Our building codes and state statutes give property owners quite a bit of leeway to get a structure completed.”

Forgive my skepticism, but I’ll bet Scientology has other ways of persuading city officials to see things their way.

So what is the Super Power Building supposed to do anyway?

The church says the Flag Building will eventually house the bulk of Scientology’s religious services in Clearwater. It will have about 300 rooms for Scientology’s core practice of “auditing.”

The building is nicknamed “Super Power” because it will be the only place in the world where a highly classified Scientology program called Super Power will be offered. Its upper floors will house special equipment that church officials say is designed to heighten one’s perceptions. The specifics are secret; like much of Scientology training, details aren’t revealed until one pays to take the course.

Wright said the building has cost about $40 million so far, and the church expects to spend $50 million finishing its elaborate interior. He leafed through 800 sheets of construction drawings for it. “It’s been planned to within an inch of its life,” he said.

That’s the watered down version, here’s what Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard has to say about the function and purpose of the Super Power Building:

“A super fantastic, but confidential series of rundowns that can be done on anybody whether Dn [Dianetics] Clear or not that puts the person into fantastic shape unleashing Super Power of a thetan. This means that puts Scientologists into a new realm of ability enabling them to create a new world. It puts world Clearing within reach of the future. This is a parallel rundown to Power in Saint Hills which is taken by the Dn Clear. It consists of 12 separate high power rundowns which are brand new and enter realms of the tech never before approached. Power is still very much in use on the Grade Chart but is for those who didn’t go Clear on Dn.

Confused yet? Me too, so fortunately we have some additional insight about what will actually (supposedly) go down in the Super:

According to the Church of Scientology, the building will contain specially developed equipment which “expand[s] on technology developed by NASA to train astronauts” designed to exercise and enhance an individual’s 57 “perceptics” (senses). These machines will include such things as an antigravity simulator, a gyroscope-like apparatus that spins a person around while blindfolded to improve perception of compass direction, and a video screen that moves forward and backward while flashing images to hone a viewer’s ability to identify subliminal messages.

Oh really? Don’t sprain your eyeballs on that one, this is typical Scientology b.s. After spending $350,000 dollars on Scientology courses, this basically certifies you to fly, travel to distant reaches of the universe with your mind, cure all illness and read people’s minds. I wish this was a joke, but it’s not. In fact, in our second installment in this feature we will talk about the truth horrors of the Fort Harrison: the mysterious deaths which have continued to haunt those marbled, gold-adorned halls.

  1. Hopefully, the astronaut equipment will get the Cruiser closer to outer space, than couch altitude.

It seems as though when their plans for takeover of education, business, medicine and government aren’t going too well, space would be the next scientological frontier.

I wish them the best with it and hope they have plans to send a celebutard-filled spacecraft to Mars at the earliest opportunity. Hubbard was “almost hit by a train on Venus” you know.

  3. Your first picture is not the Ft. Harrison but the Super Power Building.

For a one-lifer (person brainwashed into thinking he lives one life time) methods to increase one’s abilities and regain memories from before the present body’s life are contradictory to the materialism of this society that a person is just a sack of chemicals on two legs, monitored by 2.5 pounds of brain matter. (What a disgusting, degrading and corruptive message. Utterly false, but keeps those in power — in power and wealthy.)

After hundreds of years — having created the Dark Ages and torturing “non-believers” who questionned the “the sun revolves around the earth, which is the center of the universe” — the Vatican finally went on record a few months ago and stated God could have created life on other planets.

The Milky Way (where our solar system is located) is one galaxy amongst thousands. There are countless billions of planets. To think earth is the only one with technologically advanced societies is beneath stupidity – it is the unquestioning blindness of the brainwashed.

  7. Another fantastic piece from queen. Ironically there was an ad on one of my city’s local station last night encouraging people to visit “the beautiful beaches of Clearwater”. Yeah. Right. What do you think the tourism situation is in that locale these days?

Who would actually choose to visit a city full of “thetans” with “fixed, dedicated stares” pressuring you to take a bogus “personality” test every block or so?

I can’t even type “Super Powers” without laughing. That anyone could be gullible enough to not see this as mere Hubbard quackery is mind-boggling.

  9. When my retired parents lived in Central Florida, they and their neighbors used to drive around Clearwater to avoid it, because the desolation of downtown Clearwater eight years after the Scientology takeover gave everyone the creeps. Because I was curious, my father drove me there once when I was visiting and it was like a ghost town.

They idea that people would vacation there is even more ridiculous. Would it be so they could look at the big hotel that is not open to the public. Or, would it be to be weirded out by all the super-empowered zombies who consider themselves to be there to save the planet.

  11. So why do you present a photograph of a building that is NOT the Fort Harrison Hotel as the headline, and label it The Fort Harrison Hotel? That is a photograph of the Super Power Building.

  13. Scientology goes around buying up whatever it can. They purchase historical buildings for a reason. They want to ALWAYS look like they have been in a town forever, and look like they are constantly doing well and expnading. They will go to any lengths to do this.
The Nazis where in the same habit of purhasing historical buildings for the same reason.

They will open new “orgs” and spend as much of their members money as possible to try to show that they are successful. The Passadena Ca. org that Tommyboy dumped a ton of cash into to renovate has been taken over by bees. It is EMPTY.

Another new org just opened in Dallas and Nashville. Dont’ forget it’s the member’s money foolishly being donated to open these orgs, so although I am sure they would love it if the orgs would stay “busy” and succeed, but if they don’t… they will just move on, buy another building, collect “donations” from their members and do it all over again.

The list of empty buildings that Scientology owns is mounting. And for the majority of them they are TAX FREE by the way.
They also rent their vacant buildings out to other non religious businesses. So towns should check if the buildings in their towns are owned by Scientology…. if taxes are being paid on them if they are now rented out to a non religious business.

It’s dispicable, and it should be stopped.
    Speak out!

  19. UPDATE:

Thanks for correcting the photo. FYI: That’s nn old photo before the $40 million upgrade. To see the video that was posted as part of an article published by the St. Petersburg Times:
    http://www.tampabay.com/video/?v=17158149001&p=

(The Scientology website from which your photo was taken needs to be updated, but I guess that has a lower priority related to the massive amount of production at Golden Era Studios that just translated into an additional 50 languages (total now 65 languages) 8 of L Ron Hubbard’s basic books and lecture series.)

Something your article did not mention is that in addition to the Ft. Harrison, during the same 2008-2009 period another building (125,000 sq ft) was redone located three blocks from the Ft. Harrison.

Those two needed to be completed before the Super Power building could be worked on.

When that’s completed, the third stage is building on an adjacent city block owned by the Church of Scientology a state of the art theater complex that will seat 5,000 for local and internatinally televised Scientology events, budgeted at (per Church literature I read) at approx $50 million.

  21. CORRECTION

The other building to which I referred is the Oak Cove, and that’s a 13 story building, and I believe it’s closer to 200,000 square feet.

The St. Petersburg Times’s article (Mlast year (I just read it in searching for info on the Oak Cove) that summarizes the building programs — and does give additional data as to how much the Church of Scientology is/will pay in taxes for properties that are hotels and facilities that are not used for its religious services.

The link to the Times article is:

This is the last posting I’ll do for this article.
    G’bye.

  23. You know that $cientology has the city government of Clearwater totally in its pockets when the government allows the Stupor Power building to remain unfinished so many years later. Obviously the city doesn’t give a rat’s ass that this building is so much a symbol of a dying and decaying downtown that it won’t pressure the cult to finish it up.

As for $cn, it uses Stupor Power as a fundraising point. As a friend of mine points out, “It’s NEVER getting finished. If it got finished, $cn would have to deliver on Super Power and that’s not going to happen.”

Of course, $cn doesn’t deliver on “Clear” and the OT Levels either. So what else is new?

  29. Dear Queen,
1- The staff of Churches of Scientology is made by contracted staff members who are Scientologists. They all live in the local area! Any person from Clerwater can join the Sea Organization and work in these buildings!
2-During the years that “nothing was done” this was done
a- Purchasing the Oak Cove building
    b- Totally renewing it
c- Movig all the activities from the Fort Harrison the the Oak Cove (13 Floors)
d- Totally Renewing the Fort Harrison
e- Building and finishing a big parking lot (3 floors for about 500 cars, near the Super Power building
f- Building and finishing the central heating and cooling building

The next step is finishing the Super Power Building….

This is without taking into consideration all he res that happened in other buildings and spaces….

  31. Scientology has all the taste in architecture of Hitler. The Stupid Powerz building looks as blockish and ugly, as if it were stolen from the plans Hitler had for a new Berlin. They need to build a building in the shape of a spaceship, or like a giant Xenu or something.

Perhaps it is more appropriate though, that it looks like an asylum, or some kind of totalitarian nightmare. In this decade, you have to be quite insane, to take up Scientology, just to see if it “works for you” without knowing a thing about its history or the history of its founder, or its nutty plans for world domination.

Please wash my brain so I’ll believe in a bunch of absurd super powers that don’t exist and that I’m here to save the planet and command others to obey me.

  33. Monument

The International Landlord Office was located at the Int Base. The Int Landlord office were the guys responsible for making sure that every single org in the world was in a building that was correct for their size, for their location and that the building was properly designed and set up based on LRH policies.

The Landlord Office had a photo binder for every single organization that had detailed pictures of anything and everything. In the front of the binder was a picture of the outside of the building and then interior rooms, walls, furniture, toilets, sinks, broken floor tiles, you name it, they had it.

Now there were maybe 10 people in the landlord office. A few designers, a few people that did plans, a few logistics people, some people that went around and ran individual International Renovations projects and the Int Landlord. This post – Int Landlord – was the most frequented post in the entire joint. I think that there would be a new Int Landlord about once a year. I myself can remember at least 7 of them, and I did not have much interaction with them for several years of my tenure at the Int Base.

My initial involvement with the Int Landlord office would have been when I helped build their offices as part of the weekly all-hands renovations in 1990. The Landlord Office is located in what used to be a gas station at the Int Base. Located adjacent to the main highway that runs through the property, the landlord office was in the “garage” or “Estates” building as it would later be named.

Later in 1993, I would spend quite a bit of time in the Landlord Office drawing up plans for one of their biggest organizations in Europe, AOSH EU. This was the Advanced Organization & Saint Hill Europe. This building would be the first to have a new type of auditing session surveillance system installed in all of its rooms. We were supposed to install a microphone and two tiny covert cameras in every single room where auditing was to take place. These cameras and microphone would then feed into several central locations where they could be both viewed and recorded. Any number of people would then be able to watch these sessions live or at their later convenience.

I had actually installed this same system in ASHO in LA already as well as other audio visual systems there and at other organizations in the LA area.

Either way, the Danish building, having been built many years earlier was almost entirely made up of solid brick walls, so planning in hundreds of cameras and microphone wiring was no small task. It took many weeks and many more months to execute.

While I was working in the Landlord Office I became very familiar with one of the biggest projects that they had been working on. It was the new Flag Building. This was to be the new facility where the new Super Power would be delivered across the street from the Fort Harrison Hotel. The building was HUGE. It was six stories high but entirely covered with glass panels. It looked nothing like the Fort Harrison Hotel at all. They actually had a full scale model of the building built and on display in the office. It was very detailed and even had tiny little cars driving down Fort Harrison and people on the sidewalks.

I was asked to look at the building as they would need to install the same camera and mic systems in that building as well. It was huge and had hundreds and hundreds of auditing rooms. I said that that would be a lot of money for that kind of stuff. “We spent over $50,000 having this model made.” One of the landlord staff told me, “I think we will be able to afford the cameras with the millions of dollars that are being raised to build this building.”

    Super Power – 1995

There were two girls that worked at the base in the Qualification Division of Gold. Katie and Melissa. Both Katie and Melissa shared the same last name of Feshbach. They were not sisters, but cousins and both daughters of the famed Feshbach brothers. The Feshbach brothers were famous within Scientology because they were rich. Not only were they rich, but they were still rich after giving millions of their dollars to Scientology. So they were in fact, crazy rich.

Katie and Melissa were both obviously not hurting cash wise. Most of us would live week to week on our $35 weekly paycheck. Not Katie or Melissa. My wife was also in the Qualification Division of Gold and worked with Katie and Melissa on a regular basis. When Katie got married to a good friend of mine, my wife and I shared an apartment with Katie and her husband Josh.

Melissa had a car, but had not done Car School, so I frequently would get to drive her car whenever I needed, in exchange for being her driver when she needed it. It was a very fair deal and her new car was in no way a detriment to me.

Well at one point Katie and Melissa had found out that their dads and their uncle were all coming up to the base! This was pretty much unheard of. Public Scientologists coming to the Int Base? Only movie stars or musicians would normally come up here but not stock market short sellers! So sure enough, Joe, Matt and Kurt Feshbach would end up coming to the base for several weeks.

Then we found out why. They were all going to get Super Power! Supposedly Dave Miscavige had personally invited them to come and get the highly confidential level as part of a handling program that was being done with them.

The Super Power Rundown had been being done at the Int Base for years. It was a pilot program. Something LRH had written up in the late 1970’s but that had never been released. It was sort of like the Star Wars movies. LRH had envisioned the processes, but the earth technology did not exist to do what he had laid out. But still, the pilots continued and staff were being audited on Super Power. There were very few Int Base staff that were trained on all of the writings that LRH had done on Super Power and they were the only ones who could audit it. And in order to audit on Super Power you had to yourself have been audited on Super Power. It was like the chicken and egg problem. The rundowns on Super Power were designed to hone in all 57 perceptics as written up by LRH. Here are the perceptics:

    1. Time
    2. Sight
    3. Taste
    4. Color
    5. Depth
    6. Solidity (barriers)
    7. Relative sizes (external)
    8. Sound
    9. Pitch
    10. Tone
    11. Volume
    12. Rhythm
    13. Smell
    14. Touch (pressure, friction, heat or cold and oiliness)
    15. Personal emotion
    16. Endocrine states
    17. Awareness of awareness
    18. Personal size
    19. Organic sensation (including hunger)
    20. Heartbeat
    21. Blood circulation
    22. Cellular and bacterial position
    23. Gravitic (self and other weights)
    24. Motion of self
    25. Motion (exterior)
    26. Body position
    27. Joint position
    28. Internal temperature
    29. External temperature
    30. Balance
    31. Muscular tension
    32. Saline content of self (body)
    33. Fields/magnetic
    34. Time track motion
    35. Physical energy (personal weariness, etc.)
    36. Self-determinism
    37. Moisture (self)
    38. Sound direction
    39. Emotional state of other organs
    40. Personal position on the tone scale*
    41. Affinity (self and others)
    42. Communication (self and others)
    43. Reality (self and others)
    44. Emotional state of groups
    45. Compass direction
    46. Level of consciousness
    47. Pain
    48. Perception of conclusions (past and present)
    49. Perception of computation (past and present)
    50. Perception of imagination (past and present)
    51. Perception of having perceived (past and present)
    52. Awareness of not knowing
    53. Awareness of importance, unimportance
    54. Awareness of others
    55. Awareness of location and placement (masses, spaces and location itself)
    56. Perception of appetite
    57. Kinesthesia

Some of these perceptics had no way of being trained or even tested. The processes for each of these were devised based on what the staff in the LRH Technical Research & Compilations area thought would work best. These were then written up for the auditors that were doing the Super Power Pilot program and they wrote up whether or not they “worked” or what happened instead.

I remember seeing one of the Feshbach brothers on the “Par Course” one day with his auditor, Gelda Mithoff. The Par Course was an exercise course at the Int Base that had various obstacles and sand pits off to the side of the track where one could work out and check one’s heart rate. He was walking across one of the wood balance beams. Hmmmm? Could he have been perfecting the perceptic of “balance” Maybe? He could have been doing a whole series of them. If he fell down at any point during the course they could switch over to the “Pain” perceptic. Anyway, that is where they apparently did a bulk of the perceptics with the Feshbach brothers.

After a few weeks and they were all “completed” on the pilot rundowns, the Feshbachs donated at least 4 million dollars between the brothers and their families to the Super Power Building.

Now here are a few interesting facts about the Super Power program at the Int Base and its results. Many of the base staff that had been through Super Power, were no longer there. They had blown or got kicked out and declared Suppressive Persons. According to one staff member that was part of the pilot program, this was a known problem with the pilot. A large amount of the people that had done both Super Power Rundowns and The Cause Resurgence Rundown were no longer at the Int Base. There was very little written up by LRH on what to do on the rundowns. He said that the perceptics needed to be trained and tested. There was no direction or writing on how to do this. This was one of the biggest blocks to Super Power getting done. No one on staff was qualified to figure this out. Some of this stuff was highly technical and complicated feats on engineering and design work would have to be done.

The Super Power building had been announced in 1991that it would be built and after 5 years they had not been able to get that designed! How would they design and build and test 57 perceptics systems that could be installed and used at the Int base and then perfected and reinstalled at the new Super Power building? Discussions were had as to how they could properly pilot the Super Power Rundowns in order to know how to build the building in Florida. Would they have to build all of the perceptics systems at Int BEFORE the building could be properly designed? This was a huge situation that needed to be addressed. Not only did it need to be worked on, but it had to be worked on by people that were not already working on some other aspect of Super Power as then that would come to a screeching halt.

Dave Miscavige came up with the solution. Who within the Scientology organization structure had designed and built things that were not already figured out by others? CST. The Church of Spiritual Technology were the organization that were responsible for designing and building the secret underground bunkers in California and New Mexico. They were the ones that had figured out how to put all LRH’s writings onto titanium plates and gold records. They had also been able to do all this with an unlimited amount of funds provided by Authored Services Inc. These funds were primarily from royalties of fiction & non-fiction book sales, limited edition artwork, as well public donations for “Preservation of the Tech”. Russ Bellin, the Commanding Officer of CST was the driving force in getting these things done.

Russ and his crew were brought in and briefed on what was needed. They had to work fast as the new Super Power building needed to be designed around what they were going to ultimately come up with in terms of the designs for the individual perceptics.

After over 20 years of pilots on Super Power Rundowns, they had never done what had been laid out by LRH. When CST were done testing and devising the perceptics devices, pilots could actually be done correctly for the first time. But when would this start?

    2003 – Cine Castle

The Cine Sec Gold, Lisa Allen came to see me in the Cine Castle. Russ Bellin and several CST staff needed to set up a perceptic device for testing at the Cine Castle. I was the Pre Production Director over the Cine Castle and anything that needed to be set up in it as I had the Sets and Props Crew under me as well as the man power to build and move stuff.

Russ Bellin was going to meet with us along with some of his CST staff. We met in the main Studio. Tom Willis and Tom Vorm, both very tall CST staff came and saw us with Russ Bellin. Russ Bellin did all of the talking. He filled us in on what was going to happen. For one of the upcoming Freewinds Events for the OT 8’s, we needed to show some of the new perceptics devices in order to get more donations for the Super Power project. Dave Miscavige had directed Russ Bellin to set up and shoot video footage of a few of these devices.

The ones we would be setting up would be the “Orbitron” and the “Zero Gravity Rig”. The Orbitron was your basic personal Gyro Spin rig that you can get on at the high end gyms with one small added detail. It was motorized and had a joystick installed on it so that you could adjust your spin and axis in any direction while riding it. If there was a perceptic that had to do with perception of puke leaving your mouth, this was the rig to test that. I am cool with roller coasters, but this thing was like the craziest roller coaster you have ever been on – on crack. It had metal diamond plate panels on every flat surface imaginable.

The next perceptic rig was pretty tame compared to the Barfitron. It was two 18 foot high set of wires trusses that supported a personal harness over a span of about 20 feet. With a set of weights matched to the persons own body weight, you could walk with the apparency of having no gravity whatsoever. If you put a small push against the ground with your foot while in the harness, you would raise several feet into the air. This rig, while cool, was insanely loud. There was a water vacuum that was being used to regulate the weight balance and motors and pumps all grinding away while the person bounced around in the rig. It also had quite a few moving wires and parts that were sensitive to movement.

When the CST crew showed up with the two rigs for us to shoot, they brought along the guy that helped them build these things. The guy was very cool and had a very tricked out truck with metal diamond plates on pretty much every surface possible. I was starting to see where the design criteria was coming from for these perceptic rigs. After setting up the rigs and talking with him a bit, it was clear he was just an engineer that worked out of his own shop and was the local guy that CST had found to work on their stuff. I gathered he was from Running Springs or a nearby town local to them.

While these rigs seemed fine for a small shoot to pump some people up and get them to dump more money down for the Super Power building, I myself could not fathom how they would be perfecting these to install in a building for regular and constant use by paying public. Just think about how often roller coasters break down and people get hurt. Now just pretend that Billy Bob down the street designed and built the roller coaster. That was what these rigs were. They were home grown projects that had a lot of money behind them.

After we had set up the rigs and shot the footage. Dave Miscavige thought he would show off all the work his CST people had done and started bringing more and more perceptics rigs to the Int Base for people to see and try out. He actually had many of these set up in his newly built 70 million dollar RTC “Building 50”. Funny enough, the 70 million dollar RTC building went from design to built in 4-5 years. That included it being redone on interior work several times and having a lot of very expensive furniture, but still it got done in ¼ the time as the Super Power building! Once the perceptics were setup, Dave would show us these himself and compare them to what was done before over the past 20 years.

There was the Smell perceptic. Hundreds and hundreds of vials of distinct smells that did not evaporate. You name it, bananas, peppermint, sunflowers, any smell that you can think of, they had it in a vial. There were rows and rows of vials and each one had a number on it. Some of the smells were very similar like, oranges, tangerines, orange peel, orange juice, you had to tell the difference and until you could name each and every one correctly, you did not finish this perceptic.

Dave Miscavige said that before CST had made and designed the perceptic devices, the smell perceptic was done using plates of oranges, apples, lemons and bananas. You could have done the old smell perceptic with a hotel breakfast cart! So that is how the Feshbachs got through the smell perceptic.

We saw a Balance rig. It was a small diamond plate platform about 3 feet wide that had a small handle bar that came up from the floor and had a three places where you could grab with your hand. You would stand on the platform and it would slightly adjust its pitch randomly to try and get you to fall off. If you grabbed the handles it would shut off and default the platform back to its flat position. Ray Mithoff got on the machine and Russ Bellin turned it on. Before it could even really start to change its pitch, Ray lost his balance and grabbed the handles. This was the guy who had been auditing others on Super Power for 20 years and was the foremost expert on the Int Base about Super Power!

Even I lasted around 15 seconds before grabbing the handle on my first go!

While we thought this “show and tell” was very interesting, Dave Miscavige had another reason for showing us all this stuff.

One morning he called us all into the main conference room in Building 50. We all knew that this would be one of those 6 hour meetings here he told us why we had all been responsible for keeping this project stalled. He explained that CST had spent many years and many millions of dollars perfecting the perceptic devices for the new Super Power building. Even with that He did not think that that would get us any closer to opening the new building. Why?

START OF MEETING: The entire Super Power building as redesigned and partially built, was having to be redesigned again to properly fit the new perceptics and even that was a guess as none of the rundowns had been delivered with these devices, they had just been worked out how they would work on paper. They had not been tested or piloted with people and auditing. He also reminded us that the new designs also meant that all the money that the Landlord office spent on the original “Death Star” Super Power Building design had to be scrapped and the new design would match the Fort Harrison more. That was millions of dollars wasted on the old plans, designs, models etc.

Now here was the real clincher. There was nobody to do any of the work that was needed to get Super Power ready.

Who was going to do these pilots? The Int Base Staff were all out ethics criminals and could not get case gain. That had been the problem all along, you cannot get standard results on people that are out ethics. But it was a confidential program that needed to be done at the Int Base.

So after the pilot Super Power Rundowns were done on this mysterious group of people that we don’t have, who is going to write up the processes and codify how they get delivered? Someone has to write up the Course pack that each person receiving the rundowns studies. Someone has to write a Super Power Supervisor Course Pack. A Super Power C/S Course Pack has to be written up and checksheets have to be written up for all of these above packs.

The packs have to be designed, printed, and then they have to be dummy run in conjunction with the actual devices and how the building is laid out.

How can you have multiple people doing the rundown at the same time. Are people going to be stuck on one perceptics more than others, does there need to be multiple rooms for some perceptic and fewer of others? These are all questions that have been unanswered for years and will remain unanswered for many more years, because no one is trying to work out the answers.

The whole reason that Flag was being streamlined in the mid-90’s was to increase the numbers of new L’s Auditors. L’s were the single largest source of Income in all of Scientology services. That was the reason GAT came about. It was an effort to make a machine for creating L’s auditors faster than had ever been done before. More L’s Auditors would equal more money being made. If it could work for L’s auditor’s, all tech should be trained that way.

And then, of course there is the CRRD (Cause Resurgence RunDown) or Running Program. This has been being piloted as long as Super Power and it is not worked out.

(Author note: Hundreds of people at the Int Base have the running program. It was a very simple program. A person would run around a dirt track until they were physically exhausted and could run no longer. They would be allowed to come inside a small area with couches it and rest. As soon as they were rested, they were instructed to go outside and run again. When I say run, I do not mean walk fast. I mean run like you are being chased run. You would do this non-stop for at least 5 hours per day. That was the absolute minimum hours the program could be done daily. Most people doing the program were asked to go for a full 10 hours daily. The length of the rundown was different for every person. I myself took 2-3 months to complete the program. The last day I was on the program, I ran for 6 hours without stopping. I did the pilot version of the rundown. All of the materials I read while doing the pilot rundown were written in the early 1980’s.)

The Running Program was being done before the Int Base even existed. It can only be done be the most physically fit people, but even they have injuries on this program. It also has to be done at least 5-10 hours per day and sometimes it takes several months. How do we deliver this to the public? Also there is the part where a large percentage of the people that do this program eventually blow or get declared SP. Why is that? What is being done wrong?

And PC, Supervisor, C/S packs and checksheets will also have to be drawn up for the Running program and people will have to be trained and gotten through it BEFORE The building is opened so that they can be in place before that.

Super Power and the Running Program are not the only things that needs to be released:

We still have all of the Basics Books and Lectures.

The new Mark VIII Ultra E-Meter – 30,000 already produced and sitting in warehouse in Los Angeles. Only cost $40 each to make but we will still sell them for over $3000. Will not require being sent in for service. Can be updated over the Internet. All public will be made to buy two and we should be able to sell out in first year. We only ever made 30,000 Mark VII’s so we know there are at least that many people that need the new E-Meter.

New E-Meter Books – new meter will require all these books being re-done.

New Grades – with new meter we can then re-release the Grades that were incorrectly modified and made 10 times longer than they were supposed to be.

KTL and LOC have to be redone. There is not supposed to be the huge book with the million words to look up. That was created by Ray Mithoff and Sue Koon.

Does the Briefing Course get released on CD? All those 350 lectures have to be re-edited and checked, transcripts have to be re-done. Packaging has to be redone.

Do the L’s get fixed? The issues being used are BTB’s written by David Mayo. How do we fix these as they are the best money maker, but not written by LRH? How do we solve this?

Any auditor courses that have references to the meter have to be updated. All of these things affect each other. You cannot change one without changing another. If you release one thing you might have to release four other things as well.

These are the things that have to be figured out. MEETING END

Dave Miscavige then spent 2 more hours telling us how he was the only one who could do any of the above things and how he himself had to re-do all of the new Basics books himself, he had to re do the PTS Course himself, he had to do all of GAT himself with a few people working directly for him. Then after all that he had to re-do the policies himself and will inevitably have to redo all the bulletins and new Tech Volumes himself. Basically everything that has not been redone in the last few years will ALL have to be redone, as there will be so many new things that the old things will not match up at all and won’t make sense in some cases or will just flat out contradict each other.

The meeting went until about 1 AM and we all went back to our work areas. Of course, I left out all of the name calling, people getting smacked by Dave, sentences laced with vulgar profanities and Dave Miscavige sending people out of the meeting because he no longer wanted to “look at their faces” while talking.

You may wonder how I could sit and write this in such detail. Well seeing as this exact same meeting happened at least 30 times in some form or another over several years, I pretty much remember it like it just happened earlier today. More or less the same people were there and pretty much the same things were gone over as no one was doing anything on any of these things as Dave had told us on hundreds of occasions that he was the only one who could do these things and any work done by someone other than him was uniformly rejected, why bother?

Every so often, one of the hundreds of things he had talked about would finally get done and it would a single thing that we would no longer have to hear about. Even sometimes that thing we would hear about as later on Dave would decide that it was now flawed based on some new thing he had decided should be a certain way. Like a book that went with a certain set of lectures and it was mistakenly pair with the wrong set when rereleased.

One would think that a Book Editor would have to have certain skills needed to edit a book. Well that being the case, can you imagine Mike Rinder editing an LRH book while getting no sleep? How about Ray Mithoff, the same guy that was Declared a Suppressive Person by Dave Miscavige in the year 2000 for the Out-tech on KTL and LOC? What about an Audio Mixer, Rick Cruzen, his sole resume quality that got him assigned as being able to edit LRH’s books was that
was the only person on the entire Int Base that had read all of the LRH books – while on the RPF for several years! All of these individuals were editing LRH books. The Basic Books. Dave Miscavige says, he did end up basically re-editing all of the Basic Books himself, So how in the world can the Super Power Building be completed and filled with staff and public?

(Author Note: As I write this in 2009 the Super Power Building has not moved forward since at least 2003. Over 100 Million dollars has been raised to fund the construction of it. The only thing released from the above list has been the Basics Books and Lectures which Dave Miscavige stated he finished revising and approving himself in 2004.)

  34.

Some of the people that had left were the very people trained to give the auditing to others. So every time they lost someone, they had to start over. The person auditing these rundowns also had to be very high up the Bridge, usually OT V or higher, so there were not that many staff to choose from. 70% of the Int base staff were not even up to the state of Clear.

The number of people who had completed the rundowns was very few. Maybe 50 people total including the Feshbach brothers.

  37. Wow, with all these “perceptics” you’d think Scientologists would perceive that this is nuts.

First of all, obviously, astronauts use dizzying equipment to train for actual conditions they encounter in space flight.

I just can’t make any sane connection between training for g-forces and different orientations, or weightlessness, and somehow getting “super powers” out of this, or being super perceptive.

So, do they claim that smoking enhances the sense of smell and that all the Scilon smokers will ace the smell-o-rama portion?

Gee, all this makes me wish the Stupid Powerz building was opening tomorrow because I think when the media gets a hold of this, it will increase Scientology’s loony factor several fold.

You couldn’t even make up stuff this nuts, with the dwarf personally overseeing all this. Thanks for the report.

Well Hubbard claimed you will get cancer if you DON’T smoke enough cigarettes, so anything is possible. LOL!

And aptly, chain smoking is probably the closest to super power “lift off” this group has “discovered.” It’s the “lift” the nicotine gives you! Or to be Scientological, the “nicotinic acid.”

I read in Hubbard’s history of nutty letter writing, on file with the FBI and released with the Freedom of Information Act, that he wrote to JFK at one point, and suggested NASA send astronauts to him for dianetical training.

Seems like little Davie-nutbag has taken the Hubbard’s dream to heart, but instead of recruiting astronauts with the “advanced science” in Dianetics, he’s going to get his own space cadets a-pukin’ and a-reelin’ their tiny Dianetical minds out, in order to get to upper atmosphere of the Stupid Powerz building.

  43. I picture the celebutards all lined up, after completing 10 years of this mission critical SUPER POWER training, and little Davie announcing a new final level, the final frontier.

As the celebs follow instructions, learning to use their dianetical finger, and “perceptics” they’ve honed to unheard of levels, to zero in on the objective they’ve been looking for all along…

Yeah, at 12 cents an hour… Which is about what your typical Sea Org member gets paid. Sea Org members are not “regular community folks.” They must sign a billion year contract. They can not have children. All medical, educational and financial issues are handled by “the powers that be.” In short, they are indentured servants working for little or no money. Not exactly the sort of people I’d want in my community.
