The Duggers Are Expecting Their 19th Child.. Ok Just Stop It Already

The word is out.
Michelle Dugger of the reality show 18 Kids and Counting will be giving birth to her 19th child this March. The new baby will be joining Joshua, Jana, John-David, Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Josiah, Joy-Anna, Jedidiah, Jeremiah, Jason, James, Justin, Jackson, Johannah, Jennifer, and Jordyn.

The Duggers have been married since 1984. That means with number 19 on the way, she will have given birth to 19 kids in 25 years.

Ok, I’m sorry when does it start to get gross? Michelle, the human pinata has already had three C sections. Her belly must be like a ziploc bag.

MSNBC reported that she was surprised when she found out she was pregnant. After all, she had just given birth to a baby girl only eight months prior. She sure is quite the Fertile Myrtle. I wonder what is in the water out there in Arkansas?
Hey Michelle! You must have been absent from school the day the girls had the talk about their changing bodies.

Of course there is a reason behind Michelle’s disregard for her body and her poor kids who have to take care of all the other kids. It’s called Quiverfull. Not too many people are familiar with this Christian movement. They believe that one should be fruitful and multiply and believe that every child is a gift from Providence.
And from Wiki:

“The Christian quiverfull movement derives its name from Psalm 127:3-5, where many children are metaphorically referred to as a quiver full of arrows.”

Yeah ok… having that many children is from way back when parents needed children to work on the farms. This is 2009 Duggers.

People have the right to believe in what they want as long as it doesn’t  harm anyone, and I know they also has the right to have as many children as they want as long as they can care for them, but sorry, having 19 children is utterly ridiculous in this day and age.

It also reminds me of something…

Are the Duggers yet another family that will be exploiting their kids for the fame and fortune of reality TV? Jon and Kate Plus 8 comes to mind.
Although Michelle Dugger is not at all like Kate Gosselin as far as being materialistic or having Kate’s cheery disposition *snicker* but she isn’t any brighter either.

Gee, I wonder if Kate is a tad worried that The Duggers will be taking over the lime light in child exploitation. Well you know Kate, you can always have a few more! Cha-ching!

I happen to catch a bit of one of the Duggger shows and I couldn’t watch it. They were preparing to go on some sort of bus trip, and between the packing, the bathroom stops and everything else in between, it just made me cringe and shake my head. Although the kids seem surprisingly very well behaved compared to some reality show kids, *ahem*
It seemed like a total hardship on the Dugger kids who have to use the “buddy system” and constantly care for the rest of the Dugger brood. When do these kids get to be kids instead of being instant parents? They are all home schooled on top of it. Talk about sibling rivalry and wanting to get the hell out of the house!

Although some will argue that home schooling is the only way to go, I think kids miss out on a lot of social interaction and activities that you don’t get with home schooling. Yes I know they are on a show, and probably see lots of other people, and they mosey into town and do play with some other kids, but what about having BFFs? I cherish my childhood friends, and some of  my fondest memories are of school. I still keep in touch with many people I went to school with. You would think that the Duggers would want their children to have these precious memories too. Obviously not.
Perhaps Jim Bob is forming his own little cult?

And what about Michelle?

Doesn’t she want a break? Yeah I know it takes two to tango, and it is ultimately her final say as to whether or not she wants to go through with any more pregnancies. But is she being prodded? (ok, I know what you were thinking there, snicker)
Is Jim Bob or anyone else putting dollar signs in her eyes? Well I guess either way, if she come out with a tell-all book, she will be raking in the dough.

She already maintains a blog on TLC’s website. I guess having a bevy of built in baby sitters does have its advantages? I did check out her blog. She says she is exhausted and she had this to say about her current pregnancy:

“I thought we might be done. I was a little sad about it, but I just accepted it was a stage of my life and perhaps God felt my family was complete.I told Jim Bob right away, and he was so excited, he couldn’t hold it in. We told the children right then, and they were excited, too.”

A LITTLE  sad? I would have ripped my freakin’ hair out. And Jim Bob (yes that’s his real name, honest) was excited was he? If it was Jim Bob that had to go through labor, I think the Dugger family member count would have been about four, and would have stayed at four, including himself and Michelle.

On a more serious note. What about the dangers associated with having this many pregnancies?
According to CafeMom, getting pregnant repeatedly can have some huge and nasty repercussions.
Not to mention that the possibility of having a child with mental or physical problems greatly increases.

They asked three nurses and this is part of what they said:

Medically speaking, with each pregnancy, you have an increased risk for postpartum bleeding because your uterus doesn’t want to contract down to normal size. It’s been stretched for so long and so often, it tries to be stubborn. Another risk is for the bladder to prolapse, meaning it drops downward and can come out of the vaginal canal. To fix it, they have a new procedure that’s fairly easy, but a lot of GYNs don’t like to do it until  you are done having babies.

Just lovely.
Well let’s just hope Michelle’s bladder doesn’t fall out of her “hoo ha” on the show. But I am sure the ratings would be killer, won’t they?
I can just hear the preview for the upcoming show… Tune in next week  when all “h”-”e” double hockey sticks breaks out when Michelle’s bladder falls in the batch of homemade soap! Oh the hilarity!

Michelle, you can be done now. Honest you can. I doubt your kids feel that they need another child to care for. Don’t start thinking that 20 is a nice round number, I think your quiver is quite full. God won’t be mad if you stop now. *snicker*

Really, when is Michelle and Sir Hump-a-lot, Jim Bob going to put a cork in it? Or when will Jim Bob have a couple of snips? Which seems MORE than fair to Michelle, wouldn’t you say?

The Duggers are not only on TLC, they have a book under their belts called The Duggers: 20 And Counting and I am sure there will be more to follow. Jim Bob is a former state legislator, and is involved in a number of businesses, including commercial real estate. So even though having a huge family like the Duggers would be financially devastating for most, they supposedly make ends meet. I am sure TLC is making it a lot easier for them financially, if not helping them to survive. Of course the Duggers plan on going forward with yet another season. But what happens when their audience goes away, and TLC no longer finds them bankable? Will their quiver be finally full then?

Speaking of TLC, you have to love TLC, huh?
They have some real quality shows. *snicker* From Toddlers & Tiaras to I Didn’t Know I was Pregnant. Hey Michelle maybe you can be on that show too!

TLC is known as the “Learning Channel.”
I am sorry, what are we learning here again? How to have a litter of children? Or how to put a pair of flippers (fake teeth) on your child and dress them up in a hooker outfit with big hair and caked on make up and watch them bump and grind to I’m A Little Teacup?
People pa-lease!

I guess TLC is always on the look out for more children and families to exploit.Yeah I know, it’s the parents that choose to do the shows. But how many of these yahoos are being tantalized by the reality show dream of getting their little ones on TV and banking in on them?

Of course TLC would have LOVED the Vassilyev family.
Nobody can compete with the first wife of Feodor Vassilyev of Shuyu Russia. She bore 69 children between 1725 and 1765. She had 16 pairs of twins, seven sets of triplets, and four sets of quadruplets.

Now your talking! Too bad TV wasn’t around back in the 1700’s, this family could have been reality show gold.
They could have called the show “The Hump-a lots!”
Oh wait… that’s the Duggers.

Hey Now! Knock it off!
Will someone please turn a hose on these two? Geez!

  3. Ok, first of all, the show is called 18 Kids and Counting… not The Duggars.

Secondly, I doubt Michelle continues to have kids to cash in on her growing brood. Remember, she chose to have 17 kids (the number she had when the show started) before there was ever a reality show. I think it’s reasonable to conclude that she wanted a big family and believes wholeheartedly in the quiverfull movement, long before a reality show had anything to do with it.

I don’t subscribe to the quiverfull movement, and when I first watched this family, I watched expecting to be appalled by their beliefs and lifestyle. But after watching the show, and becoming more familiar with the family, their lifestyle, their beliefs, I do not find it to be nearly as disturbing as I thought I would. In fact, I kind of feel myself longing for some of the close family relationships and deep love they appear to feel for one another.

They appear to be a loving, happy family, who are deeply rooted in morality (which most of this society is severely lacking), and they financially support themselves. Translation, they are not on welfare to support their children. Yes, their show undoubtedly helps financially now, but remember folks, they had this family long before the bucks started rolling in, and they didn’t rely on public assistance then either.

Yes, they have built-in baby sitters. Yes, the homeschooled children miss out on some of the friendships and extra-curricular activities associated with traditional schooling. But they appear to be pretty well-adjusted. And quite frankly, I’d prefer my child be more like the Duggar children than many – MANY – of the kids I see coming out of the public school systems.

Do we all have to agree with the Duggar’s way of life? No… but I think that anyone who watches the show with an open mind might just see something positive there that they weren’t expecting…

  5. I gather from what information I found online regarding the Quiverfull philosophy that birth control is not accepted. Nor is abstinence. Is oral gratification of your partner acceptable? Or is the physical enjoyment of a sex act not part of God’s plan? From their teachings it sounds like the pregnancy is all that matters. If so, then there are a few parts of female anatomy that God shouldn’t have included. Or he is REALLY good.

Sorry to dissapoint you, but miserable I am not.

And to glp…. you said the Duggers are “deeply rooted in morality ”
Of course they are… that’s why they are doing a reality show!
It’s probably what God told them to do. LOL!

What a bunch of delusional sheep.

  19. No delusional sheep here. I just don’t happen to share your opinion.

As for the Duggar’s being deeply rooted in morality, have you ever even watched the show? Yes, they do a reality show, and you’ve made it clear, you believe all reality TV to be pure evil. We get it. The difference with this reality show is that messages they send, the images they portray, are nothing but moral. I cahllenge you to show us one example of this show portraying amoral images or themes.

Again, I simply don’t agree with your portrayal of this family.

    Comment by nancy — September 2, 2009 @ 3:16 pm

  22.
  23. Yes, Michelle Dugger and Nadya Selyman (octomom) idolize Kate Gosselin. And yes, a reality show or any other exploitation of children (think Brangelina selling baby pics) hurts children. How many famous, well-adjusted, successful people come from families of 17 and were celebrities at age 3?

Oh yes, the Duggers are moral, just like the bible thumping Heidi and Spencer and Beny Hinn. And yes, Queen will leave people alone if they are not exploiting their children.

Who is going to stand up for children exploited by reality shoews–People Magazine?

  25. HEY NANCY STOP SHOUTING!
This is a GOSSIP blog. Get over it.

And as far as as being moral?
AGAIN.. if case you haven’t noticed..
THEY ARE ON A REALITY SHOW.

Showing the world via reality show that having 19 kids is a good thing in this day and age and getting paid for it, is NOT MORAL.

Even St.Paul said the best practice is abstinence!(which doesn’t work either)

I did catch a line from one of the Dugger’s show. It’s the one when they go grocery shopping.
One of the older girls said that all the kids beg and beg to go grocery shopping because they want to get out of the house so bad.
I’m sorry that is beyond SAD. Nuff said.

  33. 100% agree. You can not give enough love, attention, support, ect to 19 kids. Had a friend who came from a similar background and he has severe psychological issues from not getting enough love, attention, ect. Even psychologists recommend in a 2 parent household that you should only have 3 kids.

Maybe we dont pay taxes to support their litter, but trust your future generations will be paying for the Duggars (and others)indulgent, ignorant, selfish over population in many ways, ie carbon foot prints, and the fact that our poor planet is already collapsing. Not to mention that for ever ignorant parent teaching and brain washing their little girls and boys this repressive courting, creation, showing your extremeties is bad, having a opnion different from your husbands is wrong, etc. crap…yeah you get my drift. 53. Queen,

Great insight and I loved your comment about the human pinata and the ziploc! Classic LOL material there.

No one is saying people shouldn’t have kids or that kids are bad. I have kids, love them dearly, but CRIPES! 19 is not only DISGUSTING on a variety of personal levels, but really very, very unhealthy for both the child and the mother. You need at least two or three years recovery time between babies to recoup the nutrients lost during pregnancy, each time you rush these pregnancies before the mother’s body has replenished, you are depleting vital sources of nutrients for the next child, increasing the possibility of birth defects. That’s really selfish and irresponsible.

Mrs. Duggar’s womb HAS to be begging for mercy. That said, they are still infinitely better than the Gosselins who are psychotic attention whores.

You have to be part of a family this large to understand. Every Sunday morning we get together to talk about our week. We have grown to 60 people now. LOL! We love each other and always there for each other. Many people wish they had what we do. I agree it is kind of insane to have a nephew older than me but at the same time he was my playmate. People need to relax it is not some horrible thing to have people who love you no matter what.

I think it’s very sad that Michelle doesn’t think it important to spend as much time as possible with each little baby, at least seeing them through potty training, before she gets pregnant again. Instead, the supplanted baby is relegated to the older children to raise. She and Jim Bob seem dead set and setting some kind of record rather than enjoying the children they already have.

  61. Hey everyone.

In conjunction with all the comments toward Jon and Kate plus 8 and 18 Kids and Counting,I too have some things to say.

This family is a disgrace.Their oldest Josh and his wife Anna are expecting their first child. How must Anna feel being pregnant at the same time as her MOTHER-IN-LAW? Having your child and grandchild born a few months apart is not normal.
It is about time that they stopped having un-protected sex and start using condoms…Or how about a vasectomy?

Concerning Jon and Kate plus 8…
Kate is the crazyyy as* b*tch.Jon wanted to end the show(which is the cause of all their problems) back in season 2.Kate does nothing but spend the KIDS money.None of the money belongs to her. Each episode they do gives them anywhere from 25,000 to 80,000
Lets do the math.(These are guesstimations but I’m pretty sure they arent to far fomr the real thing.

    25,000×105= 2625000.

I think I like the Duggars.
Anyways,in some ways I agree with all of your comments and lets face it, We all have different opinions, different likes and dislikes:)

I know I am number 16 in my family. So actually each child gets more attention then a home with one or two children. Let me put it this way.. it is like being raised by many parents. I was exposed to music and books as well as other things I never would have if not for my siblings.

  75. Thanks, Queen. Enjoyed your article.
I’m 1 of 5: 4 girls and 1 boy. Growing up, my mother had a real hard time seeing that we were each different from each other. This was very frustrating – the fact that our own Mom didn’t know us. We were discouraged from making outside friends (”you don’t need friends, you have sisters”). I couldn’t wait to experience the world and new people. The Duggers might be different, though. These kids are pretty docile and uncurious.
In one episode, the mom reads the females a bedtime story – which is her special time with them. The girls look like they’re waiting for her to finish up with her foolishness so they can have their own private conversations. Dugger Mom is in fantasy-land, and she’s forced to be. Always pregnant, lactating, gaining and losing wt. Her bladder must leak like a sieve. Yeah, it’s a real homey portrait. The Duggers are a billboard for Jesus – and their fans approve. BTW, their home is declared a church so they don’t pay taxes on it. So stuff it, Dugger fans. You are paying for it.

They aren’t on welfare, they don’t ask for anything and furthermore I can guarantee that her kids are more respectful, kinder and reised with better morals. So who are you to judge this family! So quite being jealous , get off your high horse and leave this family alone. Let them have as many as they want.

Secondly I don’t give a damn what religion you think they are, it is their right to have these kids and they are NO burden on society. Matter of fact Jimbob was a senator and well respected. So don’t antagonize there morals and education just because you are a jealous bitch. People like you have nothing better to do then try and bring descedent people down. You wish you had what they have. Otherwise it wouldn’t bother you. If you haven’t noticed Jimbob and Michelle are still together as a couple and don’t treat each other like dogs. They love each other and everyone of those kids. So get off of them and get yourself a life. Ms Queen!!

  83. Hey Princes…
What ever religion “I” say they are?
The Duggers are the ones that said they were in Quiverful not me. bozo.

Jealous bitch you say? Of a husband like JimBob who can care less about his wife’s health? Or that his children probably will never see the inside of a college? Especially the girls, they will be too busy birthing babies.DISGUSTING and an insult to women everywhere.

And as far as JimBob being religous?? He doesn’t even go to church!

And you think I am jealous over Michelle having 19 kids?? HA HA HA HA

Get myself a life? Oh, ok Princes… you made me see the light….

You are a sheer delight and a total riot. Thanks for commenting.

  85. I see so many parents who have broken relationships and child abuse going on. Please don’t get me wrong.I do believe that you have the right to believe the way you’d like. These people are an asset to our society. They try to teach a kind and more loving way . Their children will grow up to help this failing country. Ifor one feel a deep respect for the duggar family.

  87. wow after rading everyones comments, im shocked. Does the Duggar family really have an impact on your life for you to hate, hislike, disagree, be disgust????
I have just had my first child and yes 10 months later i still feel like im not quite as good as i was before i fell pregnant and if i happen to fall pregnant again soon i would not be thinking about my bladder falling out but the excitment of another baby. you really have to have a baby to understand what the duggar family are going through, even just 1%… I do wonder if Michelle has been doing the most for herself in the way of looking after herself…
Us woman are a great breed. man can never experience what we do and i guess ,michelle makes the most of it.
I’m the oldest of 3, only 2 left and i would have liked more siblings… better than being a spoiled one child…
Its the one thing in life no one can take from you (in australia) to have a small family or a big family.
I would like to know how they handle the finances, then we’d all be debt free…
oh i could just go on and on but i better stop, lol

It was the day they were all on the Today show, and Josh and Anna told everyone they were preg. and then JimBob and Michelle butted in and said they were expeting also. how rude!!!!

  95. i happen to admire the duggars on the way they are raising there family.. if they want 30 kids its nobodys buisness but their own they are not on welfare unlike a lot of people that will pop kids out just to get a bigger check and food stamps.. they are a god fearing family that i admire the kids are so well behaved and they show us what a family is supposed to be like.. people need to keep their rude comments to themselves cause it just shows how their parents raised them..

  103. in a time when being married to the same man for even a year is to long to some and the thought of a baby would ruin that girlish figure, the Duggers are a great example of what true love and family values are all about. There is no selfishness in the family, they are being taught more in home school than any public school can offer. I enjoy the show and hope and get this PRAY for them, that they and show someone how to keep it together in this fast, “all about me and no body counts but me” world. GOOOOO DUGGERS:)

  105. I am really enjoying reading this blog and its reception. I think it is really funny that people get emotional over TV. While i do not agree with Queen, the author, I do think she has the right to say what she wants. (1st amend anyone?) Just to chime in. Theses people seem real and it would be sad if they got divorced. They love each other, if they have kids bc God wants them to that ok. They are trying to do good things for people. I don’t see anyone on here doing that. Otherwise keep on writing!

  107. Queen,
Queen of what? Really? You knock this family for their beliefs and how they have chosen to live their lives. You criticize that there is no mention of the kids going to college (with the way you write, I question if you attended an accredited university),it is mentioned they are a drain on the tax system because their house is a church. The physical structure being listed as such, may keep them from paying property taxes (which n most states pays for schools- they home school) , but that does not prevent their personal income from being taxed. from the research of 501 holders (for the uneducated here, that means tax exempt for charity or religious purposes) the Duggers do not appear….

I get that you write a gossip blog, but doing some investigating wouldn’t hurt you (put some of those brain cells to use). So when I ask you, when people get sick of reading the garage you write, what will you do? will you file for government assistance? will become a drain on American society? Will I have to pay for your poor choices?

The Duggers are self sufficient, they love each other and their children. So they have some built in baby sitters,I babysat my sister and cousins when I was growing up. It’s healthy. I do agree 19+ kids is not for me, but women have been doing this since the dawn of time. Why don’t you focus your gossip on people who are a real detriment to society and a drain on our tax dollars. Some ideas- Lindsay Lohan, Britney Sears, Octomom.

    Just food for thought….

  109. I respect the Duggers for being a happy healthy family and I do know that they practice quiverful but, I have to say it seems like pure vanity on their part to reproduce so many biological children. Why not, if they think children are a blessing help those who have no families and are in need of love and guidence just think if they took just 5 kids out of system what that would do for the world.

  119. It is truely admiring to see a couple so happy and in love, a lot of us only wish for that or take it for granted.
I still can’t get over the fact that they can raise so many children so wonderfully, we have 1 son and even he is a handful some times and although we want more children, i’m worried about how i will handle it all. The duggars and doing a great job.
They are roll models for those out there bludging off government.

Queen here. I find your SHOUTING distasteful.

You shouted, “LEAVE THEM ALONE CAUSE I LIKE WATCHING THE DUGGARS THEY ARE INTERESTING ”

    Uhhh…. No.
I won’t leave them alone because YOU find them interesting.

I find the Duggars and the show that promotes “makin’ babies till you drop” mentality utterly ridiculous in this day and age.

Putting a huge burden on your children and your wife’s health is considered Christian values? LOL! Give me a break.

    But to each their own.
And the last time I checked, I was entitled to my opinion, and so are you Sabra, just stop SHOUTING!:)

  125. Jim Bob is a former politician, they own commercial property and businesses, and are debt free. They aren’t on welfare or any other gov’t program. Their kids healthy, educated, and respectful. People rag n Sarah Palin fr being an absentee mother, yet when you have parents that take time to teach their kids restraint and morales, thier crazy! Yes, 19 kids is crazy, but the public doesn’t pay for it (unlike Jon and Kate) whose 1st and 2nd house were given to them.
