Jon and Kate Plus Eight Season 5, aka Mommie Dearest and The Spineless Man

Just Keep Smiling Jon, Or ELSE!
Looks like Jon and Kate plus 8 will be returning for another grueling fifth season. Their first new episode will air May 25th, plus a green speical airing on April 19th. Oh joy, rapture.
Kate Gosselin was recently seen at a book signing in a California Barnes and Noble. Yes, she is on her second book.
Her first book was on the NY Times Best Seller list. Really? What, are people bored out of their freakin’ minds??? I truly can’t picture myself ever being that bored.
As reported by Hollywood Insider
“Hundreds of Jon and Kate Plus 8 fans converged on a three-story Barnes and Noble store in Glendale, Calif., Tuesday to meet series star Kate Gosselin, who is crisscrossing the country to promote her second book, “Eight Little Faces: A Mom’s Journey”.
The bookstore, about eight miles outside of Los Angeles, was the first stop in Gosselin’s multi-city tour (she’ll be in Huntington Beach, Fresno, and San Francisco later this week), and close to 400 people waited for hours to get a brief audience with TLC’s famous mother of eight.”
Oh hells no! 400 people, waiting hours to see that shrew Kate?
Again, did these “fans” not have hair to wash or socks to sort that day???
I’m guessing Mr. Mom Jon was probably home with the brood, that or their army of paid assistants. Kate’s new book called Eight Little Faces: A Mom’s Journey, should be called Pimp Out My Family and Throw Hubby Under The Bus.
Forgive me, but I can’t understand why people who managed to make a small fortune exploiting their family, would continue to “whore” themselves out for the almighty dollar at the risk of their family becoming psychologically scarred and permanently dysfunctional. These people need CPS, not more reality tv. It’s perverse what Kate and Jon are doing to their children and their marriage.
Considering Kate and Jon are supposedly such avid bible thumpers (didn’t they give their kids action bible figures for Christmas one year?) has the vice “greed” not entered their biblical vocabulary?Perhaps they missed the Sunday sermon: “Thou Shall Not Pimp Thy Family Out”.
One would also think that John would have liked to keep whatever was left of his spine (and manhood), but I guess come May…it’s back to jelly fish mode.
What attracts people to this show? There must be SOMETHING, ANYTHING, else to watch. Surely watching Kate rise to even greater heights of “Bitchdum” and John being henpecked till his family jewels are the size of peas would lose its luster, like after the 1st episode, but the 5TH season?
Is it schadenfreude that drives people to watch this trainwreck. Perhaps there’s something to seeing other people’s kids being turned into unrelenting brats. Or Kate losing it over grass stains and dirt on the kids clothes? Or maybe it’s the collective unhappiness of the entire family that turns people on? Now that’s just SICK.
Then again, it could be their cloyingly, icky sugar-sweet (and so fake)Gosselin’s 10 website? In the Q and A section a fan asked:
What is your favorite episode so far (Kate & Jon) and your least favorite episode?
(All answered by Kate, natch.)
“I don’t have a favorite per se, but I especially love the ones where I see our love for our family, our determination to do a great job as parents and the ones where I see the kids loving one another and the experiences our show has brought us. Those are my favorites! Jon? Undeniably the Utah Episode. Our least favorites are the ones where there are painful scenes…we are too harsh to each other or the kids or we don’t react as we should have to a situation. However, that is why our show is a reality show…you get the good, the bad and the ugly and we are determined to be the exact same people that we are when the cameras aren’t there. Many people have been helped by our honesty…so are we “sorry” that certain things are aired? Never.”
Huh? WE are too harsh with each other? And WE don’t react as we should? Well.. don’t forget, it is Kate talking, in the collective of course.
Or perhaps this little gem:
“Have you ever gone a day without someone crying?”
Kate’s snarky reply:
“Has the earth ever gone a day without the sun shining somewhere?”
To me thats like saying does a bear crap in the woods? Is the Pope Catholic? Is Angelina Jolie a soul-sucking succubus? Ok, you get the point.
More probing questions for Kate, the mother of all mothers (if you know what I mean, wink*):
“How many boxes of cereal do you all eat in a week? A year?”
Kate quips:
“We eat about two boxes a day…so you do the math.”
Kate sounding a tad on the irritable side don’t ya think? She can’t even hide her “inner” bitch from her fans. Not a good sign for what she’s like when the cameras aren’t rolling. Does that ever occur?
I just don’t unsderstand how Jon can live with this overbearing harpie of a wife?
Joel McHale from “The Soup” said it best and captured Kate’s most inner beauty in this clip. Sweet Mother of Mercy, she’s a damned raging…well, you can fill in the blanks on that one.
Maybe Jon and Kate’s neighbors have something better to say about them. Um, no.
A juicy little tidbit I found on the Gosselins Without Pity Blog from July last year. YES there is a blog on the Gosselins.
Apparently, Kate and Jon had put some signs on their front lawn last year for a while that were, let’s just say less than neighborly.
The neighbor writes:

“I have been following the unfolding issues regarding Jon & Kate Plus 8 for some time now however have kept my mouth shut about their family until now. I happen to live in the same development as Jon & Kate and have never found them to be personable people. I will say that when they first moved in, you could get a waive out Jon or at least he would acknowledge your presence. However recently i’ve noticed that is no longer the case.Kate has NEVER been personable.
Numerous times I can recall walking around the development and seeing her doing what she does best (sitting on her butt while a volunteer helper chases after the children). So many times i’ve extended a greeting or a waive and she just looks the other way and does not take the time to acknowledge my existence.
With that said, I was NOT very surprised recently when the topic in the development was the very unfriendly signs that they have now placed in their front yard. A total of 3 signs are now posted in front of their house. The signs read:
STOP!
Do not stop in front of our house.
Do not take pictures.
Do not stop and talk to us.
Uh… hey Kate, if you don’t want people to stop, then why does the first sign say STOP? I think having ooglers is part of the territory when you pimp out your family in a reality show that’s filmed at your house.
Another blogger wrote:
“Kate has never been what you would call friendly. It’s quite ironic that she had no problem taking anyone’s money or services or diapers/food/furniture, because she feels that “it takes a village”. Yet…can’t stand the village and tells them to kiss off?! Wow. The irony- it burns.”
Nothing but love, love, love. A good friend once coined the term, “It takes a village to stone an idiot” and well, this may very well be a good test case for just that. Metaphorically speaking, of course!
Some people in the online community were questioning if the signs were in fact real or if it was a rumor. But a local radio station in Pa. was discussing the signs last July, and three neighbors called in and confirmed that the signs were in fact there. SO, the answer is YES, Jon and Kate suck as neighbors too.
Since they supposedly get $25,000.00 a week for the show, (I wonder how much Kate actually gives Jon for his allowance? ) they seem to be sitting pretty. Not to mention all the cash they get from their books and DVD sales. Hmmmm….I need a gag gift for a party coming up, one of their DVDS would do quite nicely.
Maybe Jon has a master plan down the road, to finally be free of Kate’s claws and he will leave in a blaze of glory with his half of the dough, drive off into the sunset in a nice convertible, music blazing, flipping Kate the bird, while Kate stands on the front lawn with her mouth agape. Now THAT, I’d watch.
.
Of course we don’t condone Jon leaving eight kids behind…(he can have joint custody) but could anyone blame the guy. Maybe his little night out with the college sorority girls was a testing of the waters. No doubt the level of fury and wrath from Kate over that bad PR still has him licking his wounds.
Now, before I get a bunch of angry Jon and Kate lover comments…remember THEY are the ones that chose to put their lives on camera and hey if you have something to say…so bring it!
I know marriages are not perfect all the time, to say the least and all couples do argue. That’s normal and I personally can never imagine giving birth and taking care of a litter of eight kids either. But I do know one thing, if it did happen to me, and I was blessed with an income like theirs and a husband that would stick around, I certainly would get a handle on myself and lose the attitude right quick.
Kate just may end up being one of the most hated moms since Faye Dunaway played Joan Crawford in Mommie Dearest.

Well said!!!!!-from someone who used to watch this show all the time-they have proven themselves to be unfit parents(both of them) and absolutely concerned about one thing and one thing only-MONEY

HA! I’ve seen that show, Kate is a witch!
I didn’t know there was a whole WEBSITE devoted to getting rid of this show…I am going to be busy reading for the rest of the day!

Wow, you are right on. These people are the biggest pimps alive, though they have some company with Octomom.

Hell Yes! That family is sick!
Comment by Anne — April 20, 2009 @ 8:17 pm
They are both mental and emotional abusers. Those kids are going to be so screwed up, but hey no one cares. All Jon & Kate care about is $$$$$$$$$. Even the fans could careless about the kids because the fans are so stupid and ignorant they believe everything that comes out of Kate-the-hypocritical-Christian’s mouth.
Comment by mea — April 20, 2009 @ 8:28 pm
I watched the show once for about 10 minutes and I never plan to watch it again. That anyone can stomach this shrew for any length of time is a mystery to me.
Comment by Rachel — April 20, 2009 @ 8:40 pm
I’m so glad word is spreading & the truth is coming out. I also used to be a fan when the show was new. (Way before their self absorbed greed and Kate’s abusive behavior became obvious.) I stumbled upon the GWoP site in search of answers as to why Kate cut more family members out of her kids lives when Aunt Jodie & Beth Carson disappeared. When is someone going to step in and put an end to this insanity?

She is forever saying “you do the math”. The reason, she can’t!
Boy but she sure has her hand out for every free thing. I was taught that “you don’t bite the hand that feeds you”. When will people wake up to what she truly is: A pimp of children.
Comment by Heather — April 20, 2009 @ 9:35 pm
But she is my true love! I have the purse to match her Hooker shoes. We will be best fiends if her bodyguard would just let me get to her!
I had one baby that weighed as much as all 6 of hers – doesn’t that count for something?

I loved this show!! The kids are adorable and sincerely I feel terribly bad for them, with that shrew of a mom they have! I can’t stand seeing this show now, there is not one episode in which Kate is critizing her husband or yelling at her children! That daughter of their, Mady, is going to be exactly like her mother when she grows up! Before this show used to be cute now its just obnoxious watching Kate yell at everybody all the time. On the special green episode she won’t stop making fun of the guy who is HELPING her!! Its so annoying I can’t stand it! But I will admit that I want to see how these children turn out.
Comment by Analice — April 20, 2009 @ 10:23 pm
I just watched the Green special….Kate is a whiny, sacarstic beotch. Most people would love to have these projects done for them, for free….grow up Kate! It’s time to put the kids front and centre in the show….not Kate. If that doesn’t happen, the show needs to be taken off the air. Kate needs to come home from her ego trip. She is very obnoxious!
Comment by Judi — April 20, 2009 @ 10:38 pm
well all of you are so mean you dont have to call her that i do admitte that she is annoying but she just a little crancky so wat and she didn’t throw jon under the bus so back of and you wat they arte very very very very very nice and polite and funny people and family.
Comment by serina — April 20, 2009 @ 10:53 pm
Kate,
Look at yourself in the mirror. Go back being just a loving mother. Not the “MOTHER” you are today. Remember we all having things that up set us, but when you are given a lot of these things a kind thank you would be nice to hear. Not, “you know I’m joking.”
Hey guys, do you remember when Kate opened the door of her NEW home, the farm, and she said…LOOK AT ALL MY LAND, LOOK AT MY NEW HOUSE. IT’S ALL MINE!!!!!
Tells me Jon is out of the picture.
Comment by Barbara Diener — April 20, 2009 @ 10:57 pm
I follow the Gosselins Without Pity site faithfully, and I have to agree that this show is nothing but exploitation of these children! It used to be a cute show about a FAMILY making it work with so many kids, but now it seems to be about how much money and how many freebies Jon and Kate can swoop up. I feel really sorry for these kids, and hope by some miracle of God, that they can grow up to be productive members of society.

Maybe you SHOULD do the math. 8 kids multiplied by 8 college tuitions equals at least $100,000 (for public schools) and this does not include all other daily costs Jon and Kate will have to shell out for these children until they are 18. Why don’t you people just for a second recognize how DIFFICULT and COSTLY it must be to have 8 kids? They actually NEED this show for the benefit of the CHILDREN’s future, not for personal greed. Sheesh.
Comment by Lena — April 21, 2009 @ 1:34 am
Hey, Lena! 6 of those 8 children were already given free tuition to any state college in Pennsylvania when they were born. So, Jon and Kate have to provide college tuition for 2 kids………gee the same number of kids that I have to provide for. So, what’s your next argument?? This show has gone so far beyond NEED for this family. It is all about WANT now. (The house, the nannies, the plastic surgeries, the clothes, the trips, the vacation house) Not to mention that they chose to have all of these children. There are plenty of families with more children than the Gosselins that provide for their families just fine without pimping out the kids. I’m amazed that people are still snowed by this greedy, greedy couple!
Comment by ShayShay — April 21, 2009 @ 2:16 am
Oh Please! They make more than $25K per show….it’s more like 60+K per show. They also take in “love offerings” to the tune of at least $25K per church, meaning each church has to pay THEM that fee just to sit there and LIE! Then they have the audacity to SELL pictures of their children to little old ladies who, for whatever reason, want to have a picture. She also has to fly first class now…coach is in the past.
The first article in this site mentioned her little book-signing tour. Okay, she is in CA for a good week. How much of that time is she really thinking of her kids? Probably not as often as she is thinking of her next mani/pedi and spa treatment. Gimme a break. How much time is she really home these days? Not many, by the looks of this past season. She was gone more than she was there. Funny how she manages to leave when they are moving. Jon gets to watch the kids and pack up the place.
She had 8 kids, big whoop! My mom had seven in less than 9 years. No handouts, no freebies, no fancy vacations, no million dollar mansion. One thing though that we did have that the Gosselin’s clearly do not is that we had a loving family. And by that I mean my parents had great respect and love for each other and each of us kids and our grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins were a big part of our lives. Oh yeah, and our neighbors too.
This will all come back to haunt Kate, mark my words. Jon, I used to like him because he is clearly the parent that cares, bathes, brushes teeth!, etc., but he is stuck with that shrew. There is no way he can ever leave her. She’s got what’s left of his you-know-whats tied up so tight. Poor guy!
On this stupid green episode (more freebies!) did you notice the shrew talking about how cold it was and feeling sorry for the guys out there working? Gee, never once did she show that same concern for her children! Why did she let those kids run around out there with all that machinery when it was so cold? Jon was up on the roof relishing in the testosterone of the other guys. He waasn’t watching the kids. But Kate could leave to go to the store. Kids, who cares! Not Kate! They should have been inside with her, where she could have kept an eye on them. But we all know that Kate doesn’t know how to do that anymore!
PS Loved how she tried to show what a loving dog owner she is. That dog didn’t go after the stick she threw because that dog has no relationship at all with that shrew.
Comment by clare — April 21, 2009 @ 2:36 am
Lena, have you heard of a job? You know, what normal parents who had to worry about sending 8 kids to college would get? A reality show wasn’t necessary to give these children good lives, just parents with a decent work ethic, which is obviously what Jon and Kate are lacking. They don’t need the show at all, and they especially don’t need it anymore. By the looks of their million dollar home they made enough money “for college and expenses” long ago.
Comment by Jackelynn — April 21, 2009 @ 2:37 am
Lena: No one strapped Kate down and forced her to have fertility treatments after she already had two beautiful girls. She knew exactly what she was doing. So she shouldn’t whine now about their supposed lack of money and how hard it is to raise these kids, when they basically take grocery money from Church women too credulous to know Kate is a fake.
Comment by Evil.Medieval — April 21, 2009 @ 2:40 am
All you people do is complain. Stop whining about Jon and Kate’s life and worry about your own.
They’re not causing a terrible up roar and running in front of news crews and saying “Oh look poor us, give us everything”.
If anything, someone approached them and gave them all the luxuries.
Kate is irritable and at times Jon doesn’t help either but calling them unfit parents is a bit too much. Kate acknowledges her children’s needs enough that they are not running off in the streets and cursing already like some children of abusive parents and addicts. For example, Hannah is a slow-to-warm child and Kate adequately took care of Hannah.
Annoying? Yes. Kate mean? Probably. Jon spineless? I’ll put bets onit. But unfit parents? I don’t think so.
Comment by Kathy — April 21, 2009 @ 2:55 am
Kate is the bitch of the land. And John needs to regrow some balls and tell her to shut the hell up a time or two. Their kids are great but I do believe they will be pretty screwed up after this show. But hey, Kate got a big house and loads of cash out it. So all is well in bitch land.
Comment by Ebonie — April 21, 2009 @ 3:14 am
Oh thanks so much for posting that, I totally agree. I have a friend who used to live near them when they lived in E town, and they really are rude people. And that’s BEFORE the reality show started. Kate would sit on her a*s all the time and let other people take care of her kids, and then have the nerve to bitch if something was done wrong. I really hate that woman.
Comment by Kat — April 21, 2009 @ 4:23 am
Well done.
Kate is a media whore, addicted to her D-List celebrity and finacial gains. Neither worked at actual jobs for very long before they decided a more profitable existence could be had from prostituting their kids.
She is a travesty to the word, “Mother” and he equally defames, “Father”. I have seen cold blooded reptiles serve their offspring with more insight and compassion than these two.
Comment by Nina — April 21, 2009 @ 5:33 am
Wow, you all must be absolutely perfect women and mothers to be able to cast such judgement on someone else. Please do tell your secret to utter perfection.
Comment by Frannie — April 21, 2009 @ 8:27 am
Frannie,
You don’t have to be a perfect mom to know when another mom is blowing it with her kids.
Kate is behaving much like a person suffering from substance addiction. Those people will sacrifice anything to get their fix…friends, family, even their own self-worth. Fame and Celebrity is Kate’s “crack” and her family is paying the price for her addiction.
Comment by Kissy — April 21, 2009 @ 8:40 am
Let me preface this by saying that I do believe the Gosselins should say enough is enough with the gains they have received from their show (and will continue to receive from all the residuals) and be done with the reality show and give their kids a snowball’s chance at a “normal” life.
That said, however, I can’t help but comment on the vast and obvious jealousy that is spewed forth by so many of you “haters”. I am sure there are a few of you out there that are truly so honorable that you would turn down the potential financial security (a.k.a. wealth) afforded by a reality show about your family, but MOST of you would do the EXACT same thing Kate and Jon have done.
It’s so easy to stand up on your pedestal, armed with all your virtue and morality, and condemn the Gosselins, but you would be hard-pressed to convince me that you would turn down the opportunity to take away your financial worry and provide a good life, home, education, etc. for your family by allowing the public a glimpse into your life. Please!?!?!?!
You all talk about what a bitch Kate is, yet, here you are spewing hatred all over the place, because apparently you don’t have anything more productive to do with your time. Wonder what you’d look like if you were on camera 24/7? Get real, people!
You all need to get off your high horses. It’s easy to profess to be so righteous when you know you won’t ever be faced with actually making the decision the Gosselins have made to do a reality show. Come back and comment here when someone approaches you with the opportunity to do a reality show and potentially make millions, and you turn them down because it’s against your principles. Then you come back here and comment on what the Gosselins have done.
To reiterate, I do think the Gosselins initial intentions were reasonably good – to have a chance to provide some financial security for their family. I also think they have become over-involved with the money the show generates, and less in touch with the potential damage the show is doing to their family, as well as the increasingly negative perception from the public. I imagine it’s easy for them chalk up the negativity about the show to the fact that there will always be jealous people and haters, especially in light of the fact that there are still so many avid fans of the show. But again, I do think it is time for the Gosselins to say enough is enough. I hope that season five is their last, by their choice.

Comment for glp,
I am pretty sure this is a GOSSIP blog? duh!
Not Little House on the Prairie.
I think the writer said that IF she were blessed with their income, that she would adjust her attitude. Maybe you should read it again.
I sincerely doubt that there is ANY jealousy in involved here dear, just people who have the right to to GOSSSIP.
And GOSSIP happens when people put their lives on camera. It comes with the job.
Besides, diversity is what makes the world go round. Wouldn’t want a bunch of Jon and Kate lovers running around the world….. I would fire up the first rocket out.
Plus you say people have nothing more productive to do? What does that make you? YOU ARE HERE TOO. Don’t you have anything more productive to do but defend them?
Since you call us “haters”.
You must be a Jon and Kate ass kisser then?
Right? Seems only fair. Or unfair.
To be jealous about an over bearing wife that treats her husband like crap and is a royal bitch on TV is laughable.
Show should be called “Little House on the Bitch’s Prairie”.
But I do agree with you when you agreed that enough is enough. The show should end.
And to Frannie, no I don’t consider myself perfect… (can’t speak for the other commenters)
but I am also not on TV with my life spread out like an open faced sandwhich and bitching about it while getting paid an insane amount of money either.
But I do know a bitch and a bad show when I see it. and the last time I checked, people are entiteld to their own opinion, ESPECIALLY on a GOSSIP blog dear.

Uh, The Perfect Mom~
I wasn’t referring to any one statement on this site, I was responding to the collective whole of you that are spewing the hatred.
And say what you want, still sounds like a lot of jealousy to me, so we will just have to agree to disagree on that one.
And while this is a gossip blog, there are those of us who prefer to add a little bit of insight and reason to the otherwise mindless dialogue.

Kate needs to remember the reason why she wanted this family. Her need to support the family through the show and her books is necessary but she needs to take a step back. Her personality on the show has progressively detoriated and she has become harsh. It must be difficult for her family to watch this change. Jon has lots to offer the kids; his love of nature, life, sports and imagination but Kate stifles this through her put downs. Comments by Pat

Kate “may be” the most hated mom since Faye Dunaway? Kate *IS* the most hated mom EVER. She isn’t even a Mom. She is playing the role for the cameras. Jon and the ‘nanny’ are the ones raising those kids. Kate just likes the look and fun of it all and the income it brings in.
Psst. Someone should tell her that her kids aren’t cute or interesting anymore and once the sponsors and public sees the ‘cuteness’ has faded in them, Kate will have to find some other way to exploit for money. I believe she will be a lonely person in a big house on a hill in Wernersville, PA. She lives a lonely life now, can you imagine once the cameras go away how pathetic her life will be?
Comment by Michelle — April 21, 2009 @ 11:13 am
Pat, agreed.
Kate should practice some honest self-evaluation, as we all should from time to time.
Comment by glp — April 21, 2009 @ 11:14 am
The kids are still cute ! but now that she has everything, those little tykes are still hungry and fighting all the time… there don’t seem to be any new age appropriate toys outside the mansion even one of the basketball hoops, or volley ball net…they remind me of the Olden days when we were sent out with a tspoon and told to find something to do. I don’t care that she’s a bitch… just treat those kids better I couldput up with those stupid big ass teeth she has now, the ear pulling and the orange tan, just let me see something nice about the kids… how many years to we have to watch them eat bird food off paper plates… damn girl, if you have a chef, let him or her make some Organic meals for these tykes!…run around in your “cool” clothes… just let me see more of the those growing up, not like little animals you let out of the cage for the show each week… talk about abuse… it sooo isss…As afar as the “father” goes, let him hire all the people to put beds together and spend some time with the kids… I’m sure he likes to do something other than ski in Utah… the novelty has worn off already… get with it Gosselins !!!
Comment by patti martini — April 21, 2009 @ 11:46 am
Psst 34, only millions watch and still, I would assume, think the kids are as cute as any kids can be. I know I do. The kids are wonderful. Amazing that they all have their own distinct personality. Kate is a graceless, no mannered trailer park trash kind of gal. Sadly, she is part of the deal if we want to watch the kids. I put Kate on ignore. Folks should be happy she exposes herself just about every second she opens her mouth. Poor Jon is taking care of the kids and the stuff in and of the house. For an uneducated guy, he is at least meeting his responsibilites.
I only watch JandK and the beuty pagent show cause I am not interested in any of those other families or kids and least of all in the faties.
Comment by sherp — April 21, 2009 @ 11:58 am
Katie Irene sure is spending a lot of time in LA as of late. For the loving mother she “claims” to be…she is leaving her brood in the hands of others quite often. It couldn’t possibly be Jon, could it? Isn’t he “staying with “his mom”, nursing her injured foot? This, the “mom” that, according to Jon, “is not involved with his family nor his children.” The Gosselin kids even referred to Jon’s mom as “daddy’s mom”. Not grandma, or nana, or any word affectionately referencing “grandmother”.
Perhaps Kate is giving Nadya Suleman “tips” on how to be another ice queen and milk her own reality show for all it is worth. Proving a “hands on” approach to Nadya on how to pimp out 14 kids. Nadya already has Kate’s ditzy, superficial, all about me attitude. Kate may be giving Nadya bitch lessons and tweaking her media “whore” approach~ just a tad. Who the hell knows, maybe they are out shopping everyday and are “bestest” pals now. Can’t you just see Kate, the self made fashionista, bringing Nadya up to Ann Taylor and Banana Republic. I am sure Kate frowns upon Nadya’s wardrobe as Nadya already owns every piece of Hollister apparel made. Those two would be a hoot, don’t you think? Me thinks NOT.
As for this 5th season, what in the hell are we going to be privy to? Are the camera’s going to follow the ‘tups around kindergarten? Will there be more “Mady Mega Meltdowns”? Will we ever meet the “phantom nanny”, or will she be thrust to the wayside along with Aunt Jodie, Uncle Kevin, Beth, Bob, Talia, and Beth’s other daughters, as well as “helper” Jenny? What amazing and glorious vacays are we going to witness this season? Will Kate and Jon vacation together or separate? Will we dare see a clip of the infamous “fan picture taking” or Jon’s beer pong game? (did he win?) Maybe Jon will teach the boys how to play “Juicy Juice pong”. However, the burning question I have is will Kate’s chicken’s ass hairstyle be re-invented for this season and is Kate’s tan tanning bed or “fake bake”? Remember, Kate used to work “part time” at a tanning salon. Maybe she has her own tanning bed alongside her “doggie kitchen”….

PERFECT! This is exactly what is going on, what many people turn a deaf ear to, and what NEEDS to be exposed about this HORRENOUSLY HORENDOUS woman. GREED is her middle name or is it FruitKate, Her Royal Heiney, Kon artists(Kon = Jon and Kate), Queen Freebie, etc. They have scammed so many well meaning people now that others who really are in NEED, will get less help because of them. SAD! They are million airs, stop watching their show and they will go away!!!!!!!!
Comment by Tami — April 21, 2009 @ 12:55 pm
I wouldn’t mind the show if they would cut it back to 3 or 4 shows a year. They could supplement their income and the children would still have somewhat normal lives.
But they are filming 40 episodes this year!! And Kate is gone nearly every single day promoting that miserable so called book of hers.
She has completely gone over to the bad side and I don’t think she has anyone near to her to help reel her back as she has ruined all former relationships.
I just don’t see anything good in their future.

Comment by glp — April 21, 2009 @ 1:04 pm
I agree with you, Free the Gosselin 8, in that Kate seems to be destroying all the relationships in her life (from what is “reported”), so she is missing that foundation, so to speak, to keep her grounded. And it will make for a lonely existance, when the whirlwind does end, and it will end.
Comment by glp — April 21, 2009 @ 1:08 pm
There is chatter around and within the state of Pennsylvania that there are a couple of legislators that are discussing introducing a new bill/law aimed at strengthening the child labor laws.
I hope they call it “Madys Bill”.
If something isn’t done soon those kids are going to be destroyed emotionally.

Kates a bitch but I don’t see how anyone hasn’t recognized what a douche bag Jon is. If anyone ever talked to my daughter like he does to his kids sometimes they would have my foot up their ass.

One more thought to ponder:
Does anyone know what happened to Jen Stocks, the executive producer/writer/director/”couch interviewer” for Figure 8 Films?
Is Jen in LA “on Nadya Suleman assignment” or did Kate kick her to the proverbial curb as well? Makes you go hmmm…..

LOL – you really nailed it. I do think of Kate as this generation’s Mommy Dearest. To borrow one of her own phrases, she’s “horribly horrendous!” It would be hilarious if it didn’t involve children. I really feel for those poor kids. What are their chances of turning out normal and happy? I used to watch the show all the time, but it slowly dawned on me that Kate is actually rather vile and certainly a grasping, ungrateful sort of person. I loved your vision of Jon tucking away money until he has enough to make his daring escape (hopefully with those kids in tow – they need saving from Mommy Dearest too). To the producers and networks who keep renewing this show, you have my undying contempt. To those who advertise on this show, you have none of my purchasing dollars, ever.
Comment by Janey — April 21, 2009 @ 6:40 pm
To Lena – I grew up in a family of 9 kids, and know people from other large families as well. Sit down, because this is going to come as quite a shock to you. Are you ready? Believe it or not, our family survived on one income – my father’s. We wore hand-me-downs, and got second-hand bikes. We shopped at the Day Old Bakery, and had two pairs of shoes (one for every day wear, and one pair for church). My mom cut the girls’ hair and my dad trimmed the boys’ hair. And somehow, they managed to tuck away a small amount in savings for each of us, enough so that we could apply it to the first year of college, or a downpayment for a car, whatever. As to the rest of the college money — we worked hard for it ourselves. I babysit when younger, then worked in a drug store, and got good grades and a partial scholarship. It’s called making do, without pimping your children out and making their private moments public. Selling out your children in the name of money is never okay. Just like the father of that little girl who was in SlumDog Millionaires, trying to sell his 9-year old off to the highest bidder — all in the name of providing a better life. Do you think that’s okay too?

I love Jon and Kate Plus Eight….really. If you watch the show, you know that Kate is extremely organized and very schedule oriented. Is she a bitch? Yes, sometimes. Most of the time I think she is just trying to hold her life together in her own OCD way.
The kids are great, they seem to be well behaved most of the time. No one is perfect, but this family is sweet and entertaining.
For those who don’t like this family, you might try watching another little show it’s hosted by Jerry Springer and may be more suited to some of you hate mongers.
Comment by Patsy — April 22, 2009 @ 5:07 pm
Why on earth do people continue to watch this show? As far as I’m concerned the people who watch this show are just as guilty as Jon & Kate. Quit watching and the show and it will be cancelled – then the kids can go back to their normal lives.
Kate is such a bitch – and an ugly, orange bitch at that.
Comment by kateisorange — April 22, 2009 @ 6:27 pm
I have to admit, this is something I’ve watched for a couple of seasons now since my wife got me in to it. I didn’t really notice anything unusual about Kate for the first season or so that we watched it, but definitely have noticed how she dominates the house since then. Always needs the last word, keeps everybody at bay as much as possible, never too relaxed to skip giving an epic ass-chewing for something tiny that has gone wrong. I would probably be the one putting signs in my yard to keep HER out… it is that likely I would go insane with any exposure to her whatsoever.
I don’t have kids, and I can’t judge her as a parent… I can’t imagine she’s a nice person but you have to admit she’s really trying to provide a life for her kids, who I have never considered badly developed or maladjusted. I totally believe she takes church handouts and then hides from the community, as she does the same thing with the show… she obviously wants the income and a sort of “princess” status but she clearly doesn’t enjoy contact with fans, maybe even scorning them.
Shoot, I was going to try and be positive, but I’m not sure it’s looking positive at this point. People can change but with the whole internet glaring at her (with good reason, if you ever consider it reasonable to call somebody out,) she’s probably not going to change, out of self defense.
Comment by K Love — April 22, 2009 @ 8:41 pm
I think that people that judge Jon & Kate for supporting their family with the show are nothing but jealous. Why wouldn’t you? It allows them to give their kids a great life and many opportunities while being able to stay at home with them. I understand that she may not always treat Jon very nicely but at the same time I can absolutely identify with her. She simply gets frustrated with him at times which we all do and she is keeping it real and if anybody is allowed to complain about it, it’s Jon. Anyways, I absolutely love the show and like I said earlier – people are simply jealous of the opportunities they have because of the show which ironically shows their lack of character
!

They are a real family, with their own issues… They found a niche and are taking advantage of it… They are rich, and I am not… They have their own reality, I have mine… They’re not perfect, neither am I… Their life’s not perfect, neither is mine… Is there anything I can do to make their life’s better? As someone who’s worked in advertising for a long time – and therefore know a little about PR, brand equity, and editing video footage to tell a ’story’, I have to say I’m shocked at what’s happened to J+K in the past year or so.
I used to be a big fan: sure, Kate was impatient and totally OCD, but it was obvious (esp. in the first couple of years) that she really did love her kids (my mum loved me and my sister a lot, but I’ll tell you right now we never got heart-shaped sandwiches in our lunch on Valentine’s Day, or little notes in our lunchboxes).
Now she just seems mean, and both J and K seem like grasping fame-whores (and Jon’s just as bad as Kate – there’s a video of him doing an interview in Utah in which his comments about demographics, advertisers and ratings make it clear that he’s just as market-savvy as any television network exec).
My thing is this: If TLC or J+K were my client (i.e. if I were their publicist or marketing director), I’d be VERY concerned about their long-term brand equity. Because in order to keep people watching the show, buying the books, and paying for the speaking engagements in the long term, you’ve got to keep them LIKING you.
Look at Lindsay Lohan: sure, she’s well-known, and in the tabloids every day, but the press is all so negative that she’s not getting much actual WORK (and therefore isn’t getting much actual MONEY).
Yes, people will watch a ‘trainwreck’ for a while, but in the long-term it causes the brand equity to drop and the revenue to dry up.
So WHY ON EARTH isn’t someone TELLING Kate to stop being a jerk when there are cameras around? If it really is just about ‘editing’ (i.e. Kate’s not really a shrew, it’s just the way the episodes are edited), why is TLC allowing so much of her shrewishness to make it in to the final cut?
I’m starting to think that the only way this makes sense is if J+K are PLANNING to end it: In other words, the reason they’re letting the anti-Kate, anti-Gosselin thing continue is because they’re courting a short-term media frenzy in the next 12-18 months, building to a sharp decline. Then the show’ll get cancelled, it’ll go into syndication, and J+K will return to obscurity where the residuals will flow for the next 10 years.
I really really can’t wait for Mady’s tell-all book in 2020.

to 5015 jordan—
Kates’s parents live in PA. Her father is a church pastor. According to rumor, she is estranged from her parents because her father’s church handouts didn’t meet her high standards (the cribs did not all match – gasp). She mentioned her father on the recent “Green” episode. She said she was like “this” (I am guessing she is referring to her OCD when she said “this”)
because her father always had the house torn apart remodeling while growing up.
Comment by Tilly — April 26, 2009 @ 11:47 pm
Um, actually, it is Schadenfreude.
From Wikipedia, Schadenfreude is pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others. Philosopher and sociologist Theodor Adorno defined schadenfreude as “largely unanticipated delight in the suffering of another which is cognized as trivial and/or appropriate.”[2]

In Response to #77:
Jon and Kate “supporting” their family? Without these children, they would not have the “opportunities” that you speak of. Many moms and dads are at home these days, due to unemployment. They are not afforded the luxuries of bodyguards, mini-mansions fully equipped with every major brand sponsor’s appliance, furniture, and toys, and no vacations whenever the need occurs. Also, no one “simply gets frustrated”, and no one I know speaks to their husband as Kate does to Jon. You are correct on one thing, the do lack character. Kate is as exciting as a root canal. Your post was written as someone who lacks the knowledge of child rearing as well as the insight that raising a family is not based upon material things, I would almost suspect Kate as the author, but I hardly believe she would use such big words as “ironically” and “character”.

Do all of you live in a glass house? Must not be since it is so easy for all of you to throw stones. If you don’t like Kate and her attitude, don’t watch the episodes. If you really read through all of the negative comments, a lot of it boils down to jealousy. Regardless of how much money they make doing these shows, Kate, Jon and the kids portray the real thing. This is reality folks and it is not easy. Bottom line, if you do not have anything nice to say or contribute, then don’t say anything. Remove yourself from the so called “disfunctional” family and you will not have to wallow in the misery.

When I saw a couple episodes of this show the thought did run across my mind that she is so controlling and bitchy why hasnt jon cheated yet…. Kate reminds me of my ex boyfriends mom. She was bitchy and thinks everything is under her control. I give her a year before her husband leaves her. I also had a guy friend that cheated on his wife for most of their marraige, celeste acted the same way kate does on the show. Its so annoying and no man will stick around in the long run. That is for all relationships it doesnt matter if the woman is pretty or has his kids. It doesnt last forever………he will eventually grow some balls and leave her even if she gets him in child support.

Mea you are an idiot. Your comments are ridiculous!!! If you watched the show Kate was a RN and Jon was or is and IT anaylst which the last time I checked requires a degree. Maybe if you had an education you would know that. I love the show and its very apparent her children love her very much. They have received perks because of the show and have shown their gratitude many times in their interviews. Some viewers are obviously jealous of their success and the money they are making for their family. I say good for them.I do not see this as them exploiting their children. I would like to see Kate chill out on Jon. She also needs to let these kids enjoy themselves and quit worrying about them getting their clothes dirty. Put them in play clothes and if the stains dont come out NO BIG DEAL.

Kate is a total, ungrateful, bitch! As a mother of 6, 2 sets of twins, two singles, 2 with disabilities, all naturally conceived, I can’t stand this show. My kids are ages 10-5. She should be grateful that they all appear to be “normal” and healthy. It would also help if she would discipline the older two girls and stop their tantrums, and appreciate her husband for all that he does. We had the unfortunate experience to be in the same amusement park at the same time as the Gosslins. The kids were spoiled out, of control, whinny, complaining, brats. My husband made the comment that if I ever treated or talked to him the way that Kate does Jon, he would divorce me. If the rumors about his affairs are true, we don’t blame him! I am not jealous of their income, because my husband makes more, and we have help, due to our special needs kids. I really do not believe that Kate was ever a nurse either. I am one, and if she was, I feel sorry for all of her former patients, as she shows no compassion EVER!!! I too quit work to take care of my children, and am grateful everyday that I was able to do that. We have no help from family, but our neighbors are awesome!!!! Kate quit being such a BITCH to everyone and you might find some great friendships and help. Jon man-up and it would make you feel better!

Ohhhh, you are so wrong about Kate, you don’t even know! She is not all that giving, unless it benefits her. I have a fellow co-worker who goes to church with her. She says, Kate has never contributed anything to the church, when asked to help sponsor a kids night out activity event, that the church holds for local children every few months, she declines. And yes many of other people who make way less money, give to the church. I’ve taken my kids to this event 3 times now and have never seen her or the kids there participating. And NO! you can’t say they don’t want to go because of who they are, they go to church there, they can help to support it! I pass thier house everyday on my way home from work, and never see those kids outside playing!!! And we’ve had some beautiful weather lately. So, why doesn’t either of them do anything with the kids outside? Especially if they LOVE them sooo much!!

I hope and pray this family gets counseling and puts it all back together for the childrens’ sakes.
First and foremost, Kate needs to know that verbal abuse of Jon is not acceptable, and Jon needs to know he does not have to listen to that kind of talk. When she starts her crap he should just tell her “when you are ready to talk to me like I am a worthy person, we will talk, but I refuse to listen to insults, put downs, and yelling.” That would be a nice beginning.

Has anyone seen the preview for the new season? Emeril Lagasse came to their house to cook for them. He was showing Jon how to do something when Kate, being the most annoying creature on the planet, interrupted them by trying to correct Jon. Emeril told Kate to leave Jon alone, after which Kate hit Emeril with a spatula. When complete strangers find it obvious that Kate is crazy, I think she should try spending less time yelling like a banshee, and assaulting people and more time trying to get herself together mentally.

I will not watch another show and contribute to the continuing “abuse” of the eight children.
I am a bigger fan than ever of the Duggar’s. Their morals and hard working ethics haven’t changed one iota. Very refreshing and hopeful!

Most of you should get a life. For people who don’t care, you certainly are out there. Your language is terrible. If you don’t like it, get out of it. No one has a gun to your back. I hope your life improves soon.

You guys are all freaking hypocrites! You lvie in America where the motto is ‘the land of opportunity’…what do you think these people are doing? they were given an opportunity to make money. Maybe if y’all so inspiring Americans would take a chill pill and realize you would do the exact same thing if not already, then the ever so high demand for “reality tv” would dissipate. I feel terrible for the children. What y’all are saying are going to affect them a lot more than their parents. Quit your whining and make some responsible changes in your own lives. Why do you think America is the way it is? Because of all of you. …as for the Duggars….even more irresponsible and unadmirable than all of you posting negative comments. You think they can afford to raise 19 children in a new home they built and customized w/out a tv show contract? Take these shows for what it’s worth…entertainment…it’s only television. Pick up a book if you don’t like it.

geesh, have I seen that video clip already? I’m sure I have, but at the time, I think I was laughing at their relationship. But, now I can see how it really is with all the media hype. Kate always says that everything is NOT edited and it is ALL real, and she is who she is, blah blah blah…Sure, she is who she is, BUT there is SO MUCH BTS that we don’t see that is edited OUT that would show what a biAtch she is!!
All I can say is RUN JON RUN!

whoa, wait a sec, I thought Kate was a Registered Nurse? The poster above says she has no education. Scuse me, Nursing School is nothing to sneeze at and if she is a good nurse she can earn $70-$80k/ yr plus bonus’. She said on one show she did part-time, sounded like she did on-call responsibilities over a weekend could fetch some sewrious money too. If Jon is such a computer whiz- he works from home!!-then he should be making “good money” too. They could both be working and making enough to handle 8 kids, and their friends they used to have a relatives that used to help would step up and help out. But they are beyond that now aS they have cut all ties w/ their ‘families’.
Its starting to look lke child exploitation more and more……jmobservations

If Kate is as bad a mother as you think, you should be glad she’s out on the road making a living instead of being with her kids.
I don’t think of the show as child explotation as much as making hay while the sun shines. If the kids have problems with themselves later, they need to get over themselves. This shouldn’t hurt them in the least.

I presently live very close to the Gosselins. I remember when the babies were born and all the whinning Kate did to get all the free help and babysitters she could gather. Our local paper, the Reading Eagle ran article after article about Jon and Kate and the offers kept pouring in. They took everything they could get. I probably would have done the same thing, except I would have shown some gratitude. I think it is ironic that today, Jon and Kate will not even give the Reading Eagle the time of day. The network needs to pull the plug on this show and let Jon and Kate find out what the real world is really like.

The Duggars are just as bad as the Gosselins because they make slaves out of their children. These people need to stop using their older children to rear the babies! Let’s give the children a childhood!!!
