Anna Nicole’s Drug Enablers FINALLY In Hot Water?

It may have taken two years since Anna Nicole’s untimely death on Feb 8th, 2007 to finally catch up with what everybody thought was fishy about this case, but it looks like our friend Karma is biting some well deserved people in the ass. Naming her ex “boyfriend/lawyer” and her two doctors. Looks like the three musketeers will have to face a hearing this August.
The three suspects pleaded not guilty only this past May. Sorry, I am not buying it. Don’t forget, Anna was found with both prescription and over-the-counter drugs in her system, including THREE antidepressant or anti-anxiety drugs. Human growth hormone AND chloral hydrate, which is a sleep medication. That’s quite a list.
The news of Anna’s death hit me a little hard back in 2007. I happened to be in Florida when it occurred and drove right by the Hard Rock on the highway on my way to Miami, and I remember pointing out the blue hotel from the highway the day before her death.
I always felt Anna was a tragic victim of Hollywood and also a victim of the people who “cared” for her AND society. You can’t mention the name Anna Nicole Smith without getting a few raised eyebrows and a couple of smirks from some people.
When Anna first came on the scene with her stunning face and traffic stopping curves as a Guess Jeans model, she was all over the media. She went from a Guess Jeans spokesperson to Playboy Model of the year in a very short time and then married a billionaire. Not too shabby for a small town girl.
Not surprisingly, all the media admiration and her fans slowly turned against her. People constantly made fun of her and called her a gold digger when she married 89 year old billionaire J. Howard Marshal, who was 63 years her senior. Let’s not forget, J. Howard wasn’t forced to marry Anna and he was of sound mind when they married. Most importantly, it was he who pursued Anna, buying her lavish gifts shortly after they met.
So perhaps J. Howard Marshal wanted to die being married to a beautiful blonde bombshell SO WHAT! Good for him – maybe he got the last laugh. He knew what he was doing. After all, the man was worth BILLIONS, he didn’t leave Anna all that much in his will considering his vast wealth.
The media and the public alike, also made Anna’s fluctuating weight the subject of many cruel jokes. Of course any one knows that being in Hollywood’s limelight opens a person up to a lot criticism, it goes with the territory, but that doesn’t make it any less painful.
Anna’s reality show and then her stint as a spokesperson for Trim Spa and her slurry, incoherent presentation at the 2004 MTV Music Awards (click to watch the vid) made matters even worse. The newscaster at the end of the video, couldn’t have said it any better when she said:
“Anna needs some friends”
Exactly. She needed some REAL friends. NOT enablers. As for her “boyfriend” Howard K. Stern, I for one, never trusted Howard from the beginning. I put the word boyfriend in quotes, because I think Anna was in such a foggy cloud all the time, I don’t even think she knew that Howard was her boyfriend, but rather he self-appointed himself as such. Even more perverse, he later became her husband, clearly taking advantage of her clueless mental state. Weddings are supposed to be joyful, but their Bahama wedding was SAD. It was pretty clear to any observer, Anna barely realized what was going on (FYI: the marriage wasn’t legal in the US).
Going back to when Anna had her reality show, I could never understand why Howard sat idly by and even starred in her reality show along side of her, allowing her to be exploited while she was in obvious states of intoxication. I blame both Stern and the network for this blatant exploitation of her addiction, when they knew full well Anna was in a dangerous spiral. All anyone seemed to care about was keeping the train wreck going because the ratings were high for the show.
I actually wrote letters to the network pleading with them to please open their eyes and cancel the show, not only for Anna’s sake, but for her son Daniel’s sake. I cringed at her behavior and the way Danial looked so embarrassed and uncomfortable on that show. I always thought that the poor kid was going to grow up so tortured and teased about his Mom’s shenanigans and obvious drug abuse. But ultimately, Daniel didn’t have the chance to grow up, dying barely past the age of 20. In a sick twist of fate, Daniel met the same demise as his Mom with a drug overdose.
Let’s not forget when Anna was pregnant with daughter Dannielynn and she was clearly using drugs throughout her pregnancy. The famous “clown video“ emerged in the media, making everyone a first hand witness to the madness. Anna was painted like a clown, heavily PREGNANT, slurring her words and acting like a child with a baby doll, all while Howard was taping her and actually directing her in the video.
Howard is also heard on the video saying “This footage is worth money“.
Now I am not going to get into the whole Larry Birkhead (daughter Dannielynns’ REAL father) paternity fiasco, where Howard actually tried to claim he was the father of Anna’s daughter or the custody battle between Birkhead, Stern and Anna’s estranged mother, who is as vile as they come, as that would take PAGES.
Ultimately, I hope the truth finally comes out about EVERYTHING, including a more thorough look into Daniel’s case as well. In my opinion, something went terribly wrong there, and I believe the truth has yet to come out. Now I am sure I will get some Anna Nicole hater comments…but she happens to be one gal I felt sorry for and who was so clearly a victim.
Regarding the court case, what I don’t understand is if these three people are convicted, they could face as little as five years in prison? Pardon me, but ONLY FIVE YEARS? THAT’S IT???
No disrespect to Anna or to her family members, but what was Anna, a freakin’ gerbil that died? I don’t think a death from an overdose from pills that was OVERLY prescribed by her doctors, under different names and Howard being an enabler for those drugs, to say the least, only deserves a short stay in a cream puff jail with a slap on the wrist.
Reuters reported the news on the upcoming trial. IF in fact they are even ordered to stand trial.
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – A judge on Monday ordered Anna Nicole Smith’s longtime boyfriend and two doctors to face a hearing in August to determine if they must stand trial for illegally supplying the Playboy model with prescription drugs for years before she died of an accidental overdose.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Wesley said the preliminary hearing would begin within 10 days of Aug 12 for Howard K. Stern, who was also Smith’s lawyer, her psychiatrist Khristine Eroshevich and Dr. Sandeep Kapoor.
Stern, 40, and the two doctors are charged with conspiracy and prescribing painkillers, sleeping pills, anxiety medications and other drugs to Smith between 2004 and her death on Feb 8, 2007 from an overdose of prescription drugs.
Wesley began the hearing by issuing a bench warrant for Kapoor, 41, after the doctor didn’t turn up but quashed it after he arrived late, saying that a patient had an emergency.
Stern and the two doctors are accused of obtaining the pills for Smith by using false names, but their lawyers say they were merely carrying out Smith’s wishes and that the drugs were prescribed for legitimate medical reasons.Smith, who was 39 when she died, is best known as a Playboy Playmate and Guess jeans model. With her buxom blond looks, she often emulated Marilyn Monroe, who died of a drug overdose in August, 1962 at the age of 36.
If convicted, all three defendants could face more than 5 years in prison.
Smith was found unresponsive at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida on February 8, 2007 and was pronounced dead at a local hospital within hours.
Her death came shortly after the birth of her daughter and the death of her 20-year-old son, who also died of an overdose from prescription drugs and methadone.
So Vickey Lynne Hogan, (Anna’s real name when she was born) and son Daniel may you Rest in Peace. Hopefully SOME justice may be right around the corner.

According to Larry Birkhead’s sworn testimony at the Bahamian Inquest, Anna Nicole Smith gave Ecstasy and Methadone to her son Daniel. Anna told people that Daniel used Methadone for his “back pain”. Daniel was in hospital for Valium abuse before he died.

People shouldn’t glorify or justify a middle aged woman who gave drugs to her own child. It’s morally wrong. She had choices and she chose reckless lifestyle and debauchery.

Oh give me a break! Have u actually seen the Anna Nicole Show? I was addicted to her show and saw how she ran Howard. Your entire article is mis directed and full of half facts.
Please research Anna Nicole before making bold sweeping statements that are only half true, otherwise you might end up with a lawsuit for libel.
Your website doesnt do well because you dont report facts. Only sensationalism. Howard was not in control of Anna, it was the other way around. If you had any inkling of what you actually write, you might actually know that.
I think the writer of this article is a LOSER with a capital L.
#3 Comment: Anna Had Hashimoto’s disease as evidenced by her autopsy. Her doctors failed her, NOT HOWARD K STERN…THEY are the ones who wrote the prescriptions NOT HOWARD. It wasnt about being wreckless, it was about trusting the wrong docs.

Anna had a six breast operations and most likely a gastric bypass operation. I think she didn’t lose weight in a natural way. She always complained that her breast implants were very heavy and that she had a severe back pain. She became addicted to painkillers AFTER breast augmentations. She wanted to become a Hollywood star, and the price was huge and tragic.Remember Jean Harlow, Judy Garland…

Ok people Queen here.
Calm down. First of all I had no idea that Birkhead testified about Anna giving Daniel drugs. If this is true, yes this is horribly wrong. But like I said I doubt if Anna was in her right mind 90% of the time, including through her whole pregnancy.
As far as #4 comment goes…. if you read the article, it says “I” felt sorry for her. This is my OPINION.
And yes I did watch the show. If Howard is SO innocent of not being an enabler, then why did he agree to do the show and stay on the show in the first place? Why did he do NOTHING about her drug use?
If Anna was in control of everything as you say, it was in a drugged stupor. And anyone who would let her control them in that stupor, had another agenda. In my opinion.
Yes Anna’s doctors failed her. But for you to say that Howard is innocent is beyond laughable to me.
As her lawyer/boyfriend/fake husband.. why didn’t he do anything to try to stop the circus? Why did he choose to particpate in it?
I can’t imagine Anna was in the right frame of mind to marry Howard in the Bahamas. You really think that it was her doing? Why would he agree to it? Why would he claim that he was the father? Why did he leave her alone all drugged up at the Hard Rock? He knew what she was ingesting for months, even when she was pregnant… why did’t he throw all of the drugs out? Call the cops on the Docs? WHY?
One doesn’t have to write the actual prescription to be an enabler. Anyone knows that.
Letting someone you supposbly care for continue to take drugs, even when they are PREGNANT and then FILM it, is being an enabler.

Anna Nicole was an adult, middle aged woman. She had an adult son, she could have been a grandmother. We are not talking about young High School girl. She started to abuse drugs when she was very young. She overdosed in 1996. She was in coma. Why didn’t she stop drug abuse, she had a son. Did she think about her child? Where is personal responsibility? Anna used her friends, assistants to get Rx. drugs. Nathan Collins, Kim Walther also obtained drugs for Anna. People put the blame on Howard, he’s favorite scapegoat.The trial will reveal the truth about Anna’s medical records. Birkhead said under oath Anna gave drugs to her son. She was responsible for his death and finally her own.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about Howard.
And to the poster quoting Larry.
Which day are we supposed to believe his story?
He has changed it many times throughout this saga.
Both court documents and testimony’s support the fact that he changes his story repeatedly.
IMO Larry is about as sorry as Howard and both were hangers-on.
Hopefully one day both Daniel and Vickie Lynn’s deaths will be properly investigated and the ones responsible will have their feet held to the fire.
Vickie’s mother is suing Howard, Larry, TMZ, Art Harris, CBS and Howard’s sister for spreading lies about her in order to make Howard look better.
Virgie Arthur has a conspiracy case ongoing in Harris County in TX.
Bonnie enlisted several bloggers help to dig up dirt and one blogger (Lyndal Harrington) even went so far as to steal one of the investigators garbage and mail.
Lyndal also faked a burglary when the courts asked for her PC AND crashed a charity event John O’Quinn was hosting.
Bonnie herself filed for bankruptcy and later defied a court order and wiped out information from her PC.
When she thought their was a warrant out for her arrest she hid out.
Seems like a whole lot of trouble for a bunch who are supposed to be innocent.

Good article. Anna and the people around her all made bad choices. She seemed to be a final product of the image that she desired for herself, and the sycophants who supported it for their own gain. On her TV show it appeared that she was high and goofy most of the time in the scenes that were shown. There could have very well been moments when she was perfectly straight, but as stated, it didn’t seem as if many major decisions in her life were made when she was lucid, according to what was aired (which we could all agree where chosen for sensationalism).
In the end she chose to believe and live the hype she created about herself, and unfortunately acquired all the baggage and phony entourage that comes with that choice. I’ve seen Stern say that he had to give her the various medication because she’d demand them and go crazy if he didn’t. Well, hadn’t he ever heard of placebos? The doctors could have possibly given him some fake pills to give her to placate her once in a while, I would have at least tried that. And, to get her into a clinic ultimately, especially after Daniel’s death.
I feel very badly for what happened to her and her son in the end. And that it’s a story that tragically repeats itself ad infinitum, every generation.

Whether or not Stern is criminally responsible for Anna’s death, he most definitely is responsible for exploiting her like it was his job. He’s a vile human being who exploited Anna, her daughter and the court system–all to make a profit. It’s disgusting!
